One of the most important lessons I've ever learned about leadership is to be curious, not confrontational or judgmental. And just like we do with clients with that unconditional positive regard, it has to be authentic, right? And so being mindful to not be curious in a condescending way or a patronizing way, but like truly what's blocking me from curiosity? Maybe it's my own fear that if things don't get done, I'm going to get sued, I'm going to lose my whole practice, right? Like our anxiety and tension comes from our own fears. Clinicians and people who work with you for you are also operating from similar fears. So can we humanize that and really approach it from a place of ideally unconditional positive regard, which can still have boundaries and firmness and clarity, but compassion and empathy as well?
