The value of the summit is paid for in the climb

Nathan Miller built an e-commerce brand that stalled, then realized through visualization that struggle makes rewards meaningful. He argues pressure builds character and resilience, making eventual success far more rewarding than easy wins.

What's up guys? So you're gonna get intellectual Nate today, but I've been trying to do this thing that's very hard, right? I'm in e-commerce, so I'm trying to start this new brand and I've been doing it for like over a month, right? And we're seeing some really good results, but we just haven't cracked that breakthrough. And I feel like a lot of times when you guys might even be seeing this in your own stores or your own businesses or whatever you're doing, A lot of times when we get caught up in, you know, not seeing the results we want, not seeing progress, or not getting the reward we want, we feel— we start to feel like sorry, but we also start to feel very, like, I don't even know how to describe it. It's like a ball of negativity starts to form and it gets bigger and bigger the longer that time goes on, the longer we don't see any results, the longer we don't crack the code, right? And one thing just kind of popped into my head. I was literally just laying on the floor right there visualizing, and I haven't done that in a while. And usually what I do is just, let's listen to music, put on my headphones and just try to picture the reward coming to me, picture my dream scenario and really feel that moment. And when I was doing that at the end, it was amazing. I felt great, everything. But I had a realization that I want to share with you guys, and I think is super powerful. I'm going to make an analogy here. So for, for those that play pickleball, you guys, everybody knows what pickleball is nowadays, right? And if you're playing pickleball versus, you know, a friend of yours that's like, you know, similar skill level to you, or somebody who's even better than you, right? When you beat them, you're going to have a pretty good sensation. You're going to feel good. You're going to feel like, oh, I actually accomplished something. You're going to feel like it meant something, right? And that was actually meaningful. But if, for example, maybe you play— in my case, maybe you play your girlfriend— don't kill me, Alyssa— who's not as good or just learning, and you beat her, it doesn't feel as meaningful, right? It's not as fulfilling. It's not as impactful. It doesn't feel as special. And I've started to realize that. I just had the realization And I wrote it down, literally, I wrote it down right here. It's probably gonna be the title of this video, but what good is a reward without the struggle? The reason why playing your friend or playing someone who's cracked at pickleball and actually beating them, why it feels so good, why it feels so good when you are playing ranked Rocket League and you're playing in a high rank and you absolutely crush it and you actually beat the team you didn't think you could beat, why that feels so good is because there was struggle. It's because the struggle— it's because you're at a new level and you had to struggle to get the reward. And in my business, in e-com, and in life in general, this applies. What good is it if you throw up a winning— or throw up a product tomorrow and it immediately rips and immediately you hit $100K a day? Like, it's gonna be obviously super exciting, super, super cool. But you know what's even cooler? When you, when you're grinding and busting your butt for 6 months learning direct response, learning ads, learning how to install learnings, learning how to do customer research, learning how to do all these things, learning LTV, learning all these different things that you need to do, and then you crack it once you've been trying to do that for 3 years, it's gonna feel way more meaningful. And that is something I just realized, like, the struggle is actually where the meaning comes from. And so if you guys are struggling right now with whatever you're struggling with, be grateful for that struggle. I know that sounds weird. I just wrote it down right here, but pressure is a blessing. It's a blessing, bro. It's a blessing to have struggles because that one builds your character, but also It makes the reward so much more meaningful. It makes it feel so much more special. And so whatever you do in life, whatever problems you're facing right now, understand that it's just gonna make your reward even better. It's just gonna make you even better. It's gonna make you sharper. It's gonna make you more resilient. There's literally not a single negative you can take from it. If you have this mindset. And this is the mindset you have to have if you want to win. So just a little rant, little YouTube video with intellectual Nate. I wanted to share this because this kind of just got downloaded into my brain as I was visualizing on the floor. But yeah, guys, pressure is a privilege, and any reward is useless without some struggle. So yeah, love y'all.
