A tire shop owner threw community parties and became a local legend. That's storytelling. Stories are what make people care about your product, not the product itself. Podcasting forces you to get good at it.

Stories are the only thing that make people care. It takes a perfectly normal product or a perfectly normal business. You could be selling tires. And if you tell me a story about how your dad sacrificed everything to start this tire store on the corner and everybody in the community knew about it, and he would host these parties for families who had less money and it just became this big thing in the community. Now you've made me care about a freaking tire. And so I think the most important skill that you can ever have is storytelling. Your products, your business, people only care if there's story.
