Day 82-Concept Development, Prioritization, and Matrix Tools-100 Days 100 Skill Booster Sessions

Jagdish P leads a workshop on design thinking tools for refining ideas. Learn morphological matrices and prioritization frameworks to evaluate and select concepts effectively in your projects.
This.
Tell me. I have an objective, okay? I have a goal. Why do you have to learn thousand skills? Because our brain gets sharper day by day, okay? And we will become much smarter in this vision industry.
Okay, fine.
If that is your highest value, if that is your one single goal to wanted to learn thousand skills and I would say it is good. But if it is not helping you to achieve your goal and then you are getting distracted, then it is not a big because I would not vote. See, I am also trying to disprove something after this 100 days.
Okay?
Maybe a lot of people. I am not going to reveal this now. I am going to reveal this after we complete the 100 days.
Okay?
There are multiple reasons why I am doing this. It is not just only to create some impact or to just teach free to the public. Or there are a lot of things which we are trying to disprove through this and is also one kind of a testing for us.
Okay?
My objective is different.
Okay?
Being a student, what I always request or recommend in this particular skill booster session is don't take everything. You get super confused. You get super confused. You get super. What you call, you go into a very big what you call confusion.
Okay?
Even in design institutes, I would say they are teaching you 40 to 48 skills. Any design typical institutes, if you take that much is also not required. It is becoming like one more college or school. Right?
See.
How many of you learned four year law of transformation in mathematics in your 11th standard. 12 standard. How many of you learned this? Mitochondria powerhouse of the cell type out of the chat box. Please come in the camera.
Okay.
I'm asking you an interesting question. Okay. I'm trying to disprove something. Let's understand how many of you learned this? Hi Chitra. Hi. Hi. Hi Kanda. Hi Karthik. Hi. Meghna Tripti. Sri Balaji. Switch on your camera. Powerhouse of this. How many of you have learned this? Moment of inertia? Are you guys applying anything today? One of my very, very close friend.
Okay.
He's working in liquid propulsion systems in Isro, Kerala.
Okay.
He's working in liquid propulsion. And one of my system is work. One of my senior, one year senior.
Okay.
He's working in Munich, Germany. BMW.
Okay.
One of my other friend, he's working in Rolls Royce.
Okay.
In Germany. One of my other friend. Some of the best. What you call the best industries. What I'm telling, even these people are not applying all these things.
Okay? Okay.
To be very honest because there is a huge gap in what people learn and when it comes to application. So this is a big myth, like I have to learn everything. So I'm not. I'm not blaming you, Ramraj. Don't mistake in that way. I'm trying to under. I'm trying to bring the perspective out here what is happening for the people when it comes to learning. They wanted to learn everything. They wanted to learn everything. It is okay.
But.
But make sure whatever you've written as a goal is meeting or not. If it is happening, then you do for 10,000 days also.
Okay?
Brian Tracy, in one of his books, he says very, very deeply one particular concept.
Okay?
If you wanted to master any one skill, you will have to spend 10,000 hours in crafting that. 10,000 hours. You want to become a neurosurgeon, you have to practice 10,000 hours. You can do it. That's it. If you want to. If you want to become a designer in a very specific area in design, spend 10,000 hours there. So this 30 minutes to one hour, it is. It is nothing.
Okay?
It is just a overview of what we are trying to help you. What we are. What we are. What we are giving. Giving to what you call what we are giving to students to get some kind of a small breakthrough. It's a very, very small breakthrough. You should get aware. Your awareness should be higher.
Okay?
Your awareness should be higher.
Here.
One second, guys. But your real skill starts from here. So you pick one area, right? Ramraj. Ramraj and other people. I'm just asking, can you type out in the chat box, guys, which one area you want to pick in the. In the design which you want to do for the rest of the life? Don't tell UIUX design. Can you all type out in the chat box? Will that be. Will that be good? Come on. Let me see. What is the one thing you wanted to work for the rest of your life? Solve problems quickly. That is good. So that's the skill which you want to develop. Ramraj, Great. Thinking out of box. I don't know what is this box? Okay, fine. I don't know who's. There are some people who are putting out all these words in the online.
Okay.
And every student who. Who calls me or ask me for a support in product design, they tell me, teach me this. Card sorting jagdish. Teach me this. Good. How to think out of box.
Okay, fine. Okay.
I want more answers, guys. Lot of people are there in this call. I wanted to ask you guys because having the skill booster session, I'll tell you the Objective also in the later, after we complete 100 days. I want to do miniature. I want to do miniature. I'm not able to connect with you. Kanda. Miniature means is that a skill or. I mean I'm asking what are the one skill you want to do for the rest of your life? IEA information architecture.
Okay.
Okay, that's interesting. People want to do information architecture for rest of the life. 10,000 hours. Interesting.
Okay.
You become super expert in this. Nobody in the world can do better information architecture than you. Right? Yeah. That's what is. That's what is actually called the true realization.
Okay.
When you go very deep into it. User centric designs. That is little generic, but it's okay. User centric designs. Good. That's also a great area. AI. AI is a very generic. Ram Raj.
Okay.
AI for solving healthcare problems. You can take like that. AI for doing design thinking formula that you can tell.
Okay.
That would be better. I already told you. A general doctor gets 100 rupees as a fees. Or maybe 300 rupees as a fees. A neurosurgeon charges 10 times more than him. You want to become a neurosurgeon or you want to become a general doctor? Specific is terrific. Okay, so be clear on that. Identifying the Personas, their journey. Mapping Sumana. Fine. Okay, good. Empathy and creativity. Empathy and creativity. Okay, good. Prototyping. Oh, miniature in the sense prototyping your meaning.
Okay.
You want to be a prototyper. Create Kanda.
Superb.
Okay, so nobody's telling a skill called. I want to be a design leader. I want to help build teams. I want to help build process. I want to help build systems. When you elevate your thinking like this then automatically your value will increase. Your salary will increase. Okay, Think about it. I'm not asking you to force fit it but. But give it a thought.
Okay.
Like these small, small skills. What you said is execution level.
Okay.
So always think for a leadership level. That is why I told you in three years you can able to elevate to a leadership level where you can have a crazy salaries and crazy impact on your organization.
Okay.
Skills are the basics. It's like a pillars.
Okay.
But skills is not everything you can learn on the go. For me, if you give me a student for just 10 to 14 days. Not. Not even 14 days. I would say 10 days. One week to 10 days. I will help him learn the complete design process very easily. If they watch Power of one and all the bonuses, it's done. I mean there is nothing beyond this. How many of you agree to this? How many of you agree to this? But if I have to really teach him a mindset, a goal, a clarity towards its career, a mindset towards solving a problem, it takes hell a lot of time for me provided that person should have a receiving mindset, open mindset to adopt that particular learning. And it takes hell a lot of time. And what I've seen with the students is people who are excellent in their mindset have having a very clear goal and value determined. They are getting tremendous results in very, very short span of time. Jagdish is not much needed for these people. Nobody is needed for these people. They will do it with or without anybody.
Okay?
People who don't have this clarity even though they have hundred skills, 100 skills. You have. You watched all the 100 YouTube videos. Still your. Your pace of getting results be little slower in the sense it is dependent on your mindset and the goals and the values what you have as a clarity. How many of you understood what I said now? Don't have just like that. You truly internalize whatever I said. Did you understand what I said now? 80% mindset, 20% skill set. Always remember this. There is a guy called Pareto, okay? He's got a Pareto principle. So everything in this universe, I don't know whether you guys know about this guy, okay? He was the one who invented this Pareto principle, okay? So he always has a theory. Everything in the world, okay, happens like the 80% of the reason, whatever is happening, it's because of the 20% costs. You understand, right? Have you seen 80% people will get low salaries in design. 20% people will get huge salaries in that 20%. Also 80% will get the lowest salary. Again, that creamy 20% will get super salaries. Like let's say 25, 30 LPA, 40 LPA, 50 LPA. In that 20% again, if you go very, very deeply, okay, which is like 4%. Okay to 100% is a 20%. 20% again. 8, 20% again in the 20%. So you get 4%. So these people get super crazy salaries. 1 crore, 2 crore. There was one guy, okay, you guys should know about this. Okay, let me tell it. So we had a. We had a reel in the Instagram last week. Last week or 10 days before, okay? So we said it's 50 lakhs is possible to reach in design.
Okay?
So one guy started commenting. It's a fake advertisement. Jagdish, please stop. This is fake. This guy is fake. Don't join any of this webinar so my performance team, performance marketing team, they said one guy is commenting.
It's fake.
I told maybe this guy would have spent some 70, 80,000 in some institute and maybe he was. He is repeatedly getting this 10k 5k jobs and all.
So.
Okay fine. I really feel bad for this guy. The reason being it's their frustration. We can't do anything. I've seen guys who is getting 5 crore per annum in design. I've seen people who are getting 12 crore per annum in design. How many of you are getting shocked? Totally little seniors. Not. Not I would say junior level designers, little seniors. How many of you are getting mind blown right now? MB Type out in the chat box. MB. I know a guy who is getting 96 LPA in Google. Sorry, sorry. He's getting more than 1 crore per annum in Google. He has a 96 patents in Google pay application. How many of you are using this GPA application? What is that? Okay, I don't have GPA. But you have GPA, right? Everybody has GPA, right? Here's a 96 patents. What is there in that application? You will see so much of innovation this guy has. Did see I told you, right? When you add a value and solve big big problems and look at this. Now everybody can able to make the transaction even the age old youngsters, right? So that is a simplicity what these people have brought. And it's one of the what you call heartbeat of India. Like that it has become every small vendor Panipuri shop guy has it. Okay, think about it. When you solve a problem, you get money and you get paid for that.
Okay?
When you get frustrated you also type something like when you see somebody online teaching UI UX product design. Fake UI UX doesn't have this kind of a salaries. It's fine guys. Every field has ups and downs.
Okay?
Every field has good and fake people. It's. It's totally fine. That's how the universe is. So it's all balanced. No. Nothing works in extreme positives or extreme negatives. It's always a balance.
Okay.
So think about it. Whatever I told you, the mindset and skill set. Because when you don't have that mindset and then you keep on learning for thousand days, 10,000 days, it's not going to meet the end.
Okay.
So go back to your valid determination sheet. A lot of people are recently typing out the value determination sheet to me and then sending the emails. It is really good to see the people. But focus on those top three values and don't get distracted. Particularly if you find the values, you will not get distraction, guys. You'll find so much focus coming into your career. And when you highly fulfill your top three values in your life for the full single day, you don't feel burned out, you don't feel exhausted. You feel more energetic every single day. Why I'm doing this? This is my top highest value. If your day is not filled with high priority values, it will be automatically filled with low priority distractions. I'll repeat this. Demartini always says this. If your day is not filled with high priority values, your day will be filled with low priority distractions automatically. You don't have to do consciously anything. People will pull you in 100 directions. So in your home they'll tell you go this place, go that place. This problem is there electricity problem. This problem, that problem. To today, WI fi not working. That day will go, weeks will go, months will go, nothing will move. Got it? When you drift and analyze and realize this particular point, from that day you will know what skill to learn.
Okay?
See, mainly what I told my students is this. 100 days, keep it like an alarm for you. Come and just listen.
Okay?
Learn. That's good. But when it comes to applying it consciously, I would say you have to take it correctly or else it will too much gets confused for you. It's like writing the 12th standard exam, 10 standard exam. Oh, I have to write all the exams. I have to memorize all these points, right? We don't even remember what we did in the 12th standard, 11 standard. So have this clarity, guys.
Okay?
I wanted you guys to unlearn these things before we go forward. We have something interesting coming on the January month. But. But this is not only dependent on my decision, okay? For my mission, I did this.
Okay?
But after this January, this hashtag thing is coming. I don't know how we are going to work for this. And how many of you are really getting excited? Today you saw something in our learning management portal. How many of you are feeling super excited? Did you guys try that? Okay, let me, let me break that suspense for you, okay? Each and every day, guys, my values and my goals are getting realized. Okay? That's why I feel so happy. Okay, I'll show you a small demo. Okay, listen to me, guys.
Okay?
How many of you have watched the learning management portal? No, you're not watched.
Okay?
Let me show you. Okay, but this is in the testing phase, okay? When you go to your learning management portal, in the feed section, there is something called podcast magic.
Okay?
We're just testing it Out. It's. It's not a. It's not even 5%.
Okay.
It's still interesting when you, when you go and click this guy, okay? The poster Jack, intelligent clone. He's a clone of me.
Okay?
He will look like a jack. Wait, we are building that bot. That bot has not yet come live now, okay? And it's damn, damn expensive. We are actually trying with the, with the, with the initial small lot of testing.
Okay.
Can you guys hear the sound? One second. Okay, Sound.
Okay.
Have you seen Amazon website? Have you seen Amazon prime website? Have you seen Amazon music? Have you seen Amazon podcast? It all looks very similar with respect to the ui, with respect to the call to action, with respect to all the search bar, login screen, checkout page, everything. How it is done. It is done only because of design system. If so, this is all our podcast. The beauty about this is not podcast podcast is already there in Apple and Spotify. You can listen the moment when you go and search inside. Like let's say you search your keyword.
Okay?
Design system. Click enter. You will automatically see which podcast are reflecting this particular design system and where it is exactly coming.
And.
And you can able to get the customized learning out of it.
Okay?
And right now this small screen is actually in the testing phase. We are going to build an entire web where you guys are going to put your search keywords like let's say design system. So this particular AI chatbot will completely scrap through my entire podcast of 300 episodes. And also, you guys might not know we completed a 42 day journey batch in the last two times we completed it. Totally 200 hours of content is available for you guys, but it is not available in the outside public. We can't give that.
Okay.
And this is, this particular tool will go and scrape through all the videos. If let's say Ramraj is asking how to do design system step by step.
Okay.
Right now it won't come because we have not tuned that engine. See, no results are found. That means a chatbot like me.
Okay?
We are creating that clone also. He will stand here and then it will exactly come like this design system can be done in this, this, this, this is what Jagdish said. One, two, three. This is not a ChatGPT answer. Okay, ChatGPT, you can get it. No, any which ways. This is Jagdish way of answering how to build a design system step by step.
Okay?
And then it will give you a reference in podcast 297. In the fifth minute he talks about it in the in the video of this particular section, Jagdish talks about it in one click you can able to go there and watch it. All of your questions, okay? All of your questions. Whatever is coming in your mind. Like let's say today you're going for interview.
Okay?
Design task. Click here. See Design task. Design task. Actually we have not still synchronized all of our. Can you see here? When you do research. I'm just saying design task or something like this, right? So anywhere. If you guys go and find it out, like let's say in one minute. Magic. In one minute I'm going to tell you how to get callback from the recruiters. This is a one minute podcast. I recorded, guys. Meanwhile, okay, how you can get callback from the recruiters, okay, so you can see the design task word is coming here. That means what they are hiring for a. Exactly. So our entire content so far is close to 500 hours. Guys, how many of you are Getting mind blown? 500 hours we taught for the last with all the batches students content, podcast, YouTube, everything is there.
Okay.
We are creating a one shot search engine whose name is Jack. Okay, we can just go and answer question. Ask your questions. If you're going for interview. If you wanted to know how to attend a design interview. If you. If you want to know how to attend a design task or if you. If you don't know how to ask questions to the hr. If you don't know how to do design task, ux, research, information, architecture, anything. You just have to type the keyword automatically. You're going to get the answers and in just five minutes you're going to get a very precise, clear answer. Good, Great. Type out in the chat. How do you feel? This is my dream, actually. This is my dream. It's coming reality wait for some time. And it comes with a huge cost. Guys, we won't be able to give this for all the students. Extremely sorry. Because for each search we have to pay a lot of money for this. It's not a joke. We have to integrate the API to our website as well as we have to build a separate page, landing page and then we have to add this content. And we are still working on it. We are talking to this chatbot builders for giving us a very customized bot for this.
Okay.
Because for me the learning journey should become easy for the students. It's not an olden days where you read the hundred books, you write the exam, you get result. Precisely. Our students has to get what this program is trying to say.
Okay?
And that doesn't mean your learning path is shortcut. Guys, I'm not saying that particular point.
Okay?
Your learning is always a learning. But this is to get a quick answers at that particular moment what you wanted to have. Instead of just going and searching here and there. You get time based. You get a lot of things are happening. And yesterday also yesterday two students attended interview in our program. So they said jagdish, I'm having this. This is my 21 days lecturer.
Okay.
Again Ramraj, don't get overwhelmed. 500 hours is okay.
Okay.
But you should not learn everything. You'll get mad. So this guy is actually attending one design task. He just sent me a screenshot. Okay, two students have sent me screenshot. So I said this design task doesn't reflect that it is a design job. It looks like it's a very labor job. Please go and ask what is the role, what you're going to do? Please go and ask what are the salary, what you're going to get. Please go and ask what is the company project which you're going to work?
Okay.
I did it manually in the phone call with that student. Because in job special I used to give for all the students in a personalized phone call because they'll be attending interview and all these things, right? I can't do this for all the people. But now it is all going to get automated. Because if I have to go and work with 1 million designers across the globe, if I'm not building systems like this, I will be in a big problem.
Okay.
I did the value determination process guys last 3 months before every quarter you need to do valid determination. It's not like in one time life you do. No. Your value keeps changing over the three to four months.
Okay.
In my last value determination sheet, the highest value which I got is automation.
Okay?
Because as a coach or a mentor or whatever that is, that is fine. As a, as a guy who has a mission to help this my first highest value is automation. Okay? Systems building systems building automation.
Okay?
Because we have enough skills and content and everything. For me the biggest mission is actually to now biggest value right now is. Is to build automation system. So the moment when I write this as the highest value, my goal starts changing. My. My focus starts changing. So every single day I'm. I'm interacting with performance marketers, with. With chatbot owners, with content creators and learning management guys to bring so much of simplicities to our learning, our students where we are building systemized and customized learning process for each and every candidate who is Coming inside how Jagdish can able to personalizely help them. That comes with a huge cost as well.
Okay.
Because these are all the tools which is available, which we have to customize it. It's not like you, you open an application, you use it. It doesn't work that way. Everything needs a customization.
Okay.
And then we have to integrate it in our learning management portal. And we are not going to give this away. Like it's all there in our learning management portal. So you guys can able to access and try to take an advantage out of it. Okay, so for, for that yesterday we had a three hours meeting for building this, all this, all these things.
Okay.
It's still happening and a lot of work is still there. So if you're not fulfilling your day with a high priority values, whatever is there, your day will be filled with low priority distraction. Even though in that yesterday two to three hours I had some other work.
Okay.
I mean I can't control. It's a family priority. We have to go. Yeah, that's fine. That is the main important. The point, what I'm trying to say is whatever is your highest value coming in your value determination sheet, focus on that, fulfill that automatically. You will feel so energetic, so happy, so fulfilling. And after that, when you focus on a skill, learning will be extremely higher. There is nobody who can beat you in that particular skill because you've exactly found. This is a skill I want, okay? I want the skill of automation. Right now I'm learning a lot of softwares like Zapier Pably. All the softwares are automation softwares.
Okay.
How we can able to integrate it in our learning management portal there is something called chat GPT4 which we are building called customized GPT. So you guys know about a resume calculator, right? I think a lot of people would have tried this. Okay, Maybe you guys can try this. People who are brand new can try this one.
Okay.
We have something called a resume calculator. I mean it's also a very, very small work. But right now the mother bot is coming, the main bot.
Okay.
We're building that because in one bot you guys will get all clarity with respect to design portfolio, resume, everything. Okay, so same like that. The reason why I'm telling my example is for you guys, the top three values is there. Like let's say fitness may be your top three value or maybe design skill may be a top three value or financial freedom is your top one value. Okay, definitely in the top three values your financial freedom should come. If it's not coming. You have not written the value determination properly.
Okay.
Maybe you'll have to rewrite it. It's okay, fine. But. But that's very important guys. Because if you don't have a value for the financial, you will not get a big money. You'll get only small money. Because you're not focusing on the highest value, right? I mean again, design is not the only way to earn money. There are multiple passive way of. You can. You can streamline your income as well. Okay, think about it slowly. You will get many ideas and methods and people to come and help you for that.
Okay? Okay.
The 30 minutes went in just explaining you guys this particular concept. Okay, fine. Let's get back to the session. I believe this is needed because sometimes unlearning is more important than learning. Because we miss out the flow.
Okay.
Can we start the day 82 type out? Yes. I'm sorry if I've gone off track. Excellent. Excellent. But I believe this is also needed when we go along. Okay, great. Okay. So the point, the skill, why I'm teaching is particularly is a lot of people have different, different ideas. With respect to yesterday, you guys wrote a lot of ideas, right? But when you are in a design team, when you are in. When you are a student who is working on a project, you will have a big time problem in choosing which is the best concept. And you can't choose impulsively.
Hey.
Ramraj said. Hey, this good. This answer is good. Let me take this.
Hey.
Tripti said this answer is good. I like Tripti. I'll take her idea. I like Chitra. I'll take her idea. I don't like Ramraj. I'll leave her idea. It's not a personal game.
Okay?
You will. You will see all of these problems inside your design studios. There'll be one, one particular person who will only like that particular person's idea.
Okay?
Like a favoritism, it will happen. So there is a method and a process to choose which idea is better. Irrespective of whether it's coming from a fresher or maybe an experienced guy or a guy who is having so much of iq. Or maybe he's a dumb guy. So far we call it as like that, right? There is nothing called dumb idea, intelligent idea. Everything is an idea. So we need to respect that in order to respect that and take it. We have a method and a system to do it properly. That is a skill which you are going to learn today.
Okay?
So first of all there is something called prioritization.
Okay.
The Main objective is to help you build a framework for bringing your concepts into an actionable steps. Like let's say which is the best idea how we can able to do. We are going to see something called pugmatics.
Okay.
This is actually an engineering terminology. I've learned it in my mechanical engineering but I brought it here. You guys can learn it.
Okay.
Morphological matrix. Yesterday we saw morphological mapping, right? Today we'll see matrix. Don't worry. You will have a decision making. Guys. See many people are doing the project, right? Currently you guys are doing this two days project and three days project, right? In the in the in the gap market you guys will have lot of ideas. But you guys will not know how to select the ideas which is best, which has a maximum potential. Hey Jagdish, this also seems like a great idea here. Option B also seems like a great idea. How do I do? This is exactly the skill what you're going to learn.
Okay.
Can somebody put lot of your ideas, whatever you have in your recent project. This Sharath team and Ramraj team and other Kandas team, Mekna's team. Okay guys and please switch on your camera. Okay.
Okay.
I request you to switch on your camera. If you're here, please be here fully or else go back to sleep. Maybe watch it later.
Okay?
Totally fine. If you can able to give me some. Some list of ideas like let's say a bunch of ideas. I'll be showing it live with you as well.
Okay?
Yeah. Meanwhile I'll start the session. First of all let's understand what is this? Refining and prioritizing the concept. Transitioning from idea into actionable refinement. That is the major objective of it.
Okay.
So what happens is when you're developing this kind of an ideas, so what you will have like let's say you will have 100 ideas listed in front of you. Like let's say Ramraj and Tripti and chitra is in one team.
Okay.
So Ramraj will come up with five ideas. Chitra will come up with one idea. Tripti will come up with 1720 ideas. So what you have to do is you have to put everything together in a sheet of paper, try to cluster it. People call it as a card sorting. Whatever sorting you call you call it. Guys, no problem. The thing is you have to look for the similarity in those ideas. Okay? These ideas are all looking towards system design. These ideas are all looking towards incremental design. A small, small change.
Okay.
These ideas are all looking towards web UI change. Try to cluster it in any particular Any particular framework which you think, okay, you can just segregate the ideas. Like let's say, I'll give you an example. Smart city, urban mobility. Look at this. When you, when you design some kind of a solution, if it falls under smart city, okay, These ideas are all looking like a smart city. Ideas. Oh, in that smart city it looks like a urban mobility. In that urban mobility, it looks like a traffic light problem. Real time pollution tracking. See, when somebody says you will have an intelligent traffic light. When somebody in your team says real time pollution tracking, we can have for yesterday's problem, whatever we saw, you can categorize that urban mobility. You can categorize it as a smart city. Got it? So this is how you try to clusters out of your idea. Or else you will get headache while you're seeing the ideas. Because a lot of people in your team will have a lot of ideas. Okay again, I'm telling you again, there is no idea called a good idea or bad idea. Everything is an idea.
Okay?
And you should know how the value happens. Like let's say map the ideas to use a needs and business goal. This is very, very important. Don't just randomly write anything. You have to know how this is going to finally connect the dots. Because you should not get off track of your project. Right? Like let's say if it's a voice control device, somebody is giving an idea like accessibility or maybe what are the, Sorry, the parameters. I'm saying, okay, like let's say if a person is giving an idea, like let's say we will have a thumbprint.
Okay.
Like let's say we will have something like a dark shades. Okay, we will have something like a auto screen reader. Okay, we'll have something like a auto zoom. These are all features of accessibility. Okay, so now people are telling thumbprint. Okay, so people are telling this kind of an ideas. Like let's say you're designing some kind of a mobile app or website for dumb deaf people or blind people. Okay, Somebody is giving these ideas. You can group it to accessibility, very simple. And you can tell, you can think about what are the market differentiation factors, how the competitors are different, what are the competitors doing. And then you put it as a voice control device. These ideas are coming and then you group it like that. So when you have a clusters of ideas, you will have only three to four clusters. Even if you're ideating with hundred people. See, 100 ideas has now become four ideas mean four clusters. Once you have that cluster, then you can do something like this. I will Tell you how we can start from the cluster and start making sense out of it. Okay, so this is one particular information. Did you. Did you guys bring out me some ideas? Ramraj and other team, please do it guys. If. If you guys give me, I'll be able to show it live with you. Okay, fine. Okay, so there is something called pugmatics. Let me talk about it.
Okay.
I'll just show you an example how to create it. See, when you're having some kind of ideas like let's say clustered into it. Okay. The step one is writing the ideas. The step two is clustering. The step three, what you have to do is evaluate the options against criteria. Like let's say if people are giving the ideas, you should ask, hey, with respect to functionality, how this idea is there? Can you rate it like let's say 8, 10 out of 10. 7 out of 10. With respect to usability, how much this is? It is six. With respect to practical implementation in the software development, how much score it is? It is zero. Because it is not practically implementable. Are you guys getting it or not? The moment when you rate the concepts with the rank, with the. With the score, each and every concept will have a weightage.
Okay.
So evaluate option against the criteria. Choosing the best idea for the thing. Okay, so this is how the evaluation table will look like. I'm just giving you an idea. Idea one. Like let's say Ramraj is telling this idea. Like let's say Chitra is telling this idea. Stre Balaj is telling this idea. Feasibility 4. Desirability 5. Viability 3. Total score is 12. Idea 2 has 12. Idea 3 has 13. So what I will do is I will take.
Okay.
This is the best idea. Let's go for this. It's not like I like street biology. That's why I'm taking his idea. No, the score is like this. If you wanted to go more deeper, have more parameters, competitor differentiation, business goal meet and you can have something like accessibility. You can have whatever parameters you want based on the problem statement you guys are taking. And then use ChatGPT also. It will give you many parameters. When you put the problem statement carefully inside it. And then ask all of your teammates to vote it.
Okay.
Don't only vote yourself and put the score. That is also called favoritism. Okay, you will put concept three is your idea. You will put 10 out of 10 and then you will put Balaji's idea zero.
Okay.
So you should. You should also vote with all the people. You should call the cross functional team. The development team, the testing team, the engineering team, the design team, the senior management, the marketing, sales. And then you rate all of your concept. Then you will have an excellent clarity towards which concept really works good. And you will have a justification. Okay, out of 10 people, seven people like Blue colors. That is why this solution has been built. And lot of people have voted for the blue color. You can have color as one parameter. And it's not like you like blue color. You put it. I mean, this is not a. This is not a biased game. We as a designer has to put away all of our personal preferences. I like particular certain colors, I like particular graphics. I like this minimalism. No, minimalism is a. Is a what you call. It's not a concept. Minimalism is a way of looking at the design. It doesn't mean every concept has to be in minimal. Minimal make it super. No, it's not like that. Sometimes people need lot of things at one place. You go to the cockpit of a pilot, you can't tell minimalism there, right? You have to tell simplification. Maybe something else is different there. So every context requires a different way of approaching it. Okay, so you should have a justification why that idea is chosen. Like let's say if you're bringing this concept, why definitely your client is going to ask you. Definitely a manager is going to ask you why this. Even if they did not ask, you should tell. Sir, out of this voting, more than 80% people have voted this because of the desirability and the practical manufacturability. This idea has a good potential, but it is not practically feasible. Score is 0. If you have 0, the score will be getting reduced. So that is the reason we are going with idea three and we are going to build it tomorrow. And then you build on top of it. See, this is how you add value with respect to what people are telling for your ideas. Nobody has a personal attack in design studios unless when you put a tablet column like this. And then when you evaluate your ideas, prioritize it. Nobody will have any fight. Even you're working. You guys are working in a team of two or three people, right? Many people will have a little disputes. Hey, whether this concept is good. Hey, no, no, no, no. Shashank concept is good. Hey, no, no, no. This person concept is good. So no fight. Just put a matrix, rank it quickly, take the result. That's it. Okay, you guys can do it. It's not a very big deal. What happened? Okay, fine. So now isn't have a principle matrix. Okay, so there is something Very interesting, guys. Okay, this is normally used for time management principle, but you guys can do it in your design project as well. Like let's say you have something like a four category when you're creating an idea.
Okay?
Puke matrix is very important, right? This is additional.
Okay.
First, which features can be immediately implemented? Write that down. Try to write a 4 matrix like this.
Okay.
Second, not urgent, but it can be scheduled later in your feature wise.
Okay.
In your, in your functionality you have. You have five priorities to five different features to put in your application or. Or the concept what you generated. But you don't know what to do.
Okay.
Prioritization is very, very important. That's why I'm helping you with this. The second you can have something like a not urgent, maybe in the next version we can release the software. I mean the next version we can implement this version.
Okay.
Third, urgent but not important. Like let's say you don't have the capability to build that particular thing as a concept, but you needed that, that you can delegate that, that you can bring the other people support to do it. This is where you talk to cross functional team and get the help of others. Fourth, neither urgent nor important. That means you have to completely eliminate that idea. Just because the idea seems fancy, it doesn't mean we have to go and implement it. If you don't have the priority, what happens? You will work on a wrong idea and waste lot of your time as well as your team's time as well as your company's budget. Are you guys getting clarity.
Now?
I'm going to give you three minutes of time, guys. Okay, take out one sheet like this. Take out one sheet like this, okay? Oh my God. I took my day. Plan, action plan tone. Okay, fine. I work in paper, guys. Every day. Start. I used to write the task, write it down in a paper. Look at this. Numbering everything.
Okay?
And then I go for the second one. Look at this. So everything is like. I do it manually. I don't like this digital way of doing.
Just a second.
Sometimes my daughter comes and scrapes away all these things. That's why I'm keeping it little safe.
Okay?
So you take this particular note like this, okay? You guys divide the column like this. Divide the column like this and put this four priority whatever I'm telling you, okay? Take your bunch of ideas, what you have in your earlier project. People are working in the team. It's great already. They have a project, they have a lot of ideas. Okay? People who are brand new who are attending for the first time. Take your existing projects, whatever you have. Maybe you're doing it as a trial project or your institute project or your own self project. Take that. Okay, try to give a priority like 1, 2, 3, 4. Fourth is eliminate. It's like completely eliminate. Okay, once you create this matrix, just take one picture of it. Okay, Fourth is eliminate. The first one is urgent.
Okay.
Urgent as well as important.
Okay.
The second priority is what? The second priority is scheduling. You can go scheduling in the next version. Okay, what are the features we can schedule? Third, we can delegate it urgent but you can't do it. Okay, so like this, you create a very good category for this and write down the features there. Like let's say 1-2-334. See you can have a features like this. You can just put a sticky notes here and you can create it.
Okay.
And once you create this, you will have a much clarity. Can you guys try it out now before we go for the puke matrix? I'll give you three minutes. Now the time is 6:44. Nobody is sending me any chat guys. If you guys are sending me some thing, it will be better. Okay, do it. No problem.
Fine. It.
Oh, Pearl design is typing. Jaimini is typing. How can I design SaaS products? Jaimini, when did you ask this question? This. This skill is not about SaaS product design. This skill is about bringing ideas and prioritizing. Okay, reach out to me separately if you want to know what is SaaS products. Okay, who's that? Pearl design seems a little familiar. Oh Muthu, Muthu, why don't you join in the zoom call here?
Okay, fine. Okay, good.
Okay, enough guys. Enough, enough, enough, enough. Stop, stop, stop. Okay, now you have a priority. Okay, take that first priority here what you. What you guys have written in the 1. Take that priorities. Okay, take that priority of the features and just list it down as idea one, Idea two, Idea three, Idea four. Maybe top three ideas you can put. That's also enough. Okay, once you put that into another new sheet like this, let's say you put that feature as idea one. Like let's say you wanted to implement the sort feature. Sorry. If you want to implement the sort feature.
Okay.
If you want to implement a filter feature or maybe if you want to implement something like a. Like let's say you wanted to give a search feature for your particular application that you think is really good. Okay, so all of your four teammates are having four different priorities. They're saying this is important, this is important, this. Okay, so what you guys are going to do is you Guys are point to put a parameter like this. The first parameter, it's just a how frequent the users are going to use. Giving you an example of this context. But for your problem you have to decide. Okay, I can't, I can't teach it like syllabus for this. Because every problem is different and the nature is different for some problem. The functionality is important, feasibility is important.
Okay.
And how frequently users are using that is important. Okay, let's say for this case I would say how frequently people are using. If out of 10 people, nine people are using the sort feature every single time, then you will have to bloody give it 10 rating. Simple. There is no doubt what happened. This blur is. How do I remove this blur? Guys, the zoom is like very irritating. Okay, you guys can see this, right? Okay, fine. So what I'm saying is you. You write one parameter here which is the actual thing. Like let's say how frequent people can use.
Okay?
How practically developable it is. Competitor reference. All the competitor has it. Yes, we can safely have. Sometimes management will be very comfortable when all the competitors are doing it. They don't want to take a new risk and get failed. Okay, third parameter you can have like let's say how usable it is. Let's say the earlier concept. If people are able to use it in 10 steps, are they able to use it in just three steps with a lesser span of time? Then the usability is extremely high. So you should tell, hey, using this particular concept, user can able to select the items quickly and see the items what he required. So it is very very simple. Then everybody will start reading. And then once you have all of these parameters, see the more ideas you have, the more parameters you have to have. The reason being a lot of ideas will get distracted. I mean will get away. Only few ideas will get crystallized and you guys will get the best ranking out of it.
Okay?
So once you give that what you have, what you have to do is you have to add all the points and automatically you will say which concept is the highest rank. Can you guys try it out now for your ideas, you rate yourself. That is okay, no problem.
Okay.
Because right now we don't have a team because it's not a hackathon. We can't. We can't give you breakout rooms and all these things.
Okay?
It's already time. So you rate yourself first.
Okay.
And I would recommend you to go and take it with your team today in your today's project.
Okay.
And give me a report and give me. How did you guys Complete this.
Okay.
I have not seen any people in any portfolio doing this kind of stuff. Every guy makes a portfolio like a childish way. I don't know why. Say you have one idea and that becomes the best idea in the world. And then you start documenting. Jagdish, tell me what is wrong with my portfolio. Tell me how I can make a visually appealing portfolio. The way in which the question people are asking. No, it's fine. But at least now you guys are aware.
Okay?
Process is important and this is the way to choose each and every ideas. Okay, Please do it. The time is six five zero. Next three minutes. You guys should create this dapa, this. This matrix and bring that. Out of five you read. You don't have to rate out of ten out of out of five. You put best as five, little as four, three. Worst is zero. Can you show a best portfolio for reference? See again this question is coming. There is nothing called best. Ramraj, you are the best. Your portfolio is the best. Okay, don't copy if I show you the best. Oh, I have to copy this subconsciously you will think consciously will not be copying thinking. You will be subconsciously putting that as a reference. Show your process. Ram Raj, that is the best what you did as a project. Show that. Can you show some categories? Chitra? Okay, okay. I just looked at your text now. Okay, fine, fine. See parameters. Text could be whatever is your context here. See you tell. That's why I asked you to you guys to bring some project. Because the problem statement. Then I'll be able to give you some examples.
Okay.
See this, I gave you some examples. Okay fine. Look at this. See feasibility is one parameter.
Okay.
Like let's see how practically feasible that idea is. Like let's say I'll give you one more idea, one more thing.
Okay.
How frequent the uses frequency.
Okay.
The next could be something like usability.
Okay.
There is something called visibility.
Okay.
There is something called error prevention. These are all UX laws. People say that's okay. But you have to also understand based on the feature. If it's more of application website feature. These kind of parameters needs to be kept. You understand, right? If you're developing a physical product. If you're developing something very different like let's say if you're developing a system you should understand how people can able to learn it. Learning curve. Like let's say your concept maybe super suprine concept. But people can't learn it very easily. Then your score comes down. That concept is not good. Then we have to eliminate that, right? So you guys have to decide here based on the project. It's good that you asked me this question, Chitra, but that particular project people has to sit and decide that. Okay, you can get a confirmation from me. That's where I'm needed. I'll be helping you whether you guys are in the right track or not.
Okay.
But ultimately that has to come from you. We can't generalize this particular topic.
Okay.
Learning curve. Then you can have something like. Like let's say. Like let's say simple to. Okay. Web optimized.
Nice. One second.
Something is happening.
Okay.
Web optimized.
Okay.
Is your. Is your idea. It's all web optimized, Mobile optimized. Is it adaptive screen? It is responsive. Whatever.
Okay.
So make sure you give a rating for that particular parameter. Automatically you will get the clarity.
Okay.
If everything is good but if it's not responsive enough then it can't be scalable product. Right. Like let's say adherence to design system. Also you can have 1, 1, 1 parameter. You guys have a design system in your company and automatically that has to align with your design system. Like let's say you have a very erratic. I mean erratic idea. Super excellent idea. But it is not falling in your design system. Then every score will come zero. Maybe you will put 10 out of 10. But your company, all the employees who's rating this particular matrix they'll put 000. Then automatically that concept will run away. So it is to bring out the best concept from the. What you call from the lot of ideas. Are you guys getting it? You got it. Some example. But anyway I would say bring that particular case study. We can discuss more one more minute problem is. Okay, J. I asked list of ideas. If I have ideas we can able to show the priority. The matrix. The puke matrix. What we are trying to say right. But anyway. Fine guys, but did you get the concept or not? Type out you in the chat box if you understood the concept what we discussed. I hope you will do it in a team that that's what I want. If that understanding is not clear, maybe I'll quickly explain you again type out in the chat you if you guys understood.
Okay.
Anyway complete this activity fast and go and mark your attendance today I'm going to give you 200 points. 200 points taken advantage of. Go to your learning management system feed section and just mark your attendance.
Okay, good. Good.
I'm a bit confused. When you do a project Sumana, you will get clarity. The reason why you're getting confused is you have not did anything hands on, that's. That's the major thing. Once you did something hands on automatically you will get clarity. Don't worry. Fine. That's what taking action, doing mistakes is called. Learning design. You can't learn like a theory, right? Yes. Can somebody show me the Matrix? What you guys prepared a picture? Ramraj somebody. Shri Balaji, Chitra. Somebody can show. I'm not able to mark my attendance. Mekna, I don't really understand what is it like? Are you logging in with the right system or not? Tell me that attendance is there for everybody here. I don't know how it will not be available for one people. I'll connect with you separately. It's a universal feature we have built for every student.
Okay.
And from January, guys, I'm not sure exactly January, there is one great challenge which is going to come for the 30 days.
Okay.
And in this Saturday, I'll tell you what is that particular challenge about? The challenge is who gets the maximum in? It's a weak challenge.
Okay.
In. In one week, who gets the maximum rejections in the interview? We are going to give them Apple headset. Maximum rejections in the interviews. Maximum. Let's say you get three interview rejections. If somebody gets five interview rejections and that rejection should be in an email with the proper feedback why it got rejected.
Okay.
So the more rejections you are able to get in this particular program, you guys are going to win an Apple headset. Who wants Apple headset? Not AirPods guys, of course, the Wirewalla one.
Okay.
We'll be able to ship you that some of the best quality what you call sound you can have.
Okay.
I recorded all of my 250 episodes of podcast in that. It's a. It's a great headset.
Okay.
I'm going to give that challenge in the Saturday. I'll tell you how to approach that particular challenge. You can play it in our level up platform itself. But I'll be just giving you the announcement and everything.
Okay.
Right now we are setting it so you have to get a little bit comfortable with the platform. You should not tell me where is attendance. Attendance is a very simple feature.
Okay.
Maybe I'll record a short video in the coming days to know like how to get used to all of the features inside learning management portal. It's not like you're just. You're watching the course. There are many features. Like let's say you can comment, you can ask questions to me personally in the inside the portal. You guys can click this. Attendance. You guys can Take the assignments as well. I will tell you slowly, one by one. Okay, you guys can also see this. But. But I'll let you know.
Okay, cool.
Can somebody send the picture fast before we end the call? Time is up. Time is up. Time is up fast. Because guys, if I'm able to see your work, only I will be able to get the clarity what mistakes you guys are doing. Okay, There is something called morphological mapping. Listen to me. If you guys understood puke matrix. Okay, if you guys understood puke matrix, fill all these parameters with the morphology of the particular object. What you've taken yesterday, what we took Cheetah yesterday, what we took igloo, right? Take that particular parameters and plug that into a character and build a concept and then you rate it again.
Okay?
Actually this is. This is a little tricky thing to teach. We'll do it in something live activity for you guys. This is enough for now, okay? Because you can combine all of these things and build a great feature. See example we video call plus automation per team collaboration. What is this? It's called Zoom. It's called Microsoft Teams. This is a solution, right? Imagine if teams and Microsoft doesn't have this idea initially and then. And then they use this morphological matrix to bring everything in together. That becomes a morphological idea. And then you rate it, rank it, it becomes the highest concept. Because sometimes it's not only one parameter wins the game. Sometimes three, four parameters takes out. So it is up to you how you wanted to do it practically and get the clarity.
Okay?
Yes, guys, so we are officially ending to the. I mean coming to the end of the session, send it to me personally in WhatsApp. I'll give a correction. I'll send a chat, GPT prompts also in the WhatsApp group.
Okay, fine.
Have a great day, guys. Any doubts, reach out to me, okay?
