This is a YouTube video titled "Avoid the Mega-Categories as a Beginner" containing a monologue or talk recorded in November 2024. The speaker advises beginner writers and ghostwriters to focus on their unique information advantage rather than broad popular categories like mindset or productivity, emphasizing a strategic approach to monetization.
Beginner writers, beginner ghostwriters, they say I have interests in. And then they go on to list 3, 4, 5 of the biggest categories on planet Earth. So they're like, I'm interested in history and productivity and mindset. Okay, well, mindset literally doesn't get any bigger. If you are a human being with a brain, you're interested in mindset. Total addressable market for mindset. Eight billion people. And the reality is you don't need eight billion people. You need two people. And so it's not helpful to start with these giant mega categories. It is much easier to start wherever you have an information advantage. That is where you should start. You should not, until you have successfully monetized wherever you have your current information advantage, go looking for other categories, because it's pointless. Why would you do that? Why are you giving up your most valuable asset, which is your information advantage? That is the thing that allows you to monetize and allows you to monetize quickly.
