The speaker distinguishes emotional dumping, where you unload problems without asking, from healthy venting, which requires permission first. Calling someone and immediately ranting, or cornering a colleague in the hallway, are examples of dumping. Real emotional intelligence means checking if someone has the space and willingness to listen before you share.

Listen, please understand that emotional dumping will get you fined. And what I mean by that is when you go around emotionally dumping on people, the fine is the relationship that you strain because people see you as someone who don't respect their boundaries and space. And so emotional dumping looks like When you call someone and as soon as they pick up the phone, you don't even see how they're doing and if they even have space for you, and you start unpacking and offloading whatever's bothering you. That's emotional dumping. Or if you're at work and you step into that person's office and be like, you got a minute? And you, and you ask them, do they got a minute, as you're walking into their office, or as you stop somebody in the hallway. And they think it's just a greeting, and boom, next thing you know, they are hit with, uh, so much information. And so be mindful of emotional dumping because it is a lack of respect for others when you do that. Now, that's different from healthy venting. See, sometimes we need to vent with our colleagues or people around us, but before you do that, ask the person, you know, is it okay if you share something with them that That you need, uh, some insight on. Okay, and that's when we talk about emotional intelligence and having a level of self-awareness, and in this case, being— having what we call relational intelligence, knowing when it's a good time to interact with someone and share with them some things that might be bothering you. Yeah, we all want to look out for each other, but just make sure that the person that you want to communicate with It's in the space to be able to receive it. And so don't be an emotional dumper. Don't go around dumping your issues on others without seeing if they got enough space to receive it. Peace.
