Melissa Dlugolecki got an Instagram ad for Mandarin lessons in Mandarin, exactly what she asked for. She scrolled past it because she can't read Mandarin yet. The ad was perfectly targeted but useless.
And I said, imagine that, and I use this example all the time. So imagine I say, Lori, I'm gonna learn Mandarin. You're like, oh, okay, Melissa, like go ahead, do your thing, right? Yeah. And I'm like, I'm gonna learn Mandarin. And I pick up my phone and Instagram's always listening. So I get hit with an ad for Mandarin. Yep. Free. Exactly what I just said I wanted. Mm-hmm. But the ad's in Mandarin. Mm. I don't know that language yet. And so it has to be in English. I'm gonna scroll right back even though it's exactly what I said I wanted. And if it was in English, I would click.
