Day 23- Wicked Problems- How to Find connections- Hackathon 90 Days Challenge

Jagadeesh P leads a live session on waste management system failures, guiding participants to identify connections between causes like government policies, awareness, manpower, and infrastructure. The group collaborates to find patterns in what makes these problems hard to solve.
Make a note of it guys, because I cannot teach a different topic today. It should be aligned with the hackathon also. That is the reason I have taken the taken this topic very carefully. Listen, this is most important part of the system design class, okay? And if you understand now, only you can able to take this as an activity and do it. Just a second. Okay, so I'm just switching back the mode. Okay, excellent guys. So welcome to this skill booster session. And also for the people who are already attending this hackathon inside my community, I'm just making this a live stream from my Zoom call so that people can able to watch it. Okay, so first of all, we are talking about systems. So everybody has typed out what are the systems according to you, where do you see as a failure? Where do you see as a reasons for that failure? So now I'm going to share you one important information. Okay, just a second. Just can be clubbed, guys.
Lack of education. We can connect with people.
Okay, good.
Lack of awareness.
Okay, what else? Accountability. What else? What else?
Lack of maintenance with lack of system.
Lack of system in place. Okay, somebody's talking but we can't hear their voice. Responsibility and accountability, where is that? Somebody's talking but we can't hear them. Ignorance. Maybe we'll call it as awareness. Negligence will call it discipline. Will call it as a policy. Poor cycle of waste management system in place. Can we put it lack of interest. Can you put it as awareness? Lack of practice. Every. Every comes by the practice. Lack of practice. Every. I just copy pasted. What happened? Lack of practice. Okay, fine, let's he have this. Okay, lack of practice. Let's put this. Okay, so now what happened exactly? In front of you, can you type what I did now? Type out of the chat, guys. What did I do now? What did I do now? Interconnected, creating a system, arranging the problems. Okay, good, fine. People are almost getting it. Okay, so now I am exactly not arranging a system. I am trying to find out what is the real reason for it. Okay, I found out in my level one, like let us this is the reason. In my level two, I found out this is the reason. Now let us break down why people are having problem in knowledge to learn this, why there is a lack in education, why people are ignoring why negligence is happening, why lack of interest is coming, why people are having poor discipline, why people are having irresponsibility, why people are not having practice. Can you guys give me one reason here? Lack of maintenance. Current system. You're seeing, right? So why like let's Say budget could be one reason. What are the other reason? Careless, huh?
Careless accountability.
Poor. Careless. Next. What?
Less population.
Less automation. I don't understand.
Population.
Less population. Okay, guys, if you can type the cap also it will be chat also. It will be better. Okay. Less population. Now. Less population.
High population.
High population here. That's what I'm asking. Okay. Okay. High population. What else? What else? What else? High population. Then what else? Scam. Scam in. Scam in once. Okay, what else? What else?
So. Education. Simply so. It's like educated people can maintain their problems.
No education. What else? What else? Come quick. What else? Scamming the funds. No education. Think about it more. Only with respect to lack of current maintenance system. Okay. More. More and more answers. I want more answers. What is the reason for the poor maintenance?
Lack of members to maintain the current system.
Lack of manpower, man.
Manpower. Yeah.
Okay. What else? What else? Lack of manpower. Then what else? Lack of tools. Can I talk about that? Yes. Okay. Maybe we don't have tools. Current system is majorly lacking. Faisal, ideally you should give lot of answers here. Hello. Where are you? You're leaving the call. You're coming. Where are you? We are only taking your problem statement. Guys, everybody switch on your camera fast. Okay. Sir, my Internet is bad. That's why it's happening. It will be always a problem. Okay, fine. No, for today I understand. Okay. What are the other reasons? Guys, please tell me. You can type in the chat box. P. No problem.
Lack of space.
Lack of space. Okay. This is interesting. What else? What else? Think little bit out of this context. Guys. Bring more perspectives from outside to here. Okay. We are trying to map out a problem. A causes. And then we are trying to map out the connectedness around it. Okay. Negligence of staff. Okay. Negligence of staff. Then what else?
Periodic surveillance.
Period.
Periodic surveillance.
Okay. I mean I just bad with the spelling. But anyway, I've just typed it out. Great. Okay. Okay. What do you think? I think a lot of people are also typing out in the chat as well. Okay. Nish. Lack of accountability. Negligence. Okay. That's great. That's great. Okay. No problem. Fine. So. Yes. A lot of people are typing out negligence of staff. Periodic surveillance. What else? What else? Go ahead. Government doesn't consider it as a serious and not taking action about workers. This is great point, Kiran. Okay. Government. I would say negligence. Right? That's how we can shortly put it. Right. Negligence. What else? What else? Come on.
Lack of fallen gifts.
Lack of volunteers. Why people are not talking about lack of social media presence for it. Lack of Social media lack of what you call widespread digital mass communication. In fact, we are not knowing it. People are not cooperating with workers to maintain cleanliness. What is that called? People? If they're not cooperating with the people to. To coordinate for cleanliness, what is that called?
Ignorance. Responsibility.
Okay, so now let's do one activity. Can we club this into different different categories?
Yeah.
So what can we club? Tell me.
Ignorance and the carelessness. Can we clousness?
Where is ignorance? People? Ignorance.
Last one too.
Okay. What else? What else?
If we lack of volunteers can be clubb. The carelessness too.
That's great. Super Google. Google is trying to find some connection. Can you see? Guys, There is a connection between carelessness and lack of warranties. How many of you understood this point? How many of you understood this point? Now this is where you're learning now Systems. Can you just tell me what are the. What is the connection between carelessness and lack of volunteers? Tell me.
Carelessness makes.
You understood. Gokul. I'm asking others. Excellent. I can see one reason coming in the chat box. No penalty system for breaching rules. Arin. Wonderful year. I really appreciate you. No penalty. That's great. So that means no reward. I would say this way also no reward for the people who are doing good things, right?
Yes.
If you're taking penalty, I should also tell this way. Great. Okay, let's come back. Okay. Budget and lack of tools. Yes. Fal. Fal. Come on here you are 10 years behind. We are already gone into multi. Okay, fine. Okay. What else can we club? Guys?
Scamming, scam, Education, Penalty, reward. All can be plumbed with the government. Negligence.
Scam. Lack of tools, lack of tool, lack.
Of space, lack of power. Penalty and reward.
No penalty. You are putting it in government. Okay.
No reward.
Guys, we can't put everything in government. You have to think about other things also, right? Okay. Huh? No education. Negligence of staff. Can we put it here? High population. Government can't do anything. Surveillance.
Where do we put budget? Also can become under scam. Budgets can come under government negligence. Budgets.
Where is budget? First one.
First one.
Okay. Can we put it here? Okay. Budgets. Okay. Okay. What about this? High population, Lack of social media. Lack of widespread.
Widespread can become under social.
Okay. What about social media? Can we put it in awareness? Can we put it in awareness? Guys, Will it be okay? We are careless.
Yes.
Are you guys getting it? That's what I'm trying to ask you. Are you seeing the interconnectedness of this reason with this no education. Where do we put high population?
No education also can be put in careless.
Don't try to force fit here. How come no education will be there in careless. So nowadays but they don't have education.
Government.
Everything.
You should high population.
Yeah. Okay. This is a great connectivity. Who said that? Who said that? High population, no education. Kiran, you will become a politician here. Please apply for. Okay. Great. Okay. So what is really happening guys? Can you see something is happening here. Can you see something is happening here. So what did you observe so far? What's happening? What is happening now?
In front of us we are grouping our problems.
The grouping is. Okay. What is happening? Of course we are clubbing some information. But what is really emerging out of this activity? Can anybody find out that?
Patterns.
Patterns. What patterns you are finding out so far you're narrowing down. Good steamy bars. But what we are emerging by narrowing down. That's what I'm asking. Simplifying the problem. Simplifying the problem. That's great. Punisher stripe. Polarizing towards single path. No, no, no. That is not exactly right. We are in fact finding out the possible parts. We are not polarizing towards one path. That is biasedness. Okay. That's not correct. Finding the major problem. Who typed this? Kiran. Excellent. Here. Exactly. That's what we're trying to find. We are training out. We are trying to find out the major problem. See can you see in this first session like let's say this first we had a lot of problems. Okay. And also there are interconnectedness of each of this available. But we are trying to find out even more narrow down. Even more narrow down in order to find out if this could be the maximum impact. So I am just stopping the screen. Guys. Now listen very carefully. I am just stopping the screen. Okay. So now everybody knows about this. Let's take waste management only. Okay? We'll not talk anything else. I will give you 5 minutes time. Okay? Till 6. 26. Use any AI tools, use any Google search. I want everybody to bring out five statistics and type in the chat box. Okay? Your time starts now. You know the topic, what we're doing, right? And you know the reasons what we are typing out. Okay. Everybody knows this including the people in the YouTube. So find out five statistics regarding this topic. Which is going to be very useful for our problem here. Can you do it fast? I will give you five minutes. I'll switch on the timer. Okay. Because activity needs to be done. You should also ideally do that activity. Just a second. You don't have to find the solution and I'm asking about the statistics. I'm not asking you to find any solution. Find some relevant statistics and data for this reasons. Whatever you're thinking. Many reasons we have found. Right. Many reasons we have found. Find out some interesting statistics. Use AI tools very quick. You can able to get it in minutes. I'm not asking you to find any solution. Yes, Neha, you are right. Great. Yeah. Faisal, I can take your problem also whatever you typed out. Good. Everybody has to login into their laptop and do it. Please don't do it in mobile. Okay, let's see people in the YouTube chat. Yes, guys. Nishit, lack of accountability can be clubbed with negligence. Okay, what else? Nishit, what else? Nishit is bring some five statistics from the online. Let's see it. Five statistics guys. Not one or two or three. I need five stats for the people type out in the chat. And people, last chance. In the next five minutes I'm removing the attendance guys from the portal. Kindly go and mark it to get 100 points bulk. Okay? Because yesterday, today and hackathon combinedly I've given you 100 points. Please go and take it down. Okay? Excellence. Neha, that's great. But Arun, that is only one start. India's overall recycling rate is around 20 to 30%. Far below developed countries. Okay, good, but what about the remaining four? Yes, Faisal, Pakistan generate 48 million tons of waste with 50. Okay, go. Only three points is coming over. India generates around 65 million some waste. Okay, okay, fine. So there is some reason emerging. Okay. Plastic waste, E waste, landfill over segregation and recycling. Okay, let's take this. Okay, what else, what else? One more minute. Yeah, one more minute. Only total waste collection people are giving statistics. Guys, go beyond that. Go beyond that. Use different keywords. Try to search and find out the reasons and their statistics. We have found out almost 30 to 40 different reasons now. Okay, Please use your different keywords. Guys. Everybody's almost typing the same. Waste collection. Waste collection. This much collection. This much collected. No, think little differently. Muthu has typed out a very different point. Converting this waste into a significant estimate that 65 gigawatts of electricity could be done. That's interesting. Good. What else? This sounds like a solution here. But find out the statistics which is for the possible causes and the problem. Okay, what else? What else? I'll give you another more minute. Please do it. Okay. 62 millions of municipality waste is annually generated in India. Expected to rise. It's okay, Arin, but try to type up. Try to give some more statistics. This is like everybody Is almost ting the same thing Guys please be unique. Please be very different and you guys have the reason, right? Very specifically please bring out that Again people are only type waste collected. Collected corrected According to national Green tribunal public littering remains widespread. 90% talk about awareness guys. Talk about ignorance, talk about knowledge. Talk about the lack of infrastructure why people are not finding statistics there. See don't be a guy who is just picking out the first information which is coming in the google and just giving that. Don't do that even in the chat GPT. Okay. 30% of population is aware of the practice waste. That's interesting. Some people have typed about some awareness. Wait Muthu. The population is aware of the practice waste. Public participation in waste management initiatives is minimal. This is good. I really like that statistics. What Muthu said Survey Swachhbar Swachh survey. It was found 61 respondents considered waste management the sole responsibility of. That's good. Okay fine. So a lot of people are typing out various reason for this. Okay so let me go back to my mind map. Listen very carefully guys. Okay so now. Sorry, can you see my screen? Can you see my screen?
Yes.
So like let's say there is one statistics which Kiran has said. Okay so like let's say I will go into the policy and legislation updates globally about. Okay, let's talk about lack of policies as one reason. Type out this information. Fine. This is one stat. And only 20% of the household in India are practice waste segregation. Okay let's talk about this for awareness. Okay let's put people ignorance. Okay fine. Good. And let's talk about Faisal's stat. Pakistan faces 60% of the waste collection rate due to inadequate. Okay. Okay. Global data. We'll talk about policies. Okay fine. This is. Okay, so now we are trying to get some data. Like let's say if you take this information. Let's. Let's talk about this one guys. Okay, okay listen to me very carefully. So what people have typed out in the chat boxes There are a lot of statistics which is coming. Okay, I'm just picking out the few. So how you can able to arrange this statistics based on the information. Whatever there. Like let's say 20% of the household in India practice waste segregation at their source. Remaining 80. 80% of the people either mix all types of waste or unaware. See this is relating to ignorance. Okay, can you see 20% of the household in India practice waste segregation at their source. An 80 percentage not knowing is actually two informations available for you. Like let's say this 80 percentage is not unaware of that. Can we club that to policies? Is there a way? Can we connect this back to the policies? Are you guys understanding what I'm asking you? Can we club this information? It's reminding 80 percentage is there. Can we club this to policies? Can we club that to education? Can we club that to unawareness? Can I club that to reward? Can you guys tell me why I'm saying that? I'm just deep, deep diving one topic. Okay, one stat remaining. 80, 80% of the people either mix all types of waste or they're unaware of the importance of segregation. Good. Can you see the correlation between this point and this point? Like let's say 80% of the people are not aware. Let's take that. Let's say if policy is not made in a way to treat the waste, which is 80% of the waste, how come people will be doing that? That could be one possible reason, right? So again I am writing out policy could be one reason why they're not doing it. Second, maybe people discipline. I'm writing out again. Okay, maybe people are aware. 80, 80% of the waste is already there. But scam like let's say people are going and giving the waste back but the segregation industries are not doing their job first. Okay, let's understand that segregation industry. There is a issues happening. We don't know yet. But I'm just trying to narrow it down. Okay, and then what else you can club? See, I'm not asking the reasons, I'm asking where you can go and club it. Like let's say can we club it with social media? Maybe because people are not spreading enough information in the social media. That is also one big reason why people are not aware. We cannot always blame government and education and ignorance and policies. Please listen very carefully. Can we try to club social media here? See, there is no absolute connection between this. But I am trying to deliberately make the patterns. Are you guys understanding earlier what we did is there was a patterns, we clubbed it. But now I am deliberately drawing the pattern. That is the difference what we are doing now compared to the before activity. I'm trying to draw the parallel here. Okay, I'm just taking one point as an example. I'm not taking much things. Okay. I'm just taking one thing. Okay, so the study across Indian Cities revealed that 30 to 40% of were were aware of the waste segregation rules. Despite efforts by the local government, citizens are aware of the waste segregation rules. A study across Indian Cities revealed that 30 to 40%. Okay, this is one information but is, will it be useful for me? That is the main point. Will it be useful for me? Okay, now can I put it in the policy? People are already knowing that in terms of the. In spite of policies happening, people are still knowing it. But can we do with this information? Anything? Right now we don't have anything. Just keep it. Okay, so can we draw some other parallel? Guys, I'm just zooming out a little bit. Can we draw some other parallels here? I want you guys to answer now. I'm just trying to find some parallel. Like let's say if no scam is happening then maybe this remaining waste can get segregated. Like let's say if people are having some set of a discipline through which policies could be made. I'm seeing a pattern inside this itself. Okay, like let's say every single month people has to donate this much of waste for the government. If they are not doing, they will be charged 10% more extra tax. Let's say if a government is charging like that, okay, ideally you are paying like let's say 2000 rupees per month as a tax. But if you are not giving 10kg of waste to the municipality from next month you will be charged 4,000 rupees as a tax. Will you not go and give the waste to the government? Municipality, government will not come and take it. You should only go and give that if let's say a rule Modiji is putting tomorrow. Imagine. Okay, do you think everybody will go and put their waste or not? Tell me yes or no. So there is the absolute connection between 80% of the waste getting untreated and then people's discipline and then policy and then government. Can you see this? There is a tangibility happening between these factors. Nobody has found out this pattern. I'm just trying it out. Okay, can you draw some parallel, a meaningful connection from this data? I'm just keeping it open for you. Can you draw one pattern which will make sense? Don't give me some random threads. Give me a thread which can make sense. Can you think about it? Can you type in the chat? I want everybody to now think. Don't give generic points. See how I found the pattern between 80 percentage waste not treated, policy, people discipline, how, how government can able to do that. A potential I showed you. But give me a thread like that.
Going through social media. Sir, while people have putting their waste under uploading, social media can get a reward in a particular place. When we post in the sir, we can get rewards.
That's good. This is one pattern. We can bring the Reward and we can put it in social media. Good. But only through patterns. Two patterns is coming. Can you give me four or five different threads for this? That should make a big sense. Okay. Right Now I understand 80% of the people are not doing and social media you're asking to post them. That is okay a little bit solution is also coming majorly. I wanted to find you a thread and a pattern. Analyzing this earlier information.
The last shots China recycles about 30 percentage of its waste. And struggling with rapid organization and insurance recycling technologies. So maybe the lack of tools can come under this. Lack of tools or space? Lack of tools and lack of space because of the China struggling.
It's fine. Okay, so what I'm asking you Gokul is it Is it is okay to find the club the reasons. But I'm asking you to find a meaningful thread and a connection. You just now you're clubbing the data. That is fine. That we already did. Now what we're trying to do is finding out a thread and a pattern. Finding out a thread or a pattern which is among the system only. Okay. In fact I can take lot of information. Whatever you guys have shared. That's okay. But it should not confuse you too much. That's the reason I have not put everything. Okay, let me do that. Fine. But meanwhile can you go and find it out what is the reason inside it? Okay, let's take Arun's data also. Okay. Okay, let's take this information. Can you guys see my screen? This is it visible for you guys? Okay, I'll take some more. I'm just putting out some information. It's not about the information guys. It's about how you guys can able to take the pattern out of it. That's what I'm looking for.
From the reasons that is that you pasted. 12:40 Landfills across India are overflowing causes by overpopulation.
Okay.
That also causes for lack of tools, lack of space because the population due to population increase.
This is great. This is a great, great finding. Super. Okay, how are you connecting that further money. And I understand you found out two threads. But can you find the third thread and the fourth thread also?
Yeah. When. When people gathering at a particular place the pest management system collapse there.
Okay, so what I'll do is lack of space. Okay, I'll club it here. This is good. Negligence of staff. We're not able to find out which area. Okay, that's fine. And landfills are happening. Lack of space and what else we can. Lack of tools also lack of tools. Also okay, that is good. Fine.
No budget. Lack of.
No, no, no. Lack of space is fine. Lack of manpower. Give me a pattern. How are you connecting the lack of manpower here? 1200 landfills are happening. That's okay. And no space is there. Definitely we can understand. But how are you connecting as a. As a pattern now it should make some meaningful connection. See we can make some random connection guys. For this point, to this point. It's okay. We can take one point randomly from here and then we can connect it here. That's not a problem. But it should make a sense.
If you are working. If you are working for thousand people, we should have at least manpower for 10. Okay, that's also comes.
That's good. Now I'm. Now I'm making a sense. Good lack of manpower, good.
Budget. No budget. Budget also comes into this. I think.
That'S good. Okay, fine. So workers are not able to know where any container is full or not. By doing that research we found out that 1200 landfills across India are overflowing and some reaching full capacity. And why people it is why it is reaching full capacity is we don't have space. Why some space is not happening. And what is the reason we are able to find out for that is maybe lack of manpower to segregate this or no budgets to segregate it. Or maybe can you find some statistics Manikandan regarding to lack of space with respect to this stat. Okay, I'm just giving you this in the chat box. Okay, I'm just pasting this in the chat box to you now. Okay. What happened? Okay, sorry. You can take this point earlier. Point you ignored. Put everything. Leave that. Okay, fine. So can you find relevant information with risk aspect? 1240 landsvilles. No space, no manpower, no budget. Yeah, somebody was talking. Yes.
India has seven ways to waste to energy plants processing less than 1 percentage of this country waste. First one, by converting we can convert the wastes into energy, sir. But then a lack of spacing can damage this lack of spacing. When we have more spacing to store the wastage, we can convert continuously, sir. And lack of manpower for this steps.
No, no. How are you connecting this? I'm not able to see the connection. So you're saying seven waste to energy plants is there less than 1% of the country waste. That's okay. How it is connecting to landfill and this?
Sir, I'm not connecting with landfill, sir. And then I am creating in another one.
No, no, no. Creating means fine. There should be some thread here. I'm saying it's good that you're finding it. But there should be at least two or three threads connected to this. That is what I'm looking for. Or else it becomes a what you call a random connection. We can do it, no problem. But it will not have a yielding proper results for you. Okay, tell me one more time. Maybe I'm trying to find out a pattern. Tell me one more time. So this much of waste is there 7 waste to energy plants is happening. But they are processing only 1% of the country's waste remaining 99 percentage is not treated. That is what is the understanding, right?
Yes, sir. By lack of storage and no, no, no. Not having a proper knowledge about this process that we people are lacking their wasting their energy, sir. Which again from in a waste.
Oh, so you're connecting the unawareness of the people lack of space to this. Am I right?
Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
Okay, but try to find out two, three patterns. This is like one pattern only is coming out. But how can you draw a parallel between this point and this point? Can you guys try to club this point and this point?
Sir, there is the 1240 land preserved and there is there is a lack of space. And by connecting to that there is available of someone waste to energy plants. There is an enough of landfills. There is an enough of energy plants. But here then the. The percentage of waste was high. But converting the waste. Yes, copper one or two re reusability was very low.
Excellent.
The. The landfills remains. Landfills. The energy system remains. Energy, energy.
This is what I'm looking for. Wonderful pattern was found. Now, okay, see, there are a lot of landfills available. Okay? Plenty, in fact. Okay, but conversion is very low. Listen to me very carefully, guys. Okay, this is where. This is what I'm trying to understand. But conversion is very low. So can we try to create a system in a way, Okay, A system which can able to take care of the landfills which is coming and getting treated in this 1% resources what we have because already 1 percentage is running. Okay, can we bring this 1240 landfills specifically? Okay, instead of telling I will reduce the waste waste. Now we are very much narrowing down for the 1240 landfills. Whatever you're having. Can we treat, can we create. Can we put down a system in a way so that this can go back into recycling? So that the conversion becomes high. Can we have a system for making the conversion high? Okay, so what else? Good, Arvin. Excellent pattern you have found out. So can you find out some other pattern also inside this?
Sir, the lack of space was club with the landfill, sir. But we. We don't need more space to put the landfills. We need more space to process the waste only.
That's good. This is another pattern. Good. More space for treatment, right? Conversions.
Yes sir.
Good. Okay, so now I will give you another four minutes, guys. Okay, 6:50 is the time for you. Can you find out one meaningful pattern? One thread. But the thread should have five different connections. Not one, not two, not three, not four. I need five different connections. You should tell from the end to end. Don't go any other topic. Just only talk about this. Talk about only this specific topic what we are discussing. Okay. Landfill treatment. Because everybody is almost seeing this as an example. I wanted you to find some meaningful connection. If you need to find out any online source, do it. No problem. Bring out some relevant information which can able to strengthen this area to give us a connection. You should not randomly tell something. You should bring out a value or a stat or an information. Same like how we now found out a connection between this and this. Right? We did that. Now can you find out one connection? But that should have multiple touch points. A thread should be there. Sorry, one thread but multiple connection. Okay, so it should have a meaning to that. It should not be random. Okay, I'll give you four minutes. Like let's say 6:51 we can catch up. Cool. Can you do it? I'm just keeping the screen open for you so that you guys can do it. Okay. Anything is there you can able to refer back. I'll keep it as it is. Like that. Okay. Can you see my screen, guys? Is it fine? You can see my screen, right? Or you want a little zoomed in? Maybe I'll try to zoom in only this region. Is it fine? Gokul, Everybody ar fine now. Yes sir. Cool. I'm just keeping it so you guys have another four minutes. Okay, so try to find out that one line of thread and five different connections. Put your brain to work. Think about multiple things. Use chat GPT. Use whatever you want. But we need connectivity. Yes. So were you able to find out something? Okay, another one more minute please. Do it. No problem. Let me see in the chat box what people are typing out. Okay. Lack of volunteers. Only 20. Household segregation. More volunteers, More people looking into the purple, doing their part, getting motivation. Excellent nation, Excellent nations. Fine, fine, fine, fine. Very good, very good. So you guys are finding out some patterns. That's great. Okay, so now. Yes guys, time's up. So where you're able to find some connection? Type on the chat Were you able to find some connection? Or maybe you can open your mic and talk. There is no need to chat in the chat box. You can explain in the words no issues. Come on. Were you able to find out one thread?
Go ahead, sir. I find. So mainly that is government. So under government we can supply.
One second. One second, one second. Okay. Yeah, tell me.
So main thing, we can keep it as a government. So under that we can make a threats connections. Which is so in that. That is a fourth line. It says 70 percentage of people does not have indication about that.
Correct.
So which means they are not educated. They are in the old older age. So it is there. So we can throw it up. So they are not educated or they are not get well knowledge about waste management. So we can reuse it. So there may be a volunteers also someone to educate them. Our government can take education. Our government can educate them by advertising or by making a camps by giving a chance to change by themselves. So we can have government and if we in the recycling process. So there are many wastelands are available. So government may take over it and use it for basically best collecting landfills.
Okay.
And government a lot more peoples and officers to manage this.
Okay, tell me the connections. Exactly. I understand what you're trying to say, but how much systems are you connecting here? Government.
And awareness and volunteers fun and the budget and lack of space and tools.
Lack of space and tools. No, there is not. There is no absolute connection in the lack of. Okay, you're saying it could be connected for the people who are available and we can utilize them as a resource. You're saying okay, it. It looks like a connection, but I would not say it is a strong connection. Yeah, it is a connection. Good. You are in path. You are thinking rightly. That's what I wanted you to do it. Okay, but try to strengthen this. How do you strengthen this? You can strengthen it by finding out some relevant information statistics and finding out a meaningful connection. People should see. Wow. Yeah, this is exactly the gap here. This is exactly what we were looking for. See when we found out this Aravind when he said 1240 landfills are overflowing. But one way people are saying no space is there. Otherwise people are saying only 1% is getting retreated. See, there is a huge gap, right? Like let's say if I'm a business owner, if I'm thinking like a product designer, I would see this as a huge opportunity. I'm talking for everybody, guys. Okay, Think about it. I'm thinking like a product designer to find out There is a huge gap here already and it is not a fake gap, it's real gap. Whatever you are saying Gokul, it is having lot of weak connections here. See, I'm not, I'm not pointing out somebody. I'm just trying to take your case. That's it. Okay. To explain how we can able to think in a very stronger way. Because if you're thinking in a system, you should think about the interconnectedness of it. Okay? Like let's say we'll take this thread what you have. Let's say if you had one layer to it, like let's say people psychology, if you'll add another layer to it, human centric design, if you add another layer to it, like let's say people's what you call digitalization knowledge. Like let's say people don't know how to use digital tools and people don't know how to use the mobile and computer. That is also a lack of education. We can see, right? So even if you take all the systems in one place, if you add a lot of variables like let's say human centric design, user experience design, digitalization, social media, you can also club it and make it like a holistic system. And still you can strengthen this. You can bring a lot of statistics to it and you can find a problem statement saying people are not having awareness and government is also ignoring this remaining population. Why don't we have a system in place so that which can bring back the retired people or maybe the people who are out of the system who are not having a proper job and provide them an employment where they can able to be built. They can able to put in a system where they are building some resource conversion of the waste, okay? Through which employment is generated through which government is also able to upsell a certain product. Like let's say if I'm taking the waste for you, paper is a waste. But for me I'm building a craft around it and I'm selling that craft, okay? Paper is very low cost for you. Like let's say 5, 10 rupees is the actual paper cost rate. That's what people per kilograms do. But I will build with that paper a very good craft. And handcrafts are very expensive, right? And you can tell that handcraft for even 100 rupees, 200 rupees. You have got it for 10 rupees. But I am selling it for 100 rupees. I'm paying 10 rupees tax as a government fee, right? Ideally I should pay some Tax also for the government. So you're also getting benefited. I'm also getting benefited. People are also getting some value benefit. Government also can see the tax. Can you see something happening here? This is called connectivity. This is called bringing out something from the statistics and making the interconnectedness and upscaling it. Also you can able to think about human centric design. Okay, why people will be able to really buy this, what people really need. Like let's say now people don't have this kind of furniture which is paper made. This is a big gap in the market. You can find that product gap. Okay? People are now looking for paper based furnitures. Let's say you found out a gap. In fact that is a real gap also. By the way, one of our seniors who did the project, paper furnitures, you can find that. It's a very interesting topic also like let's say when you take online, okay, Paper furnitures, can you see here? This is all made in paper. You will not believe this is completely made out of paper. Can you see here it's completely made out of this cotton box, this thick paper brown sheet. This is completely made out of paper. Okay, See for you it is waste. For me, I'm recycling. For the customer, he's going to pay for that. For the government, they are going to get tax waste only. But see how is the economy happening because of that? It's not because you have thought it, it's because somebody else have taken the action and they have understood that there is a gap in the market and they have served it with a product. See, this is completely waste papers, recycled newspapers, can you see? I mean this is a big market. I know this because I've been, I've been reading through this and I've got a lot of awareness also regarding this. Look at this. It's a. It's a carton box. But when you arrange a carton box in this manner, people can sit on it. It can able to sustain a weight. So you don't have to think about always digital, digital, digital. Think about other ways also. But the end of the day you are trying to find a thread and a pattern. That's what I'm trying to help you. So are you guys finding out what I'm trying to say? I want everybody to answer this question. Are you guys finding out some pattern makes sense? Type out yes. If it doesn't make sense, type out no, no problem. I'll explain you again, not a problem. Because it's not very easy to get this topic. It's Little tricky. I try to make it very simple. Yes, Mu. Thank you. Anybody type or no? Also guys, if you're not getting that, please. Thank you. Mu. Thank you, Shibas. Thank you Gokul. Thank you. Sneha. Thank you, Arvind. Thank you, Faisal. Thank you. Thank you. Excellent guys. And also I can see in the. In the chat with the people. Just a second guys. What's happening around our friends? Let's see them as well. Okay. Yes, yes, yes. They are also typing. Great. So the point here is there is always a kind of connection which will happen inside our system. Okay? There is always a connection which will happen inside our system. But it is your responsibility as a designer to go and find it. Jagdish, how do I learn it? It's only by practice. Tools will help you. Statistics will guide you. Maybe this program can able to help you out. But it's ultimately your responsibility to drive that. Next year in our program we are launching a program called entrepreneurship. Okay. It is not for you guys. It is for the people who are looking about product ideas and building their business. Yes, some of our students can also come there. But ideally this is what I'll make them do. They have to find out lot of gaps in the problem in the system. Which is a solid gap, not the weak gap. Solid gap. You have to know this is exactly the gap. And then you have to build your idea on top of it. You have to use your design skills to build a product in no matter time. You'll be able to find this is the product gap in no matter time. Using the design tools, you'll be able to find out ideas and solutions in no matter time. You will be building the product prototype. In no matter time. You will be making a business idea. In no matter time. You will be selling it to the market. Are you guys understanding this is how we are also having a long term mission. Like we are going to build thousand startups in a very, very shorter span of time. We are going to do that. In fact we are building systems and everything for it. It will take a lot of time. But I'm just giving you the connection how potentially you can see there. It is not a randomness. You can take any data, any problem, anything and try to build the thread around it. The moment when you try to keep on doing it again and again and again, guys, you become a system thinker. You connect the patterns. You see the interconnectedness. Because whatever I told you, it is not just one problem. Waste management. It's not one problem. See how much Problems is there? How much causes are there? More than 20 to 30 causes are there inside that 20 causes. You saw another 1520 causes inside that, inside that. So when it has multiple causes that is called wicked problem. It is not a normal problem. It is called wicked problem. Can you give me some examples of wicked problem? Guys, can you just type out what are the wicked problems? You think Kiran is still typing statistics? Kiran, we are almost closing the session. Thank you anyway. Great. Okay fine. So can you think, can you tell about what is wicked problems? I will give you an example. Poverty, joblessness. Okay. Cash discrimination, waste management. Let's take again. Okay. People, digital literacy, cyber attacks. These are all doesn't have one reason. And if you take multiple reasons again that multiple reason will go back to even more multiple reason again. If you track back, it will lead to even thousand years of history. If you go back why people are not having awareness, Education policy is not there. Why education policy is bad because people are sitting in the Education policy doesn't have the awareness why people are being put there. It's because of the wrong political system. Why people are put in the wrong political system. Because people are not aware of who is there in the right position. Why people are not people are aware. If you track back like this guys, it will go back to 100 years, thousand years. It will go back to even evolution. But our responsibility is to not do this kind of a research and sit and think. Our responsibility to stop somewhere and find out the meaningful gap and start solving the solution for the market. This is what industries are also doing. This is what startups medium scale is predominantly doing. Majorly corporate is already doing because they've already found out the gap. They're going and serving it again and again and again. And you guys are going and working in an industry to solve a very very small problem in that big solution. But ideally think about if you can able to bring out a great pattern. If you guys can bring out a great clarity in your problems area and then if you are building a project around it, what happens? You will become stunningly good. Okay?
