Slowing down improves how you feel and decide. Pause before replying to messages, eat one bite at a time, celebrate wins before chasing the next goal. The speaker practices this himself and calls it civility intelligence.

All right, take this one with you for the next couple of days because some of you, when you see a yellow light, you speed up to get through it. And some of you see a yellow light and you slow down and you wait for the next light. And I realize that I'm the calmest, I make the best decisions, I manage my emotions the best, and I'm the most civil when I slow down. So I want to challenge you today to start to slow down. Slow down before you respond to any form of communication. Slow down and think about what you're saying. The next time you grab something to eat, I want you to slow down and think about what you're eating, and I want you to enjoy bite by bite what you're eating. Slow down when you knock off one of those goals and you accomplish something. Before you bust off to the next one, slow down and celebrate. It's something I'm currently working on. 'Cause I'm a spontaneous get, get, get, go, go, go. But I'm gonna practice this and I want you to do it too, to slow down. Civility intelligence.
