A trainer teaches new information. A coach supports personal development and inner work. A facilitator draws out knowledge the group already has. All three guide a process, but what they're working with is different.

One question that I get asked a lot is, what is the difference between a facilitator, a coach, and a trainer? Well, the trainer comes in in order to bridge a knowledge gap. There is something the group needs to know but doesn't know yet. The coach comes in in order to take someone onto the inner journey, and the outcome is less tangible. The facilitator comes to the group with the understanding that everything that there is to know is present already, and it's the role of the facilitator to bring that knowledge out and to make meaning and sense of what is already there. I hope this makes sense. And if you want to know what they all have in common, it's facilitating. They all facilitate, and I show you this in the next video.
