The questions you ask reveal your leadership style and inner traits. A question can signal humility, power, curiosity, arrogance, or insecurity depending on how you phrase it. Recognizing these patterns helps you communicate more intentionally.
Chapters
There are many reasons why we ask questions. The first thing that comes to our mind is usually to bridge a knowledge gap. We ask a question because we are looking for an answer. But what is actually more interesting is to look at questions and what they tell us about ourselves, our leadership style, and maybe even our personality. We can signal humility through our questions by actually pointing out that we don't know the answer. We can signal power through a question by pointing at someone else's knowledge gap. We can signal curiosity with a what if question, and we can signal arrogance with a have you thought of question, which is actually not a question but an advice hidden by a question mark. And we can also show insecurity with a question by asking, what should I do? What would you do? What shall we do? Happy inspiration!
