Hello guys, welcome, welcome.
Hello Jagadeesh, how are you?
Hi, welcome. We will be going live in 1 minute, so 8:00 we will be seeing the people, whoever is there. We will do it even if nobody is there, I'll do it. It's a discipline we are created. One second, I think, uh, yeah, it is getting streamed in YouTube, I think. Wonderful, good to see all of you here. Just a second. Wonderful, guys. Welcome, welcome to all the people whoever has joined for the open house. Welcome Srideesh, welcome Nitya, welcome Anusha, welcome Rukmini, welcome Swati, welcome Asma. Superb, all the people, welcome. So I just want to tell you that we are doing the 4th episode now. It's going really well, and we have announced so far 3 winners. So I'm very excited to announce the 4th winner also today. And not only that, we will see what is the main content, okay? So I wanted you guys to all take your smartphones. This is an activity which is related to smartphone, so please open it, okay? It's a very simple activity, but it's going to be definitely a— I would say you'll have to give it a thought, then only you're going to get the complete connectivity for this, okay? I'm giving you 30 seconds time. All of you, please do take that. I would, I would like you to take it immediately, speed fast. Okay. And by the way, this is episode 5, so Shantilal, wherever you are, just make sure you correct this in our, in our episodes so that we will come to know. Okay, super. All of you, have you taken your smartphones? Confirm me, confirm me.
Yes.
Okay, so the activity for you to share is— first of all, let me share the screen so that you will understand the basic code of honor, and then we'll get into it. Okay, just a second, I'm just correcting this based on your emotions.
Just a[No speech] You are on mute, Jagadeesh.
We can't hear you.
Thank you for pointing. Okay, so welcome to this DFC Open House, 5th episode. So the code of honor is no self-promotion. Make sure you only have communication with respect to design. In the next chat also, whoever is going to watch live later, or maybe the people are visiting our site, so all feedbacks are here. First of all, if you want to put any feedbacks We are happy to hear that and we are going to improve it because it's not about the community is getting happier, satisfied. We just wanted to understand the audience also, whoever is there outside, to give some critique so that we can also reach more audience and people through the feedbacks what you guys are giving. Okay, and mainly this call is also to celebrate the winners and also a small challenge will be also given to you. Okay, small challenge. For 5 minutes will be given to you at the start of this call. It happens every Friday, 8 PM, 15 to 20 minutes. Okay, so now we have completed many activities. Episode 1, 2, 3. First week we saw about shapes. Okay, second week we saw about circles. Third week we saw about combination. Fourth week we saw about story. But this week is a little addition of that. For all of you clear? All of you type addition. We are going to add on top of the 4th episode what we created. So all of you take your smartphones, choose 3 emojis. First, I'm giving you 1 minute time. Choose your 3 emojis, but the condition is you will have to choose it based on your personality. Like, let's say if you're a person who always likes love, if you're a person who always like fire, if you're a person who always like sleep, whatever is your emotion and mood Okay, choose 3 emotions and type that in the Zoom chat. Fast, fast, fast! 1 minute time for you. Do it, do it, do it! I want every single one of you to do it. Okay, yes, yes, yes. Let us understand. Hey, hi Bhushan, thank you for connecting in YouTube stream. Thank you. Okay, okay, very good. Wonderful. Good. Sandya Shiva just joined from office. Good.
No, Jagadeesh, from home.
From home only. Okay, good. I think a lot of new people are also there. I'm happy to see you guys, but you guys might not understand what is this session all about. Okay, but, but anyway, you'll get the flow. Okay, so please Switch on your camera, guys. If you're there on the Zoom, it would be better if you switch on the camera. Rukmini, Anusha, Asma, Saravana, Himanshi, Bhavana, Swati. I would like to see all of the new members as well. Aditi, Trimurtulu, Kajal. 30 seconds left, okay? Choose the emojis fast, fast, fast. No problem, Himanshi, totally fine. Guys, there are repeated emojis available, please change it. See, bring some creativity, guys. I don't want people to repeat, okay? Bring some creativity. Okay, Swati is done, Kajal is done, Bhavana is done, Asghar is done. Asghar, Valentine's Day, it's over here already. Okay, Anusha. Okay, good, Anusha. But everything looks okay. Okay, fine. I think people are taking it. Sandhya has taken it. Wonderful. Time's up, time's up. So now Now listen very carefully, listen very carefully, listen very carefully. This is the most important thing, okay? You got to develop a one-line story with that 3 emotions. Are all of you clear? We got to create a one-line story with that 3 emotions. The condition is same, it's an extension of the earlier episode. A story, whatever you're writing, should have a hero. A hero should have a final goal to reach, and the hero has to enjoy his afterlife journey. And who is the villain who is stopping his journey? Typically, storytelling in design, we all know this. We did in the last hackathon also, but still, this is a format of storytelling. So think about 3 emojis based on your emotions, which you guys have already did. Please develop a one-line story with that 3 emojis, which is very powerful. Make sure you have a condition of hero, villain, afterlife, goal, and everything. Your time exactly is 5 minutes. Do it, and then I'm very interested to ask you to share it in the Or do you— your time starts now. Go ahead, add a lot of flavor, try to be more creative. Okay, you have not chosen these emojis randomly. You have chosen these emojis because you're resonating this one or the other way in your life. If you wanted to do a sketching, if you want to do a storyboard or something like that to articulate your story, no problem, feel free to be very creative. Use pen, pencil, whatever you have, sketch pen, and try to put that picture also in the chat. 4 minutes 30 seconds left. Go ahead, go ahead. What are the conditions? Who's that? This is Trimuktru. You said about a few conditions, right? Conditions. Okay, the conditions is your story should not be random story. It should have a hero, it should have a goal. Okay, you should have afterlife. That means the hero, after reaching the goal, you have to just explain their dream story or heaven story, whatever. And then definitely a villain needs to be there. Obstacle. This is what is the story format which every Hollywood director in the world uses. Nothing much. Every story will follow this context. This is what anyway we are going to see in hackathon also, but I am just keeping this little as an activity. Okay, fast, fast, fast. 3 minutes left. Go ahead, guys, bring more creativity. Go out of the box. Don't bring everybody— there is one emoji in the village and that emoji will be a hero. Don't tell me all this baby stuffs and all. Be very creative like a designer, okay? Put many characters into it, put emotions into it. Show your connecting the dots skills.
Super!
Go ahead. 2 minutes left. All of you can bring more creativity into this game. Don't write it in the chat box. Wait, I'm going to ask you. This is— no, no, no, write it a little deeper here. I'm expecting a little, at least 30 seconds to 1 minute, you have to talk about it. ¿Qué? Wonderful. Okay, I am giving you 30 seconds more. Sorry, 1 minute more. Okay, so please complete it fast so that people can able to build a lot of contextual stories around it. Okay. 30 seconds left.
Let her—
I'm waiting for your super creativity. Go ahead, go ahead. 10 seconds. Time's up, time's up, time's up, time's up. Superb. So now, now listen very carefully, okay? All of you stop. Just don't keep on doing it. It's not meant to be done for more time. There is a cutoff time for this activity, okay? Please listen to what other people are saying, okay? Please listen to other people, what they're trying to say. This is where you will also see how people were able to connect the dots and everything, okay? Anybody can start. Go ahead. Who wants to start first? Siddhesh, you want to go first?
Yes, go ahead. So I selected 3 emojis like ROFL, alien, and a confusion emoji like a circle. Okay, so stories like that. I am a really very funny person, always throw lame jokes in office, uh, in with the colleagues. So based on that, they always tease me like that, you should be a professional, not throw lame jokes, and so like that. But, uh, before that, uh, I throw ROFL or lame jokes. Before that, I gonna throw a very hard life and a sad life, so I know the value of, you know, being sad. And, uh, I like to make people laugh and happy, so I always used to throw lame jokes with, you know, for to the office peoples. So one day, uh, I, uh, you know, I made a joke too much, so My colleagues calls the alien like a Jadoo. So colleagues tell the alien that bring me with— no, bring, uh, bring me with him, alien, into the space. So, you know, they will get a relief from me. So here I am the hero and the colleagues are villains.
Okay, okay, wonderful, superb. So what are the afterlife?
No, I didn't make afterlife.
Afterlife is very important.
See, yeah, so I will create here. So yeah, it's my, you know, true nature. So I will throw the lame jokes in the alien world also. So alien aliens also wants to get a relief from me.
Super, super, super amazing. All of you type more power to you, to Sidhesh. So instantly he came up with something In fact, last week also Sidhesh came up with something extraordinary, like a very quick story. All of you type MPTY. Wonderful, guys. See, this is what is a very important skill for a designer. We should be able to create a story around it. A story needs to have a structure. See, building a random story doesn't matter here. Anybody can do. But a story needs to have a hero. Story needs to have a goal. Your hero needs to reach a goal. Like, let's say if he is fighting with lot of people or whatever. The goal is to go and marry that girl. The end of the goal. And what is the afterlife? They will lead a very happy life. So that's what Sidhesh mentioned. I will go to the alien planet, I'll make the alien happy. And who's the villain? Father and mother, whatever, right? So this is what the structure for a story is. Imagine when you're building a product, when you're building a UI, when you're building a UX, or maybe the, uh, what do you call, a journey for a user. If you have to build a story for you're using. Just like that, if somebody is opening an app, making a transaction, they will never use your product for a longer time. How do you create a story around it? How do you connect the dots? How do you connect the payment system with a story, with the emoji, with the emotions, with a love, affection, hero, villain, whatever you are trying to build? This is going to bring you uniquely as a designer. Are all of you able to see the connect what Zidhesh is doing? If Zidhesh is doing one more time, he will better, he will, he will get even more better. If you're doing 3 times, 4 times, he will get next level. Superb. Can we go for the next person? Can we go for one more person? Asgar, are you ready to share?
I want to do it.
Go ahead, Rukmini, go ahead.
Okay, my emojis are bow, hair bow, smiley face, and a glowing emoji.
So repeat, repeat, repeat. I can see the chat.
Okay, bow, hair bow, smiling face, and a glow.
Okay, good.
So hero, that smiling face is me, or for any person in random, be it women or men. And the life journey is the space between the emojis. Basically, I can be very beautiful and meaningful, the bow represents, but this glow represents something aesthetic, or the glow within myself. So the villain is the conflict between these two. Should I be beautiful, meaningful, or should I be aesthetic, glowing? Something like this. So the final goal, uh, that I realize, or after life, is that I can coexist between both of them.
Wonderful, wonderful. Oh my God, this is next level here. This is very simple. She, she went inside the box, not outside. She went inside the box, and that was really a nice story. Thank you all of you. Type MPTY2. Rukmini, it was a very simple context she took, but look at her story. See, this is why every designer has a personality. Every designer has a way in which they are brought up, their thinking. See, she talks about two things which is happening inside the mind, and she understood this is a part of the life and it coexists. Beautiful, amazing. Look, me, you're going to become a great designer. I could, I could easily sense based on the thought process what you're having. I wish you all the best. Thank you. Super amazing, good. And by the way, Rukmini has come from very different background. She's like, she's from coding and development. She has no connectivity to design, but so long she's been working in the wrong field. That's what I could say from this answer, whatever she's given. Okay, more power to you. Amazing. Let's go for one more person. You want to talk, Asghar? Nithya? Sandhya? We have to laugh after your story. You should not laugh now, Asghar.
Okay, it's, uh, no, my emojis are one, one is a blank kiss, one is a love sign. Another is love emojis. Okay, so my story is—
after the love, there is a heartbreak should come, then it is perfect. You put everything—
actually, I like happy ending.
So happy ending, okay, go ahead.
So my one-line story is: a shy hero sends a loving kiss, faces awkward moments and challenges, but in the end, his honest love reaches to the heart.
Okay.
So these are the conditions: the hero, life journey, obstacles, and final goal. The final goal is my love will reach to all of the people. And first, I tried, and an awkward moment comes, and then stumble through awkward moments, and then still reaches the courage to express his true feelings.
Got it, got it, got it. So you're just, you're just trying to, uh, like, let's say a one-line story, right?
Yes.
This has all the elements. Like, let's say, see, actually this is very different from what Sudesh said, and this is very different from what Rukmini also said. Yeah, here is that, here is that in these two stories there was a character, there was a persona, okay? But look at Asghar's story, it's actually a story only, but it doesn't have a character. It is a line. Can all of you see this? See, this is what— this is also a very good way of storytelling. Have you seen many heroes and the people who are doing dialogues? Their dialogues will exactly be like this. Their exact emotions will be like this. In fact, that itself is a story. Okay, see, people buy a product or people buy a hero. What does it mean by buying a hero? Like, whatever Sachin says, I'll go and buy. Right or not? Whatever Amitabh Bachchan says, I'll go and get. So people have bought Amitabh Bachchan not because of his movies and everything, it's because of the way in which he has told that story also as a dialogue or to something. So thank you, Asghar, for bringing that one-line short story. And, uh, superb. Even though the depth is different, whatever you are having, the depth is one line, but this has a context of hero, villain, afterlife, and everything. Okay, superb. So with person also you can tell story. Without person also you can still story. Amazing, man. Thank you. More power to you, to Asghar. Beautiful. Anybody else would like to show their story? What did you exactly create? Go ahead, Nitya. You want to share? Sandhya? Arvind? Anybody? Aditi? Anusha?
I shared in group.
So you created a poster itself? Okay, you explain please, that will be better.
Yeah, I'm be the hero. At first I've been, uh, confusion. I went for in Bangalore recently and visited an army camp. In that I'm, I'm watch my— watch how the challenges and distance of the duty, sacrifice, all everything like discipline. I'm watching and I get to know the how much struggle they are getting. I went there with a happy heart and curious to see my 4G. And my, uh, after that I will get to know, okay, everyone is working hard, disciplined. So I just inner motivated and I observe each and everyone's lifestyle. And my villain part is coming back to the hometown, emotionally ending, leaving the camp and the family. It's a hard goodbye to them, and routine works.
Super amazing. You, you made us walk through a visual journey also, as well as a story. See, this has environment. This doesn't have only character. This has an environment. The army is an environment here, right? See, army itself is one or the other way conveying like a village, because many people get into army. It's like a like a heavy training and no holidays, something like sacrifice for the country. So when you're stitching the story around this kind of an environment, and superb, Sandhya, in a very short span of time you were able to build a mind, what do you call, the storyboard also with respect to pictures. I think you are very good using the AI tools. Amazing, superb. Thank you so much, Sandhya. Is it really connected to your personal or something? Why this?
Ah, Monday I went for Bangalore. My husband recently got promoted.
That's what I'm saying, there is some connectivity here. What happened Monday? Your husband got promoted?
Yes.
Oh, more power to you! Superb, superb, amazing. I was recollecting this movie here. What is that movie that Shiva Karthikeyan has recently acted? No, what is that movie?
Amarant.
Amarant. Is it Amarant? I don't know. Okay, super amazing. So there was a, there was a, there was also a little bit of nostalgic feel I could able to connect because my father is also military, okay? And I also like military sacrifice, service. I also, uh, my mind also wandered around military camps. My mind also wandered around the Samarand movie. And also there is a, there is another movie also which is very similar to this story. Like, see, now Sandhya is making me also travel into the same journey. Storytelling is not just making people entertained. Storytelling is making the people journey through the entire, what you call, places wherever you are taking them in just 3 hours. That's why people sit glued to a seat and then they watch the movie, right or not? Is anybody able to watch anything 3 hours here for your mobile app, whatever you're building? No, not even 9 seconds, right? Netflix and Amazon can do it. Amazon Prime, Netflix, people can able to watch this for 3 hours, for 2 hours, because of course it's a direct entertainment niche. But can you design a SaaS dashboard with this kind of an engagement? That is the question. Can you design a fintech product something like this? Can you design an LMS system like this? Let's say tomorrow if you are going to edutech, like let's say if you're building a small application for kids to start learning gravity. Imagine, it's a little boring topic, right? Nobody likes gravity. But imagine if you could build a story like this and you're making the kid learn. This is what is going to make you as a successful designer. And everybody has the power to go and empower the society using this skill. Superb, amazing. Are all of you happy with this skill? Please go and practice. It's not about me giving one time, it's not about me giving two times, it's not about me giving three times, four times. No, it's all about go again and again and again. The more and more you're able to articulate the story, the better you will become. This is what is being taught in film schools. Message, theme, everything that you take it. See, some person would have got a very bad, what do you call, this kind of a rape, murder. They've seen a lot of things in their lives. Maybe their environment is like that. See, you can look at their movies, they'll be always talking about these things. If you could see some people who are like very ditched with this caste discrimination issues villagers' problem, all this upper caste lore. You'll see their films are exactly like that. And there is another person who stayed in the slum who talks about the community, communism and capitalism. Their movies will be like that. And there is another person who's staying in a very rich background, like he talks about the emotional problem which happens. So you are having one personality which is already there with you. And look at your story also. Sandhya has not taken a story of climbing to Himalayan mountain. She is no way connected to Himalayan mountain or Antarctica, right? She will only talk about what is happening in and around her. Same for Rukmini, same for Jagadeesh also. He's talking about office, he's not talking about space station. Of course he went to space station, but, but this is what is our characteristic and personality is also bringing. So that is why you need to feed your mental nutrition in your brain with a lot of good information by listening to good training programs or or watching sessions or waking up early so that your mind is fed with a lot of good data. If you're watching a lot of unnecessary things, if you're watching a lot of different, different things— like let's say there are many people who are getting addicted to unnecessary movies, porn addiction and everything— so what happens is your mind will not stay in a very productive zone, right? Of course, sex is also very important, but the addiction in which the entertainment is also now happening, it's a very big thing. In fact, 2-3 days before also, I was reading a big article Actually, people are not coming to social medias now. How many of you don't know this? Youngsters don't want to come to social media. It's a very interesting article I was reading. So there was a very different interest which people are now trying to have. So we as a designer are responsible for behavioral change also for the humans. We can also create products and applications in a way so that we can drive positive change for the society. There is a separate field called design for behavioral change, design for positive behavioral change. University of Delft have already designed a lot of, uh, I mean, it's there in Netherlands, you can check that. It's one of the top universities where they are doing a lot of behavioral design and changes and everything. Second, there is another institute called University of Dresden. They are doing neuroscience research, how you can create product where you can neurologically control the people and make them addicted to good habits, not into a negative habits. Addicted into good habits. So using this storytelling as a power, you guys can literally play around with anything. Okay, so amazing information has been given to you today. Take it forward, and I wish you all the best, and I'll see you tomorrow in the sessions. Bye-bye. And also for the people who are watching in public, let's see you on the next Friday for the open house session. Okay, super. So before we end this call, I just want to tell you, go ahead and mark your attendance. I'll announce the winners Ready, ready, ready. Go ahead, refresh your feed, mark your attendance. Let me see who is going to be the winners. Let me see who is going to be the winners. Okay, not only points, you also know how the thing works, right? It all depends on the continuous engagement and everything. Because certain people now, you know, they are getting some points, they know that weekly they are going to come forward, they'll get some gift, and then the next week they will never come. I will never do that. I will just make sure that people are consistently working and then they are getting the reward for whatever they're doing. Thank you. Okay, good. Yes, have you marked the attendance? Confirm me fast, please. You have to conclude the call also. 20 minutes to 30 minutes only, max to max. Go ahead, go ahead. All of you type done if you have done with the Done with that. And super, superb, all of you have done it. Now I'm going to refresh the feed. 3, 2, 1. Superb. So from the last 3, I would say Hemalatha is the top third, means the third position. Asghar Ali is the second position. Second position. How many times I'm in this community for a long time. Okay, first is Sidhesh Simpi, and more importantly, Sidhesh Simpi has got an extraordinary difference in the points. And not only that, Sidhesh has been very active in the community. Sidhesh has been very active in the hackathons. Sidhesh has also been very active in the storytelling part, particularly last week and this week. So without any doubt, this particular reward goes to Sidhesh Simpi. Superb!
Thank you.
Congratulations, congratulations! Please come forward on the stage and talk about what exactly you have did in this last week to become a weekly winner. Before that, I just want to show you a quick, uh, reason. Yes, this is, by the way, Sidhesh P. Man, is this you or what?
You look like this camera.
Yeah. So if you just click this points, you can come to know, like, he's very consistent in posting. He's also completing courses. See, he's also completing modules and he's also liking a post. He's also very active in the LMS. Thank you so much, man, for making this thing happen. And also you have shared your learning also today in the Figma Friday. You also created wireframes, you also created self-intro. Wonderful, man. I think you are using the LMS really proper. And I think he's been active from the first week of the open house as well. Okay, and he has got 3,600 What do you call, how do I say, I think 3,600 and 3,930 points. Over to you, go ahead, share your experience.
Yes, so before joining the DFC, my behavior and nature was totally, uh, no different. So I always used to keep, you know, things are postponed, like we will do tomorrow, we will do tomorrow. So after joining the DFC, uh, you know, uh, I got an habit that, uh, wake up at 5 AM or 5:30 AM. So that was a one good habit. So yeah, that's, uh, brings a good positive change in me. So from that, you know, uh, as like, you know, uh, we said that, uh, we, when we having a group of good people, the good thoughts coming in minds. Like, uh, this is a group like, you know, motivating, motivation group. So I always, uh, you know, thinking about motivations, all that thing, what I really want to do that. So even when, you know, I will— I am traveling to the office, I always thinking about, you know, problems. I just thinking about what people had problems, what we can innovate. So I always thinking like that. So yeah, that motivates me. So ultimately, that's all, you know, that connections brings to, you know, to keep my consistent. Yeah, that is the thing.
Thank you, man. Thank you so much. And then more importantly, I could see whatever you're talking is really happening. You are also doing in the classes and sessions regularly, the consistency is there. I could see that you are also thinking more about problem solving, and I'm eagerly looking for your one-to-one also to understand what's your one-day project, one-week project. And I'm also eagerly waiting for you to put you in squadrons to understand where your positioning of your Skills can be there because if you channelize your niche and micro niche clearly, I think you can be a great value added in this design field.
Yes, thank you.
Let this be the first success for you. I wish you all the best, uh, Siddesh.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for being in this community. And please talk to Sujan also, whatever tool you need for this week, like let's say whatever you need, like let's say LinkedIn Premium or allowable credits, talk to us, we'll provide that gift for you. Thank you so much.
Thank you, thank you, guys.
Super, super, super. All the best, guys. I wish you all the best. Take care, keep learning, whatever you are completing in LMS, please complete it. You will get points, rewards. Second, whoever is working on squadrons, work on your regular activities. Whoever is also participating in the hackathons, give your full attention. Tomorrow implementation is there. Not only that, tomorrow we have a very special session— how to do salary negotiation, how to understand payslip. We are having an early morning session in Momentum call. Please do attend that session. That's also going to be a next level interesting game for you. Okay, so see you there. I wish you all the best. Thank you, Sandhya, for sharing your story. Thank you, uh, who's the other person? Rukmini. Thank you, uh, uh, what do you call, uh, all the people whoever has shared their emoticons and story and everything. And yeah, wishing you all the best, guys. Take care. I think, uh, Sandhya, Sidhesh, yeah, I think more people. In fact, uh, uh, Swati Acharya also shared her emojis. Kajal also shared. Bhavna also shared, Asma also shared. We did not have time, but please do share it in our LMS. You would be reading all of our stories, guys. Okay, take care, all the best.
Bye-bye.
