Day 14 - Rest and Recovery In UX Cycle

Jagadeesh P uses muscle recovery as a metaphor for UX design, explaining how pauses, white space, and motion timing prevent cognitive burnout. Chunking interactions and managing visual hierarchy improve attention and trust the same way rest improves physical performance.
Wow, Good to see you again in this video. In fact, we are going to be closing this entire week of muscles by telling you in the last topic which is recovery and rest in your UX cycle. See guys? Muscles needs rest to grow. How many of you don't know this? When your muscle recovers, only your growth will happen. Any fitness trainer will tell you that your user needs a pause to proceed the process successfully. Breathing zones and space is very important to get a clarity in your UI because the recovery builds a very calm interaction rhythm for your user. This is what is called a balanced effort. When you make your users in a more relaxed way, you tend to breathe your users in a very proper way and then the user will be able to perform the full complex action. Particularly if you're a product designer who's working in SAS based dashboards or very complex screens. This is a big mental model you need to understand for your user. If you're not making the people break down this big mental model into small then you for user will feel very confused to use your application. Have you seen tally applications and very complex dashboards? People get a lot of mentally drained with their energy after they work for a few hours. This is exactly what is because of the user experience what they get out of this interaction. Because there is no white space, there is no good colors, there is no consistent UI elements and you're making user think more and more and more to recognize. This is what is called to action, this is what is highlighted. This is the data. You're literally making the user feel fatigued and overload. If you're not having this balance, people will not use your application and your user experience will not be better even if you're designing a physical product. Same goes if you're not giving the user rest to really recover. Back to go and see what exactly is the product's usages. If you're prolongingly making the user interaction and engage, they will feel very bored about it. Physical product, digital products, both are applicable for it. In this video I'm going to be telling you what common mistakes designers do and how we can rectify it. Let's jump in. Foreign. Good to see you in this video I was telling about the recovery system in muscles. See guys, in the last one week we've been fully seeing about the muscular system interactions of the muscles, micro interaction of the muscles, performance of the muscles, responsive adaptiveness, load bearing capacity, interaction design. I'm sure nobody would have given you the clarity of design concepts using the body part of muscle. I wanted you Guys to also type out are you really getting some value out of all the seven videos what we have recorded? Because there is a new attempt which I am also creating and I am sure the concepts are all covered. But how well easily somebody has to understand it all depends on how you are grasping this video. I wanted to conclude this video in the last day 14 by saying that muscles is the most important part of your body. It shows the immunity of your health. If a person has a good amount of muscles and the quality of muscle is there, we can say the longevity of the person is really really high. Same like your product should also have a good muscle and the property of the muscle of a UI UX design. That is what is exactly we are seeing this and I want to conclude this entire topic by saying the last part of the muscle system is recovery. If you're not giving a rest cycle for your ux, your user is not going to learn it. Okay Jagdish why it is important this prevents a cognitive burnout? I already said that many people really work hard in this sash dashboards but the point is after two, three hours they're getting Dr. Have you seen the cockpit of aircraft? Have you seen the very complex dashboard of any power plant or engineering related thermal plant and all these things. The interactions are very complex. Unless until a designer who is designed to perfectly make the UIs better or maybe the cognitive load little better. Of course the user is struggling a lot. You need to understand that. So how do you improve that? This is very important to do it. Okay. This builds a focus and trust. This builds a key mindful product design enhances the visual hierarchy and improves the attention span for a lot of time. If you're not recovering your muscles, you won't be able to continuously work out. If you're not making your user really recover faster, ultimately you're not winning your user. He's going to get shortcut, he's going to get short circuit and not going to use your application for a lot of time. The big common mistakes what designers does is you don't give any spacings between the letters. Too much clumsy UI inconsistent visual elements making the user really give a lot of mind load to think about it. Creating over animation without any passes so that the screen gets stuck. Users also feel very stuck. By grasping all this information in one go. Your mental fatigue is becoming very idle. No ideal states at all. What does mean by ideal state when you are creating a user interaction? When a user needs to pause for some time to know the loading or maybe There is no call to action. You need to provide that. If you continuously keep that the user feels very difficult. Too much visual distractions and ignoring the transition. This is a common mistakes all designers do. The big psychology behind this activity is guys to give a pause and a smaller smaller interaction and breaking into chunks is to make your user feel little relaxed brain needs at least 400 to 600 milliseconds recovery. You can use this tool called hard jars to also find out how much time people are able to use for a particular period. You can use this tool called Usability.com youm can also use a tool called Maze.com so this timing can be very well taken by your users by your design I mean by your team in design. And they can also come up with a lot of decision making. Why my users are feeling very difficult to take addition here. Why the screen loading time is affecting my user. Why my user is feeling little bit taking large amount of time to go for the next screen. Then you tend to make a meaningful ux. I'm saying for the digital products you can do it for the physical product as well. So this comes layouts. This calm layouts increases the processing speed of a user. And pause is equal to memory consolidation. Fast and slow rhythm keeps attention in a balanced way. Quiet UI builds a very confident perception. You need to understand this and I want to tell you there are tools like let's say you can use this eight grid white space grid system in our YouTube video. You can also in our YouTube channel. You can also go and watch this visual design day from day 82 to 100 which we have created in the last 100 days. 100 skills where I talked about this grid system and composition. Very detailed video I've recorded. You can also create motion delay balance in framer and other websites when you're building in WordPress or other thing so that the delay happens when a person is taking an action. You can also give chatgpt to get this kind of a rhythmic UI and the instruction and the prompts for it in the last video we saw that. And please give past timings between action. This really really improves the emotional response of a user. I'm sure you must be understanding the real meaning why I'm taking this particular topic. Wanted to also type out rest in the chat box to send you the UX recovery audit sheet for you. You can start creating simple UI simple UX creating that using that sheet. More importantly you can also take it out forward by putting your entire projects and portfolio and the UI related stuff. And check whether you are giving enough rest for your user. If you're making a very complex user flow and more importantly in the link below I have given the four hours design verse workshop. I would highly recommend you to come to the workshop and see how all these learnings see it's not about what I'm teaching you, it's about how you put all of these learnings and improve your design career to get at least a great designation increase or a salary increase or a career clarity increase to move ahead in your career. That is why I'm inviting you to this four hours workshop to also do it. And I also want to invite you if you're looking for a personalized mentorship support every 15 days. We also onboard students for our Gold membership program. It's not open for public once you attend our community calls once you feel that you are really interested in having a personal one to one support. Definitely in the 15 days once during that showcase we'll be also onboarding you if you meet all the criteria open. Okay. Because many people do Messages in the YouTube also about hey Jagdish, all these concepts are okay but are you offering any personalized support? We won't be able to take all of the people. It's very difficult for us to manage but we can take every 15 days once based on the need of a student. So click the link below and attend the workshop. I'll be telling you at the end of this workshop how we can join our community and get started even as a silver member. And when the need comes you can also upgrade to good. And I want to tell you all the best guys by learning and sticking with me for the last 14 days about exactly the skeletal system and muscular system and design. And I wanted to tell you in the week three we're going to see something called the nervous system. This week is going to be very very very very important and I'll tell you how we are going to change this pattern of learning also in the next next weeks. I wanted you to stay connected. See you. Bye.
