This is a YouTube video titled "Relatability and emotion" containing a monologue or talk by Daniel Pink from November 2, 2023. The content focuses on the importance of expressing emotions and relatability in communication, using personal anecdotes to connect with the audience.
When I tell people I lied to my dad, when I put $6,000 on my credit card, I'm hitting that emotion of I was afraid. Or if I say I did it and I wanted a refund, I wanted to vomit. I'm getting more into that relatability, that emotion. Right When I say people thought I was absolutely crazy, I'm more relatable because they might be afraid of people thinking they're crazy. When I say a lot to my dad or the credit card, I might, which is true. I might be relatable because they might be worried about what their parent or significant other or roommate is going to think of them making that investment. So we want to get into the emotion of it a little bit and put it so that they can envision themselves. Because the difference of, like, and I'm not saying that you're going to do this, but there's a big difference between after nine years, I quit my job to, like, everyone thought I was completely insane. I gave up benefits, I gave up insurance, like, whatever it is. But, like, getting into that, where they're like, oh, yeah, I'm afraid of that. I'm afraid of that.
