This Productivity Hack Has Helped Me Sell Three Companies

A productivity system based on Brian Tracy's rule of three: identify your three highest-leverage tasks each week, then complete them first thing after waking. The speaker makes three YouTube videos daily, writes 1,000 words toward a book, and implements three product improvements. He credits this routine with helping him sell three companies over 12 years.

The number one hack that has helped me grow and exit three agencies in the last 12 years. And the single biggest hack that I also tried to teach to the 450 plus agencies that I consult with on a monthly basis is a two part hack. And the first part is to identify the three most important things that give you the highest leverage and then to reduce the time from when you wake up to when you complete those three things. So let's break that down a little bit. I'm not going to waste your time by going too far into it because it's pretty easy to understand. There is a great author that I love. He's kind of a self help slash business author named Brian Tracy. And he teaches something called the rule of three. And what the rule of three is is that no matter how many things you do in a week, whether it's 10 or 10,000 things, just three of them will contribute 90% or more of your results. It's kind of like a modified version of the 8020 rule, but I think it's even more accurate than the 8020 rule. So for me with my business, those three things are making three YouTube videos per day. I have to make them ahead of time because I travel so much and can't film every day. The second thing is to write 1,000 words for the book that I'm writing, which will kind of explode the business. And number three is to make three improvements to my product, which is my school group or a thousand ex leads at the time of recording this video. So Those are the three things that if I only did those three things, I would get 90% of the result. So everything besides those three things I try to delegate as much as possible. So the second part of it is to reduce the time between you waking up and getting all of these three things done. So what I do is the night before I'll write down three improvements. Two of them will be very small improvements, five minutes or less. And then the other one will be kind of a big improvement, 30-60 min type thing. I will also write down what chapter and what part of the book I want to write. Just kind of some bullet points, five, ten maybe. And then I will write down three ideas for YouTube and I will just put three to five bullet points for each. So when I wake up, the first thing I do is make those two small improvements to kind of build the momentum and get me my mind right. Then I will write 1000 words for the book. Then I will film the three YouTube videos. Then I will make the large improvement. And I actually have a spreadsheet where I track, you know, if I wake up at 5:15, I'll write that down. And then when I get started on the two improvements, let's say that's 5:37. I'll say, okay, I got started with 22 minutes. And then same with the book, same with the YouTube videos. Same with the large improvement and optimizing and reducing the delay between you getting up and you finishing these three. Rule of Three tasks really will do two things. It'll make sure you get them done, which is the most important. But it'll make the rest of the day go so much better because instead of stressing, instead of worrying about the tasks that you, oh my God, I haven't even started yet. You just get it done. So it's kind of like you almost want to turn your brain off, plan it the night before, kind of just like I have on this notepad here, and then just do it. And it's hard to do at first. Anything you do at first is hard, but you get more and more efficient. It gets more and more easy as you do it until it just becomes as automatic as just tying your shoes after you put them on, or brushing your teeth before bed or putting a lid on a bottle once you're done drinking from it. It's just so easy. Takes about two months of doing this, in my experience, to really get it to be almost on autopilot. But it's probably the number one thing that I've ever done in the past 12 years that helped me get the results. And I recommend everybody do this, My clients, you watching, and anything, because it's just one of those things that is kind of like a. I don't know if you call it a framework or something, but it's kind of just like a system and a way to live your life that will really make a tremendous difference.
