Day 10 - Visual Design Skill Booster 100 Day Challenge

Jagdish teaches visual design fundamentals, showing how it differs from UI design. The session covers hierarchy, consistency, typography, and color theory with live Canva demonstrations for creating visual content.
In. In 30 seconds we'll be going live, guys. Yes. So go to my stream, YouTube Live and I'll also be pasting you the link below.
Okay.
And yes, so everybody can follow this link, okay. And they can able to type out their comments and chats, everything. So I've also given people to come for becoming panelists. So please do accept that. And then only you can able to come here. If I see you live, then the. Then I'll be able to ask you certain doubts and questions and have you understood or not? So that will be a very different game. Okay? That's the reason I'm asking you to come for. Okay, cool, fine. Yes. So we can start this session. Just a second. Yeah. Everyone. Okay. Welcome guys. Welcome to this day 10 of the skill booster session. We have a very important phase to move now.
Okay?
So each and every day we are seeing a lot of skills like let's say sketching, we are seeing wireframes, we are seeing, seeing a design process, we are seeing methodologies and all these things. So today let's understand the visual design of it. See, many people when I say visual design, they only think about ui. No, that is not visual design. User interface is a place where you create an interaction with the user. That's it. It's as simple as that. There is a misconception to be first clear with all the students.
Okay?
So guys, please switch on your camera, come forward. So the point here is UI is actually called user interface. Like let's say I am interfacing with you through words through mouth, right? I'm interfacing with you through the mouse. This is how I interface. This is. This is nothing to do with graphics or visuals or anything. That this is a separate thing.
Okay?
So first of all you need to understand this. It's not only about the voice. It's not only of the interaction, it's also about other forms of interaction. What we do, the body language, the non verbal communication, the kind of energy what I. What you call emit when I talk with the person. So everything gets you connected with a product or service based on that.
Okay?
Oh, just a second guys. I'm sorry. Maybe perhaps that could be the reason you guys are not able to do it. Okay, fine.
Okay.
Okay, good. I did it. Take it now. Now I think you guys will be able to do it.
Okay.
Okay, good, good, good. Thank you for asking. Sorry, I forgot actually because we got a very, a higher zoom access now. So that's the reason. Just a second. Who else is there? A co host okay, Echo host. Yeah. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Please switch on, guys, because there is a new. There is a. What you call. There is a different energy when we all come together as a live and then we. Yes, Shantila, now you can switch on. Thank you so much.
Cool.
So the big misconception, what I was trying to clear is people understand that it's only about ui. That's the visual design, which is not correct. UI is a user interface. Visual design is something very different. Anybody can try to do visual design. Octopi, okay? Like let's say the light, what you're seeing, that's also a visual design. We have kept it in a way that it goes in an angle. It has got nothing to do with interface, okay? This is called visual design. Like let's say if we have something like let's say I have a foam in front of me, okay? This is a foam for sound absorption. I keep it near me because it absorbs a lot of sound, okay? It provides me a very balanced sound output for you guys, okay? So what happens is this foam could be flat also, right? This form could be flat also. But the reason why this form is kept in a, you know, in a, in a can, you see, some angles are kept here. It's not just for aesthetics, it is for functionality. Because when the voice goes inside, it travels along this curves and then it got observed, okay? Have you seen in the theaters, movie theaters and all? So the cushion is already there, right? So they will have some triangles, they will have some waves. So why they have kept it in that pattern is when something is getting repeated in front of our eyes, we see it as a beautiful thing. We tend to see it as a beauty. See, understand very carefully, this is a science of aesthetics and a lot of misconceptions people have towards it, okay? So when they see it, when you see it as a pattern, okay, when you see like a repeating equal number of patterns and it is arranged in a line, what we tend to see is, oh, this looks beautiful here. Oh, this looks like a line. Oh, yeah. You don't say this is beautiful, but you perceive inside your brain that this is super. It's natural, okay? It's quite natural to understand. Let's say if this square pattern is not here, it's somewhere randomly here, here, and then it's placed misplaced here and there. And it's not in a linear order. What you'll do is, oh, it's just something is chaotic. Come, something is not in order. So you will see that visual design not Good. You will see that visual beauty not aligning with your interest. Why? The reason is your eyes has been trained from your childhood to see lines, circles. See when you see these lines, the brick lines, it's a straight lines, right? It's a straight line. It's going when it is something like a theta mera, like here and there, some lines is there randomly. You will not feel it like a harmony. You will not feel it like a rhythmic flow of movement. So that is what will make us feel okay, this is not looking good. Same. Take your portfolios, take your projects, take your case studies.
Okay?
Meanwhile, I want somebody to share their live work. Like let's say if you have it in PPT or Miro or anything, please share it with me. Don't send your website because in website it is difficult to show that live. Because I want to also help you out to understand how we can able to do it in a more visual way.
Okay?
So that is the point. The reason being it is a huge difference between a visual design and a UI design. User interface design, okay? User interface talks with psychology, consumer behavior. How the user is requiring what kind of an interaction he can make, what kind of a feedback he can get. That is a whole new different subject. Please don't mix two things. Don't be a very amateur designer who tells I'm a UI designer, I'm a UX designer. Literally speaking, there is nobody called UI designer or UX designer the moment. If you're saying that it shows that you are very amateur, you are just now started learning design. That's it. You're not a very mature person. Because when you are a product designer, you have to see everything as a whole. You are a problem solver. UI is a very small part of it. Interface is actually a small part of it. Let's say if you have a headpiece like the headphones, like this. If you're trying to create a opening for the people to lift it here, this is an interface, right? For creating that interface, I have to keep a communication like a line. If I create a line, it separates that. So in that people can able to interact. See here the interface is little slotted. It's not a flat surface.
Why?
Because the light needs to be shown to me how much charge it is there. This is an interface, right? But this interface, I'm not able to interface, but my eyes and brain is interfacing with this to know how much charge is there. See, this is called user interface. Same like that. When you go to take your mobile phone, take Your take your batteries, take your percentage, take your. Whatever is your communication is happening in your mobile. It's an interface. It's a communication to you. It's a communication to you. It's a communication for you to take action. It is as simple as that, guys. So don't confuse between this visual design and UI design.
Clear?
Can we jump inside? Everybody is there with me. Type out GT if you got what has been discussed. Now type out GT in the chat box in YouTube. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Thank you guys. Thank you. Thank you. You can also go to the YouTube and do it. That would be ideally better. Here it is. Okay.
Okay.
So fine guys, before a second before that please go to your learning management portal and mark your attendance. Take points now because you guys are coming and attending this program. You should take an advantage and take 25 points. Yes.
Okay.
It will be disabled after 15 minutes. So do it now so that you get an advantage.
Okay?
So people are watching it live. This is a challenge which we have kept for all of our students whoever is coming early in the morning and attending the skills session. So they get 25 points in our gamification. So we do have something called level up.
Okay?
So people are having this learning management system. Courses completed, assignments completed. They will get a points, they will get a leaderboard and they get prices worth of one lakh. One lakh rupees at the end of this month.
Okay?
So that's the month end special. What we have. And people are really, really hardly working. And for your ch. For your information guys, yesterday we released a new quiz. How many of you have seen that? Very nice. Go and do it.
Okay.
And we have kept the question away that you have to do a descriptive answer as well as a objective answer. And I've created a challenge also. How many of you have seen the challenge? It is very difficult. Yes, yes, Faisal. But you get more points. You get more points. But that challenge cannot be done today. Every single day you have to do little bit do it, okay? It's a seven day challenge. Every day you have to check in and complete and upload and complete it then and only it will progress you. And the seven days, like let's say in the coming Monday, if you complete all of these activities and upload your proofs, you get bulk 500 points. It's a huge challenge. In fact, actually, sorry, 675 points you get. That is one of the amazing challenges, okay? It is called mastery of process. Yesterday we saw the design thinking, right? So that's called the Mastery of process when you complete it. And there is another two challenges, which, which is called level four and level five, which will come at the October 10th after date.
Okay.
Not immediately. You guys have to complete it before the next mission comes. And then there is something called AI mastery.
Okay?
You should become a pro in using AI.
Okay.
There is another mastery called job Application mastery, which is called the Codex Mastery. So ultimately, if you're applying for that job and then if you're having that assignment done, it'll be a super breakthrough for you and you get huge points over there. End of that mission, you will also be getting a wonderful job which is 10 or 12 LP or whatever goal you have written.
Okay?
So be excited to play that. And also you are going to get lot of gifts and benefits for this as well. Got it? Fine. Let's go back. Okay, so mark your attendance. First, just to recap, in the day one we saw sketching, rapid ideation, wireframe sketching, seeing the unseen designer's presentation, choosing the right problem statement, matching user goal and business goal. Yesterday we saw design process. Today we're going to see visual design. Very important. Okay, Just listen. Cool.
Okay.
So in visual design there are a lot of aspects, guys, first of all, let me tell you. See, mastering the design, it is very important. But mastering the visual design, why it is very important is this is how the user gets the first attraction for your projects. This is the very first glance which people are seeing your products, right? Like let's say when you design a physical product or a digital product or anything, this is the first look inside. How functionally it is, how much battery backup it is having, how super the sound quality is coming. People will expect that also. But a lot of your purchasing and buying decision comes from only visuals, right? Majorly, I'll also explain the science behind it. Okay, first of all, let me make it very clear, guys. If you make your first impression really good, it creates a huge impact. Creates a very good professional flow. Also second, it communicates that you are more aesthetically aligned. I've told you the example of aesthetics now. Order, pattern, rhythm, harmony. See, these are all very deep subjects in each and every word. Okay, Maybe in the coming forward days, we'll also teach about rhythm for one day. This is an amazing activity, guys. You guys can do it. In earlier batch, what we had is we did a rhythm, composition and harmony exercises for three hours continuous. Full stretch. We did. We learned a lot of things. But to be very nutshell, to give you a small nutshell, this is actually called composition. You you are seeing, right? Your portfolio is not looking good. Your portfolio is here and there arranged, not looking really good. You are making lot of changes in your. Let's say, even if you're a video editor, composition is very important. Even if you're a photographer, composition is very important. Particularly if you are product designer, you should understand the deep meaning of what is composition. Composition is not English composition. Guys, this is very different.
Okay?
Aesthetics.
Okay?
So ultimately when you are working on your composition to arrange these elements carefully, then you can see some beautiful aesthetic pattern emoji.
Okay?
So you should know how to do it and it helps you stand out apart from the market, no doubt. And majorly it defines your personal style. This is the most most important I would say. See, this is what is going to create a unique identity for you. Are you guys understanding or not? Unique identity type out in the chat. If you understand this type you. Because uniqueness is very, very important in design. Ultimately if you are not having the personal style, people has to know this is what is did by you. In my office, when I present my works, the presentation, even when I help PPT for somebody else, my boss will know help you with this PPT because they know the visual style of me. I've created that visual style and I know exactly how people will get attracted to complex information into making it very simple. Even if 20 information is there, I'll be able to present it neatly in the screen and make it understandable.
Okay?
So that style needs to come in front of you. Misconception. I think I already covered you. It is not just aesthetics solving problem. It's not just looking good. It is also about presentation and how it is equally important. And when you take. When you take another misconception which is called people gets confused. UI is visual design. Very, very preliminary thought and very, very amateur way of thinking to understand and start your career with that's okay, but you have to move forward. Okay, so what are the key strategies to improve it? Let me tell you guys, first of all you have to master the fundamentals of typeface. What kind of a typeface families are there? Are you choosing serif based family? Are you choosing sans serif based? Are you choosing any mid aged for typefaces? Are you choosing classical kind of a typeface? Are you choosing decorative kind of a typeface? Even in my YouTube channel. YouTube. Sorry, YouTube channel. Guys, after this video I would highly, highly recommend you to go and watch one of my YouTube playlist called Typeface Basics. I have recorded seven videos in that. In fact, this is A wonderful thing. From starting to ending, we covered all the aspects of typeface. Anybody who's there in our program can go and watch it. It's available for public also. Okay, in. In 30 minutes, into seven, how much in two and a half hours or three hours, you can able to grasp all the basics of typhus. We covered everything. In fact, we have covered some AI tools also in typhus. How to do a font pairing. How many of you know what is font pairing? You can create a visual font padding in your design works in order to make it seamlessly work. Like let's say in your screen. If you have some font here and there randomly placed, do you think people will be able to. People will be able to relate to your work. They'll feel some randomness happening. So you should know how to use the font which is more relative and looks like a family. Okay, that's very important. So you need to understand this guys. Okay, so ultimately what we have also did it is we have covered some of the basic elements. We have covered some of the basic elements. How you guys can learn and master this typefaces. Okay, next is color. Color theory is very important and you should know what is meant by primary colors, secondary colors, tertiary colors, how to use the accent colors carefully and how you can use color wheel to your advantage to find out the complementing colors, split colors. So these are all the elements, which is basics. Then you have to know what is mean by grid. Then you have to know what is meant by hierarchy. See, these are all very deep subject guys. But I'm telling you, these are all the basics you can start learning. Because when you take visual design, I can tell you broadly what is required. It's you, it's your responsibility to go and learn each of these elements. In the day forward we'll teach you, but it is not required. It's not a. It's not like Jagdish will come and teach you. You should also take responsibility to learn all of these topics because each and every topic is a very, very deep subject for one year. Also you can learn typography. There is no stoppage. Then most important, consistency. See, when you're using this colors, when you're using this typeface space, anything if you're not using it consistently. I just told you an example, right? If the consistency is not maintained, you will not see this as a beautiful thing. Something random is going on in your scene, right? Same like that. Look at your portfolio very carefully. Right now your portfolio looks very misaligned. It's because of this only reason very simple, I'm just making it very one point consistency. If you're using a very clear consistency in your graphics, in your behance and in your portfolios, in your website, whatever. Look at a very well established portfolios and website, very consistent elements they have, right? Use lot of white spaces. I will tell you why. See in this also while I'm presenting, I'm showing majority of the white spaces to you. If I keep it like a cramped something like this, do you think it's good even when I'm presenting? Yeah, for some reason, for some things to be pointed out, I can come and make it zoomed in. But ideally the reason why I'm also creating a presentation like this. Have you seen I will only present with this distance because the more white space you perceive, the better is for the people to have a visual breathing space. The more visual breathing space people have, they have much clarity on what content to focus on. Your website or your behance profile or something.
Okay?
The more focused they are, the better communication you are giving to the user. If only two option is there, two button, toggle up, toggle down, that's it. People will not be confused, right? And it's aesthetically beautiful also so that you keep one same button, one option, one option, that's it. Clear communication is also called visual design. Clear white space is also called visual design. Keeping consistency is also called visual design. Mastering all these things is also called visual design. So you need to get this clarity, okay? Just use the right tools. Whether you're using Canva or whether you're using Figma or anything, it doesn't matter. You should use the right tools for creating your visual design.
Okay?
So don't do everything on Figma. I think people are doing that in our program also don't use it like a rough note, okay? Figma is a very different tool. It's an interactive prototyping tool.
Okay?
PPT is there. Miro is there. Miro is a mind mapping tool. Canva is a poster creating or document creating or PPT creating tool. In fact, Canva now offers a variety of skills, variety of options to be done. So choose all these things. Canva will not take you more than a hour to learn. Guys. It's very very simple software. It's a non designer software. Particularly anybody who is weak in visual skills, I would highly recommend for start with Canva go to this Photoshop Illustrator and all. In fact Photoshop Illustrator people and all, they are getting lot of their work done in canva itself now 70 to 80% of the work Canva itself is doing. And that too, Canva is coming with a lot of AI enabled features. In fact, I'm going to show you a live demo also in Canva so that you can understand it.
Okay?
But after that, if you're becoming very proficient, See, the more deeper you go on a tool, the more lesser salary you will get. I'll repeat this. The more deeper you go on a particular software tool, what is the point in learning a tool very deeply? You have to learn the tool. Go for the next one. See, in the whole design process, tools is very, very small part of it. Any tool, whatever tool is coming. Like let's say if you're learning a tool called Hard Jar, Hard Jar is a beautiful tool. If you're learning a tool called Usability.com. if you're learning a tool called WCAG guidelines for aligning your website content accessibility guidelines and all, okay, you're learning a tool called Axe, which is called a usability testing software. You're learning a tool called figma. You're learning a tool called Canva. You're learning a tool called ppt. Tool is just a tool. It's like this pen tool is what to write, that's all. But you should know ultimately what to write, right? It's there in your brain. You have to improve this ability first before going and falling for tools like this. Tools will fancy come tomorrow, Better tools will come tomorrow. Version 2 of this tool will have even more good options. Tomorrow Canva will come up with another AI feature which just one click, you will create a visual document. So that is not the point. Don't be trend rider towards a tool. Be a trend riders with knowledge and thinking process. That is what is very important. Because ultimately if you know all these basics, you will know how to use, when to use, what to use.
Okay?
And then hierarchy. This is the five important things I wanted to cover you guys.
Okay?
Hierarchy is most important. What you want to create first, second, third, fourth, what you wanted to not bring the screen. What you wanted to present only one thing in the screen. So you have to create that visual hierarchy.
Okay?
And ultimately if you're not creating visual hierarchy, you will have some problems.
Okay?
So choose a project, evaluate. So now can you share your works? Guys, I will show you, okay? I. I'll show you some impact, how it is improving the types. I'll also show you how a hierarchy works. I'll also show you some consistency, okay? Can you share your works? Anybody? Yes. Welcome guys, welcome for the new people Let me open my screen as well so that you guys can understand it better. Just a second.
Okay.
I'm just creating one basic visual poster for you guys, okay? So that you guys can understand little better. Ah, just a second, guys. I'm sharing the screen. It's okay. Punish. I'm. I'm okay with this. I will share. I will share this presentation and then you can. Can you see my screen? Guys, confirm me. Yes. No.
Yes, sir.
Good. So look at this. In. In Canva, you can create a free account, okay? You can rename it just pbd.
Okay?
You can do anything in Canva. Whatever is the format you want. First choose that in the home page, if you go, there'll be something called. There'll be something called options. What kind of options you want? You want a document to be created, you want a whiteboard to be created? Presentation, video editing, print, anything you, you guys want. You can able to do it even in. Even you can create websites in Canva. Even you can upload your work and create lot of outputs. See, can you see whatever you want? Just type. Let's say if you want to build your resume, go and type here. See, you will have a lot of templates coming in front of you. Templates is there. Try to use the templates if you're a beginner first. Don't be randomly drifting here and there.
Okay?
But if you have got a little bit matured, then you can go and start playing around it. Like, let's say if you wanted to add some picture of you, if you wanted to bring some. Let's say if you want a Spotify app to be presented here, if you just click it, it will automatically come here.
Okay.
Upload files means you should keep it in the drive of this Spotify or the, sorry, the Canva portal, so that in one click you will be able to get it live there. Okay, like let's say if I'm creating a poster here, look at this. Okay, this is a logo design for change. I'm just keeping it for just like that.
Okay?
So I'm just promoting this material for design for change, for the people to go and listen to my Spotify channel.
Okay?
So now what I'm doing, I'm going to put my picture also because my picture is very important here.
Okay.
So I'm just putting this picture. So there is an option in Canva which is called BG Remover. The moment when you click it automatically, it crops out your background. You can able to create some stunning visuals and options over there. Okay, so you can. You can just resize it if you want. You can put it here. Like, let's say if I'm building a document over here. Okay, Next text. So choose a very good text. Choose a heading first. Okay, so what is this heading? We can have. You can have a project. Project insights. Okay, you want to create project insights? You can do fine if you want. You can able to bold this text if you want. You can able to highlight if you want to. Able to italic what you call left align, right align bullet points. All these things are normal option, guys. Okay, so choose here. The reason why it is. This is all proven with the ratios. What is subheading? What is the text? What is the size? What we have. That's the reason this is already there. So you don't have to break your head much.
Okay?
The size is already proven. That is why I'm recommending you to use the templates directly without confusing much in your head.
Okay?
Yes. Like, let's say if I'm creating this kind of a subheading. Okay, let's. Let's do one thing. Like, let's say, can you just type out some sentences, guys? Maybe I'll try to do it for you guys.
Okay.
I'm creating a poster in Canva. Can you give me some laurel. If some text, some placeholders. It is giving. Okay, so I'm just copy pasting this text for your. For your reference. See how I'm playing with the pictures and other elements? Okay, I'm just dragging this, for example.
Cool.
It's coming, right? So now Canva, you don't have to reduce this. You can just use this arrow marks to resize your text, whatever you wanted to do.
Okay?
Like, let's say this is your heading, this is your subheading, and you wanted to do a visual hierarchy.
Okay?
So now my intention of this poster is for the people to come for my Spotify channel to listen to my podcast.
Okay.
So I can create a caption like listen on travel.
Okay?
That means there are a lot of designers who are listening. There are a lot of designers who are traveling every single day for them. I've created a material called podcast, okay. Which is called in Spotify, one of the channels we have created. And people can able to go and subscribe here. So I'm just creating a promo message for it.
Okay?
Listen on travel. Next, I'm putting. Are you traveling every single day for hours? Hey, designers, are you traveling every single day? Single day for hours? I'm just putting a question mark.
Okay?
So here can you see something happening? I'll try to create a margin little bit higher. Okay, let's say so I'm just putting a text inside it. So what happens is there is a visual hierarchy here. What people will first see this, people will second see this, people will third see this, people who don't have a time. Like let's say a lot of people are very randomly just drifting here and there, right? For them they will only look at this and they will look at my picture because this is attractive color is there okay, some. Some kind of a effect is there. And I'll just give this as an option here. Look, a very simple poster. What happened? I am just using this entire thing to be left aligned. Can you see? I'll use an option called position. Where is that position? Ah, position. When you take position, always try to use this left align, right align with this position option because you will get a very professional look and feel. Okay, go to this and just if you click shift and move everything you can able to move it in a line. If you hold shift, you can move it in a line. Okay, if you don't hold shift, what happens? It will move randomly here and there.
Okay.
If you want a precise moment, you can still do it.
Okay.
I just want my picture to be placed here. Okay, so now what I'm telling is listen to the listen on travel. So I wanted to create brand color here. What I can create, let's say if I wanted to use my green color itself like a Spotify. So I'm just placing this and creating this. Can you see here something happened, right? I wanted. I wanted a little darker color. The reason being this is a white background, right? Look at this. This works little better. The visibility is little better. So based on the medium what you have, you have to choose the colors which is okay for you. Okay, Listen on the travel, okay, I wanted to even more add some element here. Okay, don't go for any icons and all these things. Guys, inside Canva there is an option called elements. Just put the keyword what you want. If you want a graphics, if you want a photo, if you want a video, everything is possible. Guys, don't confuse too much. Look at this. Okay, look, I'm just clicking this C. So people who are traveling, what I can put. I can put a icon like this, okay, Maybe in your free account if you have whatever is available with you, try to do it.
Okay?
Or else you can go for some websites called Icon Scout or maybe you can use this noun project or you can use icons finder anything is. Okay, guys, you can do it.
Okay.
So right now I'm just creating this looks like a more what you call a realistic image. So I'll try to put some illustrative image. Just wait. Okay, I'll put this black and white. This looks really classical for my work as well.
Okay.
So I'm just creating this. Listen, on travel, so near the travel, I'm going to put this picture so that people will know.
Okay.
See, look at the flow how I'm creating for the user.
Okay.
Next you can. You can go for another icon also if it's required. Maybe what I can do is I can create something like a. Okay, can you guys see? And you can reduce this opacity like this. Can you see? So we will be traveling, right? So this poster is having a theme of travel. I just kept a five percentage opacity.
Okay, look.
So now people who are even subconsciously building a relationship with this poster also still they can see there is something in the background which relates to travel. I've just put some illustration but pick whatever is a relevant illustration for you and try to do it.
Okay.
So once if you're doing this illustration. Just a second, guys. I'm just. Wait for a second. Just a second. Just a second. Okay, got it. I'm just sharing the screen again. Okay. Yep. Yeah. So what happens? You can able to create any icons, whatever you want if you're doing.
Okay.
Like let's say if you wanted to put a designer who is designing.
Okay.
Like let's say this guy is actually sitting and designing something.
Okay.
Designer travel. Maybe we'll try to pick something more related to travel and creative design. Okay. There is not much elements available. Yeah. But still I can able to keep it something like this.
Okay.
Like a back, like a outline. So people, whoever is traveling can still get the idea. What is this poster about?
Okay.
And then to make a call to action even more clear, what I'll also try to do is I'll also try to do one more thing. I'll put this layer backside. How many of you know this in Canva Also you can create this layers and you can play with it same like Photoshop.
Okay.
If you want, you can lock this also so that it won't move.
Okay.
And if you want, you can add one button as well here. Like let's say element. Look at this.
Okay.
I want something like a gradient button.
Click, click this.
It will automatically come. Okay, now that's okay. I can create one text here. This text con. Click here to subscribe subscribe, right? So what I'll do is I'll create a very different. What you call type face here. How can you guys tell me why I choose a different type face here? Can anybody tell me why I choose a different type face? But why not in the earlier one? Can anybody guess? I think your mic is on, guys. You guys can answer.
To.
Give some difference, like highlighting. Why? Why the difference I'm creating. Tell me. That's what I want. Sir, we want to click the user here. That's why we're creating. Okay, okay, so that is a little bit close answer, but I would also ask you to think one more time why it is why I'm choosing a different font here, which is not totally aligned here. For any page, Click to action is very important. Click to action button is very important for any page. Ah, that's correct. Good. So we are highlighting that. So highlighting. So you're telling. Highlighting is the reason. No, guys, think about it. More attention about highlighting. Think about it, huh? Attention to the main part. Attention. Okay, okay. Somewhat closer. Some more. Some more answers I want. Guys, think about it. Think about. Seems like clickable. It feels like clickable. Okay, fine. This is.
Okay.
See, I will tell you one thing. Very, very important. Okay? Listen to it. Lot of people don't know this information. Okay, just a first, let me put this.
So here.
What'S happened? Okay, Listen to it.
Okay.
I'm just creating this mall icon.
Okay?
So the point why I've created a separate typeface for this option is see, conventionally, our eyes started seeing this poster, right? Some logo, is there Some. Some image? Is there. Some heading is there? So now, like, let's say even you can put the heading small also.
No problem.
This can be bigger also. It's totally up to you what you wanted to highlight.
Okay.
Hey, designers, are you traveling every single day for hours? Here is the available material for you. Click to subscribe. Listen to my podcast. Very nice. Right, so let's say if you wanted to create the listener on travel mode, you can create it. First of all, hierarchy is. Taken care here. Are you guys getting. Hierarchy is what you define, not people define. Okay, because first of all, hierarchy comes from like, let's say just a second. So this is the first hierarchy. I'm just marking this so that you guys will know. This is the first one.
Okay.
And this is the second one. This is the second one.
Okay.
And this is the third hierarchy. In fact, people will come and take the action here. And this is the fourth hierarchy. People will see the picture. Fourth hierarchy and then people will see this one, which is fifth one.
Okay.
And then people will engage on the backdrop or whatever you have created.
Okay?
This is how the highs will flow and you should give the direction for it. If you keep it too random. Like, let's say if I keep this text here, okay. If I only put this button here, and if I put the text in the somewhat like let's say this corner of this page. And if people are not understanding, I'm just removing this number, guys.
Okay?
Okay. And you're putting this icons and everything just like that here. And then you're dashing this text and this text, and people are not able to read what you're trying to say. Ultimately, you lost the flow. Let's say if you deliberately take a decision. Okay, Jagdish, I wanted to keep this as a important information here. My call to action could be here. Enough. I just want to create this one information and this can go very small. No problem at all. Even if users are not noticing. I don't care if you deliberately take the decision as a designer, you can create a different order. See, this is a different order. This is a different order, right? This is a different flow of communicating the same information. If you don't want this information, remove this. No problem. If you don't want to communicate this, click to subscribe. Or you just wanted to see subscribe, that's it.
Okay?
If you want to just create subscribe, that's it. You can create it. Let's say something like this.
Okay?
If you want this text to be removed, no problem. Remove it.
Okay.
Always do a copy. While you are duplicating, there is an option called duplicate here.
Okay?
You can rename it, you can hide it, you can duplicate it. You can create a more page. Okay, you're creating another concept. Create a name called Concept 2. Don't lose the earlier concept because any point of time, your client will like the first concept.
Okay?
Or maybe sometimes your boss will like your first concept. So have a copy of everything. Don't think this is based. Don't assume yourself this is based.
Okay?
Like let's say if you don't want to communicate this text, okay, you don't want this image. Also, you just need a plain text. That's it. Okay, Listen. On the travel. Hey, designers, are you traveling every single day for hours? Subscribe to my Spotify channel. That's it. I'll remove my. I. I'll just put my picture. Okay, I'll put my picture and then I'll put the A Layer called send to back.
Okay.
Then I'll try to create a transparency here. Look at this. This is also one form of communication. It's a fairly direct communication, but it's very splashing. The reason being I'm just putting my picture, and then I'm asking the designers to go and subscribe to my Spotify channel just by a simple action.
Okay.
I want to put my design for change big. Like, let's say people has to engage in this. Okay, I'm just creating a position here. All left aligned properly. Look, even I will also put this one. I'll try to switch off this one.
Okay.
See, the moment when I do it, what happens is the entire information is clustered here. So automatically, eyes will go and read this, read this, read this, read this and take action. Even if you want to put this very small, no issues. You can put it. See how you are going to hierarchy your content, how you are going to choose your colors, how you are going to place the visual element. All it matters is how you decide that flow. That is why it is very important to first sketch out this concept in a paper. How you want to create this poster, how you want to create the message in a visual design. Once that is clear, then people will be able to engage in your content a lot of time. Like, let's say if you want a very. What you call something like this? Because the reason is you wanted to create a very artistic style for showcasing your communication.
Yeah.
This is also a way to do it. Listen on travel. Hey, designers, are you traveling every single day for hours? Subscribe to Spotify. Start learning more. Very simple, right? If I want to create a logo out of this context and put it in a small corner. Yeah, it's okay, fine. I can do it. So now the focus is even more clear.
Look.
Listen on travel. Also you can put here no issues. If you want to communicate your audience that listen on the travel Spotify. And if you want to add some more, like, let's say if you want to add a. I had a load. Just a second, guys.
Okay, you.
You. You still want to say that this icon is enough. I don't need people to even tell it's Spotify because a lot of people know this icon is Spotify.
Right?
You can even make the visual communication smaller. See, I can put this icon. Can you see? The call to action has become even more shorter. So the more and more minimal element you bring, the lesser people will get distracted. The only way they can able to see your content is just by looking at this one. Information take action. That's it. No confusion, nothing. Okay, Even you can reduce this picture size and then you can keep it in a little corner. That's okay, enough. Even if you want, you can put this brand here so that it looks like Jagdish brand. Very simple, right? See, only one information, one call to action. Always it is recommended to have only one call to action, guys. Because the more confusion you create, people will be differently directed in a different way. Okay, listen on the travel, that's it.
See?
And then when you give the hyperlink of this channel, can you see here? There is something called hyperlink. You can give hyperlinks here. I don't know where this option is, but it will be there.
Okay.
Can you see this hyperlink? If you give this hyperlink, it will redirect it. So if you are creating a hyperlink for your portfolio, you can create that. Okay, you want to create a YouTube channel and YouTube video. You want to link anything you can able to hyperlink here. Okay, Even you can able to send your PDF and anything also is a Google Drive. And then you can put it here as a download. So any option is possible.
Okay, you.
If. If you still want to change it into different font, you can change it. If you want to use this, what you call the old font itself, see, retain it. So visual design is what you create a flow, you create a hierarchy, you choose a color and then you are trying to create something else.
Okay?
Whatever is you want. First of all, you have to think in the mind what are the communication we are making? And based on that communication, you can slowly change everything. Okay, see, I'll tell you the reason why I created a different typeface. When our eyes is traveling same kind of a typeface, we'll see again and again and again, the whole document. The moment when you put something very different, what happens is your brain stops and your focus and attention will go more into this in a curiosity mode. What is this option for? Why it just looks very different? Why it looks like a button? Is it clickable? Is it interactable? So what happens is a new curiosity will arise in your mind. So you as a designer has to create that curiosity first. That's the main reason I asked you to break the flow. Create a new font, create a new graphics, create something very different. See, when you create something very stunning and very different, like let's say if you're bringing an element which is like, like let's say this. Something like this, okay? Something like this.
Okay?
And then you're creating some kind of an effect, something like this. So can you see some circle happening here? So what people will see is what people will think is there is already a communication which you made. You've already broken the flow of linearity and then you're creating a circles here. So create the circles, create the text in a way so that it is making a sense here. See you can also follow the same order. You can also create the same Spotify here. See now I created the arch in a way so that I place the text here. So I'm making the user move to a particular arrow mark direction to make them communicate what I wanted to tell them. Okay, so you are the communicator, you are the direction maker. The more clarity in the direction you make. That's how people eyes will travel. It's your responsibilities to make the people's eyes travel around you. Okay, so this is actually a small work I just tried to share with you. Okay, you can do this for anything else. You can do it for your project, you can do it for your portfolio, you can, you can do it for anything, it doesn't matter. But the basic principles is very same and it's most most important. The more you are clear on this, you can able to create a very good hierarchy for your user. And then you will see lot of clarity coming in your work. People will be very easy to understand what you're trying to say. People will know, okay, this is what you're trying to say. Okay, fine, yeah, I like it. Yeah, I don't like it. So that communication will come into you very clear. But ultimately if you are giving a confused communication, not telling what to do, not telling what to look for, and people will be in a super big confusion. People are reviewing this portfolio. If you're not giving proper call to action, what happens, they won't be able to contact you back. They will not have any interest towards it. So think about it, okay? This is most, most important. Just a second, guys. Okay, so now can you see my screen? So I choose to create a typeface spacing hierarchy and a color consistency. Are you guys here? Cool. Okay, so now you can do this for your project. Guys, take your one project, okay, Take your one project, try to redesign it and upload it in your portfolio, website or anything and get some feedback from your friends. And also you can pin it to me. People are watching it live in the YouTube stream. Please go and pin it to me so that I can able to give you feedbacks. Let me give you a scientific background on it. See first of all, our Visual cortex is the most activated thing. It engages your brain with colors, layout, everything. Because our brain is mostly of visuals, the more visuals you give, people will not forget that first impression. 50 milliseconds to take that impact. That is why we are creating so much of detail in our visuals. To create that attraction. Or else what happens, people will miss the flow. Consistency feeds brain. See, I told you, right? Patterns. Patterns create more emotions and you can able to do this more.
Okay.
And then most important is relevant data, stats on design and information which I'll tell you the faster you engage. Six second recruiter decision taking time. How many of you don't know this? Six second People take only six second to what you call check whether you are okay or not to move forward. Lot of people don't know this. Lot of people are thinking, okay, I have all the what you call. I have all the time in the world. I have all the what you call people. Everybody will come and engage in my content and they will see and appreciate me. No 6 seconds recruiter has that much time only higher attention rate visuals 65% more memorable than text. See attraction is also important. Functionality is also important. You need to understand both. Don't ask me which is good.
Okay?
83% of the value presented in your portfolio having higher preference. Okay? So create that value very clearly to the people. That is where we are teaching you this skill.
Okay?
What are the AI tools? Canva Pro with me. I have not tried this tool guys, but you can try.

Okay?
Just use the basic things and start. I would say start.
Okay.
First of all get started. That is the reason I told you some basic tools.
Okay?

What I'm telling you is how did your design improve? Take your one project, do it and show me how did your project improve? How can you create that in your future project also and keep a create. I mean create a style for you in order to improve it more.
Okay.
