These Three Habits Have Transformed My Operations ($100,000+ Saved)

Matthew Larson (creator) describes three habits that transformed his agency operations: (1) daily watching ~1 hour of videos about automation tools (Make, Zapier, AI automations) to learn possibilities; (2) building one automation per day (he reports 37 automations to date) to implement workflows; and (3) learning Python using boot.dev to enable more advanced automations. He reports tangible outcomes from these habits: elimination of 3 VA roles saving about $6k/month, closing 16 deals in 37 days attributed to improved follow-up and personalization, an estimated ~$100,000 additional revenue from these changes plus another ~$40,000 from increased creatives/cold outreach, and improved accountability and consistency across operations.

If you are an agency owner, or realistically, any B2B business owner that's struggling with operations and margins and, you know, maintaining consistent results and just managing it all, I think that this video is something that you should watch and it's not going to be a crazy long video. So try to watch to the end. There are three things that I've been doing lately, maybe we'll call it four things, but three for sure, that have really, really helped me and my businesses. And if you don't know who I am, my name is Matthew Larson and I work with about 450 agencies every month through my consulting with a program called 1000x leads and a program called 10k per month agency. If you don't know what those are, you can search them up yourself. So the three things that I've been doing are one, watching about an hour's worth of videos on YouTube every day about make.com zapier, AI automations, all of that kind of stuff. And I do this for two reasons. The first reason is that of course, you know, you don't know how to do that, or I don't know how to do a lot of this stuff and I need a tutorial or I need something to show me how. That's kind of the obvious one. I feel like a lot of people could understand that reason. But the second reason is that if you're not an AI expert, you're not an automation expert, you're not a make.com expert, you just don't even know what kind of options are available to you or what kind of things you could actually automate. So watching a lot of this stuff and, you know, from a very diverse, you know, group of channels, it really has opened my eyes to a lot of things that have been done manually for the last 10 years, 12 years of my career, that can be done automatically now, and it's not even that hard to do. So and by doing that, you can make stuff more consistent, save time, save capital, because you don't have to hire. And it just makes things go a lot more smoothly. So that would be the first habit that I'm doing. The second habit I'm doing is actually making one automation per day. I've been doing this since late October or early October actually, at this point. And I'm up to 37 different automations now that have helped my businesses. And I would say of those 37, probably 25 are very unique to my business. But the other 12 are stuff that anyone could do, something like automatic transcripts, for calls, stuff like automatic transcripts for my videos, taking those transcripts and turning them into newsletters with ChatGPT or OpenAI, turning those transcripts into content, getting my sales call recordings in a spreadsheet, getting all of my customers and leads in a spreadsheet automatically like that kind of stuff. Those are the general ones and the other 25 or so are pretty unique to my situation and my businesses. So I'm not really going to talk about them because they're kind of pointless for you. So between the first habit of learning and the second habit of actually implementing that within the last 37 days I'm estimating that I have made a hundred thousand dollars more than before. And that comes from I've completely eliminated 3 jobs that I was paying about 6k per month total for between 3 VAs. I've really fixed my sales and follow up to where realistically I've closed 16 deals in the past 37 days that I probably wouldn't have otherwise. Just from the aggressive automations and the follow up and the personalization of it because I built a scraper that kind of scrapes their data and scrapes all of the stuff that they submitted on the form and comes up with a plan for them and then keeps following up based on different aspects of that plan. So it's very personalized but it doesn't seem like it's AI, so it's very good. And the final thing is I've opened up a few new opportunities to make more ad creatives, send more cold emails with better scripts and as well as make more content that's made me another probably $40,000 that I wouldn't have got otherwise. So I'm going to stay this course and I'm probably going to make one automation per day for a year, get 365 automations if I can, of course, just make it better and better and better. And another thing now that I think about it, is I've also automated a lot of accountability for both myself and my employees and I'm getting a lot more out of them and myself than I was before. So the first habit was learning, the second habit is implementing. And the third habit I've been doing is I've been doing something called, let me pull it up here, it's called boot.dev and it's kind of a gamified platform software, I don't know what you want to call it that teaches you Python. And like it's kind of like if you played Runescape back in the day or played Call of Duty where you get XP and you get rewards and stuff. So you finish the task, you get 30 or 50 XP. It's kind of just a dumb little way to gamify it. And I not sponsored by this, but I've been learning a little bit of Python not to become a software developer because that's if you really wanted to learn Python to be a full software Dev, you're probably 10 years behind at this point. But there are certain automations and certain AI stuff that you just kind of have to have basic knowledge In Python, even 20 or 30 or 40 hours worth to be able to implement. And doing this has allowed me to unlock stuff that I would have to pay someone for or just probably not even know the possibilities for without doing it. So the combination of learning both how to do it and what's possible, actually implementing it, and then learning Python at least probably going to stop after a few more weeks to a basic level to unlock the opportunity to make even more automations has really systemized my operations, operations, employee training, consistency, all of that kind of stuff. Organization to the point where it's almost like it's a completely different business with how it runs. So I thought that this was a video and I think I'd recommend this to anyone. Do those three things even for 30 days and get back to me and see what you think. Put it in the comments and I will see you next time.
