3 simple reasons why you might not be happy at work. Number 1, you've probably forgot about the reason why you started in the first place. When you started your career or you started this job, you had a purpose. Either you wanted it or you needed it, but somewhere along the way, you've lost focus on why you've come in the first place. I remember having a coaching session with a group of individuals in the organization. And one individual was super bothered by management style and things that were changing. And I gave them every opportunity to get it all out. And then I asked them, so tell me a little bit about your particular job assignment. And what I noticed is that they didn't want to talk about that. They only wanted to talk about the things that had nothing to do with their actual job assignment. I think the point I want to make is that this person could not find the joy and the value of the assignment that they signed up for because they were so distracted by things that were going on culture-wise, leadership-wise, things of that nature. So when you get away from the why, the purpose, the reason why you started in the first place, very easy to become unhappy. The second reason is you've forgotten who you are. You've forgotten how great you are. You forgot how skillful you are. You forgot how insightful and how personable you are, which means those qualities are valuable anywhere. So if you are in a work environment that you no longer feel good and vibrant about, you can shift. You're not a tree. You can move. But somehow you've told yourself that you're stuck, and this is this is all you can do right now. And you worried about if you stop and how you gonna pay bills or whatever reason you give yourself on why you won't shift if you're unhappy. So you've forgotten who you are. I heard a quote one time that keeps me free every time I feel like I'm stuck in any situation. An old wise man once said, "A bird." is never concerned about the branch that it lands on because the faith is not in the branch, it's in its wings. Don't forget about your wings. You are valuable wherever you go. And the third thing, which is just as important as the first two, is you refuse to make a decision. You refuse to decide to be happy again. You refuse to decide to make a shift and change If needed. So you should not be waking up every day begrudgingly going to work. You should be excited about the path that you have chosen and created for yourself to serve in whatever capacity. Because if you wake up every day feeling like, I got to go to work, I got to do this, I got to do that, then you need to remember that you don't got to do anything. You get to do everything. Make sure that you are operating in an attitude of gratitude, and being unhappy in work will become a thing of the past.
