Sourcing used Toyotas and Lexus is a challenging task. Nowadays both brands are in high demand and every used car trader in Europe will easily find buyers for the two brands sourcing used cars in such a competitive market. Speed, efficient communication, smooth cooperation and detailed used car data. This short video highlights how the cooperation of all stakeholders will within the Toyota organization will take place on the Used Car Controller platform. The starting point in the international used car trade is often an Excel file that contains all the important vehicle data. To enable the Toyota network to buy these used cars, Toyota Motor Europe will first upload the Excel file, select the trader offering the cars and automatically enrich the data with VIN data from DAT Germany. All the uploaded cars automatically appear in the Used Car controller account of Toyota Motor Europe. By combining the data of the used car trader and DAT Germany, we're able to create a comprehensive car file. DAT Germany enables us to show you the original equipment and additional option packs and it's common practice that the trader informs the potential buyer about the expected costs of refurbishment. The complete car file is now ready to be shared with the participating NMSCs. One click on a button makes the car available for sale in Used car controller. Both NMSC's can now see how many cars are on offer and waiting for their bid. Each NMSE has the choice to either Buy now or place a counter bid. But what is the maximum bid possible for both these NMSCs? Together with NFT participating NMSE, we will define an NMSE specific top down trade price calculation. Starting with the expected sales price in the local market and taking into account all possible costs. The predefined scheme calculates the maximum bidding price and if you are in doubt about the expected sales or purchase price, you can benchmark your own calculation with e.g. indicata. In this example, the maximum bid by Toyota Germany would be €14,040. Toyota Adria in turn uses its own top down calculation with a slightly higher expected sales price and slightly lower costs. Toyota Ariya calculates a maximum bid of $14,720 with a buy now price of 14,500. Toyota Ariya chooses to accept the Buy now price. Meanwhile in Brussels, the sourcing coordinator sees both prices appear in used Car Controller. After final agreement with the trader, Toyota Motor Europe will accept the bid on behalf of the trader. As Toyota Adria is now the owner of the Toyota Yaris, there is a big incentive to have the car ready for local sales as soon as possible. Used Car controller again supports efficient cooperation with a tool called flexflower. How will this work for our Toyota Yaris. For this presentation, we defined a fictional six step flex flow which starts with the receipt of the invoice if the invoice is received. The second step is for finance to check and approve the invoice before paying. The used car department needs to approve the invoice in a third step as soon as the invoice is paid in the fourth step, transport can be arranged in the fifth. By using the used car controller platform, Toyota Motor Europe is able to digitalize the used car sourcing process, improve cooperation and communication with nmses, anchor swift and efficient car to local market processes, and scale its used car sourcing processes to achieve its objectives.
