Ei Day Traders

DB Bedford makes $1,175 in eight minutes with two short trades on the Russell 2000, moving stop-limits to scalp $425 and $750. He argues tight stops and quick exits keep trading low-stress and leave time for other work.

Peace, fam. DB Bedford here, the EI Guy, bringing you that emotional intelligence both personally and professionally. Listen, I'm gonna be short and quick. I just want you to set your timers because we're doing a time versus money challenge. I know some of you think it's silly, but I'm just trying to keep it in perspective. I want you to set your clocks for 8 minutes, and in 8 minutes, I want you to muster up all the energy, all of your brainpower, and I want you to think about how can you make money in 8 minutes. If that timer catches you and you haven't figured out, then you should consider becoming an EI day trader, because right now I want to show you how I made $1,175 in 8 minutes, and I did it only taking 2 trades. And I'm— I just want to show you how to do the same. So come on in and take a look. All right, it's about 6:42 this morning, Wednesday, February 2nd, and I'm trading on the Russell 2000, and I'm trading on a bearish trade. I got into this trade at 20:39. Right now it's at 2034, and so it's time to scalp some points, meaning I'm gonna take, uh, my stop limit and I'm gonna click it and I'm gonna move down to about— uh, it's at 2034 now. I'm gonna come down to about 2036. Uh, 2036. Just get a few points while it's, uh, in a bearish run to see what happens. You know, we end up in the business of scalping a couple of points, you know, every chance we get. We like to take small profits in the market, um, as soon as the opportunity presents itself. So that was a quick $425, and that's just how we like to, to do it. So look at the activity. I got in at 6:42, got out at 6:43, $425. That's how we do it as a scalper. Get in, get out, get on about your business for the day. All right, so this is actually— so now it's 6:48. This is actually part 2 of the trade. I mean, the, the bearish run continued to go so strong that I had to get back in. So I jumped back in at 2032, and it's at 2028 now. So I'm gonna go ahead and at least grab me a couple of more points, uh, just because that's what we do. It's at 2027 now, so I'll, you know, I'll come down to 2029 because I want to get them quick because I never know when this is going to turn around. But, you know, we like to take advantage of these opportunities. You never know when the market is going to just bless you like this. And this run was so bearish. Normally I would have been in and out, you know, for the day and took that first trade at 425. But as I was getting ready to wrap up the, uh, get ready to wrap it up, I just seen this strong candle run. It's like, I can't miss out on that. So we're at 2025 now. I'm at 2029. I gotta come down and get a couple more points. I'm gonna go to 2027. And the reason why I'm staying a couple of, uh, points back, because if this keeps going, I wanna continue to take advantage of it. When we talk about how we trade, you know, one of the things that we do is that we just observe the market direction. We see where the market is going and we decide to go with it. All right. And so it just stopped out. A little bit of reversal just happened. And, you know, again, we'll go with it, but now we're at 1175. So this was a pretty good day. So I'm definitely done for the day now. I don't really care what else happens because I don't wanna mess off my for-show money trying to get some more money. So look at how this went, the activity. So my— I got in at 6:42, my first trade, got out at 6:43, which was 1 minute. And then I came back in 'cause it kept popping, got back in at 6:47 and got back out at 6:50. So for a total of 8 minutes of activity, $1,175. That is the life of an EI Day Trader. Now, there may be more opportunity throughout the day, but I'm getting in and getting out and get on about my business for the day. And so there you have it, $1,175 in 8 minutes.
