Nicolas Cole argues that teaching should focus on the "why" behind an idea, not just the "how" or "what." When people hear a suggestion, they immediately think of reasons it won't work. Answering those objections first, before explaining tactics, creates real engagement.
The moment you tell anyone to do anything, the very first thing they say is, "Here are 10 reasons why that won't work for me. Here are 10 reasons why I can't do that." You immediately unlock all these questions and all these objections. And so a lot of the teaching component isn't necessarily, "Here's all the things that you can do. Here's all the advanced tactics." The teaching component is actually more of the, "Here's why this is so valuable," or, "Here's why you need to do this," or, "Here's why that question isn't a valid question," or, "Here's why that objection isn't a valid objection."
