Anwar White on how dating shifted during the pandemic as people moved to apps. Five years in, he's seeing the damage: algorithms flood feeds with narrow dating advice that tanks self-esteem, and scammers are everywhere. He coaches people through it with humor.
Questions this video answers
"It's been five years."
"80% of your feed."
Teacher Lorraine said. What changes have you seen in dating recently? I think it's gotten very difficult pre and post pandemic, night and day. I think that people are. People started going on to the apps during the pandemic, and it's been five years.
That's a long time to be on the apps.
And it's. I think it's really, like, played a toll on a lot of people. I think social media and the algorithms have not helped. I think that if you like one dating advice video, it's going to represent 80% of your feed. And so it's like all of these people talking about dating and at some point it's making people not feel good about dating and not feel good about themselves. Within dating, I try to be someone that brings some levity and some fun to it because a lot of people, like, speak down to women about this and just don't make them feel good about it. But that's what I'm saying. I'm also saying that it's becoming more. More and more unsafe. There's just a lot of people that are scared, scammers and fakers.
I think that a lot of people are unhealed and it's becoming, especially the people that are single. And so it's just become a harder place to be when it comes to dating. I was just telling my coaches that it's getting harder and harder. Our jobs are getting harder and harder. We still love what we do. It's just getting harder and harder. Within my program, I still have people getting into relationships every other day. It's just taking a little bit more time to get there. Okay.
