Hi, my name is DB Bedford, better known as the EI Guy. I want to give you the top 5 things that you need to know to create a highly successful career in the health and wellness industry. All right, here we go. Number 5, I want you to remember this simple formula that when emotions are high, logic tends to be low. That means that whenever you find yourself involved in a conversation that's emotionally charged, keep in mind it's like a scale. When emotions are high, logic tends to be low. And this is a very valuable thing to remember because it will give you insight on how you should engage with whomever you come into contact with. Because in this industry, you're going to run across a lot of emotional individuals. No doubt about it. Trust me on this. Number 4, Projection bias. You know, the only time we actually get bothered or irritated with somebody is because when they do something or a situation happens, what makes us frustrated because we look at it and that's not something that we would probably do, or that's not how we would probably say it. And so what happens is that we start to project, right, our bias onto the person on the other side because we want them to do things handle things or say things kind of how we would do it. It's something that's hidden in plain sight. So don't worry about it if you missed it. But I want you to keep in mind on your journey, when you find yourself a little bothered, when you find your feathers a little ruffled, or you feel irritated about something in your journey, instead of going, man, this situation made me mad, or this person rubbed me the wrong way, I want you to ask yourself, why does that bother me in the first place? Projection bias— when you project onto others how you think things should go. Number 3, don't bite the hooks. Now, because we're in the health and wellness industry and we're around people every single day, we're going to be dealing with a lot of emotions. Let's just not act like that's not real. And when that happens, I want you to be mindful of this theory of not biting the hook. Imagine a fisherman who throws his line in the water to catch fish. When he throws his lines in the water and the hook sinks down, fish be in the water minding their own business. A fish could ignore that hook except for the fact that it has bait on it. And so the fish just bites the bait and gets snatched out of his environment, never to return. I promise you that every day of your life, personally or professionally, there are going to be hooks Dancing around, and the bait is going to be sweet. There's going to be impatience. There's going to be low tolerance. It's going to be things that will catch you off guard, and if you bite the hook, it can snatch your mood, your attitude, or your energy for the day, sometimes for a couple of days. And so, when it comes to health and wellness, I want you to have your emotional intelligence intact, and I want your emotional wellness to be. Intact. And this is why these top 5 things is important. Number 2, this will help you with the previous 3. Always be willing to take a purposeful pause. A purposeful pause is when you intentionally put space in between your responses. By doing so, you always give growth time to catch up with you. And so it doesn't have to be when there's something negative going on. Just get in the habit before you respond Email, text, conversation. Put a little bit of space in between your response. Get in the habit of that. That way you will always put yourself in a position to increase the chance to connect to the person you're communicating with, to the situation you engage with in the best possible way. And number one, watch out for those emotional grudges. And you— we all know what a grudge is, and grudges will slow you down and hold you back. And this is very, very important. And grudges come from not being able to process the things that are happening throughout the day. And the longer we hold grudges, the less we become a top performer in our lives, both personally and professionally. If you want to be highly successful in the health and wellness industry, where you're going to come across a lot of people for a lot of different reasons, you're going to make sure that you let things go. I call it the catch and release model. Something comes my way, I catch it, I process it, I let it go. We don't want that emotional baggage to stack up on us because we all know any bag that you constantly put things in gets heavy. And if you're carrying a heavy bag in life, it's going to decrease your chances, right, to having a highly successful career. An old wise man once said that holding a grudge Towards anyone for any reason is like taking poison yourself and expecting the other person to die. And really what that means is that while you're letting this bothering you, the situation on the other end has moved on. The individual on the other end has moved on, and you'll never be able to fly if you don't give up the things that weigh you down. So I promise you, if you take these five things along with everything that you already know, it's going to increase the chances of you having a highly. successful career in the health and wellness industry. My name is DB Bedford, better known as the EI Guy. I'll see you at the top. Peace.
