This Newsletter Format Got Me 190+ Clients in 2024

Matthew Larson built a B2B newsletter template with fixed sections (header, tip, links, deep-dive, offers, poll) that got him 190+ clients in 2024. He sends it 3 to 5 times a week, keeps images under 150 words, and reuses content from YouTube, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

In this video, I'm going to create a newsletter in real time. And a newsletter is one of the most valuable tools in your arsenal as a B2B business to convert people who already know about you or people who are already leads into actual paying clients. So if you never watch one of my videos before, my name is Matthew Larson and I'm the founder of A Thousand X Leads. And let's get right into it. I'm in my Beehive account currently, which is the software, the platform that I use for newsletters. And what we're going to want to do is to do a few different things. The first, we want to create something of a template, something that we can just duplicate every time the same format and then just kind of make it work. Because we want to be sending this three times per week at a very minimum, and maybe even five times per week once we get good at it. So what would I do at the very top? I would have some my logo. And if I can find my logo, that would be a start, wouldn't it? So let's go a thousand X, Except not that one. So let's go into Canva and get my logo. So where are you? Where are you, bad boy? Here's my logo in the correct dimensions. So let's replace that there. We always want to have our logo at the top. Well, not always, but in this case I want to. The first section we want to have. And let's lay out the sections first of all, the summary or the introduction section. Let's try to make this an H1. So I'm going to lay out the. Call it content break there. So we'll do something like the actionable tip of the day, another content break. We'll do copy and paste this and we'll go top links. We'll do something like Traffic here. We'll go something like Traffic views. People. I'm just looking for an icon that would work here. Traffic, we'll just do that Money icon for now. Traffic leads, Conversions, operations or something like that. What we'd have here is I'd have a bunch of different links for each. Maybe one to two, maybe three for each at the very most. And that's just a great, how would you say piece great section for engagement type thing. Deep dive slash main topic. So that will be kind of a long section. So we'll give it some space. That will be like the bulk of the newsletter, if that makes sense. This one will be the how I can help section or something of that nature. And then this one the last one here will be the poll section. So let's go back down and let's copy and paste this here And Beehive has a built in pull feature so there I'm just going to add it there. Tell me what you think. I always want to make these newsletters as useful as possible. So in our Beehive or whatever tool we're choosing to use for this, we're going to see a few different things. Like you see up here with the 36 words. I don't know if you can see it that well but if I zoom in 36 words as a rule of thumb for like the deliverability to make sure it lands in the inbox here, want to keep it to 150 words per image or link and so we have one image here, we have a couple of image or links here but these are kind of don't count as much if that makes sense and hopefully just take my word for it. But when we fill out the content and all of that kind of stuff, we need to make sure we have a healthy ratio of content to links and images, attachments, whatever you want to call them. So what I'm going to do here is I'm going to fill out my How I can help section join a thousand X leads. Get a free marketing plan. Get my 12 free trainings. So what I'm going to do here is if you own an agency or a B2B business doing over 10k per month and you want the systems, processes, strategies that you need to scale to 100k per month and beyond, consider joining a thousand X leads. There are over 190 members doing over 3 or 295 million per year in combined revenue. Let's not exaggerate. You get access here. I'm just going to put link link and then link here. What I would do is put it to 1000x leads.com program. Want a free marketing plan that you can use to grow your business past 1 million per year in profit. I will create you a custom marketing plan for your niche and service and have it ready within six hours and then I'm going to put the link so how I could help you section good things to put here your service. If you have like a digital product or something of that nature, it's a good one as well. What was the link? I think free marketing plan. Yep. Want free trainings covering every single part of B2B marketing. I made 12 free trainings that cover Legion paid ads, content, cold email newsletters. What else are There offers partnerships, prospecting and more. You can download them all at in a single place and they will be instantly sent to your email. And if I was doing this for real, I'd probably put a little more effort into this in terms of the copy and being persuasive and stuff. But this is what you'd be doing then. If I had something like an info product, I put it here as well. So how I can help you section? You could do it like this. You could do it even. You could do it even like less. You could just put join a thousand x leads, you know, get a free marketing plan, get the 12 free trainings with just the links. But whatever you want to do, it's your newsletter, right? So what I do is welcome to my newsletter for May 29, 2024. Estimated 6 minute read in this newsletter I will be going over the following things. So typically speaking and much, much more. So typically speaking you would do this kind of after because it's going to be hard to make a summary once before you've done all of this content type thing. So you know we're going to go do that after. So what you want to do here and what you want to do next is what I do at least is I always go to this actionable tip of the day and what I would is because I post content on Twitter and all of that kind of stuff, you know, etc. Right. But so I would take my best performing tweets for example and I would put them in the actionable per day. So here are. Oops, I'm just copy and pasting this from someone somewhere else to be transparent with you. So let's go. Let's format it a little bit better though for this purpose at least. We can expand on it a little bit too because. Because I said. Something of this nature and then I might expand. If you are an agency or B2B business, you absolutely need to be tracking the following metrics. Something like that. Very nice. So now let's go to the top links section. So what I usually do here is I'll do a combination of stuff like here are some links that I think you should check out this week. So it kind of depends. Here are some links that you should check out. Kind of depends like how often you're going to be doing this. Because if you are essentially, how would you say if you're sending this every day, you probably don't want to restrict yourself into these different categories. If you're sending it once per week, you'd probably do that, something like that. But what I would do here is essentially do like three, four, maybe five links. If I'm doing this three times per week. And the bonus points are if you link back to your own content, that's even better because then they see you on, you know, different stuff. So I'm on my other screen here. So one of the things will be watch me make a lead magnet for my agency in real time. No fluff, no bs, no editing or script, just raw footage on how to do it properly and then I'll have a link or something like that. So the next thing I might do is because you want to promote yourself on all of the platforms, so I might do that on another one as well. So I'm going to, I have on my other screen, I'm looking over there right now to basically find something that I can do from LinkedIn. So let's see here. So I got this LinkedIn post right here. Oops, that's the wrong one. That's the wrong one. Not the one I was trying to copy. The awkward silence is how you build great newsletters. So don't worry about that. This is the one. So I would go something like, want to reduce client churn and get more referrals. Try this. Next, I might link to something on my Twitter because I want to do it on all the platforms. So they follow me on all the platforms. Should be simple enough. Here are the five systems you need for your business. So I'll put that up on the screen here. But something like this. Next I'm going to go to my partner's YouTube because I saw that he posted a couple of case studies about how we helped people do X, Y and Z. So I'm going to go link here, I'm going to do that. And then for the last one, what should I do for the last one? Which what could I do for the last one? What kind of content do I have in this one? I might do something like on a piece of content that I made in terms of a document, Might do this one here. The daily routine I use to scale to over eight figures in less than 12 months. So now we have a good mix. We have a YouTube video at the top. We have a LinkedIn post and a Twitter post and then a YouTube case study and now a document. So we have some good links and this is one of the most engagement filled sections. Like if they click on these links, like that's just great. Engagement next. So basically what I'm going to do here is the metrics you need to be tracking for your business. How we helped angus grow from 6k to 60k per month. Ideas to reduce client churn and get more referrals. And then for the deep dive, like this is the last section, so we have quite a few links here and some down here. So we have eight links. So eight times 150, 1200. So we should probably be making this last section. So 1200 minus, let's just call it 400, 800 words or more. So this is where you would really dive into either a story or a main topic or something. How to do X, Y and Z. I am not going to do that here for this video just because this is going to take like a lot of the time. This takes 30 minutes, 45 minutes, etc. But this is exactly how you would create a great newsletter. You would have each of your sections that are like kind of the same every single time. You would do all of these sections first you would do your main section, after you'd have how I could help and then a feedback poll and that's really what you would be doing. So I hope this video was helpful and I will see you in the next one.
