Behind the Scenes of Test and Tag In-Field Training | Coaching our NEWEST Franchise Partners

This is a transcript excerpt from a YouTube video ('Behind the Scenes of Test and Tag In-Field Training | Coaching our NEWEST Franchise Partners') showcasing in-person training for a test-and-tag franchise. Speakers include Reggie, Nirmal Deep, and trainer Patrick. Key themes in this chunk: participants’ motivations (independence, flexibility, family business), positive impressions of the training environment (supportive, informative), practical tips for on-the-job efficiency (using a trolley, testing equipment repeatedly at home), and hands-on coaching about testing appliances and reporting. The tone is encouraging and practical, with emphasis on learning-by-doing and building a family-run franchise.

Chapters
It's just an environment of we got you, we'll get you through it. What were you looking for?
Independence, A bit of flexibility. Take care of my family.
This is going to be a family business in the future. Alright Reggie, describe training in one word. Informational. Exciting. Inspirational.
Informational. Good. Giant. Just do it. Just get into the water. You will definitely swim across.
Training's going well. Jared's explaining everything well.
How's training so far?
It's very nice, very interesting, a lot of information, getting ready to go practical.
What surprised you the most about training?
How professional everybody is about it. You can go to anyone in this office and ask a question, they'll know pretty much the answer to everything.
Hi, my name is Nirmal Deep. I'm doing testing and tagging. I'm from Victoria Melton.
I'm Reggie. I'm a part of the local guys test and tag. I'll be operating in Grammon East.
I'm an electrical engineer from an education perspective but went into it, 25 years of it and then I think I'm getting old for it. New kids are coming in so thought I'd start my own.
I was just a student before studying, trying to get my hand into engineering and such and really didn't sit well with me. I'm a jack of all trades and we had a look at different avenues that we can go down and handed up on local. The local guys testing tag and said that's it, that's the one we want.
What were you looking for with the change?
Independence from the day to day work day to day. Monday like nine to five. Definitely not nine to five. We work more than nine to five but you're tied up five days. But this thing gives me a bit of flexibility.
Take care of my family, my generation or our generation. It's really set up for failure in a lot of senses. Property prices on all this and that. And I just went to dad, said hey, I think it's time to have my own thing. I think it's time to set myself up properly. And he went, let's go do a franchise together.
Here we are being in a 9 to 5 job. We are not spending 9 to 5. We are spending really more than that traveling, then additional overtimes and all that. You normally do 12 hours with the 8 hour pay. This gives you more time with the family. Choose the time that you want to work and choose the time you want not to work.
This is going to be a family business in the future. Our plan is to grow as much as we can in the region that we have, it's the start of a future for our family. That's what we said. And so what are you hoping your.
Life looks like 12 months from now?
12 months from now? Stable. Stable and happy. We'll have to put a lot of grind to it in the initial days, but yeah, hopefully it'll pay up.
Patrick has a infinite sea of knowledge. The amount of tricks and tips he's given us. One of the tips is the belt doesn't really work. You're under desks, you're here, there, everywhere. He has a little trolley. I don't know if you've seen it, but it's a foldable trolley that just. You keep all your equipment on it. Everything's out of the way. You can put extension cords on it.
Done. Just sharpening up your processes, of course.
Yeah. Wouldn't have known those tips unless it was. Unless we were with Patrick. I reckon it all comes with experience and time.
Yeah.
Yeah, for sure. Especially how to use a can rubber band.
Was there any questions from yesterday? Now it's the time. Because when we get in there, we have to kind of test through.
I think it might only be the question of how to be quicker, but I just, I think that just comes with time, with experience.
Yes.
You've shown us a lot about being more efficient with the extension cords and such and adapters, but other than that. Yeah, it doesn't just come with time.
It will. You'll get more familiar with your tester as well. But when you are home, when you have done this course, when you're back home again, when you have free time, when you don't do quoting, when you don't do anything else, take all of your equipment at home. If you guys have power tools, if you guys have kettle toaster, whatever, test them. Test them one time, 10 times, 100 times. The more you test, the more you know about the appliances and the more you know about them, the more you would know where to put your prongs to test it. And then you don't need to look for where to put the prongs. Yeah, that's right. Alright. So that takes time. When you have to test and retest and retest because you can't find the earth on an appliance. Okay. That comes with experience. The more you test, the more you know where to put those prongs. Okay.
It's a lot more fun than I imagined. It feels like a big game of hide and seek. You're looking at different spots under different tables in different cupboards support has been really good from Patrick. He's very intuitive. He's very informative. He has a lot of knowledge that we wouldn't have figured out until at least year one, Year two, like end of year one, End of year two. He's just giving us tips, little tricks and gadgets he has that just would make everything flow quicker and better. He explains it well. He doesn't just ramble on. He waits for your response. He wants you to answer it. If you can't, then he explains it to you.
We'll start here and we'll move backwards as we are testing around. Okay, so we can start here. There isn't much here, but whoever wants to start can start. Yes. So everybody that doesn't do the testing, you want to do the report. So you have. So you have tried to do the report. So he is testing. You guys is not testing. So you guys is doing the report. Two cords. So both of them is tested as a Class 2. And what do we do then?
Test the radio as well?
Yes, we can test the radio together with the cord. So you don't need to unplug it. Okay.
It has a washer in it.
Is it? Okay, so what is the washer?
Well, because it's metal that once you put the water in there, then.
Yeah, it's still going to come. Yeah. So you have. You have a plastic or silicone washer around the metal bar that kind of. So it doesn't leak underneath, but that also makes sure that it doesn't touch the element. So if you put that on prongs on that, it won't give you any earth at all.
The environment that we just walk into in this office, into this training, in this boardroom, it's just an environment of. We got you. We'll get you through it. We got you. That's a feeling we get.
Giant.
Just.
Yeah, yeah, just do it. Just get into the water. You will definitely swim. Swim across.
The.
