Getting hired at Stryker, the medical device company known as the "Cadillac of sales," takes seven or eight interview rounds while you're still working full-time. The killer is a 20-30 minute Gallup phone screen that's pass-fail and robotic, and hiring managers can't override it.

The most challenging sales interview process I've ever had was by far breaking into med device and Stryker. If you've not heard of Stryker, they're considered the Cadillac of sales and one of the most prominent med device companies. But to get in the door, first off, you had to know somebody. Second off, it's like interviewing for a CEO job. You have 7 or 8 rounds of interviews, and it's extremely mentally and physically exhausting, especially while you're balancing another full-time job. You have to reference check, you have to meet all these different people within the division, you have to really network and meet all these other reps in addition to those 7 or 8 rounds. And one of the hardest parts, if you know, you know, is the Gallup interview, where it's a very robotic, awkward 20 to 30 minute conversation on the phone, and it's a pass/fail. If you don't get by it, it doesn't matter. The manager has nothing they can do to get you in the door. So phenomenal company, 40 straight years of revenue growth, and I'm glad I have it on my resume, but it was brutally Hard. What was the hardest sales interview you've had?
