In this testimonial, Carl Newman, founder of Oz Marketing Creative Agency, describes how a five‑day Performia recruitment course transformed his business. He outlines his agency’s services—website development, print media, email marketing, and SEO—and explains prior challenges with staff communication and client interactions. The course taught him to assess personalities, match people to roles, and spot troublemakers, which enabled him to build a trustworthy, high‑performing team of about ten full‑time employees. As a result, he could delegate responsibilities, take a month‑long holiday while the business continued operating, and achieve roughly a ten‑fold increase in revenue. Throughout, he emphasizes the importance of understanding people, fostering a family‑like work environment, and the tangible business growth that followed the training.

Hi, so my name is Carl Newman and I have a company called Oz Marketing Creative Agency. We deal in various areas of the advertising and marketing world. So we deal with website, print media marketing, e-marketing such as email campaigns, etc., and also search engine optimization. I wanted to have a big agency and and enjoy my time with the staff. I saw friends of mine that were doing really well in business because of the training they did with Performia, and their staff were enthusiastic and happy people, and that's the type of people I wanted to work with. I need to understand people more so the people I choose to work with, you know, they're going to be productive and they're going to be friendly And they're all about reaching the goal at the end of the day. I had an issue with communication, basically. I was working in an artistic field, and artistically I was fine, but dealing with staff and sometimes the clients was a bit difficult. I did a 5-day course on recruitment and how to hire people, and it was amazing. It truly was. During that course, it gave me an understanding of Personalities and what type of personalities should fit the roles of the business and how to communicate with them to get the best out of them and, you know, watch out for the troublemakers and be able to spot the troublemakers easily. Realising that I can trust staff and that I can put them into a position and let them just work at the position and that I can go off and do other things with the business in different areas or with other businesses that I have. I also squeezed in a holiday for a month in Europe and I came back and the business was still intact. So it was that knowing that there are trustworthy people that are willing to expand your business. It's, you know, when you can choose who you want to work with and you can work out and quickly get new staff, then it becomes, you know, family basically rather than a work environment. It's not a matter of thinking that, for me, thinking that you need to do this course. It's a matter of knowing. This is probably, well, before it was just me and now I have 10 people that work with me pretty much on a full-time basis and the income's at least 10 times higher than what it was.
