Dietitian Sonia Malwani Paiz. Thank you so much for coming on and for bringing lots of good snacks and treats. Right, so let's start with just the basics of what makes a healthy school lunch.
Anything that your kids are going to.
Eat, you.
Really want them to eat. Things that they're going to love, things that they're going to get through their day. You want it to be a healthy component of fruits, vegetables, grains, protein, and fat. So just a balance of foods.
I think there's a lot of healthy misconceptions, especially with the way things are labeled. Some of those companies trying to trick you into thinking something's healthy, Right?
Yeah. Really, it is. All foods are good foods. So you want kids to have balance. All right, so again, focusing on things that they really like and matching it up with things that maybe aren't as familiar are really good.
Okay.
As a busy parent, I pulled a lot of things that are, like, easy to grab and go.
Prepackaged. Yes.
So kids can actually make their own lunches. My kids come with me to the grocery store. They pick out things that they want to eat. I have, like, dark chocolate peanut butter.
I was. I've never seen. I mean, I've seen Nutella, but this is different.
It's not as sweet. It doesn't have as much sugar.
Dark chocolate dreams. Love it. Gonna have some dark chocolate chocolate dreams now. Okay, so what are some of the things. I would love to know what you say no to. Like, at the store, they say, mom, I want this. What do you say no to?
