A short YouTube monologue by Anwar White arguing that vulnerability is not a weakness in dating and relationships but a strength that enables deep connection; the speaker also connects this tendency to childhood conditioning where parents' limited emotional availability (due to work and cultural responses) teaches children to suppress feelings.

Hey girl. Regardless of what your mind and your body is telling you, vulnerability is not a weakness in dating and relationship. It is the biggest strength and superpower that you can have because when you have it, you will be able to deeply connect with a man. If you don't, you will never be able to connect with a man. He wants to take off the armor when he's home and just be him during the day. He is intellectually and physically sparring and he just wants to be at home when he's with you. That's why vulnerability is so important. Oftentimes when we're growing up, our parents who are working hard making a fraction of a white man's dollar don't have the energy, they don't have the time and often don't have the skills to be emotionally available to you. So if you've heard don't cry or I'll give you something to cry about or you are tender headed, these they were dismissing your feelings and that conditions you to not actually think that vulnerability is going to be received well.
