Short spoken excerpt from a YouTube clip by Jarrad Goulding that debunks the myth that mosquitoes are attracted to 'sweet blood' and states that mosquitoes are attracted to carbon dioxide from breath, body heat and movement, alcohol consumption, and standing water (their breeding sites); the speaker also mentions that mosquitoes may prefer type O blood.

Sean, there's this old wives tale that mosquitoes are attracted to sweet blood. Sweet blood? Well that's a myth, Harvey. Things are actually attracted to carbon dioxide in your breath attracts them. Body heat and movement of the body can attract them. Alcohol, if you're drinking alcohol, that can attract them. And of course, standing water. Standing water is where they come from. It's where they breed. But Sean, isn't there a type of blood they're more attracted to? Apparently they're more attracted to type O blood. Oh, there you go.
