A facilitator explains why theater skills matter: people pay attention to your energy and presence, not just your words. Use exaggerated gestures, bigger facial expressions, and amplified body language to cut through distractions and actually connect with the room.
Chapters
Facilitation sometimes is just like theater when we are on stage. And what a theater teacher will tell you is that you have to exaggerate, you have to take more space, you have to use your face more because the group will only get a fraction of that. And usually when we are facilitating a group, they are not so much interested in the content, they are more interested in the energy. And we are competing with so many different distractions. So instead of being nervous that you might not be perfect, get comfortable with just being yourself and showing your full self and exaggerating a little bit. Use your energy, use your face, and try to engage from the human side, and then already half the job is done. Good luck!
