A Real Look Into a Fly Infestation Treatment | The Local Guys Pest Control

Transcript of a pest-control service visit (YouTube) where technicians (Reet and a colleague) inspect a homeowner's fly problem. They suspect fly breeding linked to rodent/possum activity or moisture in the roof void or subfloor, recommend roof-void dusting, interior spraying of skirtings and perimeter, placement of rodent stations (about three), and advise the client to vacate during spraying; they also mention invoicing and a three-month warranty.

There's some down here as well. And another window near the kitchen. We get a few some in the bedroom. So I don't know where they come from.
Have you had rodent issues at all?
No, not that I know of. Or seen or smell or anything.
Yeah. Okay.
Yeah, I can't really put my finger on it.
Yeah. Okay. And mainly, like around the windows.
Yeah, yeah. Most of. Like, see there's a few on the floor here.
Yeah.
I've noticed them on the windows. I thought at the start or maybe there's a few trapped in here and then.
Yeah.
Get rid of them and then they.
Just keep coming and keep coming, keep coming. We got vents around the outside.
This one do?
Yeah.
So we can do dusting. Yep.
That's going to be. My guess is it's coming from before. Yeah, probably. I probably recommend have a look in the roof as well, just in case. Yeah. Have you had any plumbing issues at all? No, no. Really?
Not major.
You reckon they don't get in and then lay eggs and then they get stuck in it?
Yeah, possibly. Typically what we find is they come from dead animals, so rodents or mice or possums, that type of thing.
Yeah, yeah.
But it can be noticed.
There are sea possums running around at the front on the wires.
Yeah.
So they're definitely around here, but yeah.
Okay.
Nothing I've smelled or noticed.
Yeah. Right. So, yeah, I think the best thing to do is have a look in the roof to see if you can find any rodent activity. At least that way you'll know that that could be leading to the actual fly problem itself. Occasionally you'll get like houses with subfloors, they might have plumbing and pipework running underneath the house.
Okay.
And if they got a broken pipe, that can create moisture. Okay. Then moisture can be the perfect breeding grounds for them as well.
What do we recommend? Like I go on the roof and see if there's any activity. And all the dusting.
Dusting. Definitely nothing in the roof. Roof void and the subfloor.
Which chemical would it happen now that we have to spray on the inside instead of clear? I guess. Yeah.
So we're going to use the other one, correct?
Yeah.
I wouldn't worry about outside. So the problem is going to be located within the house itself.
Okay.
So spraying the outside is not going to be. Not going to fix anything.
Okay.
And the client hasn't reported of any problems on the outside of the house anyway.
So do you want me to spray skirtings?
Those just to the window?
Yeah.
Yep. So the skirtings and the, the perimeter, the perimeter of the ceiling.
Ceiling, yeah. And windows.
I wouldn't worry about the windows. And if there's any gaps, you could get your hand buffer and get some dust in there.
Okay.
Around the window seals itself. Because although it is brick wall, there will be some sort of cavity there.
Okay.
Not a major one, but you know, there's holes in the bricks, there will be some sort of cavity. Okay.
Basically skirtings, because that's where they view vacuum coming from, either from the ceiling or from there. Yeah.
But yeah, have a investigation, see if you find any rodent activity, at least that way you know that that's probably. You might even find a dead rodent up there. If you find the dead rodent, remove it. Half a problem, get your stuff to investigate.
Yep. Sherlock Holmes diamond.
So Reet, what's the secret of getting all your leads to be jobs for you?
Just call them as soon as possible, man, whenever you get the lead. If you're doing something you think is important, I would suggest call them first, then start doing whatever you're doing. So chances are if you get them as soon as possible, your conversion rate will be 90 plus.
Yeah.
And secondly, you're pricing, man, just given a good price. Another trick which I use, I put the gloves on this side and put a cable tie. So what that does is sometime when you put it against the wall, then there's no marks on the wall.
What are you going to do?
I can ask him if you want me to put some station up there as well.
Yeah, you can definitely grab stuff.
Yeah, go for it. Otherwise, dusting, dusting roof, all the vehicles. There is no smell. Do you still prefer dust in the roof?
Yeah, I'd still be doing it. Is there evidence of.
Yes.
So it's still dust though.
Okay.
The worst thing that you can do is go, this is what I'm going to do. And then that doesn't fix the problem. Just because you decided not to do.
One little part, then you're going to.
Look like you didn't know what you were talking about.
Okay.
All right. So might as well give them the full protection.
Yep.
So dusting and dusting. Spraying inside and bit of proper dusting.
In the window frames, right? Yep. And with the secluder, do you allow people to stay inside?
No, no, no, never.
So there is some. Not much, but some activity in the roof space for the road and some droppings.
Yeah.
So I would still do the dusting in the roof space. I will dust all the V poles around the property. Yeah. And I will Spray all the skirtings and the ceiling skirtings. You okay with that?
Yeah.
So will you be able to stay out of the house for one hour?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I plan to be out of here anyway once you go. Okay.
So.
Yeah.
And do you want me to do something about the rodent in the roof space?
Well, I suppose if you. If you think it's worth worthwhile.
What do you think? It's entirely. But I would strongly suggest it while we have the activity.
Yeah, but happy to do that.
Sure. No worries. Thank you.
So how long do you think.
Let me. You can still stay inside. Let me do the dusting. Roof dusting. Then I'll put stations.
Yeah.
When I need to the spray, then I'll let you know. Then you can stay outside. All right. Thank you. No worries.
So walk us through what just happened back there.
So we came here for the flies treatment and then we figure out that there's some rodent activity in the roof space. So that could be the reason if there's any dead animal which brings the flies. Whenever you go for jobs, always look in the roof space. If you can see any activity, you can advise the client and you can upscale it.
So how many. How many stations are we putting in?
I'll put three around the property. Looks good. And we can. Advertisement. You have your own brand. And I will put maybe three or four cardboard. One in the roof space. Let's say that just.
Wow. Professional.
Yeah. Thanks to Sean. Sean, I have noticed these black station. Yes. They don't really work well in the roof space because I went back again. Yeah. And it happened within three or four times. No hit at all. But outside the property they were all gone.
Yeah.
Okay. So do you. Is there any way we can get any. Like.
So we. We're talking about rats.
Rats. Yes.
So you got to remember that in a. In a area that rodents are like a confined area, like a roof void, they are very apprehensive when it comes to new items within their surroundings. So they stay away from them for. They can stay away from. For a week or two at times before they investigate.
Okay. But that was. Maybe I went back after four months. Yeah.
Okay. And then there's definitely activity in the roof.
Yeah, plenty.
So then maybe it was about. And using the same bait inside outside. Yeah.
Ultra was all gone. Like all.
So maybe they're just using the roof void just for shelter and not they're feeding grounds and they're getting enough food on the outside of the property. But also remember, if there are possums in the Roof, then rodents are staying away. Just because they were in there previously doesn't mean that they're still in there. And then when the possums move out, the rats move back in. So they don't typically live together.
All right.
Very common for somebody that's had possums to get rid of the possums and then have a rat issue afterwards.
Afterwards. Okay.
It.
The only thing is that particular chemical which is going to help us. It's. Sometimes it does have some stains.
Okay.
But you can definitely wipe it later on. You okay with that?
Yeah, that's right. So they'll be on the roof here?
No, because I'll. I will spray them on the corner. On the skirting.
Yeah, yeah.
Same the bottom. Sometimes that does leave some stains. So I thought I'll let you know. So you okay with that, right? That's okay. Yeah, yeah. You can wipe them maybe after a month. Yeah. Once it has done its job.
Yeah.
Yeah. All right.
Just in case. Well, most probably you might not even see it everywhere because it's white. Sometimes on some other colors it's more visible than too white. Yeah, yeah, no worries. When you're looking for spots to put.
Rodent stations, what are you looking out for?
Oh, mostly they try to run next to the wall. So if you don't find any droppings, ideally you look for the droppings without any signs. Just put it there. But a scenario in this because there was more dropping in the roof space. Not much so much outside. But I look for like in the neighbor lot of tree. So try to put it close to the fence where they can get through it. So that's ideally the best place. I will start from. You're gonna finish it? I will start the other rooms first.
All right.
Thank you.
All.
It. That's.
All done, sir. Beautiful. It's okay if I leave my card in the fridge?
Yeah, yeah.
Just in case. If you need ever, I will send you the invoice end of the day.
Yeah.
And you have three months warranty for the next three months. If you see anything, just give me a call.
All right.
That's it.
All right. And if you have any question, just give me a call in time.
Thanks very much.
No worries. Thanks for understanding to filming us. No worries. See ya.
