In this video, I'm going to show you the top new features in Adobe Illustrator 2021. So first up, there's a new feature called Cloud Documents. I'm going to jump into Photoshop real quick and when you save a file, typically you'll go file and you'll click on Save As. Now what you can actually do is you can actually save as into the Cloud Documents here. If you click on your computer, you'll see it would shift it. But usually this is the default window. But what you do, go to the left, bottom left, and click Save to Cloud Documents. Once you do that, you'll get this black box pop up. I can rename it, call it brochure, whatever you want. I can add folders as well, which is really cool. I can change the settings there on how to view it. But if I click Save, it's going to save to this section. Now I want to jump into Illustrator and what I can actually do is go to File and click Place. Now you can see because I've selected Cloud Documents, like once again, open Cloud Document down the bottom, this little button here, I can click that and it's gonna load up my import options. I can click Preview, which is cool. And then what I can do is I can select the image just as a normal regular image, or I can convert it to layers. But for this example, I'm just gonna click Flat layer and then I can drag and drop that in, which is super awesome. So now it's kind of handy. Instead of like having files on your desktop, maybe you want to save space. You can just do it as a cloud document, which is super awesome. The next cool feature is actually updates to Recolor Artwork. It's not actually new, but they've updated it and refurbished it. So I'm going to select these icons here. I'll click on Edit, go down to Edit Colors and click Recolor Artwork. You can see you get this cool box that pops up. It's kind of different, kind of new. So if I just drag it to the side here, what I can actually do is I can select Color Library. So I can click this. And just like before, I can select the color library and you can see it will change the actual colors there. If I want to go back, I can click the reset button and it will automatically reset back to the original colors. I can also flip around the colors here by clicking these two buttons, as you can see, and it will actually rotate which color is going to be prominent. I can also do this version as well and this will shuffle the colors and hue as well. So you can see here, we've got our main color board here, and I can drag these around, and it's pretty much changed the hue and the colors a little bit. I'm gonna click reset, and I love playing around with these individual ones. You can see you can actually, you know, play around, move these around. You can also grab the big one to change, like, completely different color palettes to a different hue or tonal range, which is really cool. You can also adjust the hue and saturation really quickly with this slider down the bottom. So I can make it really dark or actually really light by dragging it to the right, which is lovely. And I got these nice neon colors, which I like. I can also click this one as well, which will have a similar effect. But you can see instead of a white gradient, it will have a darker tone. So as you can see there, it pretty much zaps the colors out and pretty much makes the hue go down to light or black, which is awesome. Another cool thing. As well as you can see this big button that says Color theme picker. I can click this, and I have a image on the right. He zoom out and I can click this image, and I'll extract all those colors from there. So hopefully you guys could see that. And now it changed all the colors to all the colors in this image I described off unsplash. So that's kind of handy. And now I can, you know, adjust the colors how I want it. Maybe I want a different blue or whatever it is. It's super awesome. Maybe I'll try this other one from this image I imported. You can see got this nice white and blue palette. That's awesome. I love that. So that is the recolor artwork. I'm gonna jump into another document real quick here. I'm gonna show you some type tips they've recently got with your character section. What we can do is got Snap to glyphs now. So to turn those on, you want to click the hamburger menu and click Show Snap to Glyph Options. And then once we go down to the bottom, you can see you've got all these boxes. We can turn them off or on. As you can see, if I turn these main ones on, I press P for the pen tool. You will notice that now my glyphs are snapping. But one thing to note, you need to go to View and make sure your Snap to glyph is on and all the other views are turned off. Once you select that, I can go in here. And I can, you know, make sure that it's snapping, which is really cool. You'll get these one, these green highlights that snap to the XI at the baseline, the cap height as well. So all this, you know, familiar type terms you're, you're with, it's really awesome. I can also snap objects as well. So I can, you know, drag a shape here and drop it based on that sizing there, which is really cool. And it should snap, which is really nice there. So maybe I want to snap trademark or a copyright, which would be cool. So that's that. Another cool thing is area type options. I can select this, click type and click Area type Options. And now we've got these align options here. So I can click center, click bottom, justify. So maybe, you know, you have a certain design you're working on. I can press ok. And now when I drag out a type box, now I could drag out another one. I can always just customize that. So just another example here. I'll do it again. Maybe I want this box to snap to the bottom there so you get some freedom there. You can also click on auto size which is cool. You can change the text flow. I can do indents as well if I want press ok. And those are sort of the options that we have there with the area type tools. Another cool thing is that we have font height options. So typically you just like, you know, make a font, increase the size and you can increase it here and there. But now with the show font options, if I select that, you can see you can actually change the height based on the cap height, the M box or even the X height. Alright, so then if I, you know, make the size, you can see it will increase the size based on that height that we set. I can also set the cap height as well as you can see the difference there, which is really cool. That's kind of handy. Then lastly, another cool trick as well they've updated is that when we used to lock boxes you wouldn't, you couldn't really tell that it was locked except for you can't select it. But now when you lock something, you get this little cool icon here and I'll show you how to turn that on. You want to open your preferences, you want to go to selection and then you want to tick this box that says select and unlock objects on Canvas. Once you click on that, you will be able to see what's locked and all you do is left click on the little icon on the side and I'll unlock that object. So I'LL try again. I'll select these two objects. So now you can see it's like a gray outline on the box. I can just click on it once. Click on the side there and it makes it super easy to unlock that object. So hope you guys enjoyed these new updates and features. Thanks so much for watching. Remember to smash the like button and also subscribe to my channel.
