The Mentor - Day 9

Melanie Ann Layer leads a mentorship session with Mercy, Delphine, and Tara on personal growth and business. They discuss embracing duality, overcoming internal resistance, and breaking hierarchical thinking in entrepreneurship through shared vulnerability and community support.
Sam.
I am a business artist and I have people become wildly successful at their own craft. We are revolutionizing entrepreneurship.
Foreign.
Gorgeous human beings of the mentor program. I hope you're doing well today. Today we have a couple of people that are coming in first for mentorship. We're going to start with that and then I have a awesome piece that I want to draw for us. This is going to be an awesome module. I'm very excited about it. So first and foremost, we've got Delphin that's going to be coming on with us again. And then we have someone you haven't seen before, Tara, who is going to be on next. So let's start with Delphin. When you're ready. Come on up.
Beautiful Delphin.
You caught me eating Melanie.
I hope it's delicious. It is. Hi. Hi.
I had a major breakthrough I shared in the group this morning, so I just wanted to thank you. It's not what I wanted to reflect on, but just I wanted to start by saying thank you. I shared this in the group. If you guys want to see it all make sense with our two first conversations.
Thank you.
What I would like to discuss today is I recently started some inner work on the. On my shadows, on parts of me that I don't allow myself to express. I kind of knew they were there. I just didn't know what they were, those parts. And I could feel I wasn't really fully expressing myself. I just didn't know what I was hiding. Why or don't know why. I have uncovered some of them and for some reason I thought it would be easier to overcome them. But no. And I have this. I have this resistance that comes and it says, but if you want to hide them, that's for a very good reason. Don't want to be that girl, that woman. I like the angry me, the judgmental me, the frivolous me, the hard to please me, you know? And so I don't want to be her. I don't want to be that. So I'll just hide it and that would be perfect. I won't be those things, you know? And I'm having a hard time understanding how you can actually accept who you are, be who you are, and also evolve, grow into the better version of you.
Yeah.
So, like, it doesn't make sense.
If I want to be a better.
Version of me, I just have to suppress them. I just have to hide them. You know, I'm kind of stuck in that energy of, no, no, no, don't let them in. Don't let the tiger out.
Okay. This is so good because I can tell that a lot of people in the program feel this. Like, so there's so many. Like, I can relate. I know exactly what you mean. Like, yes. Oh, my gosh, Me too. Same thing. This is. This is a big piece for me when I realized a lot of people, most everybody, let's just go here. Everybody knows who they are at their worst. We know our jealous person, our frivolous person, our angry person, are all the. All the versions you named. We all know ourselves as that. We. We've met ourselves there, but we don't all get to meet the most powerful version of ourselves. We don't all get to meet the strongest, wisest, richest, most enlightened, awake, aware version of us. And most of the time, we don't get to meet those because we're so preoccupied by the fact that the other part of us exists. So instead of. And this is why we were talking about duality yesterday, instead of saying, like, I can still go here, I can still be mad, I can still be hard to please, I can still be frivolous, but I am working on discovering this side of me. And most people will say, until this side is gone, this side can never be. Like old paradigms need to die for others to be birthed. We say old paradigms don't need to die for new ones to be birthed. And so that means if I'm willing to sit with this side of me without making all the focus, changing this and pushing this and. And shutting this part of me out, if instead of focusing on this part only, and then I'll allow this part in, if I just start, I hold this. I know this of me, but I start cultivating this part, I'm going to grow. I'm going to grow. I'm going to grow. I'm going to grow. And the thing is, this is what I found, is that the key to this dissipating is this. So if I wait till this is dead to bring this in, I never get to the. I never get to the magic. Because the fact is, this is the one that helps me bring the peace. And so I need to be able to say, I walk with these shadows. They're there. My focus is being the greatest part of me, the version most people never find. And as I hold the duality of both at the same time, one day, this power helps me heal this part of me. But I won't heal this part of me without the strength. The strength is required for this. So the first step is to not try to diminish this one or hide this one, or hate this one, or shame this one, but rather work on discovering this part, because it's with this side that I'm going to be able to heal. The other part.
Thing is it, again, duality. It feels kind of liberating to express those parts, which is scary. At the same time, I've had.
A.
Petty fight with my boyfriend, something very ridiculous. And I shouted for the first time since we've been together for three years. And since a very long time, I heard myself shout really loud, like, I will not tolerate this.
I felt so good.
And on the other end, I was. It feels good. But am I sending myself the message that I should just do it more often? But I don't want to be that tiger. I don't want to end a dispute. I don't want to end an argument by just shouting. You know, I don't want to be that person. And on the other end, it felt. It felt really good. Like something. I let go of that. I let go of something in that moment.
I get that.
And it's. It's scary. It's scary because it was good.
You know, this is the other thing. Shouting is one thing. Shouting at someone is another. And so where. When you realize, like, it feels good to let my anger out, where can I do that? Where it's not harming someone else. Because there's a difference between shouting and shouting at someone. It's actually, like, universal difference. And so conflict is important. I think it's healthy to have a certain level of conflict in life. Like, it creates energetics, you know, like, it. It's not possible to. To get mad at something you don't care about. So, you know, the people that you love, there's conflict because you care. But the way that you navigate the conflict shows a respect and a love and a safety inside of their relationship. And so it's okay to have conflict. It's also okay to scream. The question is, do you want to be screaming at your partner? And that might be the place. So you may be finding out, like, it's actually very good for me to scream. Maybe it's something where I need to find a peak, a high mountain that I can drive up to sometimes and just scream at the top of my lungs, you know, and be like a wild woman. Maybe that's part of my liberation. But screaming at him, there's something about it that doesn't feel like I don't like who I am. When I'm screaming at him, but I like who I am when I'm screaming. You know, you were never going to avoid conflict, but you can choose who you're going to be in the conflict. And when you realize that something feels good, well, it feels good, but maybe not, you know, like, there's a difference between it feels good to punch. And though people go kickboxing and they learn to kickbox versus they start to punch their partner, it's okay to scream. It feels good to climb your arms wide open, you know, freaking naked on a cliff and scream the place down. But does it feel. Is it right to scream in your partner's face? Not so much. So it's like finding those. Those ways that your body wants to express itself, but putting it in an environment where someone isn't receiving the impact of it.
Makes perfect sense.
Because I feel like if you. If you shared as part of your process that you go and you scream, a lot of people might try and find liberation in that. You know, like, there's nothing shameful about screaming, but screaming at someone you love, something feels off about that. Yeah. So it's like, this part feels good, this part doesn't. So instead of repressing the whole thing, it's saying, okay, well, this actually feels good for me. So where can I let myself do that? You know, even if it means, like going to sports sporting events where you're allowed to scream at this at the tv, you know, if it's like concert. A concert, yeah. Like, take yourself places where you can scream. Like, notice those body. Those body things that feel really good to you and then take them in an environment that's conducive to that.
Did you find that as you were climbing the mountain, you, like, the energy in the body was more and more important because it feels like most people start with in their heads, and the more they climb, the more they need to nourish the energy that's in their body. A lot of successful people hire sports coaches and really dedicate some time and to be in their body because. Body, sorry. Because it's really part of growing and climbing higher. Is this something you've experienced?
To me, like, the. The major part of what I focus on is energetics. And the energetics are based on emotions and frequencies that I feel. And so if I feel them, they have to do with my body. Anything I feel has to do with my body. And so logic was very much about the mind. The plan was about the mind. And then the energetics and the emotions are all body things. And so for me, it has become very much so about how I feel more than any other thing. So when you find something that works for you but also makes you feel bad, it's like, okay, don't take the whole thing away. Don't be like, oh, my gosh, I just screamed for the first time and that's wrong. And so I must never do that again. It's like, oh. But it felt right. Oh, my God, I'm an awful person. I screamed and it felt good. Oh, my gosh, what's wrong with me? I need to shut the whole thing down. It's like, no, hang on. So screaming feels good. Screaming at him feels bad. I keep a part of that. I heal the rest.
Thank you.
It is my pleasure. Thank you for that. I feel like that was very liberating for a lot of people. Thank you for that. All right, our next person up is the beautiful Tara.
You're here. How do I get you in? Hello.
Hi. Hello.
Hello. Bonjour, everyone. Oh, my gosh, my heart is beating so fast. Okay, so first of all, just to calm myself. My intention of being here is just to feel spirit support and assistance for the highest good and whatever it's meant to come forward. I have my ideas and then I have that space of surrender, like, okay, God, take over.
Hi. Hi, everyone.
And I want to thank Delphine and Briana and Andrea and I think it was Jackie that came on. Just everybody that's allowed themselves to be visible because it's a big deal. It really is. And Melanie, I also want to thank you. I'm brand new to your world. Trademark Masterclass was my first. Like, where has this woman been? Come on. I've been around a while. Like, how did I miss this? So thank you. Thank you for everything you've had to go through and grow through in order to be where you are. Because for me, what feels most present to share is this conversation about duality and this. Again, I'm going to do my best to articulate this. I started my business in 2008 and I grew really quickly.
Yes.
My first six figure month was in May of like 2011 and cash received. And it was my first event. You know, I launched my $20,000 mastermind. I had 38 people in the room. We had nine sign up. I was like, what is happening to my life? My mentors at the time were like, no, that's not possible. Ok. This is what's happening in my world. This is what's happening. We moved to France. All of these amazing things. I Mean, I have so much gratitude for everything that I've already experienced, experienced. And I. I grew quickly. And, you know, I've been really looking at this over the past few weeks of where did I start to hold back? Where did I start to plateau? Where did I get to the point on the mountain that I was like, hold on. Because when I hear you talk about the duality and the opposite side, right? The. The pain, the experience. I've been through so much of what you're saying in the business. People copying me, clients defaulting, clients coming back and saying they didn't get what they asked for and being so afraid, like, in my consciousness and in my heart, like, oh, my God, what did I do wrong? And then seeing, oh, they only attended two calls out of 20. Like, there's just been so much growth. And then also on the personal side, you know, my firstborn son died in my arms when he was an infant.
I thought.
And that's what started all my entire business. It was that, okay, let's be real. It's not like this, right? It was a full year of like, who am I? What do I stand for? What do I do? How do I. I'm shaking even saying it. And, you know, it's a while ago, but thank you for the permission because yesterday, you honoring the sadness that was there. It's like all of us have these moments, you know, that just these gorgeous, defining moments that give us this choice of what direction are we going to choose to go. And for me, in that moment, in that year when I started Elegant Fam, it was asking the how, not, not the why. It was the how am I going to choose to move through this? So I built my business from that space of. Of healing, like, everything I created. And my 40th year, when we were living in France, it was the last time I remember being so on my edge with creation. I launched my fashion line. We had a fashion show in Paris on the Runway. I mean, I felt like, what is happening? We moved to Italy for three months with the boys. And that year I also did my first IVF cycle and I got pregnant. And everything was like, baby measuring perfectly. Like, tested all the chromosomes. Like, Dr. Had just said, look, the 97% chance that you're going to have a healthy pregnancy. Reserved my VIP room to deliver at the American Hospital of Paris. It's like, oh, my. The height of everything that I thought was possible. And at the beginning of that next January, I miscarried that baby and I really delivered it in my. And not to be overly graphic but to just give permission to feel the duality. I delivered that embryo in my hands and I was shocked at the amount of grief and pain that I felt. Given I had lost my first full born son in my arms. I didn't think anything could rock me. And it did to an extent that we ended up consciously with a lot of healing, a lot of love, a lot of beauty. Like I always go there. We ended up leaving Paris because I knew it was where my soul was calling. We went on a sabbatical. We moved here to the Outer Banks where my husband wanted to build the beach house. And we've been here for the past five years. And I recognize and I'm recognizing more. It wasn't just. I don't mean just right. The miscarriage was certainly a piece of it, but deeper what I'm feeling and resonating with is there's this fear of gosh, it goes so beyond a loss. There's a fear that I won't ever be able to co create again without the duality or the pairing of such extraordinary grief. And I feel like where I've been holding on to the mountain and not fully embracing my power is. Is maybe that maybe some sort of pairing that even like Elegant Famine, the growth and the success that we had was based on. Based. The healing opportunity was the loss that I experienced. And there's a piece of me inside that's like God, I don't want to just grow that way. And I know, Melanie, I know I'm being called into a place of power that I haven't experienced. And yes, we've created $9 million. And that's beautiful. And it's still. And it's not about that, but it is about that because I can feel myself like withholding. Yeah. And anything that you might be able to share or with where you are on the mountain. I'm also a lot more peaceful inside that I'm. I'm grateful that I know that things have been the way they are for a reason. I have was at a point where I'm like why the fuck am I still right here on the mountain? Like what is happening? You know? So I've done done that. I've judged myself. I've all the things, all the things. And I just. With divine timing, with grace, I'm ready for that fuller yes with that. No matter what. I don't want to rush it. I just want to gift myself permission to say the yes that I know I'm capable of without the pairing or expectation of what that might mean. Yeah.
Okay, first of all, like, holy. Like, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
So one of the things that really stood out, stood out for me and your share is the mentors that said, that's not possible. And I feel like that for us is a huge block. Like, I remember the first time I sat with a mentor that told me, that's not possible. My business halted for, like, two and a half years.
What came true with you saying that? To interject really quickly because I'm now shaking because we're at 9 million. Ish.
Yeah.
The very first mentor I had when I was creating my fashion line before any of the coaching.
Yeah.
She came into my office and I had a check written for $10 million for Elegant Femme. And they were trying to create a reality show. So they were in that energy of, like, let's see if we can mock her and have her break, which I didn't understand. And they picked up that $10 million check and they said to me, this will never happen. They were laughing about it. It was like they were trying to get a response. They had cameras going. And I didn't realize till you said that right now that I have been, like, teetering. I'm talking about teetering for 14 years is not fully, like, six years, where I'm, like, not just plateauing, but, like, pulling myself back. And I.
Okay, this is huge because of all, like, you've said a lot of things that got me in my feels for you, but that gave me the spidey sense, you know, when you're like, there's something there. Because I remember I sat across the table from a mentor that literally said to me at that time I wanted to charge $5,000 a month for my private coaching. And when I shared that, the mentor was like, okay, well, that's never going to happen. People don't even pay me that. And it. And I was like, oh, you know, so it's like, when a mentor that we really. It's like, I need you to see that I can do this. Yeah. Because I'm looking at you, and they say, well, you can't. Something happens. And so that's why I'm really. I'm building us as a brigade of people in their power so we don't do that to people.
Yeah.
And like, the big thing is, historically, businesses were built on hierarchy, which means you can't do more than I've done. I've been there longer. I'm the most advanced. I'm the wisest. But really, I think we'll make this industry last a lot longer. When we say may the student out earn the mentor, may that be. Because shouldn't that be really, if we're thinking about it And I am part of a lineage where that's the fact that's the case. Like, you know, my coach, when I first started with a coach and I hired Amanda, Amanda had overpassed her mentor Kat and I overpassed Amanda and, like, it always felt very open for me that the next person that would do better than me that would probably be one of my clients. And that's cool. That's so cool. Because isn't it to be like, you're going to know all of your wisdom plus all of mine, which will make you superhuman. Like, isn't that what we're aiming for anyway? But for people who are afraid that they're going to lose their spot, they'll say things like that. And so I am here to declare loud and proud that you are going to hit that $10 million real fast now. Like, I think really fast. And I hope you text me when that happens because I am going to celebrate the heck out of that with you because you are so able to do that. Like, you are so, so able. And not just 10 million. Like 10 million a year.
Yeah.
Yeah. And so I think it's like surrounding yourself also with the people who believe that for themselves, have seen it happen, believe it. Like, I'm so grateful you found me through trademark because in my world, the sky isn't even the limit. Like, you're going to stop. There'll be no limits here. Anything you see, you'll be like, I can have that anselm.
Yeah. And I feel that's part of what I really resonated with and thank you so much because as much as I know that we. That we don't need someone else to validate us, it feels so extraordinary to feel you see me that way. Not as an over attachment, as a. Yeah. As a self recognition. And to be honest with myself because I'm sure that this is holding me back as well. I know there have been places inside me where I've been afraid of my own clients surpassing me because I felt like. And again, that's not a proud piece. But again, looking at the duality for myself and taking full ownership of where have I inside felt I would lose. Lose my power? Where have I bought into the misunderstanding that I would lose my power if that happened? And unconsciously, unintentionally or intentionally, energetically held that back from really allowing that truth that all that power, that non threatening energy of like, yes, this is because we've been, this is abundant. Yeah, yeah.
But we've been taught to fear that because of the hierarchy, like, you lose your place if someone surpasses you. Instead of, what are we, we're just building a big old pyramid. If it's not possible for people that are new to overpass, that's not what we're doing here. We're going for pure untapped potential. We're going for complete potentiality. We're going for. It makes no sense. There's no lines, no timelines, no limits, no higher key, no rhyme, no reason. So it should be chaotic in the results. It should be someone that came in yesterday overpasses everyone with no reason. We need that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that I can see, also detaches us from the proving energy of it's okay for me to be here because I have X, Y, Z, W, like built up this reason. And it can put us in the energy of allowing. Like, let's go, like, allow, allow, allow. And it also reminds me of something I heard you say that was really impactful of. Stop trying to be the best and be one of the best. And I just felt so much freedom in that that there isn't this like holding on to a position on the mountain.
Yeah.
You know, and I feel like that's been a part too, of like, how do I just hold on or establish that? I mean, I know I'm ready and I'm not because I don't know exactly. But I'm ready to say yes to the fullness of the divine unknowing and whatever that looks like. And thank you for being me.
Like, this is so good. Like so good. Because this is the other thing too. Like, let's say. So let's say Amanda's coach, Cat. So Amanda Francis, Katrina Ruth, these are people I'm talking about. So let's say Katrina Ruth is the top person. She's making all of this. She. She starts coaching Amanda Francis, Amanda Francis comes in, starts making more money than Katrina Ruth. If Katrina Ruth goes from being the best to not the best, that sucks. But if she goes from being one of the greats to one of the greats, she's lost nothing. As a matter of fact, she's gained because one of her clients has just become a multimillionaire, then Amanda is the best. And then Amanda Francis is the best. And then I come in and then Amanda is no longer the best. That sucks. But if Amanda was always one of the greats and cats. Always one of the greats. And I come in, and I'm one of the greats, and we're also one of the greats. And then you come in one of the greats. You're already one of the greats. Oh, Cat La Teresa. Yeah, she. She changes her name back and forth, but Katrina Ruth, Cat La Tours is the same person. And so let's say. So now, let's say you come in and you overpass us all. I'm still one of the great. So is Amanda. So is Cat. So are you. And then one of your clients comes in, surpasses us all. We are still the greats. But if all you hold on to is being the best, you're always needing everyone else to be less than you. How well can you really mentor them in that? Yeah, not very well. Clearly, based on what we saw your mentors do and what I've experienced my mentors doing with that mindset, there's a limit to how much they can do for us as clients.
Yeah.
But with this people in their power, no hierarchy. Stop stopping being so afraid of needing to be the best and being one of the greats and being so proud of that. Like, I am one of the ones who's walking this mountain instead of I'm the highest one. It's like there's so much freedom in that. And you can see an entire career, a body of work, a legacy, instead of this constant fight of who's doing better and who's coming to get what's mine. Such a different energy. So together we rise is a real truth when we see it this way. And so this gives you such a beautiful way also with your clients. It gives you such a healing way for you. And what it does is it also gives a lot of, like, compassion for the mentors who didn't know what we know, the ones who were so desperately afraid of people coming in and taking from them that they couldn't be what they were meant to be for us. They couldn't mentor us to their potential as mentors because they were so afraid of us.
Yeah. So compassion for them 100%. And I feel to me that this is a huge difference between the coach and the mentor, this kind of integration, because I feel like I got stuck in hanging out in the coach energy, which is just beautiful, and it's wonderful. And I didn't have the awareness of why I was starting to feel resentful and stuck and limited. And so this is. This is huge. Thank you. And thank you, everybody. I can't wait to read all the chats, but I didn't look yet because I don't want to be distracted, so I can't wait.
I'm so grateful that you brought this. This was like a huge share. I really want to, like, thank you for that because you came in and you gave us everything. You held back. Nothing, like so much vulnerability. Thank you for being so raw. I feel like you brought in a segment of this program that probably wasn't even gonna make it. So thank you for all of that, for everybody. That was an incredible share. Thank you so much. And I'm holding the vibes of even a 10 million dollar month because that's something I haven't even done. I don't even know how to do that, but I say you do. So, like, I'm holding vibes that you have a $10 million month there. Let's go.
Let's go, all of us. Let's go. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you so much. Mercy, you're so beautiful.
I love you. Wow. This is awesome.
Okay.
And this, I feel, works so well with what I actually have as a segment for you and a piece for you today. And we're going to have more shares. I'm realizing how much I love the live mentorship in here. Like, I think this is a. Just. There's nothing like it. Like, bringing this forward is so incredible because it's bringing things, like, next level things forward. And it's. It's also expanding what I want to say to, like, the next level. And so. And it feels like every time I've got something I want to say, somehow the mentorship is in perfect alignment with it. Like, this is just. This is just working for me. Let's put this. I'm having a very good time right now. Okay. So this, I want to talk to you about our story, because our story is something that we sometimes forget we're building. And this is something that has really helped me throughout my career understand the. The greatness of what it is that I'm doing. And it's so perfect because I'm going into this and I'm realizing I had a conversation with one of my private clients this morning, and when she hears this, it's going to actually take all our discussion to the whole other level. So this is the beauty about mentorship is it's all intertwined. And you realize it's like God, Mother Nature, the universe is just lining up the things so that you know what to do, what to say, how to be like, everything is Just connected. And eventually it just all makes sense. And it's like, of course. Of course I had this conversation this morning. Of course I manifested those two mentorship conversations in the call today. Of course. Of course. Of course. Of course. Of course. Thank you. Of course. So one of the greatest things about my teachings and what I think set me apart kind of early on in the game is that everything I teach comes with a story. There are verily, there is very rarely just a. This is the concept. And if I teach this is the concept, it's because I probably learned it somewhere, in which case I'm going to tell you where I learned it. So there's always a story. There's always a story. And what that does, what the story does, is it gives you what I call a calibration portal, which basically, it's like, if you can imagine that my every single one of my memories has this, like, energetic capsule. It's like I open it for you to come in and feel what I felt through the story. And so I'm not just giving you the lesson without context. I'm giving you the entire storyline for that. I have to be aware of the stories that I'm living. I have to be aware of the stories that I'm building. I have to be aware of what my life is. Because the truth is, when we are taking on this position as mentor, which is different than coach, we are actually creating a story. We represent something. It is like we are a character in the sands of time. Who we are is a legacy. We are a person that makes it through history for certain people, some people who are characters that make it through time make it through time in much bigger ways and far more impactful ways. The whole world knows their name. Like, Jesus is a character that we will never. We will speak of for the rest of time. You know, Moses is a character. We'll speak up for the rest of time. But then there are new people that have come in, like Bob Proctor and Wayne Dyer and Tony Robbins, and they. Although it's not in the same tangent and it's not in the same religious line, it's still in this other line of, like, we will speak about these people. They make it in the sands of time. There's people like Elon Musk and Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. They will make it in the sands of time. Warren Buffett, people who are people that are actually. They become more than just who they were as a human. They become a legend, a living legend. Oprah, like who you are in the sands of Time like you have shaped Marianne Williamson, they have shaped who they are. Like the sands of time, it's forever. And so what we want in our journey is to remember that there, yes, it has been a lot of men. If we're going to be very honest, there needs to be a lot more women in the sands of time. This is why I'm so excited about this work. But a lot of the people that make history have been men, because history has been in favor of men for a long time. But now we're in a new vibe. And yeah, there's Mary Magdalene that also has. And she's more in the spiritual realm, though. It's. She's less mainstream. Right. So when we're thinking, like, mainstream, knowing Marianne Williamson, Oprah, Gabby Bernstein, Louise Hay, like, there's. There's a few of them and it's fantastic. But there's a lot of space for. For women to. To break through. There's a lot of space for us. A lot, a lot. Jasmine. So we are not just being who we are in this moment. So when I am talking about now and later. Mother Teresa. Holy pickles, Mother Teresa. Right, so we have some women, there are more men, there are some women, but it is our job to continue that. And then there's also, like, in the fashion, right? So the Chanel, Coco. Chanel, like Chanel, there's so many different women that have done incredible things for the world. But our job is to continue that and to continue those legacies and to see ourselves not just as a person, but potentially as history in the making. Meryl Streep, you know, people who've, like, redefined things, who you'll remember, like this person, you know, Beyonce, like people who've done things for the world. That one name and you're like, oh, yeah, Whitney Houston. Names that shaped an industry, that shaped the world. Princess Diana, Jane Fonda. See, now there's loads of them. I love this. Let's keep doing this. Venus, Serena Williams. This is so good. So there are so many opportunities for us in our lives to become and queens. Queen Elizabeth, you know, you've got. We've got opportunities to be Margaret Thatcher. We have opportunities to be a legend in the making. And so if you haven't watched Seasons of Legends and you're in Alpha femme experience, I highly recommend Season of Legends. The difference between being a coach and a mentor is that it's like the profession versus the legend. And when you see yourself as a legend in the making, something magical happens. When you see yourself as history in the Making you make history if you just see yourself as a person and your person. But when you see yourself as a legend in the making, as history in the making, you change the way you look at yourself. You change the way you relate to yourself. You change the way you see. And so we all have a story, but if we're actively writing that story, we write it differently. When we let life just happen, and we're not really capturing it, we're just living for now. Now I feel good, Now I feel bad. Now I feel successful. Now I don't. Now I'm succeeding, now I'm not. Now good things are happening, now they aren't. When we're living just for now, we forget the part where we are actually building our story. And we are building our story. I have so many little pieces of the story of Melanie Ann Layer, so many little adventures that support all of my teachings, my knowledge, my breakthroughs. But there's also the overarching, like the biography, the autobiography of me from birth. And so when we're in those stories, sometimes it feels like, why is life happening to me? But if you zoom out any person of importance in the world and you take away all the things they've had to go through, like, what's their story? It's the fact that they've overcome. It's the fact that they've been all that they've been. The beautiful and the hard, the easy and the miracles and the things that took discipline and everything they had. It's a whole story. And so what has helped me really step into this mentor role is this understanding that it's a role that will be mine all my life and beyond my life. All my life and beyond my life now and later. And even after I'm gone, people will tell tales. If I continue to hold this legacy, I will have ripple effects in my life that I won't even live to see a lot of. If I really understand the power of who I am. And as I'm saying these words, like, let them land for you, like, this is the truth for you as much as it is for me. If I let myself be all that I can be, it's very possible that most of the magic I create occurs after my life here. Like, I changed the course of womanhood far more beyond my lifetime than for what I'll see in my living years. I might change the financial legacy of my family for the generations to come after me. More than what I'll even see in my lifetime. I might change the collective conversation of the world probably more so far after my life than during. And are we able to hold the desire to change things that we won't maybe even get to see? Or are we so tied up in that immediate gratification that if it's not now, it doesn't matter? And this is what we're seeing more and more of. If I can't see the result right now, I don't have the willpower to do it. If I'm not living the fruits of my labor right now, I quit. I'm not good enough. If things are hard right now, then I don't have the strength it takes to keep going. Because the evidence is showing me that it's not working. But when you see this, like, it's undeniable, it cannot be taken away from you. This is yours. This is your story. And it's going to take your whole life to write it. And the ups and the downs, they just create the greater story. Sometimes it will be effortless. Sometimes you'll need to be prove it. To prove it, are you in either way. And so you're going to do something great in your life. But if you're only limited by what you can see, then you'll do less. If you're willing to live your life like an iceberg and say, I will create something so beautiful that I can see, but I know that what I create will be far beyond that, underneath the surface, where I will never even get to see it. I will be the greatest. Where I change the world, where my ripple effect is the largest. I may never actually get to see it. May never see the light of day in my living room years. But I'm living for the story for now and for later, because we have no idea how long we've gotten. So if I'm only playing this game of immediate gratification and it's like only what I can see only at the speed I think it should be, only if it takes as long as I think it should. Only if it aligns on the timing that I think it should. We're an energetic match for far less of a legendary presence on Earth. Would you agree with if I'm only only willing to see it, to do it, if I can see it, to do it if it works, do it. If it's easy to do it, if it works. Now I'm an energetic match for far less of a legacy because it's just as long as. But the people who show up, like, let's make a story one for the freaking ages. Like, let's Change the course of this story world. Like let's go. What am I capable of? What if every story is a part of this biography? What if every little story changes me and the world? What if the context of this mentorship holds me to a standard I never even thought was possible? You're writing the book of your life, the movie of your life, the autobiography of your life. You're writing it and you have no idea when what happens. But when things happen, and they will, you write the story around it. You create the outcomes. But it's a co creation with the universe. You get a curveball. Now what? You get a heart wrenching pain. Now what? You get a celebration where you feel almost guilty for how easy it was. Now what? Everything you've always wanted just came true. Now what? Someone tells you you can't have what you want. Now what? Someone tries to shut you down or mock you for your big dreams. Now what? Someone puts you on a pedestal and doesn't allow you to be human because they need you to be perfect for them. Now what? The person you thought you'd be with forever is no longer your forever person. Now what? Now what? What's the next story? What's the next chapter? What's the next thing without the time restriction? Because the time restriction is what we do when we forget we're legends in the making. Because being a legend means what you do till the end. What are you going to do till the end? If it's just now, just this week, just this month, just this year, you're not working on a legendary status, you're working on a career. And career is the coaching industry. Mentorship is not a career. Mentorship is not a career. Coaching is a career. Mentorship is a vocation. It's something that you are. And so you will be a mentor always. So what do you want to do? What do you want to learn? What do you want to do? What do you want to say till the end? Even if at the end of your life, you are not mentoring one on one, what you are doing is you are writing books and you're 87 years old, sitting in a beach house writing your seventh book, that's a New York bestseller, you're still a mentor. This is a vocation. It's going to change. The iteration of it is going to change. Whether you're coupling it with coaching or not will change. Whether you're launching things every month or not will change. But the fact that you're a mentor will not. This is your identity and so it could Be that this puts on a lot of pressure. It could also be that this removes a lot of pressure. Now what? This is your story. It's the story of the moment you decided that you were not supposed to have a career in a box where someone else told you how much you were meant to make. Is the moment where you realize you were part of a select few people that were meant to build a legacy or that you were meant to come together with someone who's building a legacy and you're more of a team player for a huge project that you're, like, together or that you're like, the one or whatever it is. Like, it's your story. It's that moment in life where you realize you're ready to do this or that or you don't want this or that, even though you always thought you would. It's the moment you walk towards something you never thought you would, or walk away from something you never thought you would. Is the moment something you thought would be there forever is taken away. It's that moment where you're faced with something you would never, ever think you'd have to face. And now what? Now what? Now what? And those lessons that you learn make you so wise, but they're your story. So what we forget is that at this point in time, you actually have a story already. And for some people, you might look at that story and be like, it's a very depressing story. This is actually a really sad story. So far, the whole story is really bad. So now what? For some of you, you might be like, this is actually a really boring story. There's not been much eventful things. Like, it's all very simple. Okay, so now what? Have you ever watched a movie with a slow beginning that turned out to be so freaking good at the end? Yes. Have you ever watched a movie that was so sad at the beginning and ended up being so freaking inspiring at the end? Yes. Have you ever watched a movie that was, like, so great in the beginning and then so scary in the middle and then so good at the end? Yes. Which movie is yours going to be? It's like every day we decide the direction, and then life throws us curve balls and throws us unexpected things that change where we thought we were going with the story. And now what? And now what? And now what? So I would love for you to think about who you are in this story of yours. What are the parts that have shaped you into being who you are, whether they were good or not? Like, that's a really good Story, all of it. I would love for you to write your story till this point. Just know that this is the beginning. Everything you write up until this point is the prelude. Because the now what is occurring now. Now what? Now what? Whether you want to go do something bold and crazy that makes no sense, that could wreck it all, and you're terrified. Okay, then let's see what happens now. What if it means you hide somewhere and do something that no one expects and do, you know, scale back and leave something everybody thought you'd do forever? Okay, like in the big scheme of things, the story is the legacy. We're just a human. People won't remember every little part of us. They'll remember the story. The story is the legacy. The lessons, the turns in the road, the sharp turns in the road that you didn't expect. That's the legacy, how you live the story. Because two people could live the exact same story and tell it entirely differently. Your story, the way you live it, the way you do it, the way you remember it, the way you express it, the way you connect to it. Your story and every little thing, every little twisting little piece in the road that guides you to where you're going. So we're human. That's not going to stop, even if we're mentors. It's just that we become two things. A human and a legend. And so our job is to be kind to the human being that we are as we leave for the world. A legendary legacy because all these incredible people. Oprah uses the bathroom in the morning sometimes, gets a pimple on her face, sneezes, farts, has bad breath in the morning. Like, she's a human and she's a freaking legend. That's the thing. Mother Teresa still got annoyed at things, had headaches, probably had periods and had to, like, wipe. But also, she changed the world because she was a human with all human functions. She needed to eat, sleep, poop. And that's not at all what we remember when we think of her. There is nothing about her humanness. That is what the legacy is about. But she had to walk with both. We have to walk with both. But that's not what stays even. Marilyn Monroe, who was put on a pedestal by so many people, like, she had every single human bodily function every other woman has on earth. But she was a sex icon. You think people imagined her on the toilet? No, that's the last place they imagined her. They imagined her in the shower, perfectly naked, glistening with water, maybe like, oh, look, this person she goes from in the Shower naked to. In a. In some sort of lingerie, and then she goes to sleep in high heels with her makeup on. Is probably what most people imagine, but. No, sure not. But we don't think about the human when we're committed to thinking about the legend. So all of those sexy poses on the toilet, legs crossed, you know, like, we don't even think about the humanness of people. But every legend is also a human. It's just. That's not what the legacy is. The legacy is the stories. So as you're going through your human moments, they don't take away from your magic. Your humanness doesn't take away from your magic. It makes your magic even greater because you're human, like all of us, except you're doing something legendary. That's actually what's so extraordinary about this work. What's extraordinary about this work is not that we're not human and we're special. What's incredible about this work is that we're human. Like, we're all human, except we're also legendary. And that is like, oh, I can forgive myself for so much in this, and I can write the story so much more powerfully this way. Because really, what we're doing in these stories is we're creating calibration portals for anyone to step into my humanity. Your humanity, My legend. Your possibility. Your legend, my possibility. So as you walk through this duality and mentorship of your human life, of your sadnesses, your disappointments, your heartbreak, your limits, your disappointments, your anger, your shortcomings, don't forget that those things were always going to be there on the journey to your excellence. It's not one or the other. It's the fact that you walk with both. Everyone knows what their worst looks like. Very rarely do people find out what their best looks like. Hold both. So if you want to sit with yourself today and write the most beautiful, powerful story about life up until now, see yourself not just as a human, but as a legend already, as a legacy already. If it were to all end already, you would already have a story. And now what? Get yourself to the point where you're on the leading edge of the next chapter of your own story, walking with the legend and the human at the same time. Because mentorship is truly about that. It's not a career, it's a vocation. You don't stop being an actor in life. When people talk about actors that are long gone, they're still actors. It's a vocation. Unless they only dabbled. Unless they only did it for a short minute, unless they only did it in. In their town on a stage, and it was like, not their full thing. But if they dedicated their life to it and they became known in the world, it's a vocation. It's who they are. The world knows their legend as the actor forever. And that is. That is what we have available as the mentor. Dedicated my life to this. Like, there's not a lot of people who dedicate their life to their craft. That's not called the career. It's called a vocation. So we have this legacy, this legendary, magical story in the making. And when we zoom out bigger than just what's feeling right now, what's happening right now, Our client's saying yes to me right now. How much does that even really matter? In 20 years from now when the whole world knows your name, that, like, in May of 2022, maybe you didn't have as full of a client roster. Like, unless you make that a part of the story, how much will it even matter? You create the story, you direct the story, and you're the main character. So what now? What next? So stay with that, Play with that, and don't make yourself wrong for however your story feels at this point, if it feels like it was so good and now you're in a low spot, great. A lot of good stories do that. If it feels like nothing great has happened yet, great. A lot of good movies do that. If it feels not good enough, great. A lot of movies start that way. Like just now. What? Let's get ourselves there. Thank you to the two shares that I feel work, like, the most perfectly with this conversation today. Thank you. Thank you for all being here. I'm so grateful. You guys are amazing. I love you so much. I'm gonna see you again tomorrow. Isn't it great? You don't have time to miss each other even. It's like, tomorrow. I'll see you tomorrow. I love you. Thank you for being here.
