Short YouTube clip (by Jarrad Goulding) in which two speakers discuss the common myth that ants cannot fly. Speaker B explains that ants do fly — specifically the winged reproductive ants called 'alates' — which fly during humid parts of the year to mate and establish new colonies. The exchange is brief and informal.

Alates.

During the humid parts of the year.

Sean, I hear this myth. Well, I believe it as well. Ants, they can't fly, right?
Ants can definitely fly, Harvey. All ant colonies fly. So at certain times of the year, ants will fly to go to create new colonies. So these ants are called alites. They're the only ants that have wings. They'll fly to find a mate and start new colonies elsewhere. They do this during the humid parts of the year.
Well, I never knew that. So I've got to worry about flying ants now.
Flying ants, yeah, definitely flying ants. And termites, same thing.
