How many hours a week should I plan on putting in when I'm just starting a business? In this last company before we sold, I used to joke with my team when they asked me to do something, I say, I'll get it to you by end of day. And end of day for me was 7:59 AM the next day. So if I needed to stay up and finish something, a proposal or whatever it is, I did. I don't believe you can start and grow a business working 40 hours a week. It doesn't have to be 80 hours a week every time, but it's going to be north of 50. Be prepared to put the time.
