Freelancing is a valid business model, but it has a ceiling. You can run solo indefinitely, taking direct client work and keeping all the money. To hit six or seven figures consistently, you need to hire people and build systems. A one-person operation doesn't scale.
Why is freelancing not the same as building a business? Because freelancing is a business, not to take anything away from freelancers. It's a choice. Is it just me, myself, and I? I don't have to worry about employees, contractors, payroll, all that hassle. No, just me. I have clients, I take care of them, they pay me, I'm happy. That's a lifestyle. That's a business style. That's one mode of operation. But that same model does not scale. There are a few exceptions, but for the rest of us, if you want to have a business that's going to grow and scale to 6, 7, 8 figures, just you by yourself is not going to cut it.
