Day 32- Overcoming Interview Rejections & Staying Motivated - 100 Days 100 Skill Booster Sessions

Jagadeesh P shares strategies for handling interview rejections and staying motivated during job searches. The session covers mindset shifts, seeking feedback from rejections, and mindfulness practices to build resilience while pursuing design and tech roles.
Through.
Tell me yes, tell me no. Yes. Welcome to the skill booster session guys. It's day 32 and like let's say because of the skills, what I have observed with the students is now they're getting more hands on into their activities. Okay, so soon after this November 3rd also what we'll be doing is a live demonstration of certain skills. So you will be also doing it live with me so that the kind of practice what you are going to get is extremely important.
Okay?
It's not about listening, it's about you doing it.
Okay, fine.
So that is the whole objective of this. And also do invite others people can join this session. It's not, it's not like not available and all it's available in the public and 30 minutes is the duration which we have planned. Automatically the call will end at 30 minutes guys. Okay, because what happens is the stream has this settings in building. No, one second, one second, one second, one second. Yeah, so just a second. Great, fine guys. So today what happened is while going through the students questionnaire so there was no skill which was mentioned by a student. It was a kind of fear what students have mentioned like they have attend. They have been attending a lot of interviews and the point what people were actually trying to say is they're getting lot of rejections in the interviews. They are feeling very bad. So I don't know like how to teach this as a skill but I feel like I've addressed this, I have to address this topic because while you're going through this job search process it is quite common to have that. It is very normal to have that kind of obsession or a feeling or anything. That is the reason I'm exactly taking you this particular part. Okay, just a second. Yeah. So can you see my screen? Can you see my screen guys? Confirm me. Yes, yes we can. Fine. Furnish. Your voice is not audible or somebody who is. Whoever is answering my screen is visible. Right? Okay, fine. So in the day 32, overcoming interview rejections and staying motivated. So this has been a tremendous problem. Like let's say I don't know whether Muthu or somebody has asked this question. So let me first understand this.
Okay?
See I don't know like how to treat it like a skill but it is very important to understand that it is actually a great process what you're doing for a long, long term success.
Okay.
It's not a short term give. Please understand that. And also you have to provide something like a resilience and growth mindset. What do you mean by resilience is. You will have to be absorbing lot of what you call lot of beatings, lot of pain points, lot of struggles. You will have to be resilient towards understanding that because it is all worth it. Whatever you're going to have now, whatever you're going to have in the. In the. In the job with a good salary, with a good work life balance, with a very good design studio culture, it is all the efforts of what you're putting now. So if you wanted that to be really great, please you have to really take it a lot of resilience now. You have to understand that rejections is a part of the process. Mistakes is a part of the process. You will have to understand then and only you can go for a quality organization, okay? In fact, the quality, the. The key qualities of the employees, what they seek will come over the time. It is not like readily available. If it is already readily available, you would have got hired with someone already.
Okay?
So how many of you feel this is Bulborn? If you already have that skill, you would have been already inside the industry, no? Why are you still wandering for job? It's exactly the ulta the other way around, okay? And particularly people who are in the industry focused to healthcare technology. They are the high demand industries are also e commerce, fintech. These extras are also getting more value. And adaptability is also equally high. So why this is very important to learn this. See, first of all, you have to build resistance. You have to transform. You have to build the mindset. That is why Stranger Secret is very important. If you listen to Stranger Secret twice in a day, it will rewire your internal programming. Because certain things I can't do it. You will have to understand your rewiring happens. And once your mindset starts working in abundance, not in a scarcity mindset in abundance, you will even if 100 people reject you, you will not feel like rejection at all. Because you have that potential. And you know that you will one or the other way crack the job. You will not wait or get easily swayed by some random people who are saying well, you have. You have no experience so we can't hire you. You say okay, fine, thank you. First of all, your company also doesn't have so much of experience being a fresher. I am taking a risk inside your company. So it's better that we don't go forward. It's better that you rejected. Thank you so much Mr. HR. You should literally blow them in their mind. You should literally go and tell them then and only your growth mindset is Truly shown if you are getting negative meaning or maybe if you are getting into a negative mode. Oh, nobody is hiring me. Am I really self sufficient? I don't have portfolio. My portfolio is not perfect. My communication is not good. Yeah, I deserve this. Yeah. A lot of people ask me experience. Yeah, a lot of people tell me I'm only fit for 3.25 lpa. All this negative self stocks will pull your energy away. Very very important.
Okay.
It is very common. Don't think that you are the only person in the world who is going through. I've seen people who are searching for job for three to four years also. But the point is once they come into the process in two, three months they will start getting some transformation. But you will have to follow the process also. It's not like you're coming into the process process. You will have to work meticulously to start getting results out of it. Then and only it will make sense. Or else there is no point in again following the process inconsistently. Okay, this is very very important. Building resistance, resilience, growth, mindset. Enhance your self confidence. Industry relevance. Yeah, see your confidence will be automatically increased. Don't worry about that part. You will be always relevant to the industry because you're already filling the codex. You're targeting the right industries. Don't worry about these two parts. Worry about transforming your mindset and building your resilience. In fact, if you worry about only this, I would say this as the first point. B C D will be taken care. Very very very important. Okay, first of all, this shifts the view of your rejection from failure to learning. You will understand what has gone wrong. You will write it down. What is the interview? Failures, what you've gone. See, my mentor used to always say whenever some kind of a bad incident happened or a rejection happened or maybe if you're thrown out of a company you will have to write down what are the things which I missed. Second, you will have to ask the person who has did that to you. Yeah, tell them thank you so much but I needed your feedback. Can you just write it down for me? Can you just tell me why you have rejected me? See, the art of asking this question will neutralize your mindset. It will neutralize your what you call the. Will have some kind of a hatred, disappointment or maybe sometimes your desperation is very high. So these things will get neutralized. See every time when we have some negativity or angrier or something frustration our body chemical levels goes ups and downs. That is why we, we. We exert that Frustration. The the why we are getting frustrated, why we are getting so angry, why our blood pressure level goes up and high because of this negativity. Lot of chemical change happens. How do you balance this chemical level? This is what my mentor taught me. He said go and approach that situation and ask them what is the reason you have been rejected? What is the reason you have not been hired? What are the reason you are they are not liking your portfolio? What are the reason? In spite of you answering them all questions why didn't they select ask this question and get the answers? Or ask this question to your mentors or accountability who is guiding you? The moment when you get this answer you will see all the chemical levels coming down. Because you know you are ultimately responsible for that failure. The moment when you realize it, your mindset will become calm automatically. You will focus on improving. That simple. There is nothing called frustration disappointment. That that was. That is not going to come at all. If you apply this right method. It it is applied for everything. Even if it's relationships, even if it's in career, even if it's in creativity design, everywhere it is applicable.
Okay.
But you will have to be little calm to understand that.
Yeah.
You'll have to be bounced back from the setbacks. Maintaining focus on the goals automatically you will be. There is no doubt about it.
Okay.
And it refines your interview approach. It improves your further presentation and also mostly whatever is your targeted industry. Healthcare or. Or maybe it's a. It's a fintech industry or anything. You will be definitely having that persistence to improve. So I want everybody to type out of the chat what are the targeted industry which you guys are working on? Could you please type in the chat what are the targeted industry? Guys, please switch on your camera. Faisal Muthu, I want everybody to type out what is the targeted industry you are having according to your Codex document. What it is coming. That's great. Shavi fitness industry.
Okay.
Has 9 is saying technology is not type of industry. No, no no no no no. Fintech is a type of industry. See Manikandan is telling two type of industry. That's good. Maybe one maybe for some people two industries will come totally fine. Technology based industries, startups, accelerated growth companies or maybe medium scale industries are different categories of industries. Inside that category six industries will come. Please understand that. Don't get confused.
Okay.
Yes. See Edutech Fintech right? This is what I ask you.
Okay.
So can you write it hasnain one more time Remaining. What about the remaining people? Please type out in the chat people who are watching in the YouTube? Could you type out of the chat what is your targeted industry? What's your targeted industry? Okay, let me put for our friends also. Guys, no problem. Just wait just a second. Guys, just a second. One minute. Just a minute. Yeah. So what happens is when you choose the right industry, say technology. No, not technology based has. Technology is not the correct thing.
Okay.
Anyway, think about it. What about others punish? I think everybody typed out. Okay, great. So you will have to be first choosing the right industry which is relevant for you. And that is not a problem. You guys can easily do it. There is no issues in that. Okay, so what are the common mistakes to avoid? See, take. First of all people take rejections personally. See, they are rejecting your skills, not you. Please don't get personal attack for that. There is no. It is your mistake if you are taking it too personal.
Okay?
Not seeking feedback. I already covered this. You will have to ask for the feedback. If somebody is not telling you the feedback, ask them one more time. Ask the person who can able to tell you better. If they are not still answering you come to your mentor, come to your accountability partner or come to whoever is guiding you properly. They will tell you what went wrong.
Okay?
That is why I ask students, when you are attending interview, please record that call and share it with me. Because if I audit and understand that then I will know what you have answered, what HR has asked or what design recruiters has asked. What email do you typed? What email they have replied? So we can able to understand what communication mistakes is happening.
Okay?
Losing motivation, very low efforts in future attempts. This is a major, major problem. Guys. I've seen this with a lot of people. First initially one or two jobs, they'll be like super happy. After that you'll come down. No, it will be like that. Life will always be unfair. Don't think that. Life will be very fair with you and everything. Every time you will be getting only positive reply. Positive reply, positive reply. No. Life is always unfair. You have to make it as a practice. You have to adjust it with acceptability. That's it. And you will have to fight every single day, every single opportunity to go ahead. Life will never be fair. It will always be unfair.
Okay?
People will treat you unfair. People will not give you right advantage and right opportunities and all. It's your responsibility to keep fighting and get it very simple.
Okay?
If you have not learned it, learn it now.
Okay?
Step to master this. Please change your mindset. View rejection as a growth. I would say listen to stranger secret. Can you Help me paste the link of Stranger Secret in the chat box. So that people can able to watch it. Thank you so much. Yeah. Strangers listen to Stranger Secret twice. It is actually called Inner engineering. My mentor used to call Inner engineering your inner engineering. If it is not changing, you cannot really grow as a person. See, I will tell you one very important thing. Lot of people don't understand this point. It is not the 12 LP or a 15 LPA job. What you get, it is the person you become. If you have not become the person to receive that design job or salary or anything, you will again go back. I'll repeat you.
Okay?
It is not the 12 LP or 15 LPA salary what you get. It is the person you become in order to get that salary. If you become that person, first of all, whether you have job or not, you will any which ways get 15 LPA per month. People will love to have you in their organization. They'll come and grab and give you job. But if you have not become that person and then by somehow you are getting 10 LPA job. Oh, you're getting. I will tell you what will happen in next two months. You will be thrown out of the job. Or you will itself tell that this company is not really suitable. I'm feeling incompetent. I'm feeling imposter. And you will save or something. And then you will come out. You will again come to your ground zero or whatever is your level. Like. Let's say if you are. If you are. If you have really become a person with only 30 to 40 percentage of your mindset grown and your salary expectation, your value expectation, your value add to the design industry is only of 20 to 30,000. That is your level. You will automatically come to that level. You will not go below this. I'll tell you why. Because you have already grown to this level. Once you have grown to this level, you cannot go back. Let's say if you're getting 20,000 in. Let's say if you're getting 80,000 in an industry. Imagine. Just listen very carefully.
Okay.
You're getting 80,000 in the industry. You're getting for the last two years. Or maybe one year, six months, something.
Okay?
Immediately. If somebody is asking to join you for the 20,000, will you go type out in the chat? Yes. No. I want everybody to type out this answer. Please listen to me very carefully, guys.
Okay?
Will you go for that job? They are offering you only 20k. Will you go?
Okay.
Only one person is typing. What about the others? What about Surendra? What about Mutu Money. Yeah. No, right. Okay, let's say if that 80,000 job, what you're getting, they're laying off you. They're telling we don't want you. You are in the big frustration now.
Okay?
You are in the big frustration now. Immediately you're going and searching for a job. You're getting this 20k, 30k, 40k.
Will you accept?
No, you will not accept because your mindset growth, your value has already grown to 80,000 at least. If you get 80,000 or 70,000 you will say okay. Have you, have you observed this pattern? I have observed with lots of students. I've observed personally with lot of students and as well as me. Because we have actually been fixed with one value for money, for skill set, for work, life, balance and everything.
Okay.
10% we can go below 10%, we can go above. If you go 10% above, you will not accept that. Let's say if somebody is giving you 50 LPA, they are emailing you, okay. What you will think, oh, is this a scam or what? No, no, no. I don't believe this. You will not believe this. Okay, if somebody is giving you 10, like let's say very very low salary, 5,000 per month, 10,000 per month, you will not accept that. It's all a mind game. It's not a skill game. That is why I tell you 80% age is mindset. You will have to improve your mindset, grow yourself as a person. Skills can be learned over time. It's not a big deal. Every skill is there on top of it. We are teaching you 100 skills and you have courses, you have materials, you have on top of it online to learn all the skills. But people are not having clarity to teach mindset because they themselves don't have that very people have. Very few people have and they are busy implementing that to their life and getting results. Okay? So please think about it. So mindset is very important. It's all about mind game. If you have not become and grown to that level of person, you will immediately come back. So what is your net worth? What is your net value? What is your real potential? You tell me. Now don't type in the chat but type inside your mind. First of all think inside your brain how much salary you're really worth of like let's say Jagdish, I feel like I'm worth of 6lpa then that means 6.5 to 7lpa you will accept or 5.5to 5.5.5lpa you will accept. If your mindset Is telling I am worth for 12lpa. You will get in a scrambling behavior if you get low. Like let's say if Muthu is telling I want 12 LP.
Okay.
If somebody is offering him 8 LPA, he has given the offer. Let's say. Let's say okay. He will feel very scrambling behavior. Like let's say no, I'm not really capable. I'm not really fitting in this role. I'm really worth of more. No, no, no, no. No one or the other way. Next two, three days he will find the offer of 12 LP.
Okay?
I'll tell you another use case. Let's say you're already getting 12 LP again. You're getting losing the job again. Somebody has thrown you out of the industry or something happened. What happens is immediately you will. You will do night and day effort. You will find people who can able to refer you. Who will find opportunities where it's available. You will use the strategies in the LinkedIn or whatever. You will find the people who can guide you, support you, mentor you. In next two, three days you will find a job of 12 LPA minimum. I'm telling you 100% it will happen previously you may be thinking oh, for reaching 12lpi it will take one year. No, three days is enough for people to get that same level. Because their mindset is like that. They are. They are thinking that I am capable of this much. Anything below this is not acceptable for me.
Okay.
Anything about this is also skeptical for you. Again, another big use case. If you are improving your mindset and then you are writing every single day goals and then you are visualizing a big picture of your career, of your design potential, of your salary value. You will automatically move towards that and you will know that you are improving. Even if somebody is getting rejecting you, you will not feel rejection at all. You will still feel competent. You will still feel I am really worth for this much. These people are just trying to. Yes, we become what we think. Correct. Shavi. Perfect. So it is exactly the inner engineering game. That's why change of secret is very important. Listen to that. Change of secret is very very powerful. That is why the name itself is changes Secret. Nobody ever knows this secret. You're outside in the world. You guys are so lucky to be in this program. I'm telling you that because I have learned it from my mentor who has told me this simple. I'm listening three times, sometimes even four times. Okay, I'm listening in 3.5x speed. Leave it. But initially it took me little time 30 minutes, 40 minutes. It used to be there for one audio. But after that we'll have to increase the speed after 30 days. 1.25x 1.5x. Then you will be very comfortable to listen to that. Now I am listening in 3.5x. So Spotify offers you that speed. So listen to that. So that multiple times when you listen, your programming will slowly, slowly change. Because when you really truly become that person, to receive that kind of a salary and quality and work life balance and everything, automatically companies will come and find you automatically. You will get job offers automatically. You will get interview calls. You don't have to do any g Boomba magic under it. It will automatically come. But if you have not grown, even if you get job, you will again come back. One of my student, he got good salary. I said you have still not been completed. You are learning. Your skill is still missing. Your communication is still missing. Your attitude and behavior is still having some problem. Mr. So and so, please improve that or else it will have a problem. He doesn't listen to me because he was in the excitement of getting the job. Super job he got. Actually to be honest, he got very nice job.
Okay?
He was very happy, extremely happy. Again I was following this guy. Hey, no. Learn it. Don't feel very happy because you've still not reached that level. Because I'm mentoring him, I know him. Whether he has reached that level or not, Sustainable fare exchange job has not come to you. Mr. Please work on it. This guy used to tell Jagdish MBC in the job family commitment. I am not able to spend time this that after six months he lost the job. Now he's saying I'm coming back. So where is this time coming now? So please understand, if you're not doing it properly now, you will have lot of rejections later. So even if it takes little time now, please hold your breath, improve your skill and improve you as a person. Because that is the only fix for it. There is no shortcut. If you feel that there is some shortcut which is going to come and help you, that is not going to happen for sure.
Okay?
Are you guys getting it? Fine. So now go and mark your attendance. You are going to get 50 points for today, okay? Because it's a hackathon call. I mean, it's not an implementation call by the way, it's a skill booster call only. But I'm giving you extra points so that people are getting up early in the morning and they are coming out, okay? Yes. See guys, I'll tell You one thing in this particular day of age, rejection and all these things happening, right? You should be accepting this as a part of process. If you're not accepting that, then what happens is you will personally feel very bad about each and every rejections happening.
Okay?
Ask your feedback. Set a realistic goal. Sometimes your goals may be very unrealistic. Please be a, please, please be very clear on what you're writing as a goal. That's why values is important. Because when you have values, you will not write goals which is like, which is, which is totally unrealistic. You will come into the track.
Okay?
Practice self care. Engage in mindfulness technique. Reduce stress, boost clarity. See these are all the things which you can do. I'm not saying you do this vipassana meditation, you do this, that any meditation or any mindfulness practice is better than having nothing.
Okay?
So choose something and start doing it. Build a support network. Yeah. Ideally you are in this community so you should feel really happy for that, okay? And don't be part of 2030 communities. Don't get distracted in a day because of that reason, okay? Find one person or one system which you are really stuck. But networking you can have with hundreds of people. There is no problem in that personally, okay? People are like, oh, I'll be there in lot of WhatsApp group then and only I will learn design. Don't get super distracted by this kind of a thought process and all, okay? I've seen people like hundreds of groups they are in every single time they are getting distracted by the notification, messaging, replying.
No, don't do that. Okay?
This is the point here. Fifth, what are the mindfulness hacks which you can try, you can watch your breathing. Guys, I'll tell you, this is very, very important, okay? When you do this breathing, let's say there is something called anapana. I mean to my knowledge it was really good.
Okay?
10 to 30 minutes. It's a vipassana technique, okay? It's a meditation technique. A lot of people follow vipassana. A lot of people don't follow. It's totally up to you. Whatever method you follow, you do it.
Okay?
This is one such known method which I practiced for hours and hours and hours. This increases your focus and what you call determination towards sticking on to something until it is done. Lord Buddhaji has actually invented this method. It's very powerful. You can do visualization technique. Don't ask me because it takes a lot of time. I'll teach you some other day, okay? Affirmations. Actually we are going to Bring that into our habit practice also. Soon we are building a journal which is going to have your goals, gratitude, one idea per day, as well as affirmations. In fact, if you ask me, go to your personal codex. I've already given a question for you. Five affirmations for your life. Go and read that every single day. When you tell I am excellent in communication. I am excellent in communication. I am talking extremely good English, automatically you will see your English getting improved. You will feel someday. Not someday, immediately. Next two, three months, you will not feel like that as a problem at all. You will be extraordinarily talking to the people. And when you look back at your goals, note or affirmation, you will feel so surprising. Oh my God. I was extremely bad at this. And I've improved.
How?
What happened? Something magic happened. Yeah, it will truly feel like some magic. Only because affirmations is more powerful. I'll go deep into it some other day, but this is enough for now.
Okay?
Gratitude journaling. I've already told you there is no need to explain this. This is very, very important. You'll have to activate your prefrontal cortex inside your. Inside your. What you call your brain and nervous system. When you wanted to really activate it, your pre. Prefrontal cortex, you will have to open your gratitude center. If you have to open your gratitude center, you will have to think about the things which is really grateful for you every single day. There is no other shortcut for that.
Okay?
You cannot inject a chemical to do that. Please understand that this is very, very important. When you do this consistently. Guys, that's why I'm asking you to build a habit. Because habit is actually God. According to me, habit is the actual God habit and focus when you fix on to the right habit and when you focus on that habit every single day to master it. I'm telling you guys, your life will master like anything in next one year or two years. You will see the transformation what you have that will impact your generations. The kind of salary, the kind of impact, what you're going to create. It is truly, truly like national wide. You will go like a celebrity by the things what you decide and do it.
Okay?
People don't teach you this. People don't teach you in the schools or colleges because they itself don't know this.
Okay?
A lot of people think by learning physics, chemistry will be becoming super. Yeah, all of this physics and chemistry will become super only when you become a person to go and understand and take it forward.
Okay?
So that is why the soft skills Are very important. And yeah, I just told you some practical use cases also for you and what I planned activity. Nothing. Write down your past interview learning. This is main mainly I wanted to.
Do it for you.
Okay, I wanted you to now go to your learning management portal and I wanted you to write down in the comments. Don't write down what is your learnings. Write down what is your past learnings in the interview. How much interviews you got rejected. I wanted everybody to go and reflect on that.
Okay.
And if you want you can able to do this. Fine. Five minutes of mindfulness breath practice which will do it. I will also play one on up on a video. For now you can able to do it and try to practice it. Okay, let's do it. Wait for one second. So I'll give you some statistical information. Average of 10, 10 to 15 rejections is normal.
Okay.
Persistence is the key. Feedback seekers improve chances by 20 percentage. See, that's why feedback is important. Rejection impact similar to physical pain resilience improve rewire response strengthens positive pathways. This gratitude. Please try to understand that. Okay, so what are the tools? Calm app is one of the common drives. Everybody knows this. Okay, but do whatever that is totally up to you. I already told you that. Okay, so you can do this guided meditation. You can do this mindfulness rout. Headspace is a good app. They've suggested and gratitude journal app. For now you can able to have one application to track it. But soon. We are building a journaling guys. We are building a diary for Design for change students. We are building a diary and it will be given for the people who are young designers and people who are completing the courses LMS courses called Creative finishes.
Okay.
For those people, we are giving you that gift. Just wait for that. Okay, so people who are watching this video in the YouTube I would highly recommend you to go and subscribe my channel Spotify. And also number three, we have something called design verse extremely important. This is going to truly change your game. And people who are in our program, kindly go to your what you call partners and click the link and share it to your friends. Because the more friends you bring in, the more points you're going to get. A lot of people have gone to the top of our table because of that reason.
Okay.
It's not only for points, it's also to bring your friends who is genuinely needing support. Because design was. We have to. We will have only monthly once.
Okay?
Next November 28th it will happen. Okay, so the thing is number 28 or December30. 30 in December first week we'll have that. Okay, the point here is in design verse we will be doing a big workshop, three to six hours. In that workshop you will learn extremely a great skill. We'll do an activity live and a lot of surprising gifts are going to come for you. Special guest is coming and we are having a virtual party and special guest is going to come and mainly he's going to teach you a case study and end of the day you're going to get prices which is worth of 1 lakh collectively.
Okay?
And people are in the top five in the leaderboard. Top three in the leaderboard. They're going to get extremely surprised. And I'll tell you one thing, we have decided one more thing. In the top five, the fifth position is going to be the person whoever is very active on that design versus day because the game should be fair, right? You guys are playing since long time. So the person who is going to play on that day also we'll be watching their activities. We'll be giving three live quizzes and we'll be giving three live challenges also because every bit of the session will be challenge driven. If you're posting that only, we'll be giving you live points. And also what happens is we will pick one winner in them. So your friends could be also the winner. The new person also could be the winner in that particular day. Okay, so they'll be coming in the top five or top or whatever is their activities. So be extremely excited and happy for that. Forward this link to your other friends as well. Make sure you also bring them to that day. Okay, so now it's a time for action. So come on your camera guys. Come on your camera. I want everybody to come on the camera. Just a second. Great. Okay, just a second gallery. Great. So let's take a. Let's take. Okay, so now I want everybody to go to your learning management portal. Please reflect on the earlier failures. Maybe it's not only an interview failures, it is also your life failures. Or maybe something which you learned technically you wanted to reflect here or maybe some of the learning you wanted to reiterate. Now please kindly go and write it down. Don't feel bad about it. It's all there in our community, people only third. Only 40 to 45 people are going to watch this. Remaining 250 people in our community, they don't have the access in the internal learning management portal. Okay, they're going to, they're not going to watch it. But ultimately it is good that you're confronting now. Maybe your learnings could be for some other people's learning also.
