How handled being cut in line 🤬

DB Bedford got cut in line at 7-Eleven and asked the clerk why instead of getting angry. The clerk said the woman was the store owner. Bedford uses it to show how asking questions and staying open-minded stops you from taking things personally.

Peace, fam. DB Bedford here, your emotional intelligence expert. Listen, I want to give you a nugget for the weekend. You know, I want you to get into practice of approaching all situations with an open mind. And I had a situation just now which was minor but could have escalated where I was just in 7-Eleven buying a lotto ticket. While I'm buying a lotto ticket, uh, this lady comes and cuts right in front of me and she, uh, basically puts her drink up on the counter to get scanned. The guy stopped what he's doing, scans her drink. I look over at her like, you know how we would look at somebody who cuts in front of you, and she looks at me and goes, I'm sorry, right? And then they say something in a different language and then she dips out. So now I'm a little frustrated, of course, but I wait till he give me my change back, and then when he's done, I look at him and I'm like, yo, bro, can I ask you a question? I'm like, why would you let her cut in front of me like that? He was like, oh man, that's the owner. You know, my first reaction was like, I don't give a shit that that's the owner. But then I had to think about it. Like, from his perspective, he see the owner like whatever she want, like he's gonna, he's gonna take precedent over it. I'm not saying it's right or wrong. That's the first thing he thought about. And I can understand that because I've definitely been VIP and people have moved me to the front of the line. And I'm sure people felt a certain kind of way. So I had to go ahead and just take that, right, and accept it. And whether I liked it or not, I accepted it. But by me asking him the question and getting a better understanding, it prevented me from escalating or feeling a certain kind of way about the guy. And, and one thing I learned about this emotional intelligence platform, when you, when you approach things with an open mind— an open mind means that you're not looking for right or wrong, good or bad, You're looking for understanding whenever something happens, and because I chose to ask the question, "Yo, man, why would you let her get in front of me?" I had an understanding why he made the decision instead of me feeling like it was some decision against me. You get it? Because of course, you take it personal if somebody cuts you and then they serve them and they just act like you weren't there. It's very easy to take it personal. I still not saying I necessarily. Agree with it or how it was handled, but I understand. And so I thought that was very important to share with you guys. So approach this weekend and the days beyond in every situation with the open mind. I'm DB Bedford, your AI expert. Catch you on the next one. Peace.
