Ep 318 | Feedback is Nervous system for the UIUX designer

Feedback is how interfaces talk to users. When they stay silent, people leave. Jagadeesh P breaks down a three-step system: respond in 100 milliseconds, match the user's emotion with clear messaging, and layer visual, haptic, and textual cues so they actually feel heard.
Questions this video answers
83% ("83 percentage of the users abandoned a digital product after three bad interactions")
~100 milliseconds ("micro animation which should happen exactly in hundred milliseconds")
318th episode
100 days challenge and 100 skills
Four hours ("four hours Design Verse workshop")
Did you know that 83 percentage of the users abandoned a digital product after three bad interactions in most cases? First of all, it's not even the ui, it's a lack of feedback. They click it, nothing happens. And automatically people get a panic and they really think whether the app is working or not in one moment. Guys, people kill the trust. Designers really obsess over lot of color palettes and gradients and interactions and graphics. But simply they forget how to create an interface which can talk and give the feedback. When your design stays silent, user gets into a bigger problem which is exactly what is there as an important system inside our body, which is called a nervous system. Right? So for design, feedback is a nervous system. It creates exactly the connection between your user or else your user gets confusion, he gets into lower confidence, he sends up, he ends up not using your product at all. In this podcast I'm going to be telling you how you can use the three step method to understand how to how to create a very simple feedback system in your UI so that your user is going to love this product. Okay, I'm recording this podcast after a long time. Guys, thank you so much for listening to this. And it's been 318th episode. I guess I'm very happy to also tell you that I've been doing phenomenal work in the YouTube for 100 days. 100 days of challenge and 100 skills I've been teaching. And I'm in. And now I'm thinking to go in podcast as well because I can able to add more value to the audience. Whoever is traveling in the traffic or maybe they are going somewhere else in the places they would not able to watch the video. So podcast has been a very big methodology for learning. In fact, when I was working in corporate, I used to exactly do that to save a lot of time and effort. Okay, super. So thank you so much. And if you are listening to this podcast, please do subscribe it in the Apple and Spotify. Spotify. To get more of that, we are discussing today a topic called feedback which is one of the very important thing. Okay, first framework which I have to tell you how we can improve this is show reaction fast like let's say each and every click a user deserves a sound like let's say a speed, a spinner, a subtle motion like let's say a small micro animation which should happen exactly in hundred milliseconds. And this has to exactly match with the motion what they're having. This is a step one. Show reactions really fast and give it in the form of hover glass or graphics or dots or colors or speed or maybe any kind of a sound or vibration or micro animation. You need to show that, okay. The second you need to exactly match the emotion what the user is expecting to the visual feedback. What you're giving now, it's not about a tangible element. This is an intangible element. See guys? Success feels little calm. But error needs more clarity. A lot of you clear when you make a payment, when everything goes right, when you're done with all of the need whatever you're having for your app, nobody cares. No user really takes care much. But imagine if a payment failure happens. Imagine you sent 1 lakh rupees or maybe $10,000 and a error happens. Definitely you needed the reason. What exactly happened? Why the money has stopped. Where exactly is the money? When will you get the refund? The other person gets the measure. What you call the measure or not, or even if it's because of your payment failure issue for your OTP wrong or probably your balance is missing. You need a clear progress which makes the user helpful and make it hopeful, not get froze. So the second important framework is match the emotion of the user. The third which is design feedback layers. See, ultimately you need to build multiple layers of feedback for the user. You have to combine visuals or colors or animation or touch or haptic or text cues. Because the human brain is trained to have a multi sensory confirmation. You can first have a basic vibration level feedback. Then you can have something like a pop up, then you can have something like a haptic, then you can have text. So whatever is layer you wanted to create for your user, for your Persona, for your specific audience, who is having the accessibility and inclusivity guideline and everything you designed that layer to be given. Superb. Let me repeat it. If you wanted to make the user get the feedback properly for your product, this has been very useful for the user to get a feedback for how he's using the product, UI or whatever web. Even a physical or additional product. People need the feedback. Why? It is very important. It's exactly important. Like the nervous system of our body to communicate what is happening. Even if you feel bad, your stomach has to give a feedback that your stomach is feeling bad. You need to go and maybe take some medicine or maybe you have to go and take some kind of like let's say treatment, right? If that feedback is not coming, will you do anything? You will just be sitting and watch the thing happens and then you will get a. What you call another bigger problem. If the feedback is not coming on the starting stage. Something like that. Your user should also get the feedback and that's what we have discussed in this podcast and I've given you the three step framework. The first is show reaction fast. The second is match the emotion. The third is designing a feedback and the layers. Your product doesn't need to be very very loud guys. It has to be responding faster. Audit your main application today and make sure everything is acknowledged and the user has been hurt. And DM me loop on the Instagram or podcast or YouTube. Wherever you're listening, I'll send you the feedback Design Checklist because in design silence is not elegant. It's exactly the broken communication and also there is a workshop link below given to attend my four hours Design Verse workshop where I'll give you a complete six step blueprint how you can put this learning into a proper portfolio and make a proper portfolio and to start applying for the 3x job. And some of our students have applied the simple methodologies and design to attain and crack some of the most difficult interviews. They have got 2x3x salary jump and more importantly, people who are coming from a visual design background have successfully transitioned into design people are coming from a coding background, engineering background, career transition People have learned this method simply and they've applied it in their portfolio in the interview process to get the job. If you also wanted to take your learning, attend my workshop and you will come to know how we can become a part of our community as well. Thank you so much guys. I'll see you in the other episode. Bye bye.
