Short motivational talk advising adults to set boundaries with parents: don't answer repeated calls from a mother if you already declined, because responding trains you to prioritize others over yourself and can negatively affect adult romantic relationships. The clip links parental interactions to patterns in love-life priorities and encourages prioritizing oneself.

Hey, girl. I don't know who needs to hear this, but if your mother calls you and you don't pick up and she continues to call you a second, third, fourth, and fifth time, don't answer those calls, you are training her that that is appropriate, and that is a violation of your boundary. Why am I saying this? I'm saying this because our parental relationship actually informed the way that we engage in our adult romantic relationships. So when she does that, you are trained to drop everything that you're doing and prioritize someone else's feelings. You drop your attention, your time, all of that, and I don't want you to do that. In your love life, you need to be the first priority, and everyone needs to actually circle around you based on what's convenient for you and what makes you happiest. When you continue to answer those calls, you are training yourself to do something different, which will completely hurt the way that you engage in your love life. I hope that helps set that boundary with your mother.
