This is a YouTube video titled "Don’t invest in the stock market, do this instead" containing a personal monologue recorded on July 9, 2023. The speaker reflects on their past experience with investing in the stock market and emphasizes the importance of investing in oneself by building skills and increasing earning potential rather than relying on stock market returns.
Between the ages of 24 and 28, the amount of hours I spent checking Robinhood thinking I understood even 1% of what was going on, I wasted so much time. And not only that, I ended up locking up any capital I had, which wasn't a lot, couple thousand dollars in these stocks where I would be like, I made 5% this year. Look at me building wealth. If I could go back and do anything differently. It's the realization that there is no vehicle, no zero, not even bitcoin that gives you as high of a return as yourself and increasing your own skills and earning potential. Period. If I could go back, I would have spent the three grand and gone what skill do I need to build in order to stop making 50 grand a year like I was as a copywriter? And how do I acquire that skill so that I can go make 200 grand a year.
