Day 20-One minute Hook for Design Recruiters-Skill Booster 100 Day Challenge

Jagdish P demonstrates how to nail your opening pitch on recruiter calls through role-play with Muthu and Shantilal. The session shows common mistakes in phone interviews and how preparation and confidence help you land the next meeting.
Foreign. Welcome guys. Welcome. Welcome to this day 20 of the skill booster session. And I'm super excited to see you live. Can you confirm me whether my volume is can you confirm me whether my volume is audible for everybody? Can you help others also? Who wants to be a. Hi Nishit. Good morning. We have invited for today's call actually in fact thank you Nishit for coming and joining us for this day special day in fact. Okay. Excellent. Yes, yes. Yes. I'm just sending out the link to many people so that they can what you call join out there. Welcome guys. Welcome. Welcome others please do help people who are people are joining so that they will also able to be switching on their camera. I guess I forwarded to all the people. That's great. Okay guys, but what happened? Just hold on. I think I have enabled everybody to switch on. Faisal, Arun, Mutu, please switch on your camera guys. Because I told you it will be drive if we switch on the camera. And then if you attend the call that'll be very interesting. Okay good. So today is a day 20. And the point here is today we have got some very interesting question from our student. Okay. So that person has asked me like in one minute how do I really talk. Talk to the people over the phone call. Like let's say if you're getting a phone call interview or maybe if. If they are telling us that you are selected or maybe you are going to get selected or maybe you are getting to know first about them. So the very first interface what you make with the students, I mean you make with the interviewer is over the phone call. In fact ideally that is what is typically going to happen. But how do you really crack that if one minute. How do you really take that into consideration and you rock the show. In fact that is most important. And people sometimes don't understand this is important. That is the another big control, another big problem what is happening. So in this video what we are going to see is a simple techniques how you can do. And I am going to show you a live case study and demo also. Okay. So listen very carefully. And again this is not only the way which I am telling you. This is also a way. There are multiple use cases, different type of recruiters, different personality of people. And your case is different. And your experience is different. And you your self introduction will be different. So the variables will change the whole equation. This is not a one size fits for all. But I'm going to give you the basic science. Okay, but with the caution I am telling you just Take it with a pinch of salt. That's it. You don't have to take this as a mantra and do it many times. You will have to tweak the script many times. You'll have to understand who's that person. What I'm going to get while I'm going to talk with them. What they are going to get while they're talking with me. So all these things goes into the mind while you are using these techniques. Okay. Again, you should be having a lot of confidence before you use this. Because just like that, if you bring this method, I will tell you what will happen. You will not know what you're doing. You'll be in a big trouble lately. So think about that. Okay? You should know what you're doing. Exactly. Then and only it's going to ultimately make a difference. Or else it will backfire. You. I've seen many people getting backfired. Not knowing how to talk. Not knowing how to talk with the people very confidently. And yesterday also one of our student, he was having an interaction with the. He was having the interaction with. With the recruiter. In fact we are going to show that also as a case study I am going to play that audio for you guys and make you understand what mistake that person also did and what possibly you can correct from that. Fine. Cool. Yes. So yes, Arvind, I made you as a host. Now we can switch on the camera. Cool. Guys. So now I'll be sharing my screen. So you guys can. Just a second. I'm extremely sorry. Hey, can somebody post the link in the group as well? I think I did not paste the link in the group. Faisal or somebody, can you help me? Guys, this invite. Link, Zoom link. Okay, I'll put it. No problem. Some of our people did not join yet. Okay, cool. Okay fine. So I'm just sharing my screen. Okay. Okay. So you can able to see my mind map, right? Everybody give me a thumbs up if you can able to see me, hear me. Screen is clear. Thank you. Thank you. So the big question is in one minute, how do you talk to the people? Okay, like let's say you are getting a call from a person who is saying we shortlisted your profile. We are moving for the next round. Okay. That's how they start the communication with. Or maybe they will call you. Like you have been selected. You. You are going to attend interview next week. Can you send your last 3 months pay slip? So typically this is how the conversation will start. Like. Okay, so how do you crack that? How do you make them understand Very professionally that you are actually going to be a very serious person in order to take that up. Okay, first of all a brief pitch introduction Particularly this person has asked for a fintech based role but I'm covering you pretty much for all the field Also because many people out there here will be interested in educational and healthcare and other field as well, right? Totally. There are six field available but this falls under fintech field. Okay so people who don't know what is six field please watch my earlier programs and courses. You will understand what is mean by the six field. Okay. And every industry falls under the six categories. Good. So yes, the first is strong impression it will lead to a follow up action. Second is one minute pitch. Third is securing focus on securing actions. See, our major objective is not to have a casual conversation and leave the hr. Our. Our major objective is to get them on a call. That is your accomplishment. It is not to get the job. That's not what I'm saying. Listen very carefully. Your major objective is to get them on a zoom call or maybe a design interview or maybe a design task or maybe some kind of a call to action needs to be taken. If they're saying we don't have time, you ask them when time is available. Okay, See guys, whatever I'm telling you just make a note of it and analyze this and then fit to your context what is going to work for you. See this is not a raw learning you can able to directly apply but everything is basics. Okay, write it down, just raw. Try to connect the pieces based on your profile. Your that's why I tell you in the job special program also I tell the students to call them before they go for the interview because that makes all the difference. What happens is we cannot have a syllabus or a video to record this even though I'm going to give you a basics and science behind it. But this is not going to be absolutely useful unless until you know how to use it on a specific use case that will become a terrible what you call terrible problem for you guys. That's why I told you it will many times backfire you if you don't use it properly. Okay, so let me put it this way. If you are going and attending any kind of an interview or maybe if you are, if you are attending any phone call initially at this stage what happens is you will be definitely nervous first you will not know how to talk with these people. You will not know how to tackle the situation. That is why that part I am doing this for you people who Are in the job special, they will know this. Ideally for every interview before I will talk to them, I will make them understand what is the situation. If you do it with me for three or four or five times, then you will get the rhythm, then you will get the flow. Then you will also go through all the silver membership courses and programs and details and everything. You will be absolutely clear what to talk with the people, what not to talk. Main important what not to talk. Don't talk unnecessary things. Today I am going to show you one audio. Also one of our student recently did so lot of things we can correct ourselves. That is the reason I brought that case study also so you can understand. So that phone call, audit. Also I'm going to show you live to you guys. Okay. So many times you should understand. You have to record the conversation, what you're trying to have with the people. And then we can able to audit many times you have to show me the text what you're sending to the recruiters. Then I can able to understand and audit you. Because the more I will you you are able to correct your mistakes, what you're doing, the better chances that very fast you can able to attract recruitment or else the wastages will go high. You will attend lot of interviews and what happens, you will not be able to get any results. Very, very slow results will happen or else you will go into a negative frustration mode. Okay, so how many of you have been through that before? Can you. Can you type out in the chat box? 1. Yes, Jagdish, I've been through that same situation many times. I got rejections after rejections. Even in the YouTube chat you can go, guys, ideally I would suggest instead of zoom, you can go to the YouTube chat and chat there live. In fact, I'll paste the link also. Okay. Because that motivates other people also to chat in the chat box. Yes, yes, yes. Still a lot of people have not joined. But anyway, fine. Since it's a Saturday, people are chilling I guess. Okay, cool. You can go to the YouTube channel and as well as you can type out guys. Okay. First, so second. Okay. Why it is very important, Jagdish. First of all, it creates a first contact with the people. This is most, most important. First impression is the best impression and it helps you to get some interview. That's the important. Second you. In one minute you should be able to talk to the people in a more fast paced manner. So in fact the 40 seconds to 30 seconds is the average time which people have a little attention towards talking. With you, in fact, the Average time is 9 to 12 seconds for people to talk. Resume is 4 seconds. 6 seconds. Portfolio is 40 seconds. 4. But ideally, let's take one minute. If you are not able to gather the exact information to talk with the people in that one minute, you are already failed. Your preparation should start before, not during the call. Please understand this. Your preparation has to start before the call, not during the call. That is why your Codex document, your focused industries, your targeted industries should be absolutely ready. You will know each of the recruiters is going to talk with you every single day. Through a message, through a phone call, through a zoom call. So you should be ready all the time. That in Avatar there used to be on dialogue, right? I'm born ready. Who's that guy Hulka used to tell, right? I'm born ready. What is the dialogue he uses? Can. Can you exactly tell me what the dialogue he uses? He used to tell? I'm born ready. Right? So like that, you should be always ready with this conversation. You should be always ready for that. Ultimately, your Codex document is the mother document. With that only you are going to get clarity here. Because if you are not filling that sheet properly and getting on a call with me and getting to know what is really required, I will tell you what will happen. You will be like, sir, yeah, I'm. I'm so and so. I'm from this place. I did the UI UX course there. I send my portfolio. Sir, can you call me when can we have the interview? This is what you will talk. You will not know what to talk with the people. You are absolutely gone. Okay, so think about it. Many people do make this mistake. That's the reason I'm telling you again and again. Okay, cool. So confidence matter. Okay, we'll come to all these things. No issues. Let me tell you one misconception as well. Okay? See, I need full details to tell to the people while talking in the phone. I need to tell about yourself. I need to tell about myself fully. Oh, I should have talked about this. I should have talked about that. Oh, I mean, I missed it. This to be convocated. No, you just need a basic elements and a key focus on important points. That's it. Okay, I'll be interrupted. Create a natural flow and engaging interviewer. Okay, we will see that anyway. You will not understand much better what is interruption. But we will see it over the time. Okay, fine. So let me first break down that science for you guys. Then you will understand what you can do. Okay, so before that I'm Going to play one audio to you guys. Okay. I'm going to play an audio to you guys. Just listen to this very carefully and switch on your camera please everybody. Okay. So Shantilal, can I play that audio? Shantilal, is it fine?
Yes. Yeah. It's okay, fine you can.
Your voice is really low here. Just a second guys. So I'm just taking this audio so that everybody can learn from here. Okay, fine. So before that I wanted to do one small round with you guys. Okay, Just a second. I want to do a small mockup round with you. Let's say I'm a recruiter. Okay. Let's just. Let's do this role play. Muthu is actually what you call. Muthu is actually a person who is the selected guy? Okay, let's do one thing. Okay. Muthu, come forward. Muthu. Okay, me and Muthu are available. Okay. Yes. So I'm the recruiter. Okay. So you are going to be the guy who got selected. So just answer my questions, whatever I'm asking you and let me see how you are approaching. There is no. There's nothing to judge. Okay. Just casually be there on the call. Okay. Just pick your phone. You have phone with you. Just pick your phone. Okay. Can we start? Can we start? What? You're getting nervous up from tomorrow you're going to get a call like this. What will you do if you're becoming nervous now? Okay, just be casual. No problem. Okay, so let's start this conversation. Hold on. What happened to this? Just a second. One second. Let me also parallel take this so that it will be great. Okay, fine. Ready? Yes. Hi, is this Muthu?
Who is this?
Yeah, hi Muthu, this is calling from ABC Private Limited and you got shortlisted for the next round. Muthu, we saw your portfolio and we would like to know that you're interested in going forward with this interview.
Okay. Sure. Sir, what is the timing of the interview?
Okay, so before that can you tell about yourself a little bit? Because we saw your portfolio, your work and everything is okay. But we just wanted to understand about yourself a little. Can you tell? Yeah.
Yeah. Sir, I just completed my B degree in the month of March at 2024 in engineering college. And I completed a certificate course in UA design. This is how I came to do that. And I am much more, much more interested in color psychology and research, brainstorming. And this is my strength and to know about the leadership. I'm the captain of my college time and I will share my portfolio link with you. You can see my case studies and design portfolio.
So what's your expected ctc? But what.
In the job description there will be a CDC.
No. We are asking you what is your expected CTC?
My expected CTC is.
4 LP colon 12 LPA. Okay. Actually for this role we have only 4 LPA. Muthu, is it okay for you? We are only LPA for this role. Because we don't have any budgets. Actually this time. And our company is not doing really good at this point of time. So 4 LP is a maximum. And moreover you don't have relevant experience, right? You don't have relevant experience in design. And you are also a fresher. And you don't have any degree. So we'll offer you only 4 lpa.
Sir, I don't know.
You don't know what?
I don't know what answer.
Hey man, just stay in the call. The talking you can do later. Okay? Just be in the. Just be the role. Okay? If naturally somebody asks you how will you answer this question? Get back. Okay. Talk now. Since no budget is there and you don't have design experience we can offer you only 4lpm. Mutu, is it okay? If you're okay then we can have the interview.
No sir. I'm not.
Good. Okay. Let's put another person. Let's bring Shantilal here. Okay. Fine. Okay. Shantilal, pick up your call. Mutu, stay here. Don't run away. You are not even attempting to answer. Muthu, what is this? This is not correct. You have to attempt the answer here first. You. You don't. You don't have correct answer, wrong answer and all that is not the point here. You have to attempt first of all that mindset needs to be there. If you are getting scared and running away then when will you learn? Okay. Yes. Hello. Hello Chantilal. How are you?
Yes sir. I'm fine.
We don't have much time. Can you tell about yourself shortly?
Okay. In the early days of college I start with coding and enrolled one UA&US course. In this UA&US course I have so much real time project like healthcare industry, VRAR industry. So this all about myself. I have real time experience in. In this project, sir.
Okay. What? That's it? Okay. Okay. Shantilal. So good that you're introduced yourself. And can you relocate to Delhi? Shantilal.
Yes, sir. It is okay only.
It is okay only. So we are going to give you a unpaid internship only. Is it okay for you? Because we are only hiring freshers for three to six months. So after Seeing your performance for three to six months we'll take you probably for four or five LPA.
Intensity There is type on the Delhi. I think it's not okay.
See you don't have any experience Shantiral. So how should we provide you a full time role? On what confident basis we can give you? Tell me.
Oh I have experience in real time project. So I know them.
So can you tell me about your one project? What is the real time experience? Shortly.
I have one man same problem in project pregnant woman. So I interview at Apollo hospital and I conducted interview and met also. And I ideated 20 plus ideas. In this 20 plus ideas. I evaluate NAR1 idea by using evaluation matrix. And I created a application design. In this application same users can accountability with red. Accountability with red friend. So that is a real day.
That's a real time project you got. Okay. Yeah. It looks like a student project only for me. See I understand. If you have a professional experience you can demand for more salary. And we will also take you for a full time role with 5 or 6 LPA. But for now since you are a student level we cannot offer you. We don't have that much of budgets. Our company is very what you call. We are little startup under medium scale industry only. So we cannot offer you that kind of a salaries. Maybe what you can do is initially maybe 5 to 10,000. We can pay you as a stipend. You can start the work. But after six months based on your performance seeing you we will try to give you 4 or 5 LP. Okay. No.
At least in Delhi trend to US minimum 8.9k. 8 to 9k.
So that and all you have to manage here. Because everybody is starting their career, right. See every single day people are calling us and asking for 30,000, 40,000. Being a fresher we cannot give you that much of salary. We don't have budget.
Yes, but I give my work.
Yeah. So everybody is going to give their best work only Shantila.
There is no doubt about it.
Okay, let me talk to my hr. Okay. I'll call you back. Okay. Just wait. Okay. Shantilal. Hello. Hi Shantal. Actually I called back my hr. So they are saying we are not going forward with your profile. If you are interested you can come for this 8k. We can able to offer you 8k. You can join or else no problem. You can just let us know in the evening. Okay.
Nice.
Okay. Yes guys. So what happened now? So far I just wanted to get back all of the people. Okay, I'll put it back to you guys. Okay. Or maybe we'll keep keep them so that they can also understand. Okay. So what went wrong? First people in the spotlight. Tell me. Let's start with Shantilal. Tell me Shantilal, what mistakes you made?
Salary revolution. The process of start from beginning.
No salary negotiation came last. First what did you do first what did I ask? What did you do? Can anybody type out what mistakes Shantilal did and what mistakes Muthu did? 1, 2, 3. Can you? It's good for everybody to learn there. See, it's not like pinpointing. See if somebody is not pinpointing when will you learn? So treat this as a case study where you can able to learn. Okay. So I want everybody to type out in the chat. Go to the chat box in the YouTube. You can chat even here also. There is no problem in that. But tell what are the mistakes people made? Tell what is the mistake you are also making. I want everybody to type out their mistakes commonly. Jagdish, I have not even received one call from any recruiter. Okay. You don't have to type anything. Totally fine. Expected salary. You have to counter with the industry standards. Okay. You are giving solution. But what are the problem? I'm asking you what is the problem? What are the mistakes Shantilal did? Solution is fine. Solution will come to.
I did not ask about industry details. What are the.
Okay, you did not ask about the industry detail. Good. First mistake. Can somebody write it down in the chat box? As a. As a problem, as a solution. Maybe money. Gandhan, you can write it down quickly. What are the problem we are identifying. What are the solutions we are identifying? Even you can put that in our learning management portal also Managanden. So that people will know what mistake, what answer. Okay. Got nervous in the first place. Yeah. Correct. Both of you got nervous. Guys, do you want job or not? I'm asking you one simple question. Both of you Shantila and Mutu, you just. Just wake up morning, learn some UI ux. Or you wanted to get some results or not?
I need some results.
I'm going to come to your house and hit you. Why is this nervousness coming into your place? Mean what is the problem for you guys to get nervous? I'm asking. You have to get through this zone very easily. You should not feel nervous at all. People who are having no goal, no vision, no mission. They will get into a mode of nervousness. People who have goals and vision and mission. You have to make the other person become nervous. You have to ask them. Sir, are you a HR who is Calling you. I'm getting hundreds of suspected spam calls. Sir, can you please tell me your company name? Please? That person will become little shaky if you ask that question. You take the control in the first conversation itself. You understand, right? When you feel nervous, you have to flip the stone. If you feel that person is friendly while talking, just continue the conversation. The moment when you're feeling nervous, you should flip the conversation with that person. You have to understand. Sir, sorry to ask you what is your company name? Sir. Because you have not introduced yourself what company you are. Okay. You are from so and so company. Okay, sir. But how do you come to know about my profile? Through LinkedIn. Through monsters. Okay, sir. Great. Yes, sir. Tell me what you wanted to know about me. The conversation will be very different when you start with this. How many of you understood what I said now? It's not about confidence here. It's about clarity. Don't talk philosophical topics. First of all, be here. You have to understand. You are going to attend an interview. You are going to give a value, right? For the company to do the projects. They are going to compensate you with the money. It is as simple as that. Why to get nervous in this situation? If you are operating with this nervousness, you cannot cross through this zone, guys. You will get rejections after rejection no matter whatever projects you have in your portfolio. Okay? Okay. Next. What are the mistakes people did? Nishit has observed lot of things here. Really good. Confidence missing while introducing. Yeah, correct. Have to be a professional that people should understand your caliber. Great man is saying fail to talk to about the value he's going to give create super money under. In fact, that's a mistake. You fail to show the value when I'm asking you. We cannot pay you paid internship, unpaid. I mean we can only do an unpaid internship. You should immediately flip that into a conversation to start talking about value. Don't talk about money, talk about value. Again, it depends on case to case. Guys, many times we have to talk both ways. Many times you have to talk the other side. So case to case, it differs. But I'm just giving you a generic proposal. Okay, Generic way of just seeing it. But I would highly recommend for each of the case, please get on a call with me before you go for any interview. You cannot do it alone. Initially you will need at least five rejections to happen. Okay, you will need at least five rejections to happen then. And only you will know what is really happening. So you guys are first time attending in the call with me. And then you're you should not expect much it will happen. But you should cross the zone. You have to call the recruiters yourself and ask. Hi hr. I got your number from so and so. How are you? I heard that you're looking for this. Can I talk? Can we have a short call? You should also able to bring that confidence in you. Your voice should be high as if somebody is put a put a choke in your neck. Muthu is talking. Hi, sir. How are you, sir? What? Huh? What is happening? That itself shows a very clear confidence. That clear message that this person is still not ready for the job. I can take a better leverage of this person. I will fix a salary for this guy. I will fix a role for this guy. I will make this person go to Bangalore or Delhi. It doesn't matter. Whatever cost he is going to incur. They have the control of you. Please understand that. Don't fall into this trap. Okay. Yes. Again people are tapping some more questions. Even if you don't have experience you can't let them know about what you can do with your skills. First the industry and the company goals. Again Nishit, you are giving solution. That's okay. Solution part will come. But I want mistakes. What people have made mistakes and your mistakes also you can type out. That is totally fine. Okay. Arun is saying not putting forward the skills. Great ar. Excellent. You have to put forward the skills first. See, Shantila is telling about project. Project. Project. You tell. Sir, I did this kind of a research which helped me to learn this. I heard that your role and responsibilities also having the skill gap. I would be exactly doing that. When people are asking about your project, your credibility you should talk to them. Sir, can we get on a zoom call? First I would like to show my project. Write it down. Whenever people doubt your question you have to do two things. You have to first talk about. Sir, can we get on a zoom call? Second. Sir, can I talk to your design team or can you give me a design task? Let me prove that to you. The moment when you ask question, you take the control. The moment you are answering the question, you are away. You are like. You're already. One second, guys. One second. Sorry, guys. Okay. So the moment when you are asking a question, you are in the control. The person who asked the question, they are in the control. Please understand, the person who is getting. I mean answering the question, they lost the control. What happens is you will be driven. They'll say you we cannot give you this soft salary. Okay. Sir, you don't have degree. So that's why we don't give you the offer. Okay sir. You wanted to come to Delhi for this. Okay sir. You have to flip. When somebody's asking you a question. You should ask a question. How much salary you expecting? If they ask you, you should ask sir how much salary is capable for your role? For your company to give for this role. If they're asking you don't have any design degree. So we cannot offer you job. Sir, what are the salary you are giving for the person who are doing design? If they're asking can you relocate to Bangalore? Sir, what is the location which you are more preferred for this role to work? Every time when some question is asked, you have to flip the question. Don't be rude guys. Be casual and calm and composed. Don't be in a rude sense to ask this. See these are all like golden nuggets I give for the students. Whoever is attending interview. But the reason why I'm giving you this is. You should know in one minute how to tackle the situation. Okay? Okay. A lot of people are again typing. The real life project has to be explained in a way that HR understands how that can be asset to the organization. Again Nishit solution. Okay, no problem. In a short way need to understand how to explain normal person. Yes, you can read in the chat box. Nishit is giving some solution also. But solution is fine. Guys. First of all you should realize what mistakes we are doing. Okay Problem. Any above was not to explain your own project. A person who doesn't know about the design but to recruiter hr. It would not be of interest if you say complex one. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. You. So in one minute how do you really crack this code? Many times you have to get that person back to the track. One minute will not be enough first of all. But in the one minute if you answer these questions what people are asking you then one minute is already gone. So that is why it's your responsibility to first ask the question. Get in back track with these people. You take the control first before going and start talking. Even if they tell you self introduction, first you ask them. Hi sir. Sir, is it a good time to talk to you? Your background noise is really high. Is it? Okay? Can we talk? Okay fine. Sir. So what exactly you wanted to know about me? I can talk about myself for 30 minutes. Can I talk about projects? Can I talk about my location? Can I talk about my educational background? See the more specific you ask questions, they're driven. Okay. No Muthu, you can just talk about. Tell about yourself, where are you from and what background you have. Because project wise, we saw your portfolio, you're already good. So can you just tell? See, now you are getting the clarity. If somebody is asking self introduction, self introduction, then you can give a very natural pitch. Okay? So that's why I'm telling you. This is having a lot of variables so that that ground and that reality will only determine what you have to talk about. Timing matters a lot. Okay? That's why I give this part to the students on a personal basis. It will not work on a group call basis. Okay? It will only work on a personal basis. And people who have really worked with me in this stage, one week and all people have got three offers. 10, 15 days, they got two offers. The moment when they are getting into the conversation. See, a person like Sneha is there. Sneha has got really faster results just by having few conversation and asking right questions to the right people at the right time. She got results. So results will only come. We have not even talked about any project. I don't know what projects Neha had in the current situation. Also, I did not even ask her one project also you can ask her maybe. But the point is people are expecting your positioning, your clarity, what you wanted to do first. Not the salary part, not the skills part. That and all like very, very minimal. People will understand your behavioral and cultural fit. This is a secret to get the. One minute. Please understand this. If you understood this, type yes. Type yes in the chat box. Guys, please go to YouTube live. Also. Please do that because many people are out there watching live. So it would be really what you call helping them as well to learn. Okay, I. I understand. You guys are inside. You're typing out. That's great. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. Okay, so initiative sync problem throughout the call. It seems like the HR dominated the person due to nothing real. Okay. Okay. HR allows us the candidate this way. Okay. The great Nishi. This is a good problem. And Aravind is telling. He explained the research ideation, narrowing down how but failed to tell the actual problem he solved. Yeah, that's partially right. He has not exactly clearly articulated that. Okay, good guys, thank you so much. I mean, I guess a lot of what you call people are typing out. Thank you so much, Shantilal for allowing yourself to. Fine, but learn it. See, you have to thank the universe because you are in the spotlight that you are learning this. If you want to do. If you want me to unpublish this video on YouTube, just tell me I'll unpublish it just one click away. I'll do it. But I believe you will be learning more once if you are exposing yourself much better. Nothing is going to happen. Let's say even if this conversation is watched by your HR in the future they are going to see you have learned from a mentor who has already know all these things. You are properly trained and they will. It will boost your confidence. Don't think negative about this. Even you have to make a positiveness out of it. Okay, so think about it. Fine. So let me show you my screen. Guys, just a second. Okay, so how to break that? First of all, listen to me very carefully. Again, I'm making this with a caution. This is not the only way. Okay, first of all you have to tell in 5 seconds Introduction why you are calling. Maybe if you are calling, if they are calling, you have to set the context clear. Okay. Sir, you're calling from so and so company for this role. Okay? Yeah. How do you get to know me? Okay, LinkedIn. Okay, got it. Five seconds is done. You should be really clear about it. Okay. Second, first talk about the skills and the achievements. What you got? Like let's say hi, I'm Muthu so and so. And you know what sir, the profile what I saw in your role is actually for a junior level UI UX designer, right? It sounds very generic for me. But what I am really specialized is I do very good research. I'm very good creative ideator. I'm very good in visual presentation. Okay. For research I use Miro and Figjam and other AI tools. Sir, I do an extensive research in ChatGPT and all these things. But in fact I am more interested in synthesizing the data and bringing the insights out of it. That's my big strength. Second, I'm very good in visual presentation. I'm good in using AI tools for Gamma and using figjam for creating good presentation. And I'm also doing Microsoft presentation and I also do basic figma screen building to showcase the work what I got because I'm good in visual presentation, good in research synthesis. This is my skill. And in the next 10 seconds. Sir, I understand that your company's website is also having this problem. I can see that many clients you have did the project. In fact I opened the client's real time project. Also I could see that there are scope which we can improve. I would like to take a design task from user. Can I do it? Because instead of me talking about what I can do for this organization Let me demonstrate in one hour. Are you a designer? Are you a hr? Oh, you're a designer. Then it would be absolutely fine. Sir, you tell me what I have to do now. The time is 6:41. Can we get on a call at 8:00'? Clock? Let me break down how I analyze the website and how do I recreate it. What are the UX laws and principles I'm applying to improve it? Can I try it out? Oh no Jagdish, not required. Not required. We'll do it later. But first of all tell me what's your expectation of salary? See they will now take the question right. When you ask about skills, they will. They'll be feeling that you are confident about that. See whenever your communication, what you're making it conveys a different, different meaning for the people. So you should know how to talk. If somebody is stressing about skill, you have to talk about this. If somebody is talking about, okay, how do you think you are going to fit here? Or maybe tell me the one good reason why are you opting this company? See, this is not only for one minute. This is also for the five minutes call. This is also for the 30 minutes call in the interview, in the live or physical or digital interviews. Okay? So think about this very carefully. All these questions is the only pattern. What you have, only thing is in one minute I'm giving you but you can blow it up for 5 minutes or 10 minutes. Okay? Then once you talk about the alignment of the company then you have to talk about. Okay, so this is what I'm feeling. I'm able to exactly come and solve your problems. I can understand that your client base is very large. You're working with project management teams inside. I talk to many of your employees, sir. I talked about, I understood your company's website. I saw your social media blog, I saw your LinkedIn page. I can see that your company is doing really well in this. But what I also understood is your company has this kind of a pain point. Is my understanding right sir? Yes Jagdish, you are right. That's the reason exactly. I'm telling you we can call to understand it better. Can we have a call in the evening? Can we have a call in the evening? Guys, please be in mute. Kindly be in mute. Somebody's okay, thank you guys. No problem. Switch on your camera guys. Okay. Okay. So the moment when you're talking about this information or this information or this information, you have to immediately get on a call to action. Sir, it seems this conversation is going lengthy. Can we have a zoom call please. Are you available now? Ask a question. Every time you have to ask a question, guys, remember this. Put it in your mind, install it. Tell 100 times. Every single day I have to ask a question. Ask a question. Ask a question. Ask a question. That's it. This is the way to get people in track for you. This is the way to get the best salary negotiation. This is the way to get the job done. This is the way to first talk to the people in a very very proper way. What you intended to talk. Even if you go inside the industry guys, it will be much big problems coming for you. So please understand this. You should always have a mode to talk and understand and also get the answer. And when other person is asking, you should politely reply and get back to a question. The second principle is when you're asking a question, you should listen very patiently. You should not keep on talking, should not interrupt them. You should listen very carefully what that person is telling and give a three second rule. If you ask a question, if somebody is answering, you give 1, 2, 3. In fact you have to give 4, 5. Okay. Sir, I understood that you are telling this answer. My next question is you have to go for that. Don't rush while they're answering. Oh, okay. Okay. Okay. Ah. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Next. Don't be rushing moment. If you are rushing, what will happen is that person will not complete what they are trying to say. Maybe they are still thinking what to answer. You have to give them five seconds. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Good. Sir, I understand that you are that you're not offering freshers for 3.25 lpa at least. What if I ask you I can able to work for free of cost. Sir, I'm not expecting any money. What if I come and work for you and deliver a project in just one month? You look at my profile after a month, why don't you consider me hiring full time? I'm writing an email for you with your senior head HR under your company's email. Okay? If you can accept this for one month, I'm ready to take this role. If it's not, then you have to understand that I'm also traveling from a different field. I cannot do my entire career in a risk. If I do a free of cost and other things, this will not even be considered in my experience. So you have to tell me that what are the credentials which I'm going to get out of this? So I am taking a risk for you guys because I wanted to build the trust. Since I'm a fresher. Absolute fresher. I wanted to do it one month free of cost. I don't expect anything. Let me do it. No. Jagdish will offer you a salary. No, sir. It's not about salary. It's about me coming and offering you value. Let us have a conversation after a month. I'm sending out an email to you. Please confirm me everything. Get it in email. Don't confirm over a phone. Three months after we'll give you 4 LPA. Get it over email. Nobody will give you after three months. 4 LPA. I'm telling you. Why would they give you? You have to ask them an email. You have to confirm over email. Don't confirm over a phone call. Okay. We'll see your performance and then we'll make you confirmed. They will not see your performance. Even if they see a performance. They'll tell you we are not satisfied. 99.99. They'll tell you we are not satisfied only even though you did an exceptional job. How many of you can resonate with what I'm saying? How many of you can resonate with what I'm saying? This is what is the industry. This is what is reality. This is reality. This is reality is always. Remember this. Okay. Reality is always shit. Type out in the chat. Reality is always shit. Because this is what is happening in the industry. Because I'm talking to hundreds and hundreds of students. I can understand what is really going through. And if you are not taking an advantage, you will be swayed away. Yes. Yes, Faisal. Yes, Arun. Thank you so much. But now you guys understood this. You have to take the action to do it. Okay, Jagdish. How to become a master of it? You will have to get into the field, guys. You have to talk to lots of people. From today you should be at least talking to 5 to 10 people every single day. You are deliberately going to call them. You are going to introduce yourself. You are going to ask them for a role. You are going to ask them for an interview. You are going to ask them for a design task. You are going to ask them to come and join them. See what happens. See the biggest power in asking question is ask. Your question should be always to request. Can I try the design task? Can I come into your organization? Why don't we have an interview? Why don't I talk to your hr? Why don't I talk to your person? Who is going to decide the salary? They're saying, right? I'll talk to my senior manager and I'll let you know, I'll talk internally. I'll let you know. Can I talk to your internal team? Can you put them on a conference? Because I've heard enough Mr. HR. Every HR is every day calling me hundreds of HR and then they're saying we'll get back to you. Nobody gets back. And you also know that. Let us understand. If you're really going forward with me with my skills, then give me a design task. Let's go forward or else we can have a conversation with your senior HR also who can able to decide because I have enough skill and I've already show you a portfolio and your company also needs this role. So there is no point of telling this that and all. So let's get on a call to understand so that we'll know the results fast. So you should be able to close that through a call to action and make it count or else you will not get results. Guys, if you are not bold enough to talk exactly what is required. Okay. Are you guys understanding what is a one minute and make sure you're polite show gratitude. Yeah, always you have to be thanking. See I. I use the tone on a road to teach you, but you have to use the tone in a way, in a very polite way. You should talk about Hyzer. Sir, I really appreciate your interest that you're calling me. But to be very honest, your company doesn't have a proper website. Your company doesn't show what real project it is showing. Your company is actually not having a big social presence also sir. So being a fresher, should I risk coming into your organization? Please tell me. If you ask a question like this that HR will not talk about salary. If you ask a question like this that HR will not talk about. You have a degree or not? If you ask a question like this, that HR will go into a little nervousness. If you ask a question like this, that person will be more interested to talk to you further. He will try to talk about his company to convince you. You are taking the conversation around. You are flipping the tone in a way that you are now going into it and they're saying fresher, fresher. We can't offer you salary, right? If you ask this question, sir, I am taking a risk by coming into your organization. You are already having no projects and other things. You are having only few projects. Not in a hard way. In a very polite way you're asking sir, I can see that in your social media and other pages. You are not having much projects and projected in the website and all these things and you have only few clients. See, I'm taking a risk to come and work in this organization. Can you tell me three reasons why should a fresher like me come there? Because I'm little skeptical about it. I got a call from you. I'm also calling you. I wanted to understand, that's why with the person. Or else simply I would have rejected this organization. I would have not even applied for this role. In spite of that, why I'm taking this risk is I saw that in your company there is a role called cryptocurrency. You are doing some project very interesting there. I wanted to know more about that. So if you can give me some clarity about that. If you can make me talk to your HR team or your design team about that, I would be more interested in that role. Can we have that conversation? See, nobody is going to talk to you about salary. Nobody is going to talk to you about degree. Nobody is talking going to talk to you about your skill set. People will ask you, we can have an interview today or tomorrow. That would be the next question. And honestly, if they don't have vacancy, they'll tell you thank you for this interest. Yeah, we don't have projects right now. So what we can do is. Nishit, you can be in touch with me. We'll contact after few days. This is what they'll do. How many of you really got bulb on? How many of you really got bulb bond? I understood a lot of things in this one phone call itself. But again I'm telling you with a caution. This is not the only formula, okay? Every variable is different. Every people is different. Every person's profile is different. Every company is different. Startup is there medium scale corporate design, independent studios and technology based industries. Accelerated industries, growth based industries, sustained industries. Re evaluating industries. There are different types of industries. There are different type of segment of industries. And there are sectors of industries. The variables will be completely different. Guys, I don't want to confuse you but I'm telling you this is a science. You have to learn it. Until you master it, you cannot get it in just one call which we are having just now. I'm just giving you a basics, okay? Just to show you that this is a possibility. I believe I shown you a lot of demo also. Okay, fine. So you can go to my earlier video to watch about the emotional hooks. In fact we Talked about the 12 emotional hooks as well as 5 curiosity hooks. Please go and watch that earlier video. It is very interesting. I've just given you three hoops here, but you can Go and apply everything, whatever is required. Okay. Sometimes you can arise a curiosity. So I'm very interested to know that you are doing some AI project. Can you talk about that? Sir, you're very interested. I. I can see that you're in your portfolio. You did one mind mapping. I can see that your design studio is very small. I can see that your design studio looks very hands on. So can you talk about it? Will I be also doing a work like that? Because what I can see sir, in many design studios they're asking me as a UI UX designer. But they're asking me to only build screens in Figma. Can I also do a hands on research? Can I also talk with your team like that? Can I also do some kind of field visit? Can I use those mind mapping tools and all these things? Will I be also given that opportunity? The moment when you talk to a designer like this, you're. You're flipping away the conversation to salary into a different mode. You're talking about value. You're talking about what you can offer them a solution. See, this is called value driven hook then confident hook. Okay. What are the neuroscience behind it? Jagdish, this is more important and interesting for me. First of all, when you talk with the people with the full attention, when you ask the question, it engages their attention. They will remember you for a lot of time. And then automatically their dopamine hit release because you are considering that person. See, when somebody, when you ask a person a question, they feel psychologically that okay, this person is keeping me some importance. They are caring about me. Okay? Sir, your voice seems very tired. I hope you talked to a lot of designers like me today. It's already 7 o' clock in the evening. I understand your frustration. If you are okay, we can talk now. Or else we can talk. Morning, sir. No problem. Sometimes you have to use the empathy. If it really feels tired, don't use just like that. Okay? Sense that energy. That's why you have to pay full close attention. While you're talking to the people. You're not just talking. You have to understand what is happening on the other side also. Okay. And then the dopamine hit release. Then empathy and trust. You have to tell sir, I'm so and so. And also you have to make the other person also ask you like sir, your colleagues from this company. Sure, fine. Because we are getting a lot of prank calls every single day. They're asking us to pay 5,000 rupees to join this organization. This kind of spam is happening. So that Is why I'm asking. Don't mistake me. You have to ask them. You have to make that person a little shaky. Okay? And how to improve this? Guys, this will only come. This will only come if you're absolutely clear. To make it clear, there is something called codex, okay? Values, goals, practice. There is no shortcut, guys. This is the only way. If you're thinking Jagdish, I learned this skill in a magical way. Absolutely you're not going to do it. Jagdish, can I skip all these things and get job? Absolutely. You cannot get it. You will get only substandard jobs. Whatever you are learning here, guys, today, it's going to be a lifetime learning for you. Please remember that you're really lucky that you are in this call. Nobody's no design mentor is going to ever teach you this because they have hundreds of other things to teach you. According to me, with just one day project, with just one project, you can get into the industry and start this. Guys, that is my ultimate objective. Yeah, you can do it. Absolutely possible. If your mindset, your value, your, your goals, your clarity and your codex document is very, very clear. Without even showing the portfolio, you can get a job. At least six LP you can get. After that, only your true learning starts. After that, only your real deep learning in design starts. We have recorded enough courses for you guys to learn deep all the subjects and all. There is no problem in that. You can go and learn everything. But that learning should not stop you to go and work. I'm telling you that is the reason. Don't think three years I have to complete a degree and go for a job. Absolutely BS and waste of time. First understand, with a skill, whatever you have, you have to make that what you call count and get into the industry. The moment when you're getting into the industry, then your deep learning starts. Every industry is different, guys. After three months only you will know whether this industry really works for me or not. After three to four months only you will know is really designed for me or not. Should I have to make the design as a career or not? I've seen many people getting remorse. Like let's say they don't want this. They feel like design is not for me. After coming into this, they feel design is not for me after getting a lot of rejections in the interview. So three months is first needed for you to understand the job. Another three months is required for you to confirm whether this field is okay for you or not. After 6 months only you can able to aim for 10 to 12 LP. Then and only your career progression starts. Let me tell you, after you get 10 or 12 LPA directly, you can go for 40 to 50 LPA or even 30 LP. You will 3x3x your paycheck once. If you're clear, the big problem starts in the starting stages only. That is why I'm telling you, do one project, do one day project. Get into the industry fast. Because that is where the real struggle is. Once if you're entering into the industry, another more big struggle is there. That is why in the Gold membership, I teach the students job special. The reason is it's not only to get your job guys. It's about making you sustain in that job. There are many courses that we are recently recording. How to sustain in the industry. How to network with the people inside the industry. How to build a team. How to manage the team. How to talk to your managers for the appraisal. How to make talk to your managers for getting you making us a full time employee. These are all like very very subtle nuances and skills with your projects. How you can talk to the people and how you can macro learn. Sorry, Micro learning. In fact, last week we talked about micro learning. So micro learning is very important nowadays. So each and everything is very important to increase your salary. This is called salary maximizer. In fact, in the Level 2 job special, I'll teach you only that. Once I teach you that, then you will be able to go ahead and crack any salaries, any job, any value abroad, India, whatever role. Even if that industry is yesterday flourished like let's say cryptocurrency. You can still go and solve some problems if you understand these basics carefully. Okay? I hope everybody's getting clarity on what we are discussing. So please do understand it. Cold call. Increase interviews by 30% more likely. Follow up appreciated 70%. Hiring managers prefer proactive candidates. 60 second success 40 percentage higher success rate. See, if you use the 60 seconds method, break down this way, you're already getting lot of responses 40 times higher. And also 70% of the hiring managers prefer proactive candidates. That means you should have did your research before, not during the call. Look at the 70 percentage of the managers. Whole call increases by 30%. So understand the statistics, guys. Okay, you can use a tool called Otter AI. It's a very simple use the tool guys. Please record your conversation and send it to me. I'll be auditing your phone calls. Okay, Record your emails and send it to me. I'll be checking what is the email they have given. What are you going to reply. And there is a tool called Hone h o n e. It gives you a feedback on the tone, speed and clarity. And there is another tool also called Yoodly AI. These are all like interview practicing tools. You can able to learn and do it fast. In fact chat GPT can also do a lot of good job. But yeah, pretty much these things will be helping you out. Okay? Yes guys, and also let me welcome you. This is not the only part of it. Please join my upcoming webinar. Lot of people would have watched my recorded webinar. That's okay. But we are formulating another webinar. In fact it will be new for our students. Also this Sunday also we are having some struggle guys because we are running a big campaign. There are a lot of other works which is happening. But don't worry, this morning session will happen. But the 11 o' clock session will let you know. But definitely if you're registering into our system. Okay. Maybe I can able to paste that link for you in the YouTube if you are very interested. You can, you can click there. Okay. People who wanted to join there, you can click there. And also you can bring your other friends. Also it's a free of cost webinar. Before we make it paid. Please come and take an advantage. Every time it will not be the same secrets, it will be different. Different secrets. Okay. Sometimes the objective of the webinar will be for the AI. Sometimes the objective of the webinar will be job. Sometimes the objective of the webinar will be to get your portfolio ready. Sometimes the objective of the webinar will be to get clarity. So many times the theme will be different. So far we have released one theme, we are going to release another. Three themes in the 11 o' clock webinar. Come and take an advantage and you can see the full picture. And ultimately through this program we are empowering one million designers to reach their creative lifestyle. And this is a big initiative. Morning, six o'. Clock. We are doing for boosting the skills for the people. And through this we are also going to create a big national wide hashtag called Wake up India. Wake up designers. We are going to absolutely do that. Okay? And it's going to happen already. We are working with our marketing team and a lot of thousands and thousands of people are going to come in this call. You're going to see that. And also millions of people are going to see this YouTube video live and all these things soon. And we are getting even more higher quality bit rate in YouTube right now. I can see that 720 pixels is going to come in your YouTube live, right? Even though I'm using 4K camera. But the thing is we don't have the premium ones and we needed a lot of budget and other things to be invested for all these things in order to make a stream. Because if you wanted to do a 4K stream in Zoom along with a YouTube, it's damn, damn expensive. So slowly we are also improving. We are also trying to create a best experience for our people who are learning. Even though it's free, even though it's paid, that is different. But everybody has to get the best experience out of what you guys are learning. Okay? So please make your support also. And please do spread a word to a lot of your friends and community who are very serious. Okay? Don't just spread this to random groups in WhatsApp and all. Just talk to people. If somebody is really interested, bring them in and people who are bringing other people. Also, we have a very surprise and a special gift for you guys. Don't worry, we'll take care of that. Okay, fine. So now I wanted to ask some questions. Whatever is bugging you or bothering you, okay? For the few minutes, then we can conclude this call. Sure. I'm opening the floor for the people. Yes guys, go ahead. Anybody has a questions? I can see a lot of chat is coming. Great guys, great, great, great. Thank you so much for understood how to actually ask question. Align our caller. Sir. Yes, Nishit. Great. Yes, understood the point. Okay. Really, I'll waste it. Okay, okay. Not confident, not explain live project. Okay, cool, cool. Yes guys, go ahead. If you want to ask any questions, now is the time. Nishit, you have raised your hands. You want to ask question? Yeah. Sir, I just.
In the first five seconds of the call you are saying that we can.
Introduce ourselves a little and then after.
That we can focus on what they want from us.
Right?
The so like in 5 seconds what are the main points that we should say about.
About? First of all, that will be first based on the interviewer, what is the tone he is giving? Okay. If he has already reviewed your resume, your portfolio, you don't have to talk much. If it is like we got number from our job portal that you applied for a role. Your name is Nishit Malviya, right? Can you tell about yourself? That means that person doesn't know anything. So you have to tell a little bit extra time. 10 seconds, you have to tell. Okay? That's why I told you the script is not a formula, a mantra to Gravity or a moment of inertia formula. It doesn't work that way. Sometimes you will have to go here and there. Sometimes it can go a little bit beyond one minute also. But this is the breakdown. First you can tell like. Hi sir, I'm Nishit Malviya. I'm from Pune. I'm based out here. I did my bachelor's degree here. I'm more of a person who is very creative and very creative. And that is the reason I been an engineer before and now I'm a product designer. So what happened is after. Just a second, guys. So after seeing your company's profile, what I came to know is being an engineer, I'm already having a design skills. So in your organization that creativity and other things is already having a lot of place. I can see your other alumni and designers who's working there is exhibiting that skill set. So I believe that we can have a conversation towards that. Because if you can see my portfolio, I already did very similar projects what you guys have already did. See, you're not only giving you introduction. You're also giving why you are relevant for this particular role. You should be able to combine that two conversation. I told you three sentences, right? It's not only introduction. It's about giving that continuity for the skills. Continuity for the fit. Continuity for the call to action. Because in the first one minute if people are getting to know what is the purpose you have called or they have called. That conversation will go for another one more minute. If that match is not happening, what people will do is they'll try to disengage the call. Or maybe they'll try to tell you. Okay, okay, fine. We'll get back to you. Something like they'll try to avoid that. So again, understand the ground, the reality. Be in the presence of sense. And then you can answer this. Okay. I've given you a format. But anyway, this will come only in practice. Yes, Arun. Anishit, your doubts is clear. Anything you want to ask?
Yes, sir. I've typed the other one in the chat.
Okay, I'll answer you. Let's go for Arun now. Yes, Arun. Go ahead. Arun. We can. We can hear you. Go ahead. Okay, fine. Let me read Nishit question now. Since Arun is not not audible, my question is in a respectful tone. Sir, can we actually say this on a call that if they say that they will call back? Honestly would appreciate that the call will with the internal person. Can we connect? Because most of the times I don't get a call back. Okay, this is a Very good question. Please say something like this. Okay. First of all, again, understand the ground reality. This is not a one size fits formula. If they say we'll get back to you, you should ask the question when are you getting back? Listen very carefully. If they say we can get. We are. I mean we'll get back to you. When are you getting back? I have to talk to my internal team and we'll call you. When are you calling back? We'll review your portfolio and then we'll get you back. When are you calling back? This is a polite way to ask, right? You're not asking any rude here. It's only polite every time. Question, question. Remember that. That's. That's what I'm saying again and again. Okay? Whenever they ask a question, ask a question back. If they say we'll confirm you the offer letter. Tomorrow, sir. Tomorrow. When can you send me? Tomorrow morning. Sir, tomorrow morning 9 o'. Clock. You have to tell that you are already having busy schedule. That is the reason you're asking a specific time. They will already know if you're asking a question like this. Tomorrow afternoon, can we call if they're saying sir, 3 o' clock is okay for you? Because 4 o' clock I have another appointment. Oh, 3 o' clock. You are busy, sir, can we do it at 4:15 or 4:20? Is it fine? You should always ask a time, date, a particular week, month, year, close. This follow up comes with the specific points. Don't ask. I will get back to you. Nobody will call you back. Guys. Why would they call you back? Even if they tell time, you have to follow it up with them tomorrow. Hi sir. How are you? Sir, you said you called me at 3 o'. Clock. I understand you're super busy, that's why you missed the call. So can we have a call now? What happened? You are able to get some answers for this? It's already 4 o'. Clock. So that's the reason I called you, sir. Sorry. Follow up. Money lies in follow up, guys. Money is there in follow up. In fact, in our courses, I told you very detailedly how to create a follow up strategy for these people. Because everything now whatever I told you will seem very fancy. But ultimately if you are not doing follow up, you are not going to get any results out of this. I'm absolutely telling you for sure. Fine. Got it.
