Facebook Marketing Overview | Foodtrepreneurs Collective

In this Taglish instructional video, Lesley Pascual‑Bartolo explains why Facebook should be the primary social‑media platform for Filipino food entrepreneurs and provides a step‑by‑step framework for turning a Facebook page into a sales‑generating community. She begins with a survey of local food businesses that shows 100 % of their target market is on Facebook, establishing the platform’s dominance over Instagram. She then guides viewers through two foundational questions: (1) how to make the product memorable – using taglines, memorable phrasing and brand‑unifying language – and (2) how to add value to customers rather than merely push sales. Concrete value‑adding ideas include sharing gift‑giving articles, behind‑the‑scenes footage, and community‑support content that position the product as part of the customer’s life story. Practical page‑setup tips follow: complete business information (hours, location, shop, reviews), ensure the physical store appears correctly on Google Maps, and enable auto‑replies for FAQs while still responding personally on a set schedule. Finally, she outlines algorithm‑friendly posting habits – at least one post per day, using the “See First” option, occasional boosting with a modest $25 starter budget, and monitoring engagement to sustain visibility. Throughout, the emphasis is on intentional, relationship‑focused marketing rather than random, sales‑only posts.

We are going to talk about social media marketing, specifically using Facebook because it is the number one social media platform here in the Philippines. So, nung nag-conduct ako ng isang survey for a group of food entrepreneurs para mas makilala yung kanilang target market, naalam namin na 100% ng kanilang target market ay nasa Facebook and only 60% ang nasa Instagram. So this shows us that dito sa Pilipinas talagang Widespread ang Facebook, and kung mami-mili kayo ng social media platform to start your social media marketing, I definitely recommend using Facebook. Hayon, asinus buha natin alamin or pagkaralan ay kung papaano natin imamanage or paano natin gagamitan yung ating social media page to market our products and increase our sales. This won't happen by chance. Kailangan mo ng direction, kailangan mo ng intention, and you have to set your focus and your priority. And there are 2 questions that I need you to ask yourself to to start clarifying what your focus and your priorities are. So number 1, how do you want people to remember your product? Why will they buy from you? What makes your product different and irresistible? Kailangan mo sagotin ang mga tano naito? At ang magiging sagot mo ay kailangan mo i-highlight lagin bangitin in different ways and forms sa iyon Facebook page. Maybe you should consider drafting a tagline. Ano ba yung tagline? It's a catchy phrase or sentence na gusto mo akiba dun sa pangalan mo or dun sa brand mo, dun sa product mo. For example, M&M's melts in your mouth, not in your hands. So it's trying to tell us na irresistible yung M&M's, nakaka-inin mo sha, sunod sunod sunod sunod, so hindi Pringles, once you pop, you can't stop. So very memorable, very catchy. And Pringles, na-affirm yung tagline na yon, na totoo ng ano, once na binuxan mo tong Pringles na to, yung buong canister na yon, and you start popping it in your mouth, you won't stop. Hanggang hindi siya mawubos. Nakikreetsa ng memory, nakikreetsa ng trust. Na, toto oyu siya sabihin nila, na once you pop, you can't stop. Another one, meron ako na kita na isang cheesemaker, I think sa New York. Na ang simple lang taglang niya, it's just different. Kasi kapag kinain mo yung kanyang cheese, yun yung masasabi mo sa sarili mo na, yeah, it's just different. But actually, fini yon sayo, binigan yan ang language description into saying it's just different because we have different ways to describe a product. But when you have a tagline, when you have a phrase, you begin unifying the language when you describe the product. It makes your brand stronger when you Product mo na isit nila, agad-agad yung tagline, and na alalan nila na ay, oh, masarap yun. It's just different, or once you pop, you can't stop. Talaga irresistible ang M&M's. Another memorable tagline ay yung sa KitKat: Have a break, have a KitKat. So di tinaman sa tagline nato, binibigan ka nyan ang trigger, and ang trigger is a shaas among factors na nagpapaviral sa isang idea o sa isang producto according to studies di Jonah Berger. Dahed dun sa tagline nila na, have a break, have a KitKat. So it's another good slant sa pag-iisip mo ng tagline mo for your own product. So number 2 question, think about how do you want to add value to your customers instead of just the customers adding value to you through sales. How do you want to help them beyond selling them your products? Because this is very important. You need to be aware of this and you need to be intentional about this so that you won't get into the trap of just selling, selling, selling. So ikaw mismo nasa Facebook and then meron kang may kita doy page, na fino follow mo or friend, na ang mga post niya puro bilikan ito, bilikan ito, bilikan ito, bilangan ito, bilangan ito, bilangan ito, how would you feel? Diba parang nakakasawa na na pero kapag nag-add ka ng value sa kanila, then they would want to continue following you and ultimately they would want to buy from you. Anong halimbawa nito? Hunwari meron kang producto cookies or pastillas or polvoron, katulad ng mga recipe na chinercos sa inyo in the past weeks, tapos gusto mo siyang i-position as a gift item. Tapos gusto mo siyang i-position as a gift item. So instead of just posting pictures of these products again and again and asking people to buy from you, why not give additional value For example, find an article about the benefits of gift giving and then post it on your Facebook page. And your customers will be reminded that, ay, oh, oh, mah, important ang gift giving, matagal ko na hindi nabigen ang regalo ng asawa ko, or hindi ko na ipakiteng appreciation ko dito sa katrabaho ko, etc., etc. And then since nakita nila ito sa iung page Malaman kanino sila bibele ng pangregalo? Sa'yo! So hindi mo binenta directly yung product mo. Nag-add ka ng value by reminding them of the benefits of gift giving, by reminding them of the importance of relationship. It will be very deep sakin yang mind, sakin yang heart, at hindi nila makakalimutan ang iyong producto. So you see how powerful, you know, social media marketing can be. If you will just think about how you can help your customers. Through this, you are also building relationship, you are building a community, and it's very, very important, especially sa panahon natin na yon, ang mga tao nagahanap sila ng mga producto na mapagkakatiwala nila, ng mga producto na kilala nila, ng mga producto na familiar, ng mga producto na kilalarin nila yung gumagawa. Kaya rin mismo, if you were to choose between two products na parehas yung quality, pero yung isa, kilala niyo yung gumagawa. Meron kayong relationship dun sa gumagawa. And kung meron kayong feedback, alam niyo na mapapahinggan kayo do sa feedback na yon. Do unsagumagawan nyo. In the long run, sobrang makakatulong ito sa inyo, kasi maliban pa do sa constructive feedback na mao kuhangyo from your customers, from your followers, from the community na nabuild nyo sa inyo Facebook page, dahado sa relationship na mero nkasahanila, mas may iintindahan din nila pagkunwade kaylangan mo na magtasnan pressure. So how do you explain that to people that you don't have a relationship with? Pero dahil may relationship ka sa kanila, you can explain it, you can make them understand, you have a better chance at successfully raising your prices. So ano ba yung mga pedi mo ipost? Pedi ka ni magpost mga behind the scenes para ipahitamo a pa no ginagawa yung mga product mo para ma-appreciate nila the hard work, the passion that goes into your products. Now for practical tips about your Facebook page, make sure that you fill in all the details na kaylangan. Yung opening hours nyo, yung location ninyo, yung kung gusto nyo ilagay na dunyan prices ninyo. Meron shop part sa inyong Facebook page business template. And then make sure that here is the recommendation. I know that they recommend for others to review. One more thing, encourage your friends to leave reviews because we are all made of psychology, of mirror. So if we see reviews, it will encourage them to also give their reviews. But if there is no review, encourage na magbigay ng review. Another thing, very important, physical store, make sure na nakapin sa Google Maps ang inyong store and tama yung pagkapin ninyo, kasi marami na ako experienced na nang liligaw talaga kami trying to find stores. So malaking malaking tulong kung mapin nyo ng maayos ang location ng inyong store or delivery lang kayo, then ilagay nyo rin doon. Tapos, meron din ataw ng auto-reply sa inyong Facebook page, so make use of that. Pero di nakaayo agad agad maglagay na answers to frequently asked questions. But that is not an excuse para hindi kayo magrespond personally dito sa mga tao. Dahil ang gusto ninyo magbuild ng relationship, gusto nyo ipakita na may tao behind the products that they are buying, that they are seeing. So mag-set lang kayo nang time, for example, every 12 noon, every lunch break, 12 to 1 PM, yung time ninyo to check messages and to respond. Okay, it's a very complicated discussion, so ang importante lang naman malaman nyo ayon ay kailangan nyo ipahita kay Facebook and even dinsa mga followers that you are very active. So at least once a day, mag-post kayo. At tumero kayong bumintang post bigla, italagang ang pasno engagement, ang pasno shares, pedi nyo siyang i-boost. May buya diyon, pero yung first $25, I think, free pa lang.
