This is a YouTube video titled "5 Revenue Streams Every Writer Should Have In Their Portfolio" created in May 2024. The content features a single speaker discussing five different ways writers can generate income, including ghostwriting, digital products, paid newsletters, books, and consulting or coaching. The speaker shares personal experience on how these streams contributed to their financial success as a writer.
I think every writer should build a portfolio of these five different revenue streams for themselves. So first, every writer should also ghostwrite. Think of ghostwriting as a dividend on your talent. Anything you know how to write, you can also get paid to ghostwrite for other people. Second, you should launch digital products. Digital products are a great way to educate people on what you do. Third is a paid newsletter. So paid newsletter subscription, you know, 5, 10, 20 bucks a month. Basically, it's an exchange of I give you information, you give me your attention and a little bit of money in return. Fourth, books. Don't think of it like you have to write a book. Think of it like you're running a paid newsletter for a year and then you can stitch all those paid newsletters together and publish them as a book on Amazon. And then fifth, is doing some sort of consulting or coaching. This could be one on one coaching, or it could be working with a startup and helping them improve their messaging or their marketing. You can get paid in cash. Sometimes you can get paid in equity. I've done all of these things. All of these different components are part of my portfolio. This is how I've made millions of dollars as a writer, and I would recommend that you do the same.
