How I went from Chipotle Worker to a 7 Figure Entrepreneur

An 18-year-old gamer working at Chipotle rebuilt his mindset around accountability, then habit by habit climbed to $3 million in sales between August 2023 and January 2024. He credits the shift to rewiring his self-image through daily affirmations and treating himself as already successful.

Sam, Three years ago, I was living in a prison. And I was the one who locked myself in. Today, finally free. 2pm Every single day. Snooze, scroll, tick tock, Instagram, repeat. Pizza boxes, energy drink cans. The same clothes I've been wearing for three days. Rocket League still running from the night before. 9am Madrid. Natural Light to the Airbnb windows. No alarm, no rush, just peace. Exploring the Spanish streets below. This used to be a fantasy. Now it's my reality. I remember looking in that mirror, not recognizing the person staring back. Tired eyes, bad skin, empty. Now, when I look in the mirror in this Madrid Airbnb, I finally see myself. I was 18 years old, sitting in that room at 4am, playing a game I didn't even enjoy anymore. And then something broke. I paused, looked around, really looked. The mess, the waste, the life I was throwing away. I stood up, walked to the mirror. And I hated the person I saw. Overweight, unhealthy, lost. I opened Instagram, saw someone my age, Traveling, building, living. And I realized I could either stay this person forever, or I could change. But here's what I learned that night. You can't change yourself without changing your mind first. At 18, I made it to fix my mindset. To take accountability for my life. No more blaming my parents. No more blaming my circumstances. No more blaming the world. This was my life, my responsibility, my choice. Every morning I was waking up at 2pm that was me. Every night I was gaming till 4am that was me. Every day that I was wasting, that was on me. And if it was my fault, that meant I had the power to change it. That's what accountability does. It gives you the power back. I stopped being a victim. Started being the creator. I felt ungrateful. I reshaped my mind. I'm blessed. I have a roof, I have food. I have opportunity. I have a great family. And I fel. Felt tired. I reshaped my mind. I'm not tired. I'm being tested. And I will not fail. Every negative thought became a chance to rewire my brain. Walking through Madrid right now, I realized that's where freedom actually started. Not when I made the money. Not when I booked the flight. In that moment, at 18, when I decided my mind was mine to control, mind step was step one. But mind step without action, that's just daydreaming. So I started building habits. The first one I did was the gym. Day one, I could barely do 10 push ups. I was weak, out of shape, embarrassed. But I showed up. Day two, day three, day 30. And I learned something that changed everything in my life. Life. If you do the work long enough, you will get results. I remember seeing those first transformations in that gym mirror. And that taught me that hard work actually pays off. Maybe, but it will. The weights don't lie. The mirror doesn't lie. You put in the reps, you get stronger. Simple. Not easy, but simple. In that lesson, I started to apply to everything. I had a job at chipotle making 15 an hour. Making burritos, cleaning tables, taking orders. And I worked hard. Not because I love the job, because I was training my work ethic, training my attitude, training my discipline. I wasn't always like this. But when I started to learn how hard work pays off, that's when I changed. When I felt tired on a shift, I reminded myself, I'm actually blessed to have this job. I get to work, I get to earn. I get to build character. When customers are rude, I stayed calm. This is making me stronger. And this is testing my resilience. Every burrito I made with care, every table I cleaned with intention, every shift, I showed up early because I realized if I can't show up for a minimum wage job, how I ever show up for my dreams? And now, sitting at this cafe in a mafia, ordering whatever I want, I'm grateful for Chipotle. Because that's where I started building habits that built everything else. Those habits started stack gym every morning, Chipotle every afternoon, building my business every night. No days off, no excuses, no exceptions. 90 days became 180, 180 became a year. And slowly I started to see results. I started to fall in love with working hard. I built muscle and actually started to build a physique I was proud of. I got promoted at Chipotle and started actually making a decent wage. And then eventually that transformed into my business, where I started making money online. First it was a hundred dollars, then five hundred dollars. And the next thing, I started making a thousand dollars a day. Small wins, but they were adding up. And I secret, nobody tells you success isn't about one big moment. It's about doing boring stuff every single day. Until it's not boring anymore. Until it's just who you are. Now I'm exploring Athens on some random Tuesday in October. Not because I got lucky, because I built habits that built systems, that built freedom. But here's the thing about habits. They only work if you protect them. There were nights where old friends would hit me up, bro, just hop on one more game. Or I'd look at my schedule. Gym 6am, totally 10am Working my business at 6pm and I'd type I can busy. There were times where I would be tempted to scroll and I would scroll. But eventually I would tell myself back to work. So there were days that I didn't want to do it. There were days where I was sore, tired, unmotivated. But eventually it kind of started to go away. Because discipline isn't about when you feel like it's doing it. Especially when you don't feel like it. That shows if you're actually disciplined or not. Because everyone can do it when they're motivated, but who can do it when they're not? And those habits, they became non negotiable. They became my identity. And that's when everything changed. January 2023. I was still working in food service, still grinding my business on the side. And then I did it. $10,000 profit in one month. And I remember staring at that note and I like crying and I was like so like. Because I've been trying to do this for years, I had so many people doubt me and I even doubted myself so much I thought I made it, I can quit my job and all in on the business. And I thought everything would be different now. But here's what nobody tells you. Making money once is the easy part. And the truth is I fell off fast. Within, lost it all. I got into debt. I couldn't understand why. Same strategy, same effort, same habits. But nothing was working. I was back in that room, staring at a negative bank account, staring at my amex being high balances on them that I couldn't pay off. And that's when it hit me. Deep down, I didn't believe I was that guy who deserved success. I changed my mindset, I changed my habits, but I didn't change my self image. I still saw myself as that gamer, that failure, that kid who got lucky once. And your self image, it's a thermostat. You can't outperform for long. If you see yourself as a loser, you'll find a way to lose even when you're winning now. Walking in all mafia right now. I understand this deeply. You can have all the right habits, but if you don't believe you're the person who deserves the results, you will sabotage yourself every single time. So I had to change how I saw myself. Not just what I did, not just how I thought, but who I believed I was at my core. And I started talking to myself differently. Not that I want to be successful, but that I am successful. I am Good. I am someone who's going to change and not I hope this works, but this is working because this is who I am. I'm a winner. Every morning I look into the mirror and read affirmations out loud. I am disciplined. I am abundant. I am that guy. Even when I had no evidence. Especially when I had no evidence. That's when I trusted God. I prayed every single day. I surrendered my outcome. God, I'm yours. Use and guide me. I trust. Your plan said this. When I was like paying debt, I stopped trying to become someone and started being that person right now, today. And everything shifted. August 2023 to January 2024. Six months. I found a product, scaled it, $3 million in sales. $3 million. But this time I didn't feel lucky. I felt inevitable. Because I wasn't that kid who got lucky anymore. I was the man who built a from a shitty apartment in New York. And that was my identity. That was who I was. Three years ago I was a gamer who never left the state. Today I'm in Greece, waking up in Airbnbs across Europe. Madrid, Amalfi, Athens. Not grinding, not hustling, just existing, exploring and free. This is abundance. And I'm grateful, so incredibly grateful. Not just for the success, but for the journey. For the mindset shift I had at 18 that started everything. For the habits at Chipotle that built my foundation for identity shift that led me finally become who I was meant to be. So if you're stuck right now in your room, in your game, James, and your dead end job, hear me out. First, you have to change your mindset. You have to take accountability. Understand that your life is all on you and it's all up to you. But you have the power to change it. And second, you need to build habits. You need to do like you would do your business. You need to work hard in the gym, work hard at your job, do great with as you can with relationships and become abundant person who does things well. No exceptions. And then third, you need to change your self image. You're not trying to be successful, you are successful. Act like it. 90 days, that's all it takes. Three years from now, be in a place you can't even imagine right now. Free, abundant living. That's a promise. So start today.
