Day 98- Typeface Skills 100 Days 100 Skill Booster Sessions

This is a YouTube video titled "Day 98- Typeface Skills 100 Days 100 Skill Booster Sessions" created on December 29, 2024. The content likely focuses on typeface skills as part of a skill-building series, but no conversational dialogue or multiple speakers are indicated in the excerpt.
It we are actually going to see something called typeface. Okay, so how many of you have little bit had a knowledge in typeface? What's your experience towards typeface? Can you just tell me how is your proficiency with respect to typeface? How comfortable you are in choosing that? Do you know any basics about it or you're a complete ground zero guy? Like hey Jagdish, I don't know anything. I just know, I know how to choose the default typeface in my, my software. But I don't know what goes beyond somebody is like that. Okay, I think many people would be like that. Yeah, me, me, me. Okay, okay, good font. Okay, fine. Excellent guys. See this is very, very important topic. Okay? Again, this is one of the mandatory skills. We should not think whether it is needed, whether it aligns with my codex. That question is immaterial here. Okay, okay, this is, this is like what do you say it's as important as wearing a dress. What will happen if you don't wear dress? Nanga Beta. Right? Something they call right. So what happens is when you don't choose the right font for your type for your projects or case study or anything, your project will also look like that. Very, very ugly, very naked. It doesn't fit. So the aesthetic sense for your overall composition, whatever you guys are constructing is majorly, majorly dependent on the typeface what you choose. Okay, so Typhus, what is exactly this typeface particularly about? A little context about typeface. I will tell you. Before 18th century and before 17th, 17th century, mid what people were doing is they were doing many kind of a manual method of printing the books. Like let's say if they have to really take a, take a copy of a book, okay. So they would manually transcribe it. There would be people who would be transcribing this as a full time job. Imagine they'll be just copying the book from the palm leaves from other, other social and conventional mediums. They used to construct it into, reconstructed and, and transcribe into a different book. So only limited books were available. Not everybody can go and access that. And it's also very expensive because the manual labor which goes inside that is pretty high. Okay, so that's the point behind it. And the second is the scalability was not happening. We were not able to do it for 500, 2000 people. So because of which many, many people came up with many solutions. Offset printing, lithograph printing. And many people started inventing some printing machines and all. So they, they did not come up initially with a lot of Ideas, but slowly, slowly. It evolved in the 18th century. So because of the, what you call the war, because of the world war and because of the wars which happened before the World War I and 2, people needed information to be transferred really fast from the region to region. Okay. They need some kind of a method to see that what is happening on the other side. Because the radio frequency and all those things were not very, very famous or it was not even invented at those times. So newspaper has been a big, big breakthrough for these people. They used to do the offset printing and they used to communicate the news through that. Okay? From 17th century, mid itself, it started. So people started printing out the newspapers and they invented the machine called offset printing. Okay. They create a technology in which machine can able to print the types, typefaces, whatever they're trying to create. And they can able to create offset based printing for that. Like let's say they did a, they did a keypad kind of a thing. They try to create basic texture on it and then they create a plate for it and then they do offset. That is what is a basic, basic way of printing. They did offset printing and they were limited colors. They used like, let's say predominantly black. Mostly it was black only. There is no colors before that. But after that, what happens? They started printing for a bigger, bigger paper and started putting it in a proper format. So then only this typeface came into the picture. The reason, because it needs to have a discipline, it needs to have a proper structure. It needs to be communicated across all the places in the same language. And also many people who are reading this typeface and many people who are actually what you call reading from the other end of the country, they should also understand what is this exact. Like let's say you communicate G differently and if the other person says G differently, it will be, it will be, it will be not correct. Right? So the commonality and standardization has to come. So that is the reason typeface industry started evolving a lot. Remember this word standardization, scalability. Okay? Because of these two reasons, people started inventing a lot of innovations inside the printing technology. And they started using colors and then they started using inkjet printers and then they started using LaserJet, LaserJet printers. And then they started inventing some typeface offset and methods how we can able to create different, different types with respect to italic, with respect to bold. So a lot of different variations came after that. Okay, so this is how the quick snap of the earlier past, what has happened? And there was a need at the 18th century and mid of the 17th century to communicate the message from one country to another. So that is a primitive need for bringing typeface into the market. Typeface into the world, which needs standardization and scalability a lot. Okay, so printing industry without this type face will not be able to do much of innovation or much of communication. It doesn't just set. Okay, so type face is not just you're choosing some Hela or Ariel or a robot or something. Type face is a life phase. If you guys wanted to construct a life for your. For your. For your posters, for your text, for your. For your shared a meeting in file. File in a meeting. Okay? If you guys wanted to share, if you guys wanted to what you call create a life for your. For your posters or case studies or projects or anything. Typeface is very, very important because typeface is a life face. The way in which you choose a typeface, it all matters a lot. And you tend to create a different meaning altogether by creating something random. Okay? So you need to understand this. How many of you have got the clarity quickly. Now type C in the chat box. Thank you, Ramraj. Thank you. Yes. There's also one way to do. Okay, great. This is a quick snap of it. Okay, so now I'm just sharing you the screen. So what are the different types of type phase? Guys? What is the things available? Jagdish. So typeface are predominantly in two types. Two different types. Okay. One is serif based and another is sans serif based. So what is this serif based? Serif based is little classical way of seeing. How many of you have seen Game of Thrones typeface? How many of you are a fan of Game of Thrones? How many of you watched that? Nobody. How do I put, how do I give another example? Okay, okay, okay. Me Sameer. Okay, fine. Only some nobody watches. Guys, tell me honestly, you don't watch Game of Thrones? Okay, fine, no problem. Have you seen Times New Roman font? Please go to your software and open the times New ribbon right away. Okay? You'll understand what is mean by serif just by looking at it. Okay, so serif has this kind of a legs and feet. Can you see this? Legs and feet. Whoever has the legs and feet, they are called serif. Classical people, old people, primitive people. Okay. Whoever doesn't have this kind of legs, they are called sans serif. Modern people. That's it guys. These two things are only available clear. That's all. Typeface is ending. That's what is typeface. Okay, rest of the things slowly you can learn and rest of the things you can go and understand the nuances and the terminologies and everything. In type phase, it is not important to remember the terminologies much. It is important to have a feel of how you wanted to construct your life with that typeface. What you, whatever you are choosing. Every typeface has a history. Every typeface has an innovator. Every typeface has been designed for a particular context. Like let's say the same Times New Roman or using numerical letters is not sometimes suitable. It will look very nasty and ugly. Like let's say if you're using Montserrat. Montserrat looks very well for letters, but not well for numbers. Helvetica looks good for numbers as well as text. Futura looks good for text, but not for numbers. So many typeface are designed with a functionality in the mind that innovator has designed this. Designing typeface is not a joke, guys. It will take more than one year to design a proper typeface. Lot of research, extensive study, dimension measurement, everything. People go into a precise millimeter level adjustments to create a difference in their typeface. Or else every typeface will look same. No, but ABCD is everywhere. Abcd, what are the difference? Am I right or not? We should not talk like an illiterate person. ABCD has so much of variations with respect to design of that particular typeface for that context. That is why it has been predominantly classified into serif and san serif, the two common typefaces. Serif are recognized by the tiny lines and feet Sans, which is Latin without that do not have the features of the small lines. This is a little context of it. Both categories are used for designing documents, web pages, books, marketing materials, etc very, very common. Okay, are we guys clear about it? Fine. So this is some terminologies which I will tell you guys, okay? You guys have to remember this for sure. I'll tell you why it is important. The baseline what they drawn? No, this is called baseline. The name itself is baseline. Very simple. Every type face, when it is constructed on a line, it is actually called baseline. Okay, this line remember. Anything which goes beyond below. Okay, can you see this? Y Can you see this? Why can you see this? It's called descender. Anything which goes above this, like, let's say. Can you see one more line here? Are you Sorry, can you see one more line here? Very, very important. Guys, please remember this. If you are getting very strong in these topics, people will not be able to touch your knowledge. Okay? See, look at this. In fact, to be honest, this is the only height X Height for that particular typeface. Anything which is going above is called ascender. Anything which is going below is called descender. Are we guys getting it? Very simple. If you can remember that much, it is more than. More than enough. Okay, what is this counter? Can you see one share it here in the O. That's called counters. Wherever the gap you are finding, like let's say the complete closed gap, predominantly O will have the. Okay, the counter, okay. But it is not be much used. But you will have to remember only the baseline, the X height and the bottom and the ascender and the descender. Okay. Rest of the terminologies, it's not much needed as of now. You guys can go forward completely. Okay? And the other terminology which is important is. Is leading. How many of you know leading? How many of you know letting. We're going to have a small quiz at the end of this session, okay? You guys are not just learning theory. I'm a twisty guy. If I teach some theory, I will expect a lot from you. Okay? We are going to have some quiz at the last. Okay, so what does mean by leading? Like there is a line difference between this baseline and this baseline, right? Have you seen. Can you adjust the paragraph style in. In Word file or Microsoft or PPT or Canva? Have you seen that line adjustment paragraph. You keep one space, two space. That is exactly called leading. L, E A D I N G Ling type out in the chat. Leading space between two lines, space between two baselines. That is called leading. We're going to see some more terminologies, but just, just remember for yourself right now, okay? Yes. So just to recap quickly, serif. If it's not having. It's a sans serif. And yeah, this is a. This is a descenders. The above is ascenders. Can you see this? And also sometimes when you have this curve, like let's say in the Y, these are all sometimes called tail, okay? Because it has a portion to do that. So that's what is a excite. This is a median. This is a baseline. Very simple. This much, if you understand it, is more than. More than sufficient, guys. Okay. Rest of the terminologies we can learn slowly. So what happens when you're using typhus? I told you. Scalability, reproducibility. Sorry, I forgot the word reproducibility. You will have to reproduce the same even if you are building this in the West Bengal or whether you are building it from the Tamil Nadu or anywhere. Okay? It needs to be reproducible. If Ramraj is also Typing out R. And if Ramraj is also having offset printer and he's also having a Hindu paper there, if he uses a different kind of what you call the. The dies for the typeface printing and if I use a different one, that's completely a waste of what you call it will deviate the total purpose. People will not understand the brand. Or maybe people will not understand the meaning. Or Ramraj has to do a separate R D to create a very good typeset offset printing. For him to do it, that's a complete waste of time. So that is why the reproducibility is very important in order to do that. Okay. And perceived meaning, congested issue, separate meaning. It's operate printing. Okay. So just to say, like let's say how many of you know this offset printing? It's actually based on the die. It's a very, very simple, primitive method of doing it. So let me show you an image. You guys will understand what is offset printing. Look at this, look at this. How many of you know this process? It's very simple. See, there will be one die prepared which will be looking like a negative. Okay. Which will be also the offset. And based on that, the posture will be printed. Okay. You don't have to remember this roller, this, that and all. So people first try to print. Mostly it has been used for like let's say poster making or like, let's say you have to create some kind of a very good cover page for your. For your book or magazine or anything they used to print it. And it's also used in newspaper industry. Yeah. But there will be a set of rollers where can you see two different colors? Can you see two different colors? One is the guide roller. One is the way in which the negative is printed. Another one is the empty sheet which will be put out like let's say if you're using a normal paper or anything, this goes and just prints on this side. That's it. Very simple. Nothing magic. Okay. They keep the rollers in a way. It automatically goes and prints in this way. Whatever you are having in that plate, it will get transferred to this. If you put the blue coloring. Yeah, blue will come. If you put white coloring, white will come. So anything just you are doing it, it will come like that. Okay. And there are many technical details inside it that is not required. Okay. You can see that many rollers. Have you seen in the printing press, the paper comes out like a roll. Same like that. Okay. Still also it is very prevalent and people are using it. Yeah. Even though the Inkjet printers came. The laser jet printers came. Many advanced printers are also available like. But this is very, very primitive and. And people use it still now for the context, whatever they have. Can you look at this? Can you see what is this guys? Can you remember what is this? Can somebody tell me what is this? Yesterday we saw this. Exactly. Excellent. They are super. So why is this person checking the quality of the ink? What happens is over the time they will understand whether the ink is emptied or maybe getting changed over the time because of the thickness what it is being printed here. So then they'll know, okay, aa. The ink has been emptied. We will have to change the ink. We will have to refill the load or something like that. Okay? Yeah, we can see this. Digital printing is happening nowadays. Okay, A simple example of. Sorry, offset printing. Okay. Yes. So the perceived spaces congested issue separate meaning. A. Okay, this is fine guys. Die making is one thing which you have to remember. So now let's see. One terminology called kerning. Okay. How many of you know kerning? I've already told about two terminologies. Don't worry, we'll see it one more time. Okay, how many of you can understand cunning by this picture? Nothing complex guys. It's very simple. Are you guys getting it? The space between each letters is actually called kerning. You can do it for all the entire words also that has a different meaning. But you can do it for one one word also. It doesn't matter. You can play around with this. Okay, without cunning with kerning. Can you see some difference here? Can you see some difference here? Sometimes if you don't leave enough space, it will become a big problem. It will look very ugly. Can you see here for each and every space there is one difference. This is called spacing. See, there is a difference between cunning and spacing. Okay. Kerning is for each letter. Spacing is for the entire. Like let's say the. Let's say this bird is anatomy. Okay? Okay. If you guys go to the software and increase the space. Have you seen there'll be one arrow mark like this in the software. In Canva or Word file or ppt. You guys can increase this typeface. Like look at this. I don't know whether in this do we have this because it's a. It's a Microsoft Google Slide. I'm not sure whether that much of options is there are here. Okay, hold on. Hold on guys. Hold on. Okay, can you see my post? Merry Christmas. No, no, nothing. A big problem. Yeah, look at this. Like let's say If I'm having this kind of space, can you see one arrow mark here? Spacing, Very simple. If you guys wanted to increase the space. Can you see spacing? Kerning is very different. Okay, Spacing is the overall. See, this is poor spacing. This is too much spacing. This is optimal. So what good. Okay, what is line spacing? What is this? Just now we saw. What is this? Baseline to baseline. Exactly. Perfect. Okay. Type. Yell. Leading. Leading. Okay. So you have to remember this. It's very simple. So why it has been used to jagdish? Sometimes it has been considered for use of aesthetics. Sometimes. Sometimes it has been considered to use deliberately to create a meaning around it. Like let's say if you give enough space, only certain words can be perceived easily by the people. If I ram it too much, like, let's say I created like this, it may create a beauty, it may create a disharmony. People will not be able to read what you're trying to say. So what happened then? People set one standard. Why don't we keep some normal standards and why don't we keep a terminology for that so that people can able to control them? And as. And when the designers required to control it, they can able to change it. Right? So that is why this terminologies are coming in. Or else we won't be seeing all these things and all. Okay, that's a. That's a very important thing. Fine. Now let's get into this spacing. Okay? Like I think I told sans serif. So sans serif Ascender descended everything we know. And yeah, so tail, crossbar, ice plane. These are not required guys for you, okay, if you want you can able to learn it later. But this is not really required as of now. Okay, Just. We'll have to learn the basics. Okay, so now I'm going to be giving you an exercise for you guys. Okay? So login with your laptop. Everybody is logging with your laptop. Fine. Are we ready? Are we ready? Ready, ready. Hold on, I'm just sharing you the screen. Okay, I'm just logging with your screen. Hold on. So you guys know what is little bit of basics in. In. In. In Typhus? Can you tell me at least that I can understand little bit of typeface? I can see what is mean by basics? Mean, what are the history of typhus? What are the little types of two types? And what are some terminologies? We know something like this, right? So now I wanted to go into an artistic mode now. Okay, I'm going to show you an activity where you Will have to just follow this. Let me see how you guys are able to come up with the. What you call a good one. So can you read this activity? So what happens is I'm going to be asking you guys to just read some sentences. Okay? I'm going to be putting some, some. Some words, some lines. Please read it first. Get the meaning. Okay? Once you guys get the meaning, try to arrange this text critically, creatively and choose any typeface which is okay for you in your library or software or whatever you're using. Try to create a meaning around it, the same meaning, okay? Whatever has been there, you have to create the same meaning out of it. You wanted to make the user read this entire text into a visual format by using some different, different typefaces. Okay, I'm going to be showing you the sentences now. Ready? Yes. I wanted you guys to do it really fast. Okay, read this. In the midst of modern chaos, where technology intertwines with tradition, a delicate balance emerges. A symphony of innovation plays harmoniously with the echoes of time honored principle. As we navigate this dynamic land space, the intersection of creativity and functionality becomes. Become our compass in the canvas of possibility. Each element holds the potential to tell unique story. Explore the juxtapositions, Let white space breathe life into your composition and allow typeface to dance with images. Resize, rearrange, realign these words to sculpt a visually narrative. Transcend the ordinary in the editorial playground. Embrace the art of design as a reflection of ever evolving world we inhibit inhabit. Okay, read it twice or thrice. Being a typeface designer or being a visual designer first, it is not very important to directly go into the software or start sketching. First get the understanding of the context. What is required? There is a meaning associated for these words. Read it one more time, you will get it. There is a strong emotional reason why the sentences are put. And there is a. There is a in depth meaning also conveyed for this context first, as a designer, we have to understand that. Step one, can you read it one more time? Guys, I'll give you 30 seconds more. Okay? Clear. So you can read one more time. Also, I'm going to be keeping this slide open. What you have to do step two is think about what kind of a typeface can I arrange. Okay, you guys know about rhythm, harmony and all these things, right? Take one simple canva poster or one PPD empty slide. Okay? It's very, very simple to do it even in ppd. If you're okay with Figma, you can do. It's totally, totally Fine. You use what software you want. Try to create some kind of a meaning around it. When people are seeing your poster, they should understand what is this text? When people are reading this text, they should understand what you have in poster. Are we clear about it? Very simple activity is a conversion of these paragraphs into typeface. Let me see your creativity guys. Let me see the deep meaning. How you guys are emphasizing being a designer. It is very, very, very important to understand the deep meaning what you're trying to say. First of all, if you are not clear about your ideas and understand the requirement, then you will not be able to create a visual around it. Then the visual will also look confused like you. People will also become confused. What is that? So your visual conversion of text skills is very important. Can you do that? Use any typeface which is reflecting that and read one more time. Also keep the emotion and I'll give you two to three minutes. Guys, try to construct it. Don't play around much with the graphics. I'm not asking you to create graphics poster here. I'm asking you to just rearrange the text. Resize, rearrange, Use the typeface to construct the meaning and emotion. The people has to understand your poster and this text and they have to feel the same. That's it. Can we try that? Your time has already started. Go ahead. For that we need this entire text, right? We don't need this entire text. With the text, whatever you have in front of you right now, you can just create. See, I'm not again asking this entire text to copy and create a typeface around it. You guys can pick few elements, few text, few words. You can still do it, no problem. If you want I can able to copy this also and paste in the chat box. That is okay. But try to convey the meaning with a minimal text. Also there is a. There is a way which you ask Chitra. Like you can also take out this entire text and still rearrange and copy it. No problem. I don't mind giving this, but I wanted you guys to observe this content first of all by yourself and then try to do it. Okay, Just wait, I'll do it anyway. Not an issue. Where is this chat box? Yes, can you see in the chat box? It's available ticket but the objective is you can choose any one or two keywords or maybe one line. Or maybe you type out a line based on the sentences. You grasp this content first and then you can synthesize one small information out of. There are a lot of emotions here. Resizing realigning visual dance Transcending. Design is a reflection ever evolving. Look at it. Arrangement, arrange text. That's it. Nothing much complication. I'm saying. Okay, if you're completely stuck, you can just copy the sentence and rearrange it. It's totally fine. But it has to communicate this text. Very difficult guys. But do anyone has tried something, please post to the chat box. Come on, Fast, fast, fast. Guys, we need to arrange and we need to learn some more concepts as well. Do it fast, little fast. It's fine. Work in progress. Also you can share please. No problem. It's fine. Go ahead. Any work in progress. Images please. You can use this kerning. You can use this spacing. You can use this leading. Clear. Can we try this? You can use entirely a serif based font or sans serif based font. Are we doing it? Guys, come on. It okay. 12MBR send snapshot or screenshot. Yeah, that's enough. You don't have to send me a Sir, it. Guys, guys, enough, enough, enough. Time is already up. We'll have to go to the next topic. Punish. I'm not able to download this here. Can you send me screenshot Punish, that's enough. Yes, sir. Ram, Raj, Chitra, everybody just send your screenshot. Guys, that's enough please. How do you see? Oh, what did you do? Chitra? I'm not able to understand. I have tried to do a leading and then try to bring the paragraph in terms of a poem or something like that. Okay. Okay, good. But I'm not able to see much arrangements. That's okay. It's. It's just a start. Maybe a partial meaning is conveyed. But you can also try doing breaking this into paragraphs or trying to rearrange the text into a different format. Okay, what about others? Joladeva. Yeah, Joladeva has taken two paragraphs. That's interesting. Interesting. Yeah. You have used some basic terminologies. Okay, that's great. Great. Okay. Okay. So why don't you play with some kind of an arrangement? Why don't you play with some kind of what you call tilting the elements. It was work in progress. Did you use AI image? This is not the time here. Come on. This is not the time. I take an image from the Chrome and I edited in figma. Oh, Chrome and you edited in figma. Okay, that's good. That's good. That's good. I can really appreciate that. How many of you can see that image? What Punish said. Okay. If you're edited, I'm okay. I'm happy. Okay. The midst of Technology. Okay, okay. That's great. That's great. Okay, fine, fine. Good, good. This is what is also arrangement, guys. Okay? If he has not generated an AI image, I really like that. Because he has broken the sentence. He has given hierarchy. He has given board. He has also given a kind of first hierarchy, second hierarchy, third hierarchy, fourth hierarchy. This is how our eyes will travel, right? For the board, for the light, for the corner. And then Hiji, are you guys getting it? And then we will see and consume the meaning. See how fast I am able to consume? Like let's say if I read Citras 1, if I read Jaladeva's 1, if I read this one, I'll be able to understand much faster, right? Maybe the drone is little bit off the context, but Punish can also choose the right image accordingly in order to communicate the message. But that. That's not a big point. But it's all about how we are communicating it quickly. Okay? So the deep meaning is very, very important for this. Can you see how does it look? It conveys a different meaning, right? See, I don't have time or else I would ask you to write sentences about this poster. What do you see by this? Can you convert this typeface arrangement into a paragraph? It's exactly the opposite. Exercise what we did. Now, I love typhography. The style, the arrangement, the appearance on the text of a page. Love. See, instead of just telling love, instead of just putting love, they just carved out the I with that love symbol. And they've created a dynamic way of type facing. And they've also used the serif based font. Can you see this here? And also they have used this yellow T a lot. See, the communication is coming, right? Are we getting it or not? So the main intent of communication is coming out here. But the law for typography is what people are trying to say in this poster. The style, the arrangement, appearances, text on the pace page. Okay? Are we guys getting it? How about this? Can we try like this one? There is no graphics guys here. I've not asked you to create a graphics. I just asked you to create a arrangement. See, Punish has little bit understood a little deeply. But others are still getting it. It's okay, fine. Can we also try like this? Can we also arrange it in this paragraph? Can we also put some thick, some. Some Bodoni, some thin, some Gabatista? I don't know. Like the meaning is very different. But we can also try to do like this way, right? The arrangement of type faces, they are the usage of technical terminologies. To increase the spacing. Or maybe you can use hierarchy. You can use many, many other words. You can also emphasize one word. It's okay. I also told you to rearrange and resize and everything, right? You can do it. Keep a big T. Who's stopping you? We get type face T. Okay? That's. That's a freedom what we have, right? So there is. There's nothing. How many of you can see this? The meaning is there, right? If I'm asking you to do a paragraph writing for this, everybody will be able to do a lot of deciphering out of this. But if I'm asking from a paragraph to typeface, that becomes little difficult for the people. We are out of ideas or we don't know how to rearrange it. Right? Right? Am I right or not? So look at this. These are some terminologies. But he has also arranged the terminologies in a way so that it is visually appealing as well. Okay, so now I wanted you guys to do one thing. I wanted you guys to do one thing. Okay, so let's, let's. Let's do this, this part. Hold on. Okay, let's do this part. Where is that? Okay, fine. So look at this thing. Okay, so I just told you about the terminology. I've told you about the basics of it. I will also tell little more about it. Like let's say you can see these are like old style typefaces. This conveys a different meaning when you construct the poster. Like, let's say, who's that? Joladevas communicated one poster, right? It communicates to me like an old style. It communicates me like a very primitive old style, right? So the way in which you choose a style also communicate that meaning. So right now you guys have read the sentences. So this has a meaning, right? So that meaning has to be reflected in your typeface. The choice of your typeface should convey the exact meaning. It should not be different. If it's very different, then it will look like Nanga Beta. Simple. It will look very different. It will look totally, totally off the topic. Okay? Transitional. Look at this. Modern. Look at this. Slab serifs. I don't know about slab serifs and all these things, right? But this has been predominantly used old style and modern. And. And I think this is traditional, not transitional. Traditional spelling is wrong. Okay? So you will have to think about it, how it is possible. Look at this. The points in which the green dots is available. You guys can see the variations there. The variations happening in that green dots Only is making you look like a different typeface. Or else the letters are same, right? Abcd, Same everywhere. Are we getting it? Fine. A little, little different creativity we guys can apply. Okay, so what happens when family meets? So we are. We are. We are a little bit learning about the type phase and we're learning about the different types of type phases. You're learning about the little basics, terminology. But what happens when family meets? Which family am I referring to here? Anybody? Any guesses? Type, type, face, family. That's exactly right, Chitra. Superb. How about this? How about this? San is okay, but can you see a mix of everything here? Can you see a mix of everything? What are you guys seeing? Tell me. In fact, there are a lot of things missing here also. But yeah, I've just put it in the text. Thin, light, ultralight, medium, heavy, italic, numbers, numericals, small letter, capital letter, uppercase, lowercase. Right? Am I right or not? Helvetica. We have a movie to watch, guys. If you guys have time, surely I'll play it today if possible. But I'll be just playing it. You guys can watch it and you can. You can take a notes out of it. Because Helvetica is a beautiful, beautiful case study. You guys can learn lot of things from Helvetica's typeface history, how it evolved. Okay, Sorry. Sorry guys. That's. It's. Something happened. Wait, can you see my screen? What is coming? Can you see my screen? Yes. Okay, so original design drawn by Max Mediager was released by has Type Foundry in Switzerland. Then by German based Temple, the parent company of Hassan. Finally by Midhen Mergin Taller Linotype. In 1983, Stampede released in your Noi Helvetika Neue. In German they call it as Neue. That means new Helvetica, okay. Are a reworking of design. Since its launch, Helvetica has begun refined by a variety of designers to add new weights and adapts the typeface for successive methods of composition from hot metal to digital. From the age old days of printing, from the dies and plates into the digital way of printing. And. And. And Helvetica has a good weights to play. I forgot to mention you that Helvetica is the most, most sweetest typeface. The reason? Because you can add a lot of weights to it. What does it mean by weight? Can somebody tell what does it mean by weight? What mean by muscle? Huh? Bold. Goa. Bold. Bold. Font size, font size. That's okay. Bold. Then what is the difference between bold and weight? Tell me. Bold has a. Bold has A meaning. Weight has a meaning, right? What does it mean by weight in general? I'm asking, okay, somebody go to the Google or, or maybe Chat GPT. Everybody go to the Google or chat chat GPT and type out what is mean by weight for a typeface. Read that definition properly. There's a huge difference between bold and weight. Okay, can you do that quickly? I wanted you guys to learn that that definition is important here. Can you read what. Can somebody read that? Weight is essentially about the relative thickness of the main stroke of the letter compared to their width and height. Exactly. Compared to there. I'm not able to hear you. And then height. What Height? Width and height compared to their width and height with the height. Okay, so the way in which, particularly if you take any kind of software like you will have an option to increase the thickness of that particular weight. I mean, thickness of the particular typeface. Right? So what happens is with, relative to its normal typeface width, which the typeface designers are early developed, like let's say Helvetica comes up with kind of a default text default weight. Okay, like let's say that weight is 5. Let's take it as a 5 pixel. No, let's have one measure. Then only we can able to increase the weight. So we tell, right, we have 50kg, 60kg, 70kg, something like that, right? We need to have a weight for the type phase. The moment when you increase that, what happens? It goes beyond its limit. Bold is something different, italic is something different. You understand, right? Weight can be extended to anywhere. If you want to create a around it, if you want to create a beauty around it, if you want to create ornamental typeface, like let's say if you wanted to play with the typeface and you wanted to create some ornamental effect out of it, then you can play around with this muscle weight and then you can still keep the context same by adding the creativity out of it. Okay, so this is the point. The next is readability and legibility. Each typeface should have a excellent readability as well as legibility. Because typeface is functionality, it's not just emotion. People have to read whatever you're trying to say. It has to be legible for the age old people. People are having reading disabilities or maybe difficulty in forming the sentences to read for the little illiterate people. Also certain basic words should be understandable. So the legibility is the sufficient understanding for the people while they are viewing the paragraph. Like let's say if I put any worst paragraph. Like let's say if the Spacing is very, very bad. Like let's say the kerning is also negative. Kerning. How many of you know negative corning? When you put opposite it is called negative coding. It's not a positive scanning. The people will not be able to read it. Legibility is very, very poor. The entire functionality and the meaning of you communicating a text or a paragraph becomes invalid. So that is why it's more important. So functional fonts, like, let's say if you take readability, I want to be red, it wants to be read, right? Legibility, it can be read. Are you guys getting it? Difference between this. Okay. Code by Jeffrey Gelman. I don't know this guy, but yeah, you can say this. Can you see this? What you call the typhus number and the pixels for it? You can increase the size, you can increase the weight, you can, you can increase the kerning, you can increase the spacing, you can increase the leading. Everything can be arranged. Every software nowadays has it, guys. Even PPT has this. Don't think only Adobe Illustrator or only Photoshop has it. No. Okay. The grasshopper began to chirp in the grass as a long thin dragonfly floated by its ground. Grace, can you see this? Also? Colors also matter here, even when you put the right typefaces. What about this? What about this? Yesterday we saw complementing colors, right? How does it really impact our readability and legibility here? Also it matters a lot. The readability is much better for this option compared to this. So even if you're functionally building a font, you should also know how to play around with the colors to construct it or else it becomes invalid. Are you guys seeing the connect between the last day and also this one? It's very important to do that and okay, now let's do one more live activity. You guys will get it. Okay. It's a little interesting activity, guys. Are you ready for this? Are you ready for this? Can you find on Typhus, please? First of all, any typeface, whichever is most most favorite, go to Google Fonts. Go to this. Go to this. I told you know this coolest.in anywhere. Do it. Okay. Open source software don't just type. I like this typeface. No, go to that. Go. Ram Raj. That's a default type. Is Ram Raj in figma, you're just seeing the figma and then you're telling. I think Ramraj definition is correct. Ranging from thin to bolt to convey the emphasis in hierarchy. In design, that's exactly called weight. I don't know D. Where are you reading that definition? From. But Ramraj, definition is actually correct. Okay, that's. Okay, fine. Fine. Guys, let's go for the next activity. Okay. So I wanted you guys to choose one type is and type out of the chat box fast. Any type is very favorite for you. Poppins. I don't like Poppins. Okay, fine. I'm just making fun. Even the. The learning management system. We are trying to change the pop ins into a different. It's in our lms. It's Poppins. I don't like it. I don't like it. Really? I don't like it. Okay, but it takes a lot of efforts to change in the back end for the typeface. But anyway, we are doing it. Okay. What about others? What about others? Somebody wants to take Helvetica. Yes. Of UI display furnish. Choose some standard font here. Sometimes it won't be web optimized for. Choose different one. Already Poppins has been chosen. You guys are playing into a comfort zone. Why not take very, very different type phase? Guys, Rockwell, this guy is doing another playful open sands. Okay. Shivraj. Okay. What about others? What about others? Choose bold. Guys, like choose boldly. Type face. Quick, quick, quick. What about others? Yeah. There are 17 people in this call. Okay. Okay. There are 15 people excluding me. Yeah. Montserrat, Monsterat. Okay. DC Sense. Okay. What? That's interesting, Gupta. That's what I'm asking. Use different different types. Guys, just don't scroll down your typeface column and then you choose one. No. Protest. Striker. Are you doing striker? Are you choosing typeface? Is there any typeface like that? Okay. I don't know. Fine. I just saw one. Okay, fine. Okay. So make sure it is standardized font because it can be replicated and reproduced in all the digital platforms. Like let's say sometimes what happens is if you're using a typeface in one software, the other software will not take it. Have you guys observed it? When you're opening a PPT file, sir, it will show all of this typeface are converted into Arial. Because Arial is the most web optimized typeface. Every system can take aerial, but not every system can take protest Striker. It will protect. Strike. It will protect. And then it will. It will not even what you call take it into consideration. Okay. Oh, it is protest. Strike. Okay, fine. Rufina. Algerian. Fine. No problem. Guys, Railway. I really like it. Akshida Railway is most web optimized. Okay. Rufina, I'm not sure, but Railway is excellent typeface. See, the reason why I'm saying excellent is not because of the aesthetics. It's because of the sweet spot this typeface are hitting. The reason being this has a well established cing. Well established leading and spacing tracking. And also there is something called tracking which we'll see that. Wait. Okay. And there is a well established graphics which this typh will play even if it's scaled big, even if it's scaled down. If you scale down times new room and type phase, you can't read anything. How many of you know this? It will look very ugly to look the readability and legibility is very, very poor. But if you shrink the Helica or railway or anything, you can still read the sentences. How many of you. How many of you are really wondering. This is called exactly functionality of the fonts. So a font should be having a nature to fight in all environment. Then and only that font will be celebrated and it will be used across many places or else the type is will die simple over the time people will forget that why Helvetica flourished over the time. It's exactly because of this reason. Because Helvetica has hit the sweet spot by having a proper, what you call kerning. Spacing as well as the weights can be varied easily. And I told you about the family of Helvetica. Numbers work magical. And typeface also works magical. Okay, okay, fine. So now everybody has chosen one typeface. I wanted you guys to use this keywords and form one story. Read this story. Can you connect these dots? Can you connect a story around it? Take a screenshot and keep it, please. Okay? For the typeface, whatever you've chosen, keep that separately. Second, create a story around these keywords. Okay? A simple story. India has won the cricket match. And the match went very seriously. And the match almost went like a race and. And then it started slowing down. And if you wanted to know the climax of the entire game, it became a royal finish for the Indian team. And everybody got the money and everybody owned a pit. You got it. I just tried to create one story around it, but you guys can create whatever you want. Okay? A simple story. Please understand. A simple story. And you need to choose that typeface, whatever you already have and represent and arrange it now. Okay, don't create linear arrangements. Try to create the arrangement based on the story. What you guys have? I needed a poster. Now similarly, what you guys did in the last exercise, I needed a simple poster. But this time don't put linear sentences. Try to play it creatively, try to rearrange it, try to resize it. Try to use the big, bigger Typeface, Try to use smaller one. Try to use cunning. Try to use leading. But the story should be conveyed in that poster. Can we do? Are you guys getting any story or stuck fast? Guys, come on. This needs to be done in ultra fast. Then only you'll do it. Or else you will take one hour. We don't have one hour. Now do smartly. Okay? You have many AI tools I've taught you guys and you also know it. Okay? Use very smartly. Not the image. That's not what I'm telling about. I'm telling about. You guys can play around it very very smartly. Okay? You can create a story. You can use chat GPT as well. You can bring that particular context into a poster in figma or canva or anything and try to rearrange. Use little what you call creativity around it and try to convey the same meaning in that story. Whatever you guys are building fast. Fast. It's a time bound activity. We can do it for one hour, not even one day. Also we can do. Okay, the story part is clear guys, for everybody. Are we guys able to build a story around it? Is everybody okay with that? Okay, good. What about you, Ramraj, what about you? Yes, good, good. Okay, guys. Always buy one mouse and try using system in a more. More faster way. If you guys wanted to become a visually strong designers, the first quality is you need to build. I mean you need to get a very good system and a workspace first. You move around your hands. Because it is very vital to do that. Many people, I'm saying they're not able. They're not able to even navigate in their workspace. Okay. You should use a very good mouse. You should use. If you want, you can use one keypad as well. Keyboard, you can get it from the logitech. All these brands are there. Okay. Because if you want visual software is really fast. It is much recommended to use not just a laptop keypad. You can use a normal keypad and the mouse. Your workflow will be very, very faster. Just dragging and dropping. Use the commands like alt tab to put the text here. You can use multiple shortcuts like to. To create this graphics so that your workflow will be really really faster. Right. The same poster, you have to create it in even 15 minutes. 10 minutes, 5 minutes as well. It. That's interesting. Okay, what about others? Only Ramraj in India Royal Race Ramraj used a little bit of creativity. This is. This looks only the IEO played a little creativity. I want to see some dynamism in your. See this Wordings are having some little dynamism, right? So why don't your typeface also has that? Can you try that? Copy, paste it, duplicate it. Try one more iteration. Fast, fast, fast. Before others create their first iteration. Ramraj, you create your second iteration. Story is good. Typeface choice is good. But strong meaning is not conveyed. Getting it. Try to convey strong meaning. Come on, come on. Come on. Play around. I told you about the dynamism of typeface. I told you about the spacing, leading, tracking. And also you can play around with the different tilting of the angles. You can also bring a new meaning around it. You can create a hierarchy. Same like what Punish did. Okay? Preferably if you want to use any background image, use it. Nobody's stopping you. Okay? But majorly I want arrangement in the typeface. That's my objective. Last three minutes. Quick seven, ten. We are closing this. Whatever you guys are getting, just drag and drop. That's all. Two minutes. Sorry. One and a half minutes. Yukta Sri Balaji. Sumana. Are you guys doing it? Infinity box. Shrajan. Akshita. Sameer. Punish. Aishwarya. Punish is doing. But what about others? Neeraja Shivraj. Because you guys are not switching on the camera. How do I know that you guys don't have doubts? I can see the body language. People who have doubts in the camera. Are you making second iteration? Good. Good. Do it. Ramraj is sitting in the beach. It creates me a different vibe here. But it is not recommended to keep this kind of a graphics in the interviews. Okay? Please keep static images. This will distract your audiences so the interviewers. Okay? And moreover it will. It will take your lot of stability in your Internet. You will have a lot of problem in bandwidth. Already your bandwidth is low. If you put graphics, it will become even more poor. Plain colors is enough. Because everybody will be attending interviews this month and next month. Please be mindful of these things. Yes. Time is up guys. Can everybody share your work in progress please? There is no further modification. Guys. We need to cover a little more topics. I need to close this. Okay? You know we are almost coming for the end of this whole hundred days booster session. Still I have to cover two more topics. Please do. Not now but please do complete it. Because colors, typeface, aesthetics, it all going to connect tomorrow as a final dot. And tomorrow is going to be a complete blast day. Okay? For that first you guys need to do something. And I'll give you one small assignment and activity also. I request you to do it. Can you share the work in progress? Just. Just please do it. Take a snapshot. Send it to me. Just put it in the zoom chat. That's it. I'll just look at it. Fast. Fast. India lizards are not pet. Wonderful. Here. Super. This is what I'm asking. But very minimal. Okay. Okay, fine. See, the biggest challenge is can you use all the keywords here? Can you create the complete story without even leaving one keyword and still create the meaning out of it? That is the real challenge. Yeah, this is good. Half challenge is done by Chitra. Like the. The lizard's color is different. The. The spacing is different. The type is. What you choose is also little bit resonating. Okay. But it can still be more. Try more. Try more. That's what Ramraj also. I said make one more iteration. Let's look at Punish Punish. Wonderful. Here how many of you can see Punish image? I really like it. I really, really like it. Okay. But it looks like the same style. See, you have to come out of that same style. Punish last image. Also you try to put one background image. You try to put this. But you could have used a dynamic typefaces, right? You could have used bigger typefaces, right? You can use arrangement. You can use resizing, right? You can use different things as well, right? So try it out. But I understand that you have the story built around it. You also choose the celebrity to. You're a big fan of Ajita. Okay. Good. Good, good. What about others? What about others? Ramraj. Hey guys. Everybody share the screenshot. We'll have to go for the next exercise. Okay. Perfection will later come. Don't worry. Okay. Hey Ramraj. Did you use AI image? No. You're out of the game. The short time I'm not getting that much. See, see. AI has produced one image. Maybe I can take an example of it. Okay. But please guys, understand. See, you can also do this, right? I'm just taking as a comparison. It's not Ramraj image. It is AI image. But look at the hierarchy. Look at the second hierarchy. Look at the third hierarchy. Fourth hierarchy. Look at the. Look at the fifth one. See, this is one way of hierarchy. Okay. This is the second hierarchy. This is third hierarchy. This is again a new hierarchy. Four. This is five. And also can you see one picture coming here. Who's stopping you not to put picture. You can put it. There is one icon here. Can you see this like a raised flag. There is some wheel picture here. There is some speed and dynamics. There is some spacing. There is some lettering. There is some kerning. There is a Huge things happening in this poster. Will I give more weightage to this or will I give more weightage to what Ramraj sent earlier? Tell me who this one. Yes. And which audience will grasp lot of meaning? Of course this one. The reason being you have given a lot of things to do. Yeah. You can still make it minimal. There is nothing right wrong here. But the stronger you are able to convey your meaning, the better it is for the audience. Okay, so that is actually will come once. If you are very comfortable choosing many typeface now you can do one more thing as well. You can try with multiple typefaces for the same paragraphs. You guys can try multiple typeface. You guys. Why are you guys not using sizes? I was very interested to see sizes. If you use very, very big types, like let's say posters full of big types and as well small one, the kind of contrast will come. It will look very, very visually appealing. As well as the meaning will be conveyed. Like let's say this is all about victory, right? You can put a very big V. Okay. You can also put victory in terms of an icon. And also you can still write victory inside it. But you guys can try it out. A lot of people have still not shared their screenshot. But yeah. So what you guys can do is you guys can think about this one. Okay? What is this here? Okay, okay, okay, okay, fine. Hold on. This is not the point. Hold on. Okay, somebody's mute is. Please be a little mute, guys. Thank you. Who is that? Okay, where is the. Yeah, totally forgot. Okay, fine. So I'm just sharing you the screen. Guys. Hold on. Yeah. Okay, so you guys have formed a story around it, right? But I've not seen any pet in your pictures. I've not seen any money in your pictures. I've not seen energy. I'm seeing India. I saw victory. I saw some car Royal. That's okay. But many of the keywords are missed. It is. It is little unethical for a designer to do that. You know why? The client will come and yell at you. Where is this keyword I given you? Where is this keyword? Tell me, tell me, tell me. Jaya. Wonderful. Here. I really like this improvement. J has almost put everything, every keyword. Can you see that? See, the code of honor is very clear. You have to use all the keywords in the name of minimalism. We should not cut down the context. Then client will get really angry at you. Because that is the very, very first thing. Being a designer. Your creativity comes inside that boundary. Not out of the boundary by. Inventing something new which is not required. Stay relevant here. Okay. Yes, Jain and yeah, yeah. Only one person has sent. Good, good. Fine. So now I wanted to ask you, have you guys known about Google Font? Tell me that you know about Google Font or not. How many of you have tried this Google Font? Okay, I'm just giving you a quick heads up. You can just click this link and you can go to the typeface of the Google Font guys. Okay, so here you can explore a lot of typefaces. You can explore whatever you want. Like let's say you can go and choose one. Like let's say Typhus, Whatever you want. Like let's say robot Roboto or maybe noto sans face or playwright. Like let's say you can use future. How many of you know Future is my favorite. Okay, Future is coming. I don't know, it's not coming. Okay, LV Tika, why some filters are there here? I don't know, it's not coming exactly, but ideally it will come. Some filter is there or what? Okay, so there are many type phase families which Google has defaultly given. But you guys can choose whichever is comfortable. But ideally speaking, it will come. Okay, I think they have not kept Helvetic on all these prominent fonts over there. But let's take this one. No, like let's say you said something like latto. Let's take this guy. Okay, click this. The beauty about this Google font is you guys can do type testing here. You guys can know whether it will work good for your paragraph or not. Can you see this thin? Can you see this thick? Can you see this light? Can you see this regular? This is how the regular latto will look like. Like let's say if you wanted to really do a lot of testing here, you guys can try it out here. Okay, this is how it look like. Oh, in italic it looks like. Okay, not that great. Okay, but in black it looks better. I can use it for my headings. I can use it for my subheadings. Hey, in the regular it looks really normal. Okay, here it looks even more better. See the 21 pixel and the 16 pixel. See, you can able to test it out guys and you guys will know whichever is really comfortably working for you. And the beauty about this is you can know more about this type is by going and clicking here. Can you see this type tester? You guys can increase the typeface and see what's happening. You guys can create an italic around it. Can you see here you can also choose the colors and see the color contrast also how it's working good. This is a beautiful tool. Guys. You guys can play around with this. Okay. And also you guys can go to glyphs. How many of you know this glyphs? It's not required to learn it now, but yeah, you can use many, many uppercase and lowercase and Latin characters using this. Particularly if you're building for some abroad clients where the. Where some variations is needed for you. You guys can try it out. Like let's see how the numbers will look like. Like, let's see how the Latin will look like. How the punctuations will look like in this type is it's more important to learn the numbers rather than the other parts. Okay. You guys can see. Okay. 6, 7 latter has a good numbering style as well. Unlike the other typist where the future doesn't have good numbering type is okay. And this is most important. Guys, can you see Some something here? 7.18 billion people Number of times Google fonts API served later over the last week. Oh my God. This is a very, very huge statistics. 7.18 billion times it's been used. That means people are predominantly using it later is featured in more than 20 million website. If you guys wanted to justify the reason why I have chosen this type is why it is more suitable for your website for your client. Whatever you guys are building, you need to write this time. Are you guys getting it? Latto means summer and Polish. What is Polish Juice culture. Let's say this what is called Poland. Okay. And it is a sans serif typeface family started in 2010. It's a very relatively new typeface. Okay. Originally conceived as a part of corporate identity for a large client. But family became available for the public release. I decided to go in a stylist direction. You can read about the typeface. You can go to the latter.com and find out who is the real inventor of it. And you can see the license as well. Okay. So please understand you can't copy a typeface. You can use this typeface whichever is available in your software. You understand, right? You can get the font. Google has got the reservation of the IP rights and everything for this font. You guys can download it and use it, but it doesn't mean all the types are like that. Apple has invented their own typeface. They wanted to use their own typeface in their websites. In other place. And you can find the disclaimer. You can read this. Everything is copyrighted, protected. Be careful about it. Okay? And you can also use something like icons. Google font is a very, very good tool, guys. You guys can use multiple things from it, okay? And if you look at this, you can also use this for your graphics and everything. But primarily it's used for type knowledge. If you guys wanted to know more about it, the technical terminologies, the leading tracking. Please go and read this. Web fonts. I really like this topic. Go and read about it. Very, very deep. I've also covered one YouTube video, seven part video for types. I would request you to go and read that because it is very, very important static, which is variable. Interesting topic. Little deeper topic. Guys. You need to go and, and, and what you call research. Little deeper around it, okay? History of Latin type. Okay, fine, that's okay. So read about it. Readability. We, we saw about the accessibility WCAG guidelines website. Half of the things are missing, okay? People have invented that. Okay? Can you guys see this? Can you guys see this? Introducing Mina God custom font Alphabet. Are you guys liking this typeface? Round edges, no sharp edges. This conveys a different emotion. This conveys a different meaning. Are you guys getting it? So now go back to the exercise. Whatever he gave me, read that sentences and think about how this can be really taught with respect to my context. What kind of a typeface should I choose? There's a typeface called. What is that? I forgot the name. Just give me a second. Give me a second, guys. Doesn't have that much of variety. Astra. How many of you know Astra? How many of you know Astra? Astra doesn't have sharp edges. Astra is a beautiful typeface, my favorite. Okay, but you'll have to know the context to use it. You should not use it for communicating a different professional meaning. Astra is little playful. Astra is little round edges. Okay? So Astra can be used to convey a different context of meaning. So the way in which you choose a typeface that reflects the meaning and the context for it and it totally changes. So now I'm going to be giving you a kind of activity guess. Okay? So now can you construct a poster please? Okay, can you construct a poster please? With respect to harmony, rhythm, entropy, using the colors. Also what you learned yesterday. And it has to be very, very creative. Okay, I'm going to be there in the call. Everybody has to construct the activity, okay? And then it needs to be completely focused for the next 10 minutes. The time is 7:31. I wanted you guys to completely focus. Open any canva or any tool. Just play around with the typist, bring the context, use that same keywords and create a poster for it. Poster. Poster. Don't just put sentences and send me create a poster for it. Okay. If you guys are doing it, then automatically you'll be getting a clarity around. Okay. Are we guys getting it? Are we guys getting it? So before that I wanted to quickly show you one more thing as well. Guys, quickly. Quickly. Very, very quick. Okay. Before that you can also do one more thing. Okay, you guys can try it. Guys, I'm just giving you an option. You can collaborate in your teamwork. Everybody is a part of team, right? Like let's say Ramraj Dial. Everybody is a part of team. Collaborate your teamwork in terms of colors and emotion associated with it. Can you do. Can you guys do the same poster activity by communicating it to your team? Whoever is not in this particular caller, whoever is also there, try to collaborate as a team activity and create a very good emotion and the colors out of it. The same meaning. Or maybe you guys can take your own context also in your project. Whatever you have, create one visual identity or a poster for your project. If I see like let's say Ramraj is having money management problem. If I see that one poster, I should understand Ramraj project. What he's doing for the last two weeks. I should not ask much questions. I should not. I should not ask, hey Ramraj, what is. What are you doing in money management? Hey, how long are you doing it? Hey Ramraj, what did you exactly solve in the money management? Hey, who is your user? I should not ask anything. Can you try who's there in the Ramraj team? Chitra, Ramraj. And who's the other person? Dial is a different team. Dial is from Shashank team, right? So can you guys try it out as a team activity? Okay, so now what. What you have to do is you have to take your project. You have to think about the colors, the emotion, the typeface, what you can create a poster around it. Okay, I just need one poster. Don't create 10 posters. If you want you can create. But I just need the final one poster. The effort should be all put together. Okay? You guys can have variations among your teammates. Everybody can create one one concept and. And discuss. But finally I need. I just need one poster. And that should reflect your typeface quality. That should reflect your colors. That should reflect your harmony. That should reflect your learnings. What you had in the aesthetics. And that aesthetics poster should reflect your personality and your team's projects as well. It should not be off track. Because I'll be asking you a Lot of questions in that poster. You have to justify me. I will ask you. Why did you use Latto? Why did you use Montserrat? Why did you use this typeface? What is the context between the money management and this particular type is? Tell me the meaning. What is the kerning you used? I will ask a lot of questions in that. Okay, fine. Is it clear for you guys? And then you guys can work. You must work with your team in order to choose some color palettes, emotion, use some kind of methods, whatever you want. You guys can build some design system around it. But. But already you guys are ideating, right? So why don't you make the idea perfectly implemented and try to create one poster of it. I have to understand your solution through that poster. Can we try that? Okay, so now before we end this call this activity, you guys do it after this quiz. Okay? And I'm sure you will be able to do it really fast. But first of all, let's understand and recap certain things what we learned. Okay? Can we play this quiz? Can you guys type out the right answers for me? Yes. Guys. Which design principle is focused on creating a sense of equilibrium and stability in composition? Can you guys tell me first? Option A, B, C, D. Can you guys tell me. Let's recap. Know what we learned in the last one week? Okay. CB hey. What? What is this? Guys, everybody's read the question properly. Which design principle is focused on creating a sense of equilibrium and stability in the composition? Of course, balance. Right? Emphasis has a different meaning. A lot of people are typing A. I don't know why. Okay, what are the next question? What happens when you mix red and blue in the subtractive color model? What happens when you. When you mix red and blue? First of all, you tell me. RB if you mix, what will happen? Tell me the color first. Okay. Subtractive color model means what? You'll have to remove little whites or blacks around it and what you will get. Purple. Perfect. Who answered purple? Shivraj, your color understanding is better. Guys, are you getting it? I want a little fast answers. Only one people is. Only two people have typed out the answer. What about others? It's okay, guys. Try it out. Even if it's wrong, it's okay. Okay, try it out. Can we go for the next question? Everybody will answer below. Just recollect. See, I used to play this quiz a lot of time. Guys. Okay, but what happens is that because of the time constraint we were not able to do it. But yeah. So subtractive color model. Imagine paints, inks, dyes. This model works by subtracting colors from the white light. I explained you right? Each, every. Each pigment observes certain wavelengths of light reflected others reflecting others that reach our eyes. That's called subtractive model. If you guys wanted to know more about it, you can definitely go and read about it. But this is a basic context around it. Yesterday I talked about primary color. I mean primary colors, secondary colors, tertiary colors. They arise from mixing a primary and a secondary color. I think a little bit told about tertiary as well yesterday. Right? If you can able to see this like let's say these three colors. Yellow, red, blue, primary, secondary, orange, violet, green, tertiary we can see the intermediate. So this is exactly color wheel what we did. Hey, many of you missed the color wheel yesterday. Ramraj, Dial, were you there? Dial was there. Dial was there. We all played the color wheel. It was very interesting. We arranged the people in the this zoom immersive mode and then we've tried to play circles around it. Okay. So you guys can keep it as a reference and think about it. Looking at the color wheel. Red, blue sit directly opposite to each other. This makes them complementary colors. When you mix two complementary colors like red and blue, the pigments observe the broad spectrum of light wavelengths. Leaving only the wavelengths common to both. They shared wavelengths to combine to create a perception of new color purple. This is a little explanation of the last question what we have. Okay. Just a heading. You guys can go a little deeper and understand how we can play around with this. In order to choose some colors for your type ph for your type phase as well. Okay. Little different. Okay, now let's go to some type face related questions. Ready? Let me see who is answering this fast. I'm going to be giving you 25 points more against your name right away. Who's having the right answers? Let's see whether Aishwarya, which term refers to the vertical space between lines of the text in the typeface only one person is answering. What about others? Leading. Yeah. What leading? Nobody has answered. Okay. Only Balaji. Okay. Chitra Gokul is second biology. Only I can give points. Whoever comes first in the chat box. Okay. Were you there in the first part of the session? I think you are not there. That's okay. Patiently learn and go back to the YouTube live and watch. You will get it. Ramraj, now you're typing B. Okay. Coming out of the coma stage after a lot of okay. Leading this example of it. Okay. Clear? Are we clear about the concept? Very simple. Okay, let's go for the next one. This is the eye catching heading. Whose eye catching heading? Why did I put this? I totally forgot. Okay. Okay. Okay. Can you guys see negative leading here? Can you see guys negative leading here? It's going and dashing the other line. It's exactly. Poor set. Solid. This is one good way to do open letting. You guys are creating a little. What Chitra created is a two open ling. Many times it also has a significance. But you should know where to use it. You can't use it for everywhere. That's not correct, right? You should know when to keep the positive negative open letting as well as two open letting. Two open letting will convey a different different meaning around it. Okay. Got it. Yes. Let's pay the fourth question. Are we guys ready? Which principle involves the use of varying visual elements to create interest and focus in the design? Little difficult question. Who is typing out guys randomly? You guys are typing. Let's say. Let's. Let's get some points. Random. Abcd. Which principle involves the use of varying visual elements to create interest and focus in a design? Variety, not hierarchy. Who typed C? Nobody has typed C. Okay. Interest and focus. Focus. You don't have to always say hierarchy, right? If you have many classifications. If you need to focus on something first, second, third the order. We will talk about hierarchy a lot. Rhythm is totally out of context here. Okay. Unity is not the context here. Because they already said create interest around it, right? So that means varying interest in varying visual elements means the answer is variety only, right? That's why deliberately kept the option. Because three terminologies. You guys will know this term. You will miss it. That's why we kept it. Hey Ram. Now you're typing C minus 25 PER for you. After giving the answers you are giving C. Okay. Complimentary colors are located. Okay. Ah. Look at this answer. Guys. Tell me. Complimentary colors are located. A, B, C. Ready? Very simple. Guys, please. Next to each other on the color wheel. Across each. I'm not going to give any points. A very simple. Okay. Aishwarya. Okay fine. Let's give Aishwarya points. Who is first? Shivaraj. Right. First point. Shivraj and Aishwarya. I need to add 25 points. Okay. Which term is used to describe the horizontal space between two adjacent characters in types tracking? How Come here. Oh no. No, no, no. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. A horizontal spacing between two adjacent characters in the type face. Hey. Sorry guys. My bad. My bad. My bad. My bad. Cunning. Right? Am I right or not? Tell me. Something has shifted here. I don't Know why? Can somebody correct it? I don't know why the graphics has came. Hey, no, guys. It's not cunning. Horizontal space between two adjacent characters. See, horizontal trace between two adjacent characters in the typeface. Like let's say we talked about tracking for the entire word, not for just one character. Kerning refers to one character. You guys made me confused as well. Okay. Between the little characters, it's cunning. See, you can have a. Like. Let's say the word can be typography. Okay. You can increase the type space between T and Y. Are you guys getting it? You can increase that. But if you exactly increase the word between type like entire typography, that is a different meaning. You need to get the context. I'll go back. Wait, you guys are confusing me. Okay. Okay, fine. Yes. Good. Tracking. Can you guys see the visual meaning of it? Tracking. Tracking increased. Tracking decreased. Are we clear about it? Okay, sorry. Okay, I'm sorry. Keypad mode. Okay. Which principle involves the use of similar visual elements to create a cohesive and organized design? Some people have seen it. It's okay. Try it out. Okay, it's. It's a. It's a little confusing question. But you can try visual elements to create cohesive and organized design. Similar visual elements. Read the word carefully. The question is little tricky. Which principle involves the use of similar visual elements to create a cohesive and organized design? Are you guys typing out? I'm not seeing anything. Okay, one second. Okay. D. Okay. Ramraj is saying C is the right answer. Yes, they are perfect. The meaning itself is directly conveying is nothing. Nothing difficult here. You may get confused between emphasis, but repetition is actual thing. Okay. Color theory. When you add white to a color, what is this called? Come on. Come on. Tint. I think we saw it very, very recently. Somebody has answered. Yay. Who's. Who's that? Who's that? Yay. Last question. Good, good, good. Okay. Which type of font has a small lines at the end of the characters creating decorative details? Tell me, tell me, tell me. Just now we saw a hoverback. Go ahead, go ahead, go ahead. Excellent. Excellent. Okay, the. The typeface has moved. Guys. Mean the. The box has moved because of the graphics. Answer is serif. Thank you. Okay. This is a serif. Times New Roman Helvetica. Helvetica is a sans serif. Helvetica is not serif. Are we clear about the concepts? Now nobody's getting confused. Fine. Design pr. Which principle? Focus on arrangement relationship of the elements within a design. I'm giving you 50 points, guys. Whoever is answering this question five Z only one atom do you guys get? Okay, which principle? Focus on the arrangement and relationship of the elements within a design. Okay. Shivra just typed alignment. Who else? Hierarchy. Who is B. Sri Balaji? You are getting 75 points there. Already you got 25. Excellent. Hey, did you answer correctly by understanding Steve Balaji? Tell me. Open your mic. Yes, sir. Justify your answer please. Come on, sir. I don't know how to explain better. That's okay. You explain in your own words. See, you need to understand the meaning, right? That's the quiz is fine. Points is fine. But you need to get the meaning. Tell me why? Why did you say hierarchy? Why not alignment? Because many people get confused between alignment and hierarchy. Of course this is a little tricky question. See the moment when you talk about within a design. Understand this word. Within a design, you compare one to other. You understand, right? Hierarchy comes with comparing one to other. Big, small, large, small, big. Like let's say this is the first, this is the second. This is the first. Like you compare something, right? That's why it's called hierarchy. You need to understand this. But anyway Balaji, you try to answer but you're not able to do it. Okay guys, fine. So now let's come to the end of this session. But the activity is very clear. You guys need to create a poster. Okay? With respect to the colors, the emotion, the typeface, you can choose. And also rhythm, harmony, entropy and whatever is the emotion. What you guys are trying to create. Bring that. And also it should have some relevance for your project. I would say you guys can take your projects also. No problem. Leave this keywords also. Maybe you guys are working on a project, right? Try to create one attractive visual guys poster as a team. And just send it to me. If you want. You guys can also upload it in two, three snapshots in the proof also I will give you more weightage. No problem. I'll give you extra additional hundred points for that. Thousand hundred. You guys will get it. But let me see whoever is doing really a good work. Fine. Have a great weekend guys. Spend time with your family. All the best. Any other doubts? Any of the doubts? Did you guys enjoy this typeface learning? You have learned nothing. You just started learning definitions of typeface. Typeface is a very very deep subject. One year it takes to become master of this typeface. I told you, typeface is life face. It's a part of editorial design skill. All this aesthetics. In fact Shivaj also asked a question. Jagdish. How will I become A good in aesthetics. Shivraj, first go and learn this basic. Shivaj, the first thing, what you have to master is visual elements. Lines, circles. Shivrajari. Here in the call. Lines, shapes, circles, square, grid. Okay, go back and watch the previous YouTube live. That's your step. One second. You can play around with sketching around the basic elements. What you guys are constructing. Then you come to rhythm, entropy, harmony. Then you come to colors and typefaces. Then you start constructing some visual posters around it. It will all connect the dots for you. Don't try to create the poster. From the day one. You will get utter confusion. You will constrict. But it will look like Nanga Beta. How many of you know Nanga? But I told you about this, right? Nb. Type NB in the chat box. You. Your posters and visuals will look exactly like that. And there is no relevance. There is no meaning. There is no context. It will look exactly like a bear. What do you call Nothing. There is no meaning around it, right? Many portfolios I'm seeing. Because of that reason only many people are typing. Nb. Okay. If you guys wanted to dress up your beta and you wanted to create a beautiful visual surrounded, please understand these basics. The lines, the circles, the shapes, the rhythm, harmony, typeface, colors. Today you've added a little flavor around it. Yesterday you've added colors around it. See guys. Then automatically you'll see a cohesion coming. The beautiful harmony and rhythm will only come when you mix all these things. Beautiful. Many people are very safe around it. They'll put only one line. You interpret the meaning around it. That's. That's called. How do I say in English? Covert. No. Go out. You have to be bold enough to splash your colors and typeface. Guys, that's what is called actually what you call playing around with the visual sense. Right? So Shivraj, what I would say is after learning this basics, play around with creating lot of posters and send it to me in WhatsApp. Send at least 5 to 10 posters in just one hour for the same meaning. Like let's say Ramraj created one poster, right? Iteration 2. How do I create it really faster. Iteration 3. How do I create it in 10 minutes iteration? For how do I create it in 5 minutes iteration? How do I create it in 3 minutes? 2 minutes? 1 minute. Your first poster and the last poster will be much different. We do it in a speed sketching activity. We used to take particularly like. Like this particular image. And then we used to do sketching for half an hour. We used to Drop perspective diagram for this. Okay. After that we will take another. We will take the same product, but we'll take a new sheet. And then we'll try to sketch it in 15 minutes. Half of the time you guys will be much faster because you know the lines, you know the proposition, everything is fixed in your mind. Next we'll try to sketch it in five minutes. Next will present in two minutes. One minute thirty seconds. This is an amazing activity. You guys will be becoming more proficient in usage of the lines, blocks, circles and automatically visual sense will grow. These are all like motor skills and activities, cognitive activities. Of course we can do it very, very lengthy, guys. But when I will tell you guys, see we can go very deep into this topic. After you get your first job. Are we guys into it? You get your first job, you get your survival done. Please, you get into the industry first because it becomes totally irrelevant when you learn all these things. That becomes one more school in college. Don't, don't be very hyperactive to learn this. You guys can get the understanding of design process, solve some big industry problem. Whatever you guys are choosing, get into the industry first. Get at least some 610 LPA first. Basically, okay, get that clarity first. Then we can go very deep into it and research, research, research. Then you will also learn and enjoy the subjects. It's not required in the premature stages. That is what is a, that is what is a strong advice I'm giving for all the people. Particularly freshers will be like, I need to learn 100 skills. You will get, you will get off track, guys. You will get into a big problem. Okay? That is why goals, codex is very important for you guys to stay in track, get the result. Then you go deep. Then you tell me. Yesterday I was talking to one girl, she said I wanted to go into game design industry. Very, very specific. See from the day when she was very clear, it's okay, fine. If that kind of a clarity is there and then you get a job into it, then I will teach you some more interesting topics which you will never, never forget. I will go very deep into editorial design. Three days, I will teach editorial design. Whatever we are seeing in this last two, three days is a part of editorial design. Typeface, colors, graphics. And I'll teach you how we can construct pages, how we can construct portfolio, how you can construct elements, how you can have a visual war. How many of you know this? You have to know how to play the visual war. Like let's say if your client is giving a lot of images, lot of text. He's asking you to put it. You should know how to fight that war and bring the best out of it. That's called visual war. Okay. But to do the visual war you should be prepared with all these basic concepts. Then you can construct that. Then you guys can become an excellent editor in portfolio. That's mostly of an editorial design skill. Okay. But that will come little later. Don't. Don't try to learn it now. It will become confusing. You will waste your time. Okay. Game design please. I'm also. Yes. Yes. Ram Raj. I Senior codex. Excellent. But first get into some industry first. I would recommend you to do that. I know your case. I know your current requirement. Get into an industry. That's why I'm not talking much about specific for you. Because you are not in that category. So spread your targeting of industry a little wider. Same goes for Shivaj and other new people as well. I don't know. Okay. And then you can go niche and then you can go into specific. Specific. Specific. Then you tell me. Jagdish, I wanted to go very deep into typeface. I will give you one book. Read that. I'll give you activities. Do that. I'll ask you to do an experimentation. You know how to invent a typeface. How many of you are interested to invent a typeface? It's a very, very interesting topic. One of my friend, he's from Kerala. He invented a type. Actually he's a Kerala Malayali guy. I'll try to bring that guy into this session. Okay. He's super busy. His name is Atul. If I share his portfolio, you guys will fall down. Amazing. Amazing visuals he got. He's a illustrator. Actually he's an illustrator. He's a graphic designer by profession. Okay. So this guy has invented one type. You know how much time it took? Six months it took for him to invent a typeface. I will bring him in call one day. He's super busy. Actually had to bring him. I had to talk to him first. And. And what you call. He will not talk very leniently and everything. He'll talk only one. One word. But he will show many visuals. If you guys will see his portfolio for 10 seconds you will give everything to him. That kind of attractive nature he has. That kind of originality and novelty he has. And his. His portfolio and everything. I'll send you later. Okay. But then you guys will compare and keep this as a benchmark. Jagdish, you teach me how to reach this level. That's a. That's A. That's a unrealistic expectation. That's what I don't share any portfolios. Even my portfolio I don't share with people unless it is required. Because people start comparing that. Okay. So you guys will continue these things later. But for now this is more than sufficient. Implement these things and create a poster and create multiple iterations around it. Even for Shivraj, I'm saying the same. Slowly you can become a master of it little later. Okay, fine guys. And I'm closing this with a caution. Because you need to know how to play this bounty Tomorrow and day after. It's going to be really amazing session guys. You guys will learn something extraordinary connect of the final aesthetic dot. Okay. And we're going to learn an additional skill also. So please don't miss tomorrow's class and Tuesday's class. I wish you all the best. Tell your team members also to get aligned with tomorrow and day after tomorrow class. Okay? Any other doubts? Have a great day. Have a. Have a great weekend. See you tomorrow morning, guys. Bye. Bye. Happy weekend. Happy weekend. Happy weekend. For me the week is beginning. I'm having a webinar at 10 o'. Clock. Okay. Bye. Bye. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Bye. Mark your attendance and leave everybody. I'm keeping the call open. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you.
