Before the workshop, talk one-on-one with each person you've invited. Make sure they understand the purpose and their role, and surface any conflicts or tensions early. Most workshop failures come from interpersonal issues, not bad content.

Step number 3: Once you know exactly whom you want to have in the room, take time and have conversations with each and every one of them. Make sure that you're aligned regarding the purpose and regarding their role. And this is a perfect moment actually also to discuss a little bit off record what potential conflicts can come up. Because a lot of workshops actually don't fail because of the structure or the ideas or the topic, but because of people issues. So if you do take time to align with the participants beforehand, this will help you to make your workshops work. Step number 3.
