Feras Alhlou visits the Hart Senate Building to urge viewers to travel to Washington DC and meet their elected officials in person. He frames direct advocacy as a core part of participating in democracy.
So here in the Hart Senate Building in DC, if you get a chance to come to DC and meet with the elected officials, you should do that. This is your civic duty. Whatever cause you believe in, sometimes it requires us to come out and spend money to travel and meet people and be away from work. But if you believe in the cause, whatever the cause is, you gotta come out and advocate for it. No one else will advocate on your behalf. This is the beauty of democracy.
