DB Bedford argues that disagreement isn't disrespect. He explains projection bias—assuming others think like you do—and says recognizing this helps you accept different views without feeling threatened. People's internal software varies, so conflict doesn't have to mean hostility.

Peace, fam. DB Bedford here, your emotional intelligence consultant. Listen, it is time for us to stop equating disagreements with disrespect. Just because somebody disagree with you doesn't mean they're disrespecting you. And if you hold that true to your spirit, you need to ask yourself, who raised you? Who taught you that just because there's a conflict, it means that you have to go to war? You do know you can respectfully disagree with someone, but you don't have to cut their throat. You don't have to be funking as a result. You don't have to throw the whole relationship away just because you guys hold different perspectives. When it comes to emotional intelligence, one of the ways that we're able to be better in this space is that we understand projection bias. Projection bias is when you expect other people to do things the way that you would do them. You expect them to say things the way that you would say them. You expect them to handle things the way that you would handle it. So you project, right, your bias about that onto them. The strategy is to understand that we all have our own internal software and everybody is programmed differently. The soon as you can accept the fact that just because somebody handles something different than you, it doesn't make it necessarily wrong. It's just something that you wouldn't do. When you practice emotional intelligence, you get really good at accepting that. Therefore, you don't feel like you need to go to war behind it, and you allow people, whether you agree with it, like it or not, you allow people to hold their own space because we all are programmed differently and we all will see the world through a different perspective. It is scientifically impossible for everybody to see things the same way, and the sooner you realize that, the better off you'll be. My name is DB Bedford. I'm your emotional intelligence consultant. Peace and blessings.
